HELP!! cannot enable Google Now!! and the setting is gone! - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, guys.
I'm using stock T-mobile 4.1.1 nexus s and I switched every setting of language to US english.
However, when I go to the google search setting, I do not see my Google Now Setting!!! I cannot find Google Now Setting anywhere!!
I disabled it awhile ago but I want to enable it back but it's gone...
under the google search settings, i can only see Voice, Phone Search and Privacy settings... T_T
can anyone help me out here?

go to setting then apps, then clear google search's data and cache. you should have the prompt again.

Let me guess. You've got google apps.
It took me 3 hours to figure this out.
Go into your google aps control panel, and then Services, Mobile, and at the very bottom check the checkbox "enable google now".
A few minutes later your users will be able to use it.
Yes, it's still restricted by default for paying users, probably because companies don't like it too much.

cleared cached and data... where to set locale from?
i do have google apps but i also have my personal account which is the primary account in all the google applications in my phone.
I was even using Google Now only a few minutes ago.... i just disabled it from search settings and i don't see that switch anymore... it just disappeared.

It doesn't have the google now option anymore
i have cleared cache and cleared data from
Google play services
Google play store
Google search
still no luck
Some people are suggesting to change language the locale / language to english... where do you set that from? my device default is english and i never changed the locale or anything.

It worked.
thanks so much... Trick is, uninstall Google Search app [it will revert to the factory default Google Search app that came with the phone]... and then DO NOT download the latest Google Search update.... instead, go to the factory default Google Search app > menu > settings > activate google now... ONCE you have activated Google Now, only then update to the latest Google Search update from the Play Store. It solved my problem.

[Q] Google music beta

Got an invite yesterday and started loading songs and now I'm trying to get the cloud working on my NS4G but I don't see cloud options in the music app.
I'm running CM7 nightly with Netarchy's cfs stable. I uninstalled the music.apk from the system using Titanium backup and also cleared cache and uninstalled the one from market. Then rebooted to recovery, cleared cache and dalvic. Rebooted into Android and launched the marked and installed the app.
Still, all I get is options for what is on my local storage and nowhere can I find settings and options Google is talking about in their help section for cloud syncing.
Anyone knows what's up? I already have over 1k songs in the library and can play them on my PC using the player through chrome but nothing on my phone. And I'm using the same account as my phone is.
When you open the app, it should say that you're invited to Google Music blah blah blah. And it should sync up like that. Try using TB and wipe data from Music.
Just tried wiping data in TB... still no go
All I get is:
Music library is empty
_______________________
Copy music to your phone with a USB cable.
Learn More <- button
Also, when I hit menu all I see are two buttons: Shuffle all and Search. Thanks for your help.
Well, I'm using the same setup you are and its working for me. You are downloading "Music" from the market right? its a newer version.
It should be https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.music&feature=search_result
Accounts & Sync in Settings.. a new sync labeled "Music" should also appear. If it's unchecked, check it!
If its not there, then hmph. You could try removing your Google account and re-adding it and see if it does anything.
BTW, if it makes a difference, I'm using two stage authentication in my google account. I had to create a passkey for google music on my desktop app.
I'm thinking this maybe the reason why but at least it should ask for a password and account login of some kind. I can clear all data from music appp in applications and it says it will remove all account info but when I launch it back again all I get is what you see in the picture:

yeah, I'm using the new 3.0.1 music app. There is no sync labeled "Music" under my Google Accounts & Sync settings. So I assume it could be my two stage authentication.
I'll try to disable it and if that doesn't do anything I'll remove the account and add it again.
Thanks.
Well, revoking the two stage application specific password for the phone and creating new one did not work. I tried removing my Google account but it won't let me do that unless I reset phone to factory default. It says the account is needed for some apps to function.
That makes no sense that this would just not work after getting an invite. Did you have to remove the music.apk app from system which comes with gapps?
It's possible, I'll try wiping mines and doing it all over. If I remembered properly, I opened up the app the first time and it was like sync your music so i did and everything appeared.
Edit: Yeah, nothing special. I opened it, nothing appeared then i press back (back to home screen). Relaunched app and a blur of text appeared and i was like "yeah sync it!" and there it was.
Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7C1p1yW02k&feature=player_detailpage#t=441s (not mines)
GOT IT!!!
I opened the app again. It all looked the same as in the picture I posted but just for **** an giggles I clicked menu.... and settings appeared After that it let me select the account and I got all the music in there.
It most likely was the two stage account because the settings showed up after I revoked it and signed in with new.
Sweet!. Thanks bro!

P.S. Google Music looks even better on Honeycomb lol
Edit: Be sure you're using Voodoo Sound! It'll make music A LOT MORE enjoyable. You're probably already using it but I wanted to say it incase you weren't.

