Best Keyboard - Eee Pad Transformer Themes and Apps

Personally, I'm loving the ESC Hacker's Keyboard (https://market.android.com/details?id=app-org.pocketworkstation.pckeyboard) as it has arrow keys, multi-touch (hold shift and 4 to get $), as well as Ctrl which can help when navigating forms on web pages.
It also has a fuller predictive selection (especially in landscape) Wichita would be familiar to anyone who's used the Gingerbread keyboard on their phone.

Thumb keyboard. By far the best keyboard on TF imo.

i don't know that I could ever use a keyboard that doesn't have a layout like thumb keyboard on my tablet. I don't think anything could match the sheer speed of typing with two thumbs on such a giant touchscreen..

Cool keyboard, (the Hacker one).
But I have to add my voice to the Thumb Keyboard crowd. This keyboard delivers beyond any other IMO.

I agree that the thumb keyboard is great when hold the device, however I currently have it lying flat on my desk and the hacker keyboard is much more natural in this setting.

Yeah I'm with you on that. I got the keyboard dock now, and I'm finding I use the device differently than before. More like a netbook. So physical keyboard primarily, thumb keyboard when undocked.

I'm currently using swype beta for honeycomb right now.
I don't want to pay for thumb keyboard, and swyping is much easier and faster for me compared to typing with my thumbs.
The re-sizable feature is also really nice when browsing the web.

I agree. Thumb Keyboard is awesome and well worth the money. I'm also using the new Swype beta (just downloaded it today). I love the fact that you can minimize the size of it on the screen...very nice!
I actually really like stock honeycomb keyboard too...I use it when device is lying flat.

i have to say I am quite impressed with swype. The compact mode is awesome.

bringing this subject back on the table... so, which is the keyboard you prefer? I'd like something that works fine with "MyCloud" (splashtop) (some of them don't input very nice - big lags - i suspect the autocorrect is interfering). also having the option to split the keyboard (something like thumb keyboard), also having the windows keys (ctrl, alt, esc, tab etc.). also word suggestion should not add a space after selecting the word. and eventually free
i tried A.I.type Keyboard Free (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aitype.android&feature=search_result) - interesting, but works bad with splashtop (and i think it adds a space after the suggested word).
another one was Tablet Keyboard Free (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.prettyeasy.tabletkeyboard.free&feature=search_result) - i think it was a bit to large for my taste.
MultiLing Keyboard (https://market.android.com/details?...=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rbHllLmltZS5sYXRpbiJd) was ok, but I don't remember why I didn't install it anymore.
so, what do you use?

I use SwiftKey Tablet X, it has the option to split the keyboard and a couple of other useful features. I use Splashtop and a couple of other "remote control" apps ssh etc and I don't see any lags or any other problems.
Sorry for my english.

i'll try that too.
I reinstalled Honso and I remembered what i didn't like - even in split mode the inside keys are still too far to be reached by my thumb easily. I also made AItype work ok in splashtop (disabled all word predictions and corrections), but their arrows don't work in any app that I tried to use. with honso arrows work fine, tab works fine even in splashtop.

Thumb Keyboard has the best usability and customization options of any Android keyboard, be it phone or tablet, that I've used.

Swype for XOOM??

I know there were some grumblings about Swype on the XOOM around release time and the team at Swype haven't returned any emails so I come to my community.
Is there any word on the XOOM getting Swype? Soon? Ever?
Anyone have a way of hacking it on? I've tried but keep getting the error "Screen resolution not supported".
Have you tried installing the beta?
http://beta.swype.com
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Last i checked the beta didn't work on the xoom, that was the day i got my xoom too, so not sure if a new beta has been released since, but i also heard that swype had no intentions of making a swype version for the large tablets (keeping to the 7" of the galaxy tab) but those could have been hear say, just lending my 2 cents! I'd love to see a mini-swype that takes ups just one side of the screen and you use one thumb, that'd be sweet...
Still not working on the Xoom, but last I read on their forum they still intended to make it work for us.
Just go to themes and apps in this sub forum and you'll find thumb beta. It works pretty flawlessly for a beta
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I just tried loading it few minutes ago. No dice. But I downloaded Thumb Keyboard last night and it is a massive improvement overall the stock keyboard. I love that it splits for thumb use in landscape mode and that a long press allows numbers and symbols on the main board without needing to jump back and forth boards like on the stock.
I figure if they can't get to market, there's always the competition.
I use SlideIt. I like swype better, but it's not a bad option. It's not free though, but pretty cheap.
Thanks for all the good info! Looking into it now.....

