Mobile data won't turn on - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hi guys! My mobile data doesn't turn back on if I spend a charge cycle connected to wi-fi, I'm wondering if you've gone through it.
I didn't have this problem with stock Froyo, CatyROM or ZEUS. But with several of Entropy's CM9 (flashing from factory-reset / Heimdall One-click) and also with the latest CM10 8/11 I'm getting the following problem:
If my phone spends several hours on wi-fi, and I turn wi-fi off or go outside its range, then I can't get a mobile connection (neither 3G nor EDGE) again. The only way to get 3G again is turning airplane mode on and then off. The problem is very replicable.
This happened both with AT&T SIM and a Brazilian operator SIM.
(didn't post on the ROMs threads because it's across ROMs, but feel free to move if it's more appropriate)

Suggest Heimdall.
When you reflash JB, be sure to remove sd card and remember to format/system.

I did this before [AT&T][2.3.6]Heimdall One-Click Back-To-Stock UCKJ4 + Easy CWM install, to flash the GB bootloader.
Now I just followed these steps:
1) used SGH_I997-ICS-Kernel-One-Click.jar (the one Scott pointed at in the CM10 OP)
2) wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik
3) formatted /system
Got some warnings:
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
And an error:
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/st19
Error formatting /system!
4) I started from scratch: installed UCLB3 FIRMWARE and flashed Entropy's 4.4.2012 kernel all using Heimdall (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25526643&postcount=2)
5) Repeated steps 1, 2 and 3
6) Flashed cm-10-20120816-UNOFFICIAL-infuse4g
7) Flashed justinbean 8-7.zip
Rebooted again to system. I will check how things work tomorrow and report.
Thanks!

Very good... look forward to good news :good: Regards.

Unfortunately no change in the behavior: when I turned wi-fi off this morning, mobile data didn't connect. But if I turn airplane mode on-off then it will work.
The notification drawer mobile-data button also shows a strange behavior. When I click it, it doesn't switch its own status, but when I click any other button in the area (for instance, GPS on/off or Brightness) then it will change its status at the same time as the other button. This behavior only happens when I have wi-fi turned on.
I would be more than happy to provide logs if its useful. Just tell me what would help.
Thanks!!

I installed the rom and gapps that you mentioned and can't duplicate the problem. I had a similar problem on another rom a couple of months ago except it was wifi not mobile data. I went to settings to enable it or rebooted and was ok.
I have read a little this morning in the CM 10 thread and there is at least one other user with the same issue, so far no solution, guess because it is kinda isolated. Another user did fix theirs by reflashing. Sometimes an issue can be fixed by 4 or 5 reflashes, idk about this one. You may want to post this in the Q & A specific to this rom and give it a little time for response. If none perhaps pm the OP- he is a very helpful person. Regards.

Weird thing is that the exact same behavior happens with my wife's Infuse. And it's sticky over several reflashes on both phones.
I'll follow your advice and post on scott's CM10 thread. Meanwhile if someone else experiences this, it would be good to know.
Thanks!

Help: EFS Not Mounting After Flash

I've been running CM7 for a month or so and I started having some stability problems. So I decided to try DarkyRom.
I did everything like normal (used heimdall).
Upon boot it had an error.
Failed to mount /efs while applying multi-csc.
I'm dead in the water. I tried to flash back to stock. I get an error and thrown into samsung recovery. I can reboot from that and I boot to the gui with no radio. Phone info says "Unknown" Hardware and Baseband Version.
No. I did not backup any EFS (news to me). I do have access to the same model phone, my son has one he just uses as a fancy MP3 player (no phone/data plan).
Is there anything I can do? I did use the ADB Shell and ran "mount" to see if the EFS was mounted. It was a negative...
-MT
Could this have something to do with the file system?
I don't have CWM working. I'm going to work on that. Right now I juast have Samsung Rec. Utils. The error that is in there is:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (Invalid argument)

First off,are you even on the right forum? Darky rom isn't built for this phone so it's not going to work.

Ugh...an unfortunate response. Yes...I'm on the right forum.
I did make a CWM backup from a couple weeks ago. Not sure if that helps.

