Sensation Z710e resets sometimes - HTC Sensation

In past I had the Insertcoin rom, in the beginning it seemd ok, but then suddenly my phone reseted sometimes, I also have it with the recent OrDroid 9.0.0.
When taking a picture it sometimes resets or cannot do anything more. Anyone had the same problem or knows the solution ?
I work with the latest Radio_11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M and also one of the latest firmwares.
Could this be because of the radio, and if the case : which stable recent radio(s) are recommended ?

You can try several generic ics radio/ril files and see what works best for you. Radios are difficult to recommend because we all live in different areas and what works for me might not work at all for you. So you will have to do some experimenting on your own to see which is best for your area! The generic ics radio/ril files are a good place to start . I hope this helps you out and I wish you the best! Good luck to you. I'm sure you will find a good radio/ril combo for your area!

Thanks, I just flashed that lightning rom and the same unexpected resets.
I'll check where I can find the radio roms for my Sensation.
If it's not the radio, it will probably be the firmware... or maybe the kernel??? I used the bricked kernel, maybe i'll try the faux or the other.

[Q] Flashed (wrong) radio image - battery drainage

Hi all
Noticed heavy battery drainage (on standby mostly) after flashing Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1 and Saga_Telstra_WWE_1.36.841.3 from LBC's list of available radios.
My original baseband version was 20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.15_M
Any ideas on how to get that back? Attached pic of original configuration.
Wouldn't mind flasing a whole ROM but I'd rather flash just the radio image.
Should I try somethin like RUU_Saga_Virgin_Mobile_1.31.351.1_Radio_20.28b.30. 0805U_38.03.02.15_M_release
or RUU_Saga_Vodafone_UK_1.32.161.1_Radio_20.28b.30.08 05U_38.03.02.15_M_release.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
p.s. I'm on stock ROM and loving it!
The radio u use (screen) is none of the radios offered on xda-dev. I think your flashing was not successful.
I suggest you flash the Radio_20.28d.30.0805U_3805.04.02.01 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111911.
Don't forget:
rename the zip to PG88IMG, reboot into bootloader, flash it, normal reboot and rename the zip again.

Hello, and thank you for such a quick reply.
That's exactly what I did Flashed what you just suggested. Attached pic.
My battery used to stay at same percentage overnight with original radio. Think there's sometin wrong with my flashing? Tried different custom roms, radio stays the same.
Should I then use one of the RUUs I mentioned?
Thanks
Radios don't depend on any rom. Custom roms don't come with any radio, they maybe only depend on a specific radio (and upper Versions). You always have to flash another radio by yourself.
Battery drainage is not radio-related in most cases. The common reason for battery-drainage is a misconfiguration in the settings (brightness, battery calibration etc.) or a bad kernel.
You should be fine with the radio you've just flashed and you should be able to use any rom with it - stock or custom. Don't forget to use battery-friendly settings, if you changed your rom.
I might be all wrong about the whole radio business but I know they are area dependant. Can't just be that?
And does the flashing of the forementioned RUUs bring back my good ol' radio?
Thanks again
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
AFAIK radio are not area-related. The radio from the chinese Stock-Rom is just newer than the radio shipped with european Rom.

I don't think so. But good luck trying =)
Thanks neomis
Point is my current setup is just a nandroid backup of my stable configuration from my first week of use (when battery should have been worse during the first cycles)...
The only thing I changed was the radio and you can see that in the thumbnails I attached. I know most the battery saving tricks and it is calibrated.
I'll try those RUUs even if I was unbranded and I'll let you know. If ur interested...
Thanks for ur patience

wow, i think your battery reading was wrong
but if it was correct then that is really really great

