Sprint can't activate my rooted phone?

So my girlfriend walked into a sprint store to activate my old evo 4g. The sprint guy was cool, saw that it was running miui and showed her that his personal phone was also running miui. He said he couldn't activate the phone though because it was rooted. She said he tried three times and it wasn't possible because it was rooted. Anyone else had this issue? Thanks.
Sent from my Nexus S 4g using Tapatalk
A rooted phone shouldn;t be an issue but the fact that you're running a custom rom is. You're gonna have to go back to a stock rom in order to activate.

yes you just need a rom that has EPST, so you can update the data profile and use the dialer codes. Once it's activated on your number you can flash whatever you'd like

How can you tell if it has the EPST.apk?
Easiest way is go to the dialer and type ##3282# if a menu opens you have it

S3 - Not registed on Network after Jelly Bean Flash

I'm getting a Not Registered On Network error on my phone since I tried the official Jelly Bean update.
The IMEI seems to ave changed too and I've a serial number of 00000000
I had a look at other threads but this only happen after I did the flash - I've tried going back to stock but it seems to be there too
Theres an official jellybean update for this device? *headscratch*
I'm going to assume you flashed the update for the international variant on your d2vzw. Odin back to stock.

No, there are several unofficial Jellybean roms for our phone. They are based on the T-Mobile leak from a while back. We're a ways away from an official jellybean OTA. The OP wouldn't be able to boot their phone and discover their IMEI changed/phone number reset had they flashed an international rom.

Sadly you flashed an international rom. Sorry. I thought this would be a hard brick. But since you can boot you can odin back to stock.

Its not a hard brick since he is able to boot up, but beyond that IDK. OP, when you said you tried stock and still no go, did you mean that you used Odin to flash a stock image? If not, that is your best bet.
As long as you can odin back to stock and you have a Verizon device, there is a tool in the dev sections stickies that can restore your IMEI even without a backup.
Now that u r back to stock do a search for IMEI restore on xda to restore your phone.
For future reference note that there are several GS3 variants and u can only flash the one specific to your carrier if u want to have a functional device. The international version doesn't even have the same processor.

THanks for all the pointers - I'm a bit confused though and possibly I haven't given enough info...
The S3 was originally running on AP i9300xxalef CP i9300xxlef CSC 19300OJVALEC and it was rooted - I'm in Ireland so it appears to be an international phone.
I can't get a product code because when I try it gives me NOt Registered On Network
Previously when ever I tried to update it via Keis I never could and it always showed the serial as 000000000 I also think the IMEI as different.
I did try to flash it previously and it failed I but it kept working - So I wonder could the IMEI switch have come from that - as I do seem to remember the 000000000 from before I tried Jelly Bean.
If I put it back on the same AP CP and CSC would it work again - and how would I go about it?
Thnaks
Brought it back to the original firmware - and getting a no signal icon now!
I don't know of any tool for the international model's Exynos that is like the tool for the Qualcomm processor.
Everything I've seen, says in order to restore it on the Exynos processor, you need to have backed up your EFS folder. There are a couple threads in the International GS2 forum (not the GS3 forum) detailing how to repair it, but that entails you having have backed up your EFS folder.
Not sure if there is a way to fix the problem if you are able to get the IMEI number from your box or behind the battery.
Edit: I just did some googling and found there is some kind of Samsung tool for repairing it. There are a couple youtube videos that I found as well. Some tec site is claiming that once you restore to stock, you get a new EFS folder on your phone and although the information will be incorrect inside of it, you may be able to edit it. You would have better luck in the international forums though if you have an international phone.

You guys are missing what I am asking for. There use to be a app in the play market by [email protected] called Phone Info. Not the normal phone info that comes with the stock rom. This app use to allow you to change the mode on your phone from the CDMA to GSM if you had a the sch-i535. About 2 weeks ago they deleted it from the market, and now I need it. I just need someone with that .apk file.

This.
Or Just do the OTA to Jellybean! Is there a reason you didn't do it? That option was only enabled in 4.1
if you still want it...
I found out that you don't need it just go into settings/more settings/mobile networks/network mode and there you go you can change to global LTE/CDMA or GSM/UMTS
Net Monitor Worked for me instead of Phone info.
I am running CM 10.1 nightly.
The *#*#4636#*#* brought up the ability to change the mode to GSM, but if i go into settings/more settings/mobile networks/network mode I only have ' LTE/CDMA/EvDo' and 'CDMA/EvDo auto.'
I am travelling to UK, Italy and Spain next week so I am trying to ensure this will work. I will be staying with the Verizon SIM and incurring the roaming charges (business phone) and won't be using another SIM.
Thoughts?
want to change from cdma to gsm also

Sprint Note 5 on MetroPCS

I have a rooted Sprint Note 5 with the "Speed Racer" rom installed with TWRP. Before I left Sprint I requested to have my phone unlocked and it went through w/o a problem. However, yesterday when I went to MetroPCS and threw their SIM in my card I thought everything was going ok.
I realize now that although I have full data and text messaging I can't receive or make phone calls. I tried different APN settings and changed from LTE/CDMA to AUTOMATIC but none of that has worked. I even tried calling MetroPCS but they weren't able to get it up and running either. I need the know how of the XDA community to help me out please. Will give a small donation to someone if they can get me through this!

Is that a GSM sim? Install https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.mangelow.network&hl=en netwrok apk, and see if you can choose GSM/WCDMA mode on it. If not you have to flash a custom rom to get all GSM functions and get rid off sprint stuff.

Thanks for the reply man. I did download that app and there were a lot of options but GSM/WCDMA wasn't one of them. I'll take your advice and try another rom

Hey, is there maybe another option on that app that may work? I tried downloading this DarthVader ROM on the T-Mobile forum that was supposed to be somewhat universal and during the Aroma installation you had to choose between Tmboile or International version. After choosing the TMobile version it loaded up but it didn't give me any network options at all.
Can you maybe advise a good rom that may work?

You cannot flash a Tmobile or International rom just like that... unless built for N920P
Download this rom https://www.fshare.vn/file/PRC6K2C8S4UP
This fix 1 https://www.fshare.vn/file/DZMSWWJPO2VZ
Fix 2 https://mega.nz/#!xc1TlKqS!ylDEK24P-hIzuSjj3kdPRNOclCcFWnx-22lH2eRLPDw
Fix 3 https://mega.nz/#!dQ9GRQqB!_tK2J2HeoNwTMetKlYms4PbaesT23UQGXwvw8R23QNs
Wipe full in twrp (cache/dalvic/data/system)
Flash 4 files in TWRP one by one.. then reboot. First boot may take upto 10min.. don't worry.
You may need to add an APN.
And you may use Linksvip.net to get High speed links from fshare site (if original site is slow.)
https://samsungvn.com/threads/n920p-g928p-n920x-g928x-rom-grace-ux.18617/ link to ROM page if u need.

Ok, I'm in the process of downloading the ROM. 2 hour ETA. The Linksvip.net file was apparently removed. I'm going to make this my last resort for this phone. If this doesn't work this thing is going on Ebay!

How did you do that exactly?
Can you please explain to me step by step how you do that...all parts after flashing the MOAR ROM. Much appreciated!
my bad bro flash moar rom then open phone app and enter ##data# or ##3282# it will give you options to change stuff like the radio band order sprints is the top 3 until you change the order .
