Keyboard Dock Issue - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Bare with me on this.....
So when I use the tablet without the dock, I use the ICS keyboard layout because I prefer the theme better to the ASUS themed keyboard however Ive realised that I must change the keyboard setup to ASUS English (UK) Keyboard because when typing an email, near the return key is the "@" but when i do shift and key to get the "@" i get this " and so I have to do shift 2 to "@". understand? Then when I take the tablet off the dock I have to change the keyboard back to ICS.
Annoying, but am i the only one?

You're the only one who didn't search first to see if anyone else has asked this

Themed Keyboard?

Anyone working on a way to theme the Asus on screen keyboard? Would really like to since im using Tron theme with Adw and would love to have that type of glowing keys. Thanks in advance!!

u can try a different keyboard. swiftkey has a nice tron esque looking keyboard, also thumb keyboard has many diifferent themes for it.
Honestly, after buying thumb keyboard, I'm not sure I could live without it. Typing is so much faster..
It comes with themes though not sure if there's a tron one out there
Cool didn't know if they would work on the transformer will check it out. The only thing is I like the swype portion to type on the keyboard I have gotten spoiled with this ability. thanks

Thanx people i was looking for a keyboard replacement and just happened to come across this thread
I tried installing swype, but it wouldn't load the keyboard. Hope someone figures out how to make it work on the transformer

i got a modded version to work on the xoom, but the res was really bad and it was just too much finger dragging to be usable.

Best Keyboard

Personally, I'm loving the ESC Hacker's Keyboard (https://market.android.com/details?id=app-org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard) as it has arrow keys, multi-touch (hold shift and 4 to get $), as well as Ctrl which can help when navigating forms on web pages.
It also has a fuller predictive selection (especially in landscape) Wichita would be familiar to anyone who's used the Gingerbread keyboard on their phone.

Thumb keyboard. By far the best keyboard on TF imo.

i don't know that I could ever use a keyboard that doesn't have a layout like thumb keyboard on my tablet. I don't think anything could match the sheer speed of typing with two thumbs on such a giant touchscreen..
Cool keyboard, (the Hacker one).
But I have to add my voice to the Thumb Keyboard crowd. This keyboard delivers beyond any other IMO.

I agree that the thumb keyboard is great when hold the device, however I currently have it lying flat on my desk and the hacker keyboard is much more natural in this setting.

Yeah I'm with you on that. I got the keyboard dock now, and I'm finding I use the device differently than before. More like a netbook. So physical keyboard primarily, thumb keyboard when undocked.

I'm currently using swype beta for honeycomb right now.
I don't want to pay for thumb keyboard, and swyping is much easier and faster for me compared to typing with my thumbs.
The re-sizable feature is also really nice when browsing the web.

I agree. Thumb Keyboard is awesome and well worth the money. I'm also using the new Swype beta (just downloaded it today). I love the fact that you can minimize the size of it on the screen...very nice!
I actually really like stock honeycomb keyboard too...I use it when device is lying flat.
i have to say I am quite impressed with swype. The compact mode is awesome.
bringing this subject back on the table... so, which is the keyboard you prefer? I'd like something that works fine with "MyCloud" (splashtop) (some of them don't input very nice - big lags - i suspect the autocorrect is interfering). also having the option to split the keyboard (something like thumb keyboard), also having the windows keys (ctrl, alt, esc, tab etc.). also word suggestion should not add a space after selecting the word. and eventually free
i tried A.I.type Keyboard Free (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aitype.android&feature=search_result) - interesting, but works bad with splashtop (and i think it adds a space after the suggested word).
another one was Tablet Keyboard Free (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.prettyeasy.tabletkeyboard.free&feature=search_result) - i think it was a bit to large for my taste.
MultiLing Keyboard (https://market.android.com/details?...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rbHllLmltZS5sYXRpbiJd) was ok, but I don't remember why I didn't install it anymore.
so, what do you use?
I use SwiftKey Tablet X, it has the option to split the keyboard and a couple of other useful features. I use Splashtop and a couple of other "remote control" apps ssh etc and I don't see any lags or any other problems.
Sorry for my english.

i'll try that too.
I reinstalled Honso and I remembered what i didn't like - even in split mode the inside keys are still too far to be reached by my thumb easily. I also made AItype work ok in splashtop (disabled all word predictions and corrections), but their arrows don't work in any app that I tried to use. with honso arrows work fine, tab works fine even in splashtop.
Thumb Keyboard has the best usability and customization options of any Android keyboard, be it phone or tablet, that I've used.

