Bluetooth speakers - General Questions and Answers

I would like to get a Bluetooth hands-free speaker to use in my car. I want use it for phone calls and text messaging. I have been looking at the Motorola Roadster 2 and was wondering if anyone has used it and what your opinion was before I spent the money. I am open to all suggestions if you have tried other hands-free speakers. I currently have a Incredible 2 using CM10, or CM7 and I am thinking about getting a Galaxy Nexus.

Any suggestions?

They haven't officially released yet, but the Vers 1Q are amazing pieces of hardware.

Best bluetooth headset?

I've searched, but am having trouble coming up with a clear direction. It looks like the Jawbone II might work, but I saw one post saying that incoming call audio wasn't routed to the headset! Ideally, something small, with good battery life and voice command compatible would work for me.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!
I think it is a personal experience as to what headset is "the best".
I've had a lot of the higher end units....Jawbone1,2, blueant, Plantronics 510A,
Zivio Boom. All had their plus & minus points.
Right now, my "daily driver" is the Zivio boom, but it took sending it back 2 times to get a good one. First one had a broken boom, 3 weeks in, the 2nd one had static/low range. 3rd one works perfect.
The jawbone 1 was fantastic, but (for me) I think I broke 1,543 ear hooks until I got a custom fit ear piece. Jawbone 2, was smaller, but, I think the noise canceling, incoming sound & outgoing sound were inferior to the jawbone1.
Blueant Z9, had good incoming, but for me had low outgoing sound. The plantronics 510A was about the best all around incoming & outgoing sound, but,
it was like wearing a weight on your ear. For my preference, it was a little bulky as I wear glasses.
Each had their good points & bad points. I'm still searching for "the ultimate" headset, but I don't think it really exists.
One think for me that really made a difference, was to purchase a custom made ear piece. No more ear hooks, perfect fit, no more sore ear. They are kind of pricey, but for my preference, it really made a difference.
Which ever BT you purchase, make sure they have a good return policy...just in case you don't really like it.
JB II
Ive had the MOto pure (SUCKED), Jawbone, Jawbone II. I must say that the jawbone II is the best bt because of its quality and size. The Jawbone I is too cumbersome. When I lost my Jawbone II i did not think twice about buying a different earpiece. I immediately replaced it.
Thanks Guys. I'll give the Jawbone 2 a try... and also take your advice about a possible return by buying locally instead of online.
For me..the BlueAnt V1 won out over all the others. Check it out!
I have the regular 1g Jawbone, and I love it. The second version can only be better. Heard great things about blueant as well.
I've also had a Moto H500 and H700, and both were total ****e. I'm really liking how my Jawbone actually allows me to leave my phone in my pocket and enjoy crisp, clear conversations. . it was only 70 bucks, so not a bad deal. Jawbone 2 was 85 but I was feeling cheap that day.
Edit: just read up on the BlueAnt V1 -- that looks pretty damned nice!!

