Email App - need one like Mac mail or T'bird - Galaxy Note 10.1 Themes and Apps

I'm tossing up between the Ipad and the Note 10.1 at the moment. As I have not used Android (yes I known I have been on a different planet for a while) can anyone tell me if there is a mail app similar to Thunderbird or Mac Mail (I use both on desktop machines)
I like to access all my accounts when on the road, so currently I have five different email accounts running on Thunderbird when away from home.
This is just one of the questions needing an answer before I make a decision on which tablet I buy.

You have the native email a app and in a few months Google plans to release maybe Sparrow to Android...
Android it's a good deal!

I really like Samsung's native email app, I just wish it had push functionality.

Have a look at K-9 mail. Either in Play store or the latest versions direct from the development page.

Sure I didn't remember of K-9. Thanks for the tip

I use Kaiten for everything outside of exchange.

Another vote for Kaiten. I used K9 for a long time, and Kaiten is a much-needed refresh.

Are any of the email maps you all mentioned---able to use a password for a imap account. I need something password protected for my work email.

Have you tried Aquamail? You can tweak the settings to your heart's content and it has password protection (for the whole app not individual accounts).

I am really liking AuqaMail. Using it on my Note 10.1 and the S3.

Any way to see 4 gmail accounts in 1 inbox?

I see there are apps like K9 but ideally I'd not want to have to re-setup my accounts, but I don't see a way to see all 4 gmail accounts in one box. If I set them up in the Mail app the delivery is delayed but the gmail app is near instant but it drives me nuts not being able to see all email in one box.
Thanks!
In K-9 setting, make your default view as unified folder.
THis way it will show you all emails from all account.

Oh I said aside from K9 so I don't have to type all my accounts hee hee
Ideally want to keep the stock gmail but guessing that isn't possible eh?
You could foward your accounts to just one.

Not the ideal solution, especially for replies.
Any update to this one? I'd prefer 1 email box instead of 4.

That's not one inbox it then separates them into 4. I want a single unified inbox.
Oh. Then k9 is your best bet.

No good for me :-(
I'm using the stock ROM and email app and it gives a choice of seeing email from all accounts on one screen. On the side it has a colored bar that shows what account the email is from. Not sure if that's what you mean.

Yeah that's the built in mail app, designed for non-gmail. To use gmails' true push functionality, one has to use the gmail client. Unlike Mail app, it allows you to add as many as you want but you have to view each separately. :-(
Guess what. If you set up your gmail as an exchange account you can get true push. Just use set up manually and use m.google.com as the server.

You're going to have to give me more detail than that
It wants the email, which I have my own domain I use through Google Apps, which for all intensive purposes is the same as google, it's just @mydomain instead of gmail.com, but all the servers are the same...
The issue is it wants a server, which the m.google.com doesn't fly with setting it up, then it wants a domain, and if I enter gmail.com or my domain it doesn't work.
I just set mine up as a test. Check requires encryption. Server is m.Google.com I left domain blank. Worked fine.

OMG You're a GENIUS (Again!). I was trying m.gmail.com and that's why it wasn't working. I changed to m.google.com and it works great as an exchange server. Thank you so much!
Seems a lot better than having to look at one box at a time in the Gmail app

Why do people prefer gmail app over email app?

I was browsing the "post your homescreen " thread and came.across alot of people using the gmail app as apposed to the email app. I personally use the email one because of the ability to add my schools email account in it. Which one do you guys use and why?

I use both, the gmail one is pretty good.

Gmail is the only email account i use. Makes sense to use the App
I have both. But I rarely use gmail.
I use both too. I use gmail for well my gmail accounts and the reg email app for my none gmail accounts. I like both
Yeah I think I'm going to use both aswell. I have 2 gmail accounts and then my school email
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I use both because it is easy to keep my personal email from work email. Just an added barrier of sending an email from the wrong account.
I use K-9 for personal mail, Roadsync for work mail, Gmail for google account type stuff.
All email accounts auto-forward back to gmail to keep a copy of everything in archive.
I have all my mailaccounts aggregated on my own server and use K9 to access them. For me K9 is the best mail client on android, not only because it can sign and encryped my mails.

Nothing fancy, just a virtual root-server with an imap-server, a smtp-server, spam-detection and a script to fetch from all my freemail-accounts.

Corporate (Exchange) email client alternatives

I think I've had enough with the stock e-mail app for getting my work e-mails. It dims the entire phone every time I open it, it flickers when I scrolls, etc. This is on multiple ROMs with multiple versions of Jelly Bean. I'm convinced the app just plain sucks.
Anyone use any revolutionary third-party apps that they want to share? I checked out TouchDown and Moxier... but $20? No thanks. K-9 seems just OK.
thanks!

Touchdown is great, but expensive. Keep an eye out for sales, I got it for $2 about 2 years ago
You can try the AOSP client, I believe beans has it in his roms. You can also use enhanced email but I stopped using it since I got my S3, the app was acting weird...

I'm trying out Aqua Mail right now. It is only SMTP at this point. No direct Exchange connectivity (ActiveSync)... YET. I e-mailed the dev and he is considering getting a license from M$ to add it to his app.
Other than that I love it. It's free but appends a watermark of sorts at the end of email drafts. $5 to unlock pro version.

Well... found my solution. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=33402676&postcount=5
It's an inverted AOSP email flashable zip. It's just plain sexy. It doesn't have any of the issues the default JB e-mail app has.
If you're interested....
-Nandroid
-Delete the SecEmail and SecExchange apk's from /System/App with a root file manager
-Flash the zip in link above
-Go into app manager and force stop/delete data on email AND exchange. I had to do this to get it to work. Not optional.
-Profit.

The problem with using an alternate email client is you lose the new notification features of jelly bean. I was a long time user of Enhanced Email, but given the issues using it in jelly bean, and losing out on some improved notification functions I opted to use the stock app. I do miss the custom led notifications though

I've used them all. Enhanced Email, Touchdown, Mail droid, K-9, Kaiten, etc... All are good but all do not have it "all" for functionality. I did like enhanced email on my phone but hated it on tablet due to not having the preview pane option. Touchdown is super powerful but only allows exchange email. Mail droid has great features but does not yet support calendars. K-9 was great until my company changed to exchange server 2010 which K-9 does not support.
I feel like I am on a lifelong search for a do it all email client.

I forked over $20 and bought Touchdown. Great layout. Love it. Done.
I just wish touchdown did more than 1 account.

Replacement email app

Hey everyone. Just curious as to what email apps everyone is using? I have both my personal and work (exchange) email on my note. The default email app seems to be the only app I use that is incredibly sluggish. I was hopeful that different roms or kernels would help but it hasnt.
I used to use kaiten and touchdown, but stopped when I restored my device and tried to use the default app. I was hoping I could do so and use the combined view for all my accounts. Any suggestions?
On my Galaxy S3 I use Enhanced Email.
Works pretty good I thing.

Another vote for Aqua Mail, I have eleven email accounts from various providers and it's very responsive. If you use IMAP for incoming mail expect it to be slower than POP3 whatever the client program you use.

[Q] Email App

Note 3 stock email app is missing lots of important features:
- Spell check your email before sending
- Reply to email with a meeting request
and more
Which email app are you using?
Im using Aquamail pro.
A little slow on Yahoo push but at least it works.
MailDroid is another one that i used to use, works with Yahoo mail as well
Notice your requirements and not sure any email app on android provides those services
