I'm getting a Not Registered On Network error on my phone since I tried the official Jelly Bean update.
The IMEI seems to ave changed too and I've a serial number of 00000000
I had a look at other threads but this only happen after I did the flash - I've tried going back to stock but it seems to be there too
Theres an official jellybean update for this device? *headscratch*
I'm going to assume you flashed the update for the international variant on your d2vzw. Odin back to stock.

In the dev section there is a tutorial on how to backup and restore your IMEI. I still *knock on wood* haven't run into that issue yet.

Did you properly backup your IMEI as described in several threads in the development section? If so, restoring your IMEI is simple.

No, there are several unofficial Jellybean roms for our phone. They are based on the T-Mobile leak from a while back. We're a ways away from an official jellybean OTA. The OP wouldn't be able to boot their phone and discover their IMEI changed/phone number reset had they flashed an international rom.

Sadly you flashed an international rom. Sorry. I thought this would be a hard brick. But since you can boot you can odin back to stock.

Its not a hard brick since he is able to boot up, but beyond that IDK. OP, when you said you tried stock and still no go, did you mean that you used Odin to flash a stock image? If not, that is your best bet.
As long as you can odin back to stock and you have a Verizon device, there is a tool in the dev sections stickies that can restore your IMEI even without a backup.
Now that u r back to stock do a search for IMEI restore on xda to restore your phone.
For future reference note that there are several GS3 variants and u can only flash the one specific to your carrier if u want to have a functional device. The international version doesn't even have the same processor.

THanks for all the pointers - I'm a bit confused though and possibly I haven't given enough info...
The S3 was originally running on AP i9300xxalef CP i9300xxlef CSC 19300OJVALEC and it was rooted - I'm in Ireland so it appears to be an international phone.
I can't get a product code because when I try it gives me NOt Registered On Network
Previously when ever I tried to update it via Keis I never could and it always showed the serial as 000000000 I also think the IMEI as different.
I did try to flash it previously and it failed I but it kept working - So I wonder could the IMEI switch have come from that - as I do seem to remember the 000000000 from before I tried Jelly Bean.
If I put it back on the same AP CP and CSC would it work again - and how would I go about it?
Thnaks
Brought it back to the original firmware - and getting a no signal icon now!
I don't know of any tool for the international model's Exynos that is like the tool for the Qualcomm processor.
Everything I've seen, says in order to restore it on the Exynos processor, you need to have backed up your EFS folder. There are a couple threads in the International GS2 forum (not the GS3 forum) detailing how to repair it, but that entails you having have backed up your EFS folder.
Not sure if there is a way to fix the problem if you are able to get the IMEI number from your box or behind the battery.
Edit: I just did some googling and found there is some kind of Samsung tool for repairing it. There are a couple youtube videos that I found as well. Some tec site is claiming that once you restore to stock, you get a new EFS folder on your phone and although the information will be incorrect inside of it, you may be able to edit it. You would have better luck in the international forums though if you have an international phone.

I had my S3 replaced today becuase the power/lock button broke. When the vzw rep. brought out my replacement device it had a sticker on the phone that said updated. After activating and checking the building number I can confirm that VZW is updating their stock to a newer version. My current build number is I535VRALG1 and baseband is I535VRLG1. Does any one know if I can flash the previous version in Odin. I am afraid that they might have done this to block our current root method. This is the first I have heard about this current build.
Wanna help us out on IRC?

any idea on what the update is?

Radios are unknown at the moment (most likely can flash update no problem, not sure about flashing downgrade). However boot animations ARE part of the rom, just FYI. Also kernels are flashable as well, just has to be done through a workaround method.
It probably takes away the search the whole phone function of S-Voice and some other small updates.

Was just about to post the same thing actually. I just had my phone exchanged today and got the UPDATED sticker on it. Haven't tried to root it yet, though. Was going to wait a while to see if this topic came up/new update gets rooted. I really don't want to mess with it either. Just popped in to say that I got the same updated phone.
My co-worker received his phone yesterday and wanted me to root it for him, but it showed "updated" as well - new build/baseband number. To be safe I decided to hold off on rooting till we get some sort of confirmation.

Pretty sure it'll work, it doesn't really matter if you're going to end up flashing a custom rom; but it's all preference maybe if you want the new modems just take the update.

Just root. The newest update had signal and battery issues, along with many other issues. Verizon even pulled the OTA. Flashing a newer ROM will give you the newer features anyways, and it will be better.

It was incredibly easy. Only thing that tripped me up at first was that I didn't have the Samsung drivers installed on my PC. Since the thread didn't mention installing them I was assuming they weren't needed. You can get them here. Once I installed them and went through the steps in the thread, I was rooted and unlocked in a few seconds.

