I'm getting a Volvo C70 Turbo convertible next week and need something that will allow me to take calls when the top is down. So is there some equipment out there that has excellent noise cancelling with wind noise?
I know about the Jawbone, but was thinking about a hardwired BT setup. How good is the Parrot PS-7100 for use with the Epic?

Okay, did some looking around and figure the Parrot Mki-9200 should fit the bill. Anyone had any use with this model and the Epic?

Went to BestBuy last night and got the Parrot Mki-9200. Careful shopping on internet resulted in getting a 50% reduction in price: BB price = $399, my price $199. They also included basic installation, whatever that is.
Parrot is the leading supplier of OEM bluetooth systems to the automotive world. Who would ever thought a French company, heh.

I've used TheBoom by Umevoice. Works fine in my same car.
I use the Mki9000 in my Subaru (not a convertible, though), and it works quite well. Installation using a Quick Connect harness was easy (though my dashboard is easy to open), and there are no problems with the Epic. If you have trouble with the Epic, try disabling contact syncing.
Good luck and enjoy the great bluetooth setup!
Any word on how the Bluetooth setup worked? I had a Jeep that all bluetooth options were worthless in, so I got the TheBoom, which could handle it, but I'd be curious to see how things work in the C70.
why did you feel the need to brag about a volvo?
C70s are sick..... My girlfriend drives an '06, and they are far more sporty than people think.... I prefer to drive hers over my Audi A6, except on long trips.... Nice choice, let us know how that parrot works out....

They go faster than I ever want to go. Planning on driving across USA this summer with the top down doing a 100+
Dumped the Parrot for a Kenwood KDC-BT948HD which is getting installed Wed morning. Comes with latest Parrot OEM chips and a external mic. Made that change after calling Parrot and finding out that phone calls faster than 40 with top down was a non starter.

Let me know how that works out, I'd love to have a non-wired solution. Until then, I'll stick with the TheBoom.
So far so good on pairing to the Kenwood unit for one day. Lots of intereting settings and love that Epic phonebook gets dl to Kenwood unit.

Can the other people hear you? Can they tell you are in a car?

They hear me just fine unless I'm cruising down the highway at 40+ with the window or top down due to wind noise. If I roll up windows then they think I'm at home with the speaker phone on.

Just to give you a heads up all bt headsets are almost the same as far listening and mic technology goes. I know it says on the box its military grade but its marketing don't go wasting your money. Purchase soley on comfort of the earpiece.

That's why I went with TheBoom originally. People couldn't tell I was in my Jeep! It works because the mic has to be less than 1 inch from the face. They don't have Bluetooth headsets that do that because its not "stylish". But people can hear and understand me in my car with the top down using it. The Jeep was too much because of the poor aerodynamics making wind hit the mic too much, but cleaner aerodynamics on regular convertibles work fine.
I use the ZAGG SmartBuds for noise canceling for NonBT mic.
I would like to get a Bluetooth hands-free speaker to use in my car. I want use it for phone calls and text messaging. I have been looking at the Motorola Roadster 2 and was wondering if anyone has used it and what your opinion was before I spent the money. I am open to all suggestions if you have tried other hands-free speakers. I currently have a Incredible 2 using CM10, or CM7 and I am thinking about getting a Galaxy Nexus.
Any suggestions?
They haven't officially released yet, but the Vers 1Q are amazing pieces of hardware.
Hello Group,
I would like a few suggestions on which Bluetooth to use on my S5. I just got the Samsung HM1300 and after trying it out I really don't care for it.
It paired up with S5 with no problem but the actual earpiece volume is weak IMO and I would like one that actually gets loud any suggestions folks?
Thanks

I like my Jabra Clear.. However headsets are kind of a personal thing. What fits for one person may not be good for another - a friend of mine was raving about his Jawbone, so I originally bought one of those, but I didn't like how it felt. IMO you need to just find a store with a good return policy and start buying/trying/returning until you find one you like. Just make sure when you return it, you tell them it's broken - otherwise they'll probably just stick it back on the shelf and some unsuspecting sap will get a dose of your ear potatoes.
Hello Folks!
Maybe thats a dumb question, but why not?
So this is the situation...I have an really old and big TV at home, which only has RCA Inputs. As I watch a lot videos on youtube/other websites, I was wondering how to get these videos on the TV for maximum comfort
So this day I found an old TRRS->RCA Cable back from my Nokia N95, which seemed to work (checked it with a measuring instrument; it's the OMTP Standard). Looks like this.
I was enthusiastic and plugged it in, turned the TV on - the sound was running nicely, but there was no video. Ok; I thought 'maybe it's only a software issue and I have to share the Nexus' screen anywhere'...but I could not find it.
So I was browsing the whole afternoon to find a solution and I found this on reddit. I know, that this was possible with an old Galaxy S and some HTC Devices.
Is it true, that the TRRS Jack in our Nexus 5 can only be used for Microphones?
Is there no way to say the device via software to use that ring on the TRRS as video output?
Does anyone know if the board is configured or is it hard-wired only to work like this?
I'm running newest OmniRom 4.4.4 Nightly.
Please don't say "buy a new TV ans use HDMI, buy these, buy that"...as I'm a poor student I don't want to spend a lot money
(been thinking about buying the new RasPi which has exactly this feature, but I don't know how good video streaming is working with this one...)
Hello all...
I have been looking for a stereo/front facing dual speaker phone for a while now to replace my old rooted Lenovo K3 note. I wanted to try out the 3d Glasses thing and also be able to stream programs on my phone whilst sat in my car during my lunch break and get a decent volume of sound! I did get a ZTE Axon Elite, but stupidly didn't do my usual thorough amount of research and found it only had one speaker at the bottom... doh!!! It's going on ebay...
I have been searching for something else, does anyone have any good recommendations in the region of $200ish. My missus already has the Axon mini which has the stereo speakers, but we can't have the same phones... :silly:
Thanks.
Pick up an old but goodie HTC M8