Tablet Keyboard App

I'm looking for a good keyboard app for the Infinity. I really like FloatNSplit, but it's missing one special character, the degree symbol
I know it's a minor annoyance, but combined with the dock's seeming inability to produce any special characters at all, I thought it would be a good idea to start a conversation.
Any good recommendations out there?

I use Thumb Keyboard myself. Have not used it with a dock so not sure how that works. It seem to have everything...haven't used the degree symbol. I will check tonight to see if it is there.
Thumb keyboard. It doesnt have the degree symbol (or at least i cant find it), but im sure you can contact the developer and have them add it. It should be simple to just add to the key binding feature.

Just checked the degree symbol (°) and you can add a key binding for it.

SwiftKey. It has the split keyboard feature in landscape mode (and numpad in the middle), very responsive.

I personally like Swype but not so much for landscape although you can make it float which makes it possible to use with one thumb if it's flexible I'm going to try this thumb keyboard that everyone is talking about. Although I find the Swype super quick and responsive.

The best. I had to do a slight adjustment with font size because of the brilliant HD screen (and my eyes are getting bloody worse every day), but once that was done, great app.
I think SwiftKey is just the best for touch input. I've been using the ASUS Keyboard for the dock, mainly because of issues with the diacritics, but now with KLSwitcher this is solved. I think it's just fine with the dock now, tapping on the screen for auto-completion isn't very functional when using the physical keyboard, but apart from that everything works.
Hacker's Keyboard is ok for the term when not docked because of all the special chars, but typing is slow on this one.
You can see some of my thoughts on various keyboards for the Infinity in my apps thread.

[Q] CM10 keyboard dock UK

Hello,
Simple question but searching hasn't found an answer (or my googling skills are getting rusty). When using the keyboard OK with CM10 I can set the language to US but not UK/GB so it is hard to type £ and things like @ and " have swapped place. Can a GB layout be selected and how?
Thanks in advance and thanks to the cyanogen team for a great ROM
Sent from my Transformer Pad TF300T using Tapatalk 2
Guess it wasn't that simple a question after all

Mate I tried to find a way, including third party apps, to get a UK Keyboard working on Cyanogen based ROMs.
One of a few reasons (mostly Tablet specific OS Customisation) why I stick to ROMs based on Stock on my TF300T :fingers-crossed:
Just came across the same issue, switching back to a stock based ROM.
You'd have thought it would be easy to implement, guess not

ASUS transformer physical keyboard autocorrect

Found a great solution for autocorrect using the physical keyboard. Touchpal keyboard just came out in February of this year and works wonderfully with the physical keyboard. Autocorrect works, as well as input with spacebar, and selecting the next word by using the number row. It's also free. I can't post links yet, so just search for it in the playstore.
I was wondering when that keyboard would come back. Was a good keyboard several years ago

Hello my friends. I really liked touchpal especially that "row number" option you get when the spell options appear. It's really a usefull functionality for me because I use the physical keyboard aswell. The problem is...since i'm Portuguese the keyboard layout gets all messed up!! I tried using other apps like Swift and Ultra and they work really fine 'cause they let you change the key layout but they don't have the "row number" option so every time I want to correct I have to tap the screen... That's not an option because my language as a lot of accents and stuff like that...
Is there some way to change the key layout on touchpal or is there a way to select the spell options in Swift or Ultra using the physical keyboard?
Please help... I'm really frustrated, and I feel that when I'm getting really close to solving this something just goes terrible wrong!! xD
Thank you for the help