Ok. Flashed Vodafone UK. I'll let u know how it went

Ok. This is starting to look like the captain's log
Managed to get back to my original settings
What I did is I flashed RUU SAGA UK and got my radio back ;-)
Moreover... I restored the nandroid backup from my 1st week and here's me back to the original configuration.
Wait... there's more ))
Having achieved what I wanted, I thought... Why not keep Vodafone UK version, cause it's the radio I wanted plus it's got a newer software version. Personal victory, I know
What's this radio thing anyways? Are the any other phone manufacturers using separate radios?
Pretty new to the whole Android customization (used to have a Defy which I simply loved!) but couldn't find much information on radios... Newer is better...that's all I could gather. It's very messy IMHO.
Still need to report back on battery consumption anyways, in case anyone is interested...
i'd be interested so please give a shout when you see some changes
Fully charged last and after 8 hrs of standby and lil bit of browsing in the morning still @ 100%

Think we got somethin here
Ye all be very carefull! I'm not saying a different radio image can improve your battery life. Quite the opposite. There's plenty of other reasons for battery drain. Hope no one will start flashing radio images untill we get an answer. There's people saying it's very dangerous to flash radio images and could lead to brickage!? (is there such a term ))
And NO a nandroid backup does not restore your radio image!
cheers

newer radio generally have a newer version of the drivers for wifi, your network, etc
so it may increase your battery life and give you better signal reception
but a newer version may not always be better because different radios perform differently in different regions
even if it gives a less battery drain the difference is very small
& also flashing a radio is more risky than flashing ROMs
so if you are fine with your current radio i would say dont replace it

Thank you for your answer. I won't.
As there seems to be other people looking into this radio business (as I was myself) I think we can conclude saying that flashing a different radio is a dangerous thing to do and doesn't necessarily improve your battery life.

I agree that flashing radios can be dangerous.but, from previous device experience do know that flashing different and not always the latest radios can improve battery life/usage

Also agree with every thing that you said.

Apology for accidental double post
cutsom roms are without radio image, RUU's have them.
latest radio doesn't mean it's the best one. I've got problems with latest radio on my desire s so I went back to the original one. Now I'm on Telstra and it seems to be bit better than the original and no problem so far.
this is like alchemy, not all phones likes all the radios with all roms you have to find the perfect combination for you

nothing that I can say will be relevant to what may happen to your device and your battery consumption, as it depends on so many other external factors, location, usage, type & strength of mobile signals and networks where you live and use your phone.
So it's basically suck it and see, eg try it for yourself.
As I believe has been said above once already you'll find more battery savings through the various other settings on the device along with usage patterns.

If it's not under warranty anymore, you could try flashing a custom ROM. I don't believe you will look back!

[Q] Wireless network not detected

Hi Folks!
I've just installed this ROM (first time I do stuff like this...I may be an IT guy but I am an absolute NOOB on android ROMs world)
Reaper V4.0 ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1433816
I wanted to post my question on that thread but I could not because this is my first post so I hope you can help me here
So I´ve installed that ROM, I am not sure if I like it yet but there is something absolutely important not working and if I cannot fix it I doubt I will ever find out if I like it.....I just cannot connect to my home wireless network!
Basically when I see the list of networks available I see all my neighbours networks but not mine! And I've been connecting to it normally until 1 hour ago when I had my htc Desire S with its original OS.
Do you guys have any idea why I could possibly see other networks but not mine?
Thank you all in advance for reading!
Cheers
U could try a few things, clearing the phone's cache and dalvik in recovery.
Or you could try fiddling with your router, a reset might do the trick.

I reset the router but did not help. It should not be related to the router anyway...
I wiped cache and dalvik cache also but did not help
I am seriously considering replacing this ROM immediately with another one...It's useless like this (I've also googled and found no relevant content that could help).
My htc Desire S is still S-ON but unlocked with the official htcdev unlocking.
Any suggestion for some stable (and possibly more modern...this one is gingerbread) ROM that I could get?
Cheers and thank you rain for your help

If you like Sense ROMs, I suggest Desire XS, pretty stable and VERY fast.
I am using Andromadus CM10.1 latest build and I haven't had issues yet.
Else you can consider flashing MIUI ROMs, that have very pretty UI and provide a good user experience. Try for yourself and see which ROM suits for you.