Them why are you flashing roms from other forums/phones? Use odin and check repartition.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
*hangs head* Admonishment accepted. I really don't know what I was thinking.
Here is my progress. I tried using Odin to just Re-partition. No go.
<ID:0/003> Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1455)
So then I downloaded stock EC10 (That was factory on my phone). I flashed that via Odin with "Success".
The same error as initially posted was on the phone. I rebooted from the stock recovery console and I was able to boot. 3g works. The hardware and baseband are now accurate. I'm getting a lot of force closes however. The twlauncher is constantly crashing.
So now the phone is semi-functional but there are still errors. (I was getting more forces than normal in CM7 that caused me to dive into this process in the first place).
I could be way off base but I'm thinking that possibly there is corruption (or wrong file system?) problems with the internal SD (I did format the External SD at the start of this).
I appreciate your help. Any suggestions from here?

Additional Note: Settings are not saved between reboots.
-Rooted
-Installed ROM Manager
-Installed CWM 3
-Reboot into Recovery Mode
No go. Same /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 error (installation aborted)
The 3e recovery also says:
"your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions."
I tried both wipes. Errors.

Use the full odin restore package and make sure you use pit and pda files. Repartition must be checked. Wiping data might be a good idea as well.

I would odin the full mesmerize package EE19. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881064

If you've done that, then i'm at a loss. That usually is my solve-all solution... Sorry man.
Thank you much. Is it possible that I could have a faulty internal SD? I had suddenly started getting a lot of force closes in CM7. I guess I'm just wondering if I'm fighting two separate issues here. (My bonehead move vs. a real problem)
-MT
I think I'm FIXED!
I was finally (I don't know how) able to get Odin to Flash CWM 4 (The Blue one needed to install CM7).
I got ZERO errors in CWM. So I took the opportunity to clear caches, format data...I got destructive.
I then installed the CM7 Rom. -SUCCESS
Installed GAPPS - SUCCESS
I hope everything is OK at this point. I know CM7 is booting in about 20 seconds opposed to 5 minutes like it was before I decided to try to morph my phone into an I9000.
I actually saw the black screen with the little phone to PC icons at one point tonight. I think I came real close....
Thanks for your help!
PS: CONFIRMED mmcblk0p1 is mounted! (EFS, etc) PHEW!
I had this happen to me right after a Odin even did the rfs formatter tool exact same problems not saving settings upon reboot and it saying something along the lines of process.android.blah blah blah and double vibrate when booting before the fc anyhow I just reflashed miui to get cwm4 wiped everything reflashed cm7 no probs since

While you are waiting for the download - go ahead and do step one in that thead:
"Get the latest version of Java 1.6 from this link."
** Just so you understand - Froyo and GB have different bootloaders. If you were on Froyo and trying to flash GB without bootloaders - that is a problem. That is why - to be safe - you are downloading KJ6 WITH BOOTLOADERS so we know you will be good to go afterwards.
Make sure you refresh your browser so you can see my replies.