I have both swiftkey and thumb keyboard. They're basically the same concept but I find it easier to type on the thumb keyboard thanks to its responsiveness and functionalities. Nevertheless, swiftkey interface is tron like which is wohoo nice. Though it still has more bugs to ve worked out than as of thumb keyboard

Phone keyboards won't fit very well on a bigger screen. I be tried smart keyboard too. The keys are squished down to the bottom of the screen and are longer.
I doubt that flext9 will work. But still 4.99 is still a bit too much for testing lol
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
Actually I'm using the flext9 keyboard on my Xoom to type this...
It does work Swype style, but not sure if typing is faster or swiping.
I guess it depends if you are using two hands or one to type. In portrait it seems better to swipe but not necessarily in landscape, if you have the tablet on the desk.
After 15 minutes of use I decided to keep it and still using it as my default keyboard so it can't be bad
I like the word prediction bar and the long press for punctuation... haven't tried the voice or handwriting recognition though.

Use to use it exclusively even on 2.2. I have since moved on to Thumb Keyboard and haven't looked back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056976
What I do love about the GB keyboard is that it doesn't use the whole screen if it doesn't need it. Something I have always hated about the Samsung keyboard is that even in the Google search widget, you click to type and !!BAM!! whole screen keyboard.

I just ran into TSwipe-Pro. The theory is the same as Swipe, but it moves the letters to the right side of the screen and adds a 3x3 cursor control on the left side. Actually works pretty good as the distance to Swipe is reduced. I think it shows real promise. It also includes quite a few different keyboard layout options. So you can set up a right shifted "swipe" on portrait and a thumb keboard on landscape.

I just tried the latest beta version thumb keyboard...I liked the layout variations for 7" tablets. They were great.
Only one prob though, there were no language variants for the keyboard layout. I was unable to get the ä and ö although I was able to use the Finnish dictionary...is this the case or was this just a user error?
I tried Best Keyboard, but stopped on GB keyboard with English and Russian dictionaries.
I don't like Swype and not mentally ready for 8pen ;-).

What is the perfect keyboard?

I've tried them all stock, SwiftKey, swype, SwiftKey x beta, smart, better keyboard, an all are mediocre. Does anyone have a really good keyboard? It seems that wp7 and apple hav flawless keyboards right now and its upsetting android is letting me down with quality.
Edit: notice how the spelling isn't even perfect when making the thread. (using SwiftKey x beta)

After getting used to it, the stock gingerbread has quickly become my favorite onscreen keyboard. I've used them all and I like Swype and Swiftkey as well, but I really dig the speed of the gingerbread keyboard. It's a personal choice of course, I hope you find your perfect keyboard!
Sometimes I find it hard to click on the right letter, but the stock keyboard is indeed the most responsive you will find.
Ultra keyboard also seemed ok to me, very customizable and has a tool bar on top of it that offers quick acces to basic actions like copy, paste, cut, settings etc from a single touch. It also supports gestures. I really enjoyed typing on it but it has this small issue that was a deal breaker for me: typing on the enter button requires a small pause to be clickable, I think the space button as well. I think its there to prevent accidental typing on them while you are typing words, but it really pissed me off.
The keyboard from HTC Sense also seemed to be very ok, I found it to be the most accurate on suggesting words, just google HTC_IME mod and give it a try.
Other then that they are all the same for me, except that the stock GB keyboard is definitely the most responsive one.
Swype and swiftkey are a no-no for me, people just think they are faster but its just a new type of typing, something new. Typing with 2 thumbs is much faster then swyping with 1.
I tried Swift Key and Swype, nothing beats the stock keyboard, really zippy
Tried everything. Stock is the best, except for the occasional ddouble lletters.