Wind noise
I live in California and drive a convertable, so top down 300 days a year. I literally tried 18 different BT headsets and the only one that was acceptable at all to my callers was the Plantronics Voyager 510. It has a bit of stiff foam on the tip that works better than the others. Jawbone was terrible with the wind.
Just returned the Jawbone II. Not being able to hear incoming calls when answered from the headset turned out to be a huge pain... also, it seemed to randomly disconnect itself from the phone and voice command (the noise assassin button) didn't always work.
As an aside, I am having trouble with my data connection after some period of time when bluetooth is on. Anyone else having this issue?
Edit: Also no TomTom or Music through the Jawbone. I'm assuming this is a bluetooth stack issue. Is anyone getting other sound through a bluetooth headset?
i am really liking the new JB-200m i got this christmas, only thing that sucks is i cant activate MSVC with it. i emailed their company and they said that they are looking into including that ability in the next model!
In the last 4 years I have easily had 15 BT headsets.
Currently, I am using the blueAnt V1 (updated firmware) and find it the best so far with my Fuze at the combination of 6 key areas:
1. Fit
2. Sound
3. Performance in the out of doors (wind)
4. Battery Life
5. Stability of connection with the phone
6. Ergonomics
JawBone 1 was good except in even the slightest wind (like a squirrel farting in a tree 50 feet away), but it didn't fit and went through ear hooks like Bubba goes through administrative assistants in Harlem.
Jawbone 2 was better on the squirrel fart issue, but didn't fit much better and dropped the connection too much
The V1 had initial problems with sound on incoming calls, but a firmware upgrade (available on their site) has fixed that. The fit is great (I don't need a hook), the thing is light and the battery lasts me 2 days and lots of calls. Sound is almost as good as the Jawbone...like barely a difference to the party on the other end of the call. Sound to me is less tinny that w/ JB2.
I wanted to weigh in here because I am "testing" my nth different headset (feels like) and I keep finding my self going back to the same one over and over again.
I have had the
Plantronics
Discovery 655 - useless but very light weight, blinks blue light, not good. Thumbs DOWN.
Discovery 925 - PERFECT weight and time, but complaints from callers about to loud pickup of background noises, option for no blinking status light, multiple (x2) pairings.
Voyager 510 - Still one of my favorites but has limits I don't like, such as no A2DP and multiple pairings option not available. Callers can't tell I'm on a headset. Not good in the wind unless you use the wind guard (which looks stupid). Other than that, a great single phone headset for the car.
Motorola
605 - crap.
Jabra
BT8010 - The best one yet and the one I keep coming back to HOWEVER, awkward fitting but small sacrifice for the features. Full A2DP, stereo, streams device audio, Blue OLED display, doesn't blink light, push button display,Phone directory in memory, software and firmware, Caller ID, multipoint technology, etc,... Lots of features. NO complaints from callers and they can't tell I'm on a headset.
BT8030 - Just a plain ugly but VERY cool features, fun for the hotel room while traveling. Excellent battery full A2DP features. Still very cool.
These are just some that I have used so far. I am always in search of the newest and best "feature-rich" headset. My perfect headset is still not there yet, but maybe someday soon. I would love to help design one with a company.
Hope some of this might help.
I have tried about 5 different motorolla headsets through the years and they all had bad sound quality. I had the Jawbone and returned it because of fit. Quality was good though.
Another recommendation on the BlueAnt Z9i. Callers are unaware that I'm using a headset.
For me, the fact that the company is prepared to offer software firmware upgrades was also a big plus. It's also the first headset I've ever found comfortable enough to actually leave on when I'm not on a call.

Bluetooth Headphones.

Does anybody know any good bluetooth headphones...I hate working out with wired headphones. Right now I'm debating between the Sony DRBT100CX and Motorola MOTOROKR S9-HD.
get the sonys as i've had the motos and they're rubbish and hurt your ears after a while !
I have the motorokr s305 I just got from verizon for 25.00 on a sale. I also have a pair of Dynex headphones from ebay I got for 20$. They both feel ok and work great. For the price, the Dynex ones are good.
On a side note, I opened up the dynex headphones and wired audio cables up to it to plug into my home receiver.
Careful buying motorola products on ebay. I purchased a set of bluetooth headphones and got a knockoff. They worked like ****.
The motorola s9 hd is totally wireless which is great.
The sony uses bluetooth 2.1 which might work better with my n1 compared to the motorola s9 hd's 2.0 bluetooth.
I have the Sennheiser MM400 and its the best i tried. Especially the sound is great if u listen to music as well!
Yes, I using it to mostly workout...i need something that won't fall off while running so the Sennheiser MM400 might be suitable.

I don't think there are any "good" ones. Reading the reviews leads me to believe they all suck.
I have the Motorola S805 and they're comfortable enough but the sound quality is lacking and they're also quite noisy (hiss). I almost always use corded headphones instead.
So what's the difference b/w bluetooth 2.0 vs. bluetooth 2.1