Hi,
Yesterday, I had an update from 4.1.1. to 4.1.2. I'm running the stock rom. After I ran in the update, I re-rooted using CF-Auto Root.
Today, I thought I'd do a factory reset. Now, my phone won't detect any SIM card (I've tried 2) and although it seems to detect my wifi, it won't connect.
I had the phone on airplane mode when I selected the factory reset, but I wouldn't have thought that would matter.
Interestingly, I can now select airplane mode to turn on, but it then ghosts out and I can't turn it off.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Please help!
I'm inclined to think this is a software problem as both sim and wifi worked perfectly before the factory reset.
I've tried registering with SamMobile to download the stock rom, but their registration page seems to be wonky. It complains I haven't completed the anti-spam task, but this area of the form is just blank.

There's your problem!
The difference between the regular Galaxy model and the T variant is the modem. Telstra 'tweak' it on a hardware level for their NextG network and it means that the performance of the modem is affected to varying degrees (severe in your case) if you use a non 'T' modem.
There should be a modems thread, there should be a N7105T modem. I'll have a look and post back if I find one.

BOOM!
TDVDMB1 (Australia / Telstra) N7105TDVDMB2

Either of these should work, keep them to flash after you reflash a rom onto your phone

I've tried flashing the modem but unfortunately it had no effect.
I don't have the phone on me so I can't confirm this, but I'm starting to have scary thoughts about the efs. Unfortunately the only changes I've ever made to my Androids was just to root, and I didn't even know what the efs was.
Thing is, after my update my phone worked fine for over 24 hours before I reset it. Does this sound like the efs? How can I tell if that's the problem?
I guess I had to learn somehow, and I've definitely learnt ...
Would it be possible for me to get a copy of an efs folder from another Note 2 and adapt it to mine?
For anyone else who may come across this, I solved the problem by downloading the stock ROM from sammobile and flashing that.
I have also now flashed TWRP and have taken a nandroid including the EFS.
We all have to start somewhere, but hopefully my bad experience will prevent someone else's.

You cannot downgrade from 4.3 . Once you take the 4.3 update, everything is locked. If you try to unlock or downgrade you will get a bricked phone which cannot be recovered

i couldn't get Odin 3.07 or 3.09 to work along with kies so what i did was, I went into a verizon retailer and told them that i took the OTA update to 4.3 and while it was installing my phone for some reason rebooted and when it rebooted it came to the "firmware upgrade encountered issue. please use software repair assistant & try again". they had never seen that message before and bought the story. so as result my phone is still indeed bricked but they took it as a factory defect and I am currently awaiting a new one in the mail. Iwould recomend doing that and not haveing a S3 for 2-5 days or wait for an exploit to come out for versin 4.3. Hopefully this helps.

Personally I think they really didn't care if it was insurance fraud or not, they don't want to lose a customer, remember they have you on contract... If the phone said the warranty was still valid which comes up on the screen that informs that there was a problem installing firmware, then there has been no fraud committed. No reason to bash on other members and call them names.

Dont know why updating then downgrading, when 4.3 is running awesome and it has more features than any 4.1 rom for the gs3. I unrooted and installed 4.3, and it was the best choice I made cause now battery life is excellent, and I get almost all the features that the s4 has. Ive been rooting android phones since I had a android. When tw 4.3 gets rooted im sure they will come with a unroot version that will unbrick you. You should have done more reading and research out of all the post explaining not to attempt to root or downgrade. You should have only upgraded if you didnt care about being stuck on 4.3

So i have a Canadian Galaxy Note 3 (Sm900w8) and i decided to root it. It is the first thing i've rooted so i'm a total noob. I wanted to get rid of some of the samsung bloatware so i deleted it with some app but it wouldn't let me restore it after. Only then did i realize that i wouldn't be able to receive ota updates so i want to find out how to get it back to stock when the day comes that the next update for the note 3 comes. So i did a factory reset thinking that it would bring back the stuff i deleted which it obviously didn't. I've been told that i have to "Flash the factory image" or something like that so i've been looking for the stock firmware for my carrier but i just cant find it. My carrier is MTS ( a manitoba carrier). If someone could please tell me where to find the firmware for MTS and maybe walk me through how to flash it that would be amazing! keep in mind i'm a total noob

Thanks for the reply! the website you gave has a bunch of firmware options but none of them are carrier specific. what exactly has to match for it to be compatible? the version of the firmware on the website matches the baseband version on my phone, is that all that needs to match?