My one gripe is the android keyboard sound. I hate it. I know better keyboard has the iPhone sound which is much better.
I'm using the gingerbread keyboard. I think is the best for fast typing...
thanks for all the responses and after fast texting with all the keyboards I find stock to be the fastest but it does still have some bugs like the double letters idk if any of you have experienced that but hopefully ice cream sandwich fixes that! (if we even get it haha)

But one day Amazon App Store gave away Flex t9 keyboard app for free and I've been using it ever since.

on an interesting side note, Nuance is the developer of the keyboard which is a company in which apple is interested in acquiring. not that I favor apple, but shows the quality of what this keyboard can be.
It's like swype + swiftkey put together
I just had to mention it since I guess I saw nobody else did.

keyboard for our tiny screen

I have tried a ton of keyboards and I just can't seem to find anything that is useful with our skinny little screen. I dislike the non-configurationablism of the stock keyboard.
Anyone have a preference? I'm not big on sliding keyboards. I have slideit full version, but dislike it as well. I dislike prediction and prefer double-touch enabled keyboards.
Any recommendations?

yeah I bought it and use it on my tablet. I will give it a shot right now.
Yeah.. I stopped using that one because it is not multi-touch. The creator of that app told me he will be releasing a multi-touch version later.
I type too fast for a single touch display. often one finger will not fully lift before another drops down and it causes me to miss very often.
Better keyboard is great in that respect, but is lacking the features of thumb keyboard.
Just tried go keyboard for the first time. It's pretty good but it's multitouch works differently than better keyboard 8. If you press F and then press U before F is released on BK8, it puts the U in on keydown but if you do the same with GO it puts the U in when the F lifts.
My top favorites are SwiftKey and A.I. Keyboard..they work great for me!

Yeah listing would have been a good idea. I just couldn't remember off the top of my head and didn't have my phone handy.
I tried GO. it's decent. I want better! '
I think I'm just going to be hosed because the width of the keys are too small for my fat fingers when used with this small screen in portrait.
Maybe I will just be stuck in landscape and double thumbing.
Best keyboard imo is swype. You can't get it on the market for now but you can register on beta.swype.com it works like a charme! You may need 2-3 days but then you will be definitely faster than typing.

I'm the developer of Thumb Keyboard. I stumbled upon this thread because I have a Sensation myself (love it btw).
Thumb Keyboard 4.x is already multi-touch.
If there are any suggestions to improve the keyboard let me know. I already built in an option to resize the font, because the high resolution of the qHD display will reduce the size of the font (which is great in the case of some other apps btw). Any other suggestions/requests for the sensation display are very welcome.
Btw an update will be released this weekend or begin next week with, amongst others, a split keyboard with cursor keys. Works great on the Sensation. But that's my very biased opinion. Also it will be packed with a ton of downloadable high Res themes.

FlexT9? I think is double touch. It's basically a combo of swype and dictation. Also you can actually write your letters out a la Sony Clie days lol. Pretty much a jack of all trades but does not do one particularly well, but gets the job done. The Dragon software is pretty spot on for me.

I'm looking for a good keyboard app for the Infinity. I really like FloatNSplit, but it's missing one special character, the degree symbol
I know it's a minor annoyance, but combined with the dock's seeming inability to produce any special characters at all, I thought it would be a good idea to start a conversation.

The best. I had to do a slight adjustment with font size because of the brilliant HD screen (and my eyes are getting bloody worse every day), but once that was done, great app.
I think SwiftKey is just the best for touch input. I've been using the ASUS Keyboard for the dock, mainly because of issues with the diacritics, but now with KLSwitcher this is solved. I think it's just fine with the dock now, tapping on the screen for auto-completion isn't very functional when using the physical keyboard, but apart from that everything works.
Hacker's Keyboard is ok for the term when not docked because of all the special chars, but typing is slow on this one.
You can see some of my thoughts on various keyboards for the Infinity in my apps thread.