Right now I am installing (I actually did) this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679125
It's supposed to be for desire one but modified to work on desire s.
Installation was fine but it's now stuck on a white screen with htc one logo (and a logo in the bottom saying "beatsaudio"
Crossing my fingers to see if it moves from there!
If not I will definitely try one of the ROMs you suggested....if I did not brick the phone of course!
EDIT: It moved from the white sceen and seems to be working....Will be giving this ROM an opportunity....if not will try one of the ones you mentioned...
Good thing the wifi works on this one at least

[Q] Flashing Radio Viper 3.2.7 on OneXL, worth it? And 2 Noob-Questions

Greetings guys
I'm running ViperXL 3.2.7 since yesterday and i love it! After browsing the HUB i noticed, that there are several Radio's available for my phone.
Is it worth it to Flash a new Radio, or ist it just an unnecessary risk?
And my two other Questions are:
1.
I also read in ViperXL Topic about WiFi Partition's. Never heard of that before and Google don't want to tell me what it is. Could one of you Guys explain what "JB WiFi Partition Update" will do to my Phone?
2.
When I want to Update on Viper 3.2.8, do i have to clear Cache or Dalvik? Or am I able to load it via "Check for System-Updates" on my phone and just install it.
Im very anxious that my HTC will brick when I do something wrong.
So please, don't be that hard to me. I'm a newbie.
And furthermore my english is also not that great
Thanks for your time, mates!
Regards,
Kureno
The need to flash radios all depends on how your current radio is working. For instance: is your signal strength ok? Is your battery drain acceptable? If your answer to these questions is yes, then you probably don't need to flash a radio. But if you're struggling with signal problems, testing a few different radios is a good idea. Flash one and note the signal strength, flash another and note the signal strength, and so on until you find one that works best in your area.
In regards to your question about the WiFi partition update, if your WiFi is working ok you don't need to do it. If you're getting reboots when using WiFi then you might want to try it.
And, I usually download the OTA update from the thread and flash it manually, basically because I don't trust OTAs. And I always wipe cache and dalvik cache, it can't hurt.

Thank you for your help!
Regarding my Signal-Strength, I think it's okay. But my location and my weather report doesn't update automatically.
HTC Weather is always telling me: "No Data for your location".
But when I click on Update, it updates my location and my weather report.
And when i start my phone, it takes a while until i have a Signal for telephoning or sending sms.
Can those issues be fixed by flashing a new Radio? Or do I just have to live with them?
I had the same problems with weather while using the Viper ROM, but I haven't used it in a while. The length of time it takes to have a usable signal upon boot will not get any faster by changing radios, at least I don't think it will.

Vipers ROM and data speed

I'm new to this rooting business and after a slow start I managed to Root and flash my first ROM at the weekend. I used Vipers 1.6.3 which, after some research, I gather is a pretty old version. I'm still impressed though even if it is some of their older work but the one issue I've been having is with my mobile data speed. I haven't been getting anything above E/G speed wise and I've found it quite frustrating. I'm gonig to update to version 3.1.4. when I get back home but do you think this will resolve the issue? Is there a setting or something that I need to be aware of that controls maximum data speed.
Sorry if this is a complete noob question but I'm doing my best with searches and guides but I'm not finding anything particulary helpful.

OK would the latest radio's not have been included inthe zip files then?
I was going to download the rom from this thread..

I can't see any information about radio's in there. It does mention about ICS non compatible kernals. This is confusing me further. How do I know what kernal I'm currently on. Once again.....sorry for the noobness but after the drama I've had just getting this far I'm nervous about messing it up.

Hey,
Did you try a full wipe so you know for sure it's not the problem of the rom, just make a nandroid backup in your recovery(4ext recovery is higly recommended)
Also another trick,
As you know the back of the sensation is also the antenna...
You can try to gently clean the gold spots.
About the radio take a look at here it says when you have the wrong radio it can cause bad reception so it can be the problem.!

For me that did the trick, but now that i updated to 3.1.4 this option seems to be missing, so maybe obsolete and handled automatically as i have no issues without it.