About .1
LOL. good one...I mean specs wise. Better reception and quality?
I actually own a pair of those Sony DRBT100CX and they work very good with the MyTouch. I listen to music on them a lot and there's no skipping.
Using it for calls works well also, the mic on it is sensitive though. I could stand about 25 feet away while talking in a normal voice and it comes in crystal clear on the other end (probably not good to use in crowded areas, at least for talking on the phone through it).
I also use it paired with my ps3 as a headset and it works well with it also.
I'm satisfied with it thus far.
I have the Moto HT280's the S9's and now the Altec Lansing/Plantronics BackBeat 906
They all cut out horribly outdoors.
The problem seems to be they can't penetrate a human torso, so a phone in your breast pocket won't get signal to the antenna near the back of your head. If the signal has walls to bounce off of it's generally fine.
However if I use the audio->bt dongle that came with the 906's it works fine indoors or outdoors. So I'm currently blaming weak BT on the N1
I'm currently trying to figure out a BT TX power test suite to see of the N1 just has weak BT TX/RX power (perhaps to save the battery) and if it's changeable.
Motorokr S9, had them last year, they lasted about 3 months with me running75-80 minutes a day 4x or 5x week, then the sweat got in and [email protected]@ked an
ll up. Definitely not worth it, also the controls are awful. I now have a pair of iLuv clip-on earphones, and they come with an adapter so they can be used even with non BT devices. I love them.
Motorola S805 if you like supra aural head phones (not ear buds).
I use this for both computer headphones and headphones for my phone. It also has a mic if you get a phone call mid work out.
They do skip on occasion, but it's not that big a deal.
Ive got Nokia BH-03 which are great for the price I paid which was about 40 bucks. 10 hours of music play time really loud and great sound quality(for Bluetooth headphones).
Does anyone else have sync issues when switching from music to games?

I have a pair of Sony BT and a pair of Insignia BT, they both sound great to me but im far from an audiophile. I usually use the insignias more because theyre wrap arounds which is better for me at the gym, but I usually leave my phone on the windowsill and the quality is fine wherever I walk around, its not a huge gym, but decent size and the audio controls built onto the insignias let me pause, skip fwd and back, volume and all that stuff which is nice.
Motorola Bluetooth® DJ Headphones S805
I Bought the Motorola Bluetooth® DJ Headphones S805 last year for my G1 and i must say i love them! they can last you 12hrs on a single charge. i would highly recommend these headphones. here's a link from amazon. Click Here. shop around you could find a better deal on them. good luck.
Samsung SBH650 (has 3.5mm plug)
Replace kit earbuds with Shure ones.
has anyone used jaybirds, they're alittle expensive compared to the other bluetooth headphones i've seen, but i've seen great ratings on them as well.
supposed to be great for workouts, sweat durability and all
especially curious how they work with n1 if anyone has them or tried them

[Q] Bluetooth Car Stereo

Hey Guys,
Didn't see this for the Inspire - how do things work for this phone with bluetooth car stereos specifically pushing your contacts. I've always had problems with this issue with my Evo I dumped and my iPhone 4 is easy as pie. I'm giving that to my wife because I miss Android and want an HTC see again any thoughts ASAP? Going to buy tomorrow most likely and I'm thinking this or Infuse or Atrix since both of the others have front facing camera and I can do vid with the kids and such when I'm traveling.
Thanks!

Cheap(ish) wired headset?

I know that the iPhone headsets do not work (aside from just as headphones) with our phones. What I want to know is if there is a cheapish wired solution that does.
I don't care as much about things like volume control (would be nice) or answer/exit buttons. I will have complete access to the phone when using this (BT in my car, so don't need it there). Really I want this so I can have meetings/conference calls on my phone, still be able to work on the keyboard, and have the phone plugged in.
I would prefer something that would double as a pair of headphones, but that's not as important either. Just looking for suggestions.
Klipsch s4i. Supposed to be one of the best headphones for under $100. It had a mic and 3 button control (it says for apple products)
Mic will still work....see xda thread below. 1st link is to amazon. Everyone has their own ideas on what cheap is . Set a specific price range if you are looking for something not as pricey. That price is great for the headphones alone and even better with call support.

I've seen multiple reports on those ones. I may have to check them out. I thought that my local Costco had them, but it turns out that the pack I thought of was actually from Scosche (http://www.costco.com/Scosche-2-Pack-Headphones-w-Mic.product.100022924.html), though they say specifically that they work with Android phones.
I'm not picky about sound quality other than voice. These aren't going to take the place of my good headphones (Beyerdynamic DT-770) for the most part; but I also don't want something that's going to fall apart the first time I take them out of my pocket (assuming I travel with them, that is).
Just buy the SGH-I987 (Samsung Captivate) headset off ebay. I been using those ever since 2010.
Headsets made for the Galaxy Tab series work with the S2. I got one fom ebay for around $10.
I use a pair of Skullcandy Ink'd earbuds with an inline button/mic. They were like $15 at the local grocery store and work fairly well for day-to-day use. However, I have noticed that they're a little quiet when I'm trying to call people.