No access to Google Now settings

Does anyone know how to reset google now without doing a factory reset?
I'm trying to change the weather from Fahrenheit to Celsius and all the tutorials out there tell me to go into google search settings and choose Google now from there. But I don't have that option. One possibility is that I didn't hit "Yes, I'm in" after first running google now (but I'm 99% positive I did) and a way to completely reset this would be an option, but I can't find a way to do it. Clearing data, cache, uninstalling updates or even disabling and reenabling google search does nothing.
Any ideas?
No it's in the setting in google now click card 3 dots and search in there.

Where did you get it, did it come with a ROM and which one also is the ROM if thats what your using is it for s3 or s4?
I'm using the stock rom on an S4 phone, with the 4.1.1 update.

It's not in the 3 dots menu, the first option should be Google Now, but it's just not there, as I said before.
Google Search isn't the one that came with the rom, there was a subsequent update through the market.

Your account is a google apps for businness account ? if yes you need to activate google now in your account if no access to google apps settings ask to the manager if he can allow google now ! I think this is why you don't have the settings
It's a gmail account, but I'll look into that.
I can't find anything along those lines. Is it possible it's off because I have web history disabled in my google account?

Doesn't seem to have had any effect.
Maybe you can try another google account...just to know if it's related to your account.

New Google Play Store Sucks

Does anyone else think the new Google Play Store sucks?
It's a horrible use of space. It's bad enough that recently Google made it so that if you want to buy an app, you are forced to create a Google Wallet account that is tied to your mobile carrier.
Now, Google Play store has this big waste of space, and surprise, the tab to tell you the app's permissions is missing.
Where do I find an app's permissions?

If you want t search by permissions, visit the appscrawler site (appscrawler.com). I do not have permission to enter an url. But you can Google it. There are lot of Android apps what are pointing to Play Store. One of the advantage of the site is the ability to search by permissions.

found this thread while searching for google play sucks
i too think it sucks and honestly lacks some serious functionality. all i have is a huge messy list of apps. no way to sort your apps, by either category, or even a simple search that will search your list of apps. the google play app for tablet (if it's a different build) is much worse.. lots of wasted screen space and the list of your apps is narrow and frustrating to navigate. i buy many apps and currently there is also no way to only see apps that i've bought.
maybe google doesn't feel it necessary to continue to improve and add features to it because they don't make much money off app sales? no idea, but it's pretty puzzling how long its been and again, it lacks basic functions to easy manage your apps. you should be able to manage your apps as if you were just browsing the app store. things sorted by category, title, size, date, last purchase, etc. maybe i am being unrealistic and asking for too much.. ?
I've stopped downloading new apps or updating my existing apps. Yes, to me the Google Play store sucks that bad!

"Ok Google Detection" Options missing in Moto G3

2. Now on tap -Even though i've enabled it, it just doesn't wants to work it just vibrates once every time i hold home button.
3. Whenever i try to toggle now on tap in settings it says "Unfortunately Google app has stopped"

Google Assistant voice recognition

Hi all,
This is my first Thread but I am long time follower of the forum, thanks for all the amazing work and support!
I am trying to set up the Google Assistant voice recognition on my wife's new Huawei P20 without success.
The first thing that is weird is that on my OnePlus 3 the Assistant asks me to say twice "Ok Google" and twice "Hey Google", whereas on the P20 I am asked to say thrice "Ok Google", like on the older version of the OP3 Assistant.
Is this normal for Huawei? Is Google behind with the integration of the Assistant on the EMUI?
The second (and main!) problem is that after saying 3 times "Ok Google" nothing happens. Every time I say it a check appears so the Assistant can actually hear what I am saying, but after the third time nothing happens and only the "Cancel" button is active.
Is anyone encountering my same issue?
Does anyone have a solution or a workaround? :fingers-crossed:
Many thanks for your time
Hmm I think the hey google is just an app flag.
You could try to clear the data on the Google App. That worked for my P10 when it failed in a similar manner.
Hope it helps

Hi Paul, thanks for your suggestion.
I have tried to clear the data on the Google App and also in the Google Play Services but it didn't work.
I rebooted in recovery and wiped the cache and it didn't work.
The only time it worked for a little while was by setting the language to English (US), clearing all the data and rebooting the system.
At start up it asked me to configure the assistant from scratch and the voice control worked.
Then I had the brilliant idea to switch the language to English (UK) and the Voice control toggle went back to off and there was no way to activate it again.
However it's worth noting that on my OP3 the language is English (UK) and it works perfectly, so the only thing I can think of is a problem in the implementation in the EMUI.
I am curious to understand if it works fine on the P10 series.
This is where the process gets stuck

Hi.
After the third time you say Hi Google and the device starts to listen, you have to say something different and the app will search the result. That's what I did and it worked.
Cheers :good:
Had a similar problem, only i couldnt even start the setup, it always said "could not connect".
What i did to solve my problem, i deactivated the google app in the setting, downloaded and installed the most recent version from apkmirror:
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...le-app-7-26-14-21-arm64-android-apk-download/
then i was able to finish the setup succesfully and it is working for me now.

This is where the process gets stuck

try with setting English (Generic) as your main language (long press on this) and Italian(?) as a second.