Since you have some time to kill -
Read these two threads start to finish:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529348
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515319
These are two people that did exactly what you are about to do.
---------- Post added at 04:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:55 PM ----------
When you are ready to get started:
USE A USB PORT YOU HAVE NOT PLUGGED YOUR PHONE INTO AT ALL AND THAT IS CONNECTED DIRECTLY TO YOUR COMPUTER (I.E. NOT A USB HUB OR ADDON PORTS)! DO NOT USE THE SAME PORT YOU TRIED TO USE ODIN WITH. DO NOT USE A PORT YOU MIGHT HAVE USED KIES MINI WITH. USE A PORT THAT YOU HAVE NEVER PLUGGED YOUR PHONE INTO DIRECTLY ON YOUR COMPUTER!
You will do this first:
- Get your phone in Download Mode
How to get into download mode:
Take your microUSB cable and plug it into the computer, but not the phone (yet).
Take out the battery from the phone.
Put the battery back into the phone.
Put the back cover back onto the phone, make sure it's snug so the battery doesn't fall out.
Hold vol + and -, keep holding them.
Plug the USB cable into the phone.
You should now be in download mode and should see a picture of a yellow triangle with Andy and a shovel in the middle.
Second:
- Run the Heimdall One-Click you downloaded using the directions in that thread:
Run: 'java -jar SMS-KJ6-beta2d_Stock-Rom_with_Bootloaders-One-Click.jar'
Third:
- You will need to install drivers. When doing the driver install make sure you go to "options" menu and make sure "list all devices" is checked. Then from the drop down menu choose "Samsung USB Composite device" and click the "install drivers" button and let it do its thing.
It will tell you whether it was successful or not.
Fourth:
- Heimdall should show you that your phone is connected:
See attached image.
If so - Select Flash.
Fifth:
- Your phone will reboot. You will hear Linda talk to you. Wait. Let me know if you get a rainbow screen. If not it will boot into CWM Recovery. If it does - select reboot system now and you will be good to go.
- If you see the rainbow screen - Let me know and we will proceed.
OK - I assume you are sitting on page one of the thread. I can't reply to you if you don't come to the second page. Sorry.
Thx for your help.
After all steps andflashing with Heimdall my phone rebooted to CVM recovery.
after reboot phone stop in message like in my first post.
What are you doing in CWM to get that message? And do you know if you were on Gingerbread or Froyo previously. Because if you were on Froyo you were not finished with Heimdall One-Click. You would need to flash a second time - checking flash bootloaders.
1.CWM is automatically loaded after a reboot.
2.Froyo was previously.
3."You would need to flash a second time - checking flash bootloaders." - already done.
Message appears after downloading new software with using heimdall and automatical reboot
Phone still freezes on startup.
Is it possible to connect terminal to mainboard? perhaps that will help to see diagnostic messages... and will give me a chance to understand the problem.....

If you correctly flashed KJ6 Heimdall One-Click WITH Bootloaders and that did not work -
Verify that you have a Samsung S 4G SGH - T959V for me. Look under the battery for the model number.
And to be clear - after flashing it will take a bit to boot your phone as things are being done to your phone during boot up. If you pulled battery too quickly that may affect it.
Lastly - "Message appears after downloading new software with using heimdall and automatical reboot" - Where is the message appearing? In Heimdall or on phone?
if you are still having issues, you can check the "Potential Problems" section of the guide in my signature (provided that you do indeed have the right phone model)

P1000 stuck at samsung logo and losing all settings

Hello everyone,
I have a Samsung P1000 GSM tablet which i purchased from Jeddah a few years ago.
Froyo started acting up and Samsung was not releasing any new firmware updates, and so i decided to root and move up to Gingerbread.
I installed 2.3.3 JPJPC and rooted and things were good.
After a while, i installed rom manager from the market, and installed the recovery for the wrong model due to ROM manager not having P1000 listed, which was a reckless move.
Since then, the TAB gets stuck on the samsung screen, and i can tell it is actually sort of trying over and over in an endless loop.
After a few reboots, it comes back, but losing all settings (home screen empty, phone book gone, SMSs gone), and it starts with the welcome wizard (language, packet data etc...).
The bootloader at that point was giving errors about not finding android_reboot and unable to load the mcc ...i'm sure you guys know them.
I read tons of threads about this, but no one actually mentioned that this problem is intermittent! And no definite solution...
Attempts:
I tried loading JPJPD (P1000JPJPD_P1000OJPJPE_P1000JXJP4_HOME.tar) via ODIN 1.7 using gt-p1000_mr_PIT and then dbdata, same thing.
I tried using P1_add_hidden.pit, same thing
I tried using GB-Stock-Safe-v5, same thing, moved again to JPJPD, same thing.
The interesting thing is even ODIN would FAIL the complete (write) then after 1 or 2 retries, it would work (same setup).
I also installed the recovery CF-Root-TAB7_XX_OXA_JQ1-v3.3-CWM3RFS, same thing.
At this stage the recovery works well, and so after each ODIN attempt I was wiping everything...
At this stage I'm trying to figure out if the P1000 is recyclable, organic, or waste!!!:crying:
Can anything be done to stabilize this TAB ?
Thank you,
Bassem
EDIT:
After posting, i entered recovery mode and found the errors i tried describing above have come back again:
"E:internal mmc : open fail
Internal MMC checksum verify failed
# MANUAL MODE#
-- Updating application...
E:failed to mount /preload (No such file or directory)
E:install_application_for_customer:can't mount /preload"
multi-CSC is ok
now when wiping /data:
"Formatting /data....
E:format_volume: rfs format failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2"
I am sure this will be fixed (which happed before) if i repeat the above steps, only to break again after a few reboots.

