I know that is possible to put a ".nomedia" file, but this will hidden all content. I want to hidden the photos of the music album that are viewable in the gallery. How can solve this problem?
I'm on jb cm10 custom ROM.

I don't understand. You have some pics in a folder which are the covers you want to hide, but some other pics you want to see in the gallery. Is this right? If so, why don't you create a subfolder for your covers and put a .nomedia into it?

I have a music folder with subfolder with different album. Inside there is music and photos of the album. This permits to show the album's photo in the music player. I don't want to see this photos in the gallery. If I put the nomedia file, I will not see both the music and photos in the player.

I know that Apollo automatically fetches images from the Net for you (I have no images in my music folder and some images are displayed in the music player).
Is this a valid option for you or do you absolutely want the photos that are adjacent to your music files ?
Thanks. I will try. I will post if it works.
EDIT: it works.

OK so I want to use the stock music app (music player) so I mounted my phone and made a new folder called music on the SD card(internal)
Is there any way to have it see only that folder? Rite now it shows all music on phone including ringtones. I normally just would run a shuffle mode.
Thanks

Yea I'd like an answer to this one to. I poked around a little but couldn't make it work.
(BTW OP GM for the win. Nice!)
Do you have your ringtones in a folder titled ringtones? I did this on mine and seem to remember them not showing up in my music player when I was using it.
I (and many other people with the captivate/galaxy s) have had issues with the stock music player, although not directly related to the issue you mentioned. I believe that Meridian does what you are looking for, but doesn't look quite as nice as the Samsung app. I can't check because I decided I liked the look of tunewiki better (it doesn't have the ability to choose your folders.)
Yes ringtones and notify sounds have there own folder.
I found a apparently that seems to do it pretty well. Mixzing. Only shows my full lenght songs
Still if someone know a way let me know

I'd also like to know how to fix this. I have stuff in my music player that's like... my photos? I don't want to use an alternative because I love the little pull-down interface on the locked main screen for controlling the native music player.
Oh this is easy. Just open notepad, choose all file types and save a file called ".nomedia" without quotes, and with period. Then put that folder in all places where you dont want applications to grab media. I put it in my ringtone folder and my gameloft folders (because gallery was showing game photos)
So I have a lot of music that I copied over on my sd card.
Now though all my album art is showing up in the gallery?
Is there any way I can limit what folders are being added to the gallery program? If not, hows do I add music without having it added to it?

You can use a program like media monkey to tag the songs with the corresponding album art and then get rid of the actual picture file.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
For the record, I love MediaMonkey and highly recommend it for tagging your songs. It can autotag them, but I prefer to choose my own images and to make sure it tags the right albums, and not a compilation album.
It is rather therapeutic and relaxing, actually.
Is there anyway to extract and album thumb from an mp3 file?
Sent from my Droid Incredible CM7 using XDA Premium App
A standard MP3 file only contains audio data, with no additional information about the artist or type of audio contained within it. please see the two webpages to shed some light on this.
1st webpage = Embedding Album Art in MP3 Files
2nd webpage = How to Tag an MP3 With Album Art
if you want to grab album art there are several apps on the market that will allow you to do this. album art grabber found here is rather useful. you then might (in theory) be able to look at your sd card to extract the file that way. not really sure, never tried.
Hi everybody.
When I open the default music player, all the songs that don't have covers show a cover of a random song, and that cover it's applied to every song that don't have cover.
Got that?
I'm running a Value Pack of Gingerbread.
Sorry for my bad English
Greetings!

Go to the music folder. Unhide hidden files. You will see the .jpg file which is repeated in the Music Player. Delete that. Refresh your mediastore. That should do it.

I did it many times. From the computer and using ES File Explorer. But there isn't any image file in the folder.
I have songs by Juanes, and the cover of those songs appear in every song without cover.
I flashed differents ROMs many times too, but still happening.
After doing the above thing, just see to it that there are no images in the folder where u have placed songs.. Or else, they will appear again..

Try editing covers with itag if you can..

I think that your problem is that your songs don't have album tag. I'm not sure about this but the music player set as album the name of the folder (surely music), and if it finds some song "with the same album" just take one cover. So my advice is to put album tag in your songs

I have been trying to get some music on my one s with liquid smooth. I originally put an album on my phone in flac. I loaded it at /sdcard/music/[artist]/[album]/[track#]-[song].flac. I've been trying three different apps, play music, stock music app, and winamp. The files would not show up in any of the apps but I did noticed if I browsed to the files with root explorer and "open with" winamp that they would play within that app but the app showed no recognition of the file other than being able to play and pause it.
Next I decided to convert some albums to ogg and put them on my phone. Still have the same issue as with flac, but notice that all three apps would play them if I opened it through root explorer.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Obviously there is support for the file types as I could get them to play, but why will they not show up within the apps?
Btw, my initial goal was to get music to play in zombies, run! Which uses an external music app to play music from what I understand.

You have to clear then data on your media storage which can be found in apps. Open settings/app and find media storage.. It will have an android icon.
Clear the data and cache and reset your phone. This should work. Let me know if it doesn't

Try the APP "rescan SD" or sth like this.

do what the guy above said
and check your sd card for ".nomedia" file in your music folders
Took a while before I had a change to try your suggestion, but it worked, thank you! Downloaded "rescan media" and rebooted and now I see the files