[Q] need good bluetooth headphones for my n4

i need a good pair of bluetooth headphones (music and voice) for ny n4. I tried out over the ears and didnt like the pressure on my head. i tried the lg tones 7 and 8 series and either the bluetooth didnt work well or the audio quality wasnt great. i want to try the infinium, the new lg tones but cant justify to pay that much for similar types of headsets on thr market.

buy the sony sbh20 and add whatever headphones or earbuds you like
I ordered the JayBird BlueBuds X Sport from Amazon along with a case for the phone. People seem to like the BlueBuds X.

Any BT that uses apt x codec will sound great for being bt headphones. The jaybird x are nice as they support apt x. As well as many of the LG tone headphones. I know the Tone 730 I used sounds great for music. I wonder if your old phone did not have apt x support. Not all of them do. What price range are you looking at?

i have the z10 currently therefore i am estatic to get my n4
my budget is up to 100 but the more cost effective, the better so i can spend more on other accessories!
I have own the jaybirds x for a while now. Couldn't be happier with them. Sure they are a bit expensive but in my opinion worth every penny. My backup pair is the Motorola s10. The range is awesome on them. I could run a 1/8 mile track and never lose signal with my device.
I love my jaybirds bluebuds x they have amazing sound
The jay birds are the best, i found the next best at a fair price to be the Plantronics backbeat 2 to be the next best thing. Great sound good range and small footprint. People have claimed poor battery life. I avagerage about 5 to 6 hours of constant use. They claim 4 to 6 from the company i believe. Can be purchased around 50 dollars.

I've tried two models of the LG Tone with my Note 2. At times they sounded horrible, and also frequently cut the microphone out; the people on the call thought I hung up but I could still hear them but they couldn't hear me. That seemed to be a software issue on the Note 2. And it also got to where the headphones were staticy or went out even though they were only 2 feet from the phone. A reboot 90% of the time fixed those problems for a while.
So far I haven't experienced that with the Note 4 thankfully.
I have a pair of these under the anker brand. Not bad for only 30 bucks that I paid for them.

But i know the jbird x sound much better then these. Do you have to have bt headphones? Maybe get a cheaper set for working out and a better set like these?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HUNUOJW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I have these and they are great for the price.
I think my next headphones may be something like the samsung Level on set. Just waiting for a better price on them.
For those with the Jaybirds, how is the battery life?
AS long as they don't cut out/mute when wifi is on.. Had that issue with my Note 3 and LG HBS-750
I got the jaybirds. Love them. I've never ran them completely out of battery before charging, so I don't know the exact battery life. Have gotten over 5 hours many times though.

I want something unintrusive, to take advantage from android wear to actually control the device: so earphones, sound quality and almost no cable... right now the only thing I found are the Jaybirds.
JasonJoel, may I ask how fares the mic and noise cancellation system? The only complaint I've ever heard is about poor voice in-call!
I think the noise cancelation is pretty good. The mic quality is ok, but not great.

I just purchased the Plantronics Backbeats 2 about 3 days ago. Had never seen them but I went into Vzn to look for Note 4 accessories and saw the last pair hanging. I thought to myself, WOW only one pair....that's a good sign, right? lol. Anyway, I have to say I am satisfied with the sound quality. I love the pouch & fact that it is a on the go charger as well. I had plantronics before as a bluetooth earpiece about 10yrs ago and that was a good device way back then. I have issues with finding the proper sized buds to use. Oddly enough the large ones work best as fully plugging my ear for best sound quality. I am still gonna try Sammy' s Circle Gear though.
I have these http://www.amazon.com/MEElectronics...qid=1414287587&sr=8-1&keywords=airfi+matrix+2 MEElectronics Air-Fi Matrix2 AF62 Stereo Bluetooth Wireless + Wired Headphones with aptX, AAC, and NFC . They sound great with BT 4.0 and aptx codec and there isn't much clamping force

Thanks! I have the Platronics Backbeat Go 2, but the ear tips are terrible. There isn't any Comply Foam I can order either. No budget earbuds seem to have better fit and audio quality than the good old Klipsch S4a. I'll definitely pick these up to use with my Klipschs.