Samsung Galaxy i9000 cannot flash

Hi. Ok...long story short. Its not bricked. I can use it. Using it currently as a media player stripped of all non-essential system apps. Or so I thought.
Semaphore_2.5.0b
DarkyROM v10.4.2 XWJW1
Firmware 2.3.6
I uninstalled some apps. Nothing system critical or so I thought. The following errors are now happening:
1. Whenever I enable wireless or launch Play Store I get the Google Services Framework gapps has stopped unexpectedly error....a few times then it stops coming up.
2. My Windows 7 64bit says "USB Device not recognised"
3. Device Manager reports the device has an error
4. Unable to install drivers from anywhere, Windows says I already have the most upto date driver - probably from previous installs
5. Odin does not see the phone when connected even when its in Download Mode
6. Rebooting to CWM v5.0.2.7 gives the following list of errors:
E:failed to open /etc/recovery.fstab (No such file or directory)
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/log]
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/last_log]
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:unknown volume for path [/cache/recovery/command]
7. I can't Wipe or Factory Reset or any of those things because I get similar errors to the above, i.e. can't open, or can't mount, or unknown volume...etc
8. I can't install a zip from the SD Card because it won't mount the SD Card.
9. I can't mount the SD Card - it just returns to the main CWM screen and lists the above errors again.
I have exhausted my search on the internet. You guys are my last hope of redemption. So I'm just praying that someone out there has an answer and takes pity on my poor condemned soul before the flames get any higher!

Wouldn't the problem be fixed by attempting to install the rom via odin? I know you said it doesn't show up, my thoughts are that you should make sure you have the updated samsung kies drivers installed.
If that didn't I might consider updating CWMR and then reflashing?

Well that was a really really really unhelpful reply. Thank you though.
You might have noticed I can't connect the phone to Odin because Windows is not recognising the device and if you read my post you'd see I already tried reinstalling the drivers which are upto date as far as Windows is concerned.
Thanks though.

Brilliant. Very insightful. Maybe you shouldn't be using these forums if you can't provide support or at least a semblance of help instead of criticism and a holier than thou attitude. I'm assuming you're perfect.
I didn't think any of the apps were system critical. And I made that assumption as an ex-developer with over 15 years experience of low level assembler, C++ and Java development.
If you'd read my post properly you'd notice I can't flash or wipe.
But thanks though. It's nice to know people like you are still plaguing the forums.

Frozen Memory Problem Caused By Prey(Phone Finding Software)

Hello Everyone
its almost a year since I got this problem and after all this time I still couldnt find a solution to it and I hope this description of it will end this once and for all.
Problem: The device has a memory of a certain day. Everytime I work with it, I remove some files and apps and install new ones. But next time i start the tablet the new ones are gone and the old ones are returned and smiling at me!
Things I have done: --Trying Not to get Insane-- I tried to flash device with different ROMS and Kernels even the stock ones. but even after a successfull rom installation, device gets back to its certain day ROM and memory!
Cause: After taking it to soooo many repair centers, finally one of them told me it was caused by a software called "Prey", This software is for finding your lost Android/Ios device, it has a feature called "Prevent uninstallations" which makes it unable to uninstall. Now that i try, I can uninstall it with my previous username/password but everything is the same after one restart....
gosh that was the story guys. In last year, good people of XDA tried to help me but I did not have the proper info, you can follow the conversations here
still any help is appreciated.
PS: Everytime I choose to wipe data/factory reset the device, get this message;
cant mount /cache/recovery/command
cant mount /cache/recovery/log
cant open /cache/recovery/log
cant mount /cache/recovery/last_log
cant open /cache/recovery/last_log
