Hi folks,
I know this is not the right forum to ask a question like this but I have been using my desire s for the past 1 Year and em feeling a lot intimate with it. recently my screen got cracked and so I plan on getting a new mobile, after a big walk around the forums I found HTC sensation and Galaxy s2 are the ones having a good feedback and also fits my budget. Now em in a duo of which one to select I like htc sense ui a lot but Samsung is well known for its source code release stuff (I'm a flashalcholic). Please suggest me a good mobile my budget is 400 to 450 usd (max 25000 INR)

If you are a flashaholic would you not be better off going for the Galaxy Nexus?
At this stage you would probably be better off getting a second hand Sensation or SII as long as it is in good condition, would be much cheaper.
s2 will be better then sensation, sensation battry really sucks!! AND my suggestion is XPERIA S!
Don't buy a sensation, buy a Sensation XE. Better battery, 1.5 GHz processor. The ROM's you flash will be the same though.
S2 is a wonderful and fast phone, but I personally don't like is design. It has 1.2 GHz....but I guess it's a little above your budget around 27k I presume..unless you get a nice deal.
Evo 3D and Xperia P are 25k in the market. Both are pretty awesome. Xperia P just looks so elegant though
Best of luck
Although I wanna know...how did you manage to break a gorilla glass display ?!?!

Galaxy Nexus isn't available 'officially' in India
But you can easily get one through eBay.

You are also in the same mind set as mine build quality and the ui is the only thing that makes me lean towards sensation xe but htc is having a bad time releasing source codes so em a little bit worried as if after some 2 good years I will loose my help from dev community

Yeah, there is no better UI than Sense. And is just looks so good. If you get XE for 24k then is wonderful !
Although I'd like to point out that HTC of its really slow with updates. I got ICS mid easy through July. On top of that there was some problem in the update and I don't have a working Bluetooth and WiFi. You'll have to go to the service centre and install a 'solution' to get it fixed. This however hasn't happen to all XE's. Only to some unfortunate devices. (For more information on this check my thread about it on my profile...I don't want to troll too much here)
About Xperia P...Sony devices don't have rapid and consistent development as far as I know...my brother had Xperia Arc S and its kinda slow.
About the screen now I know what not to do I punch my wildfire even often :banghead:

Hey, I had the desire s for just over a year too and I've just got the one S. I recommend it. Takes a while to get used to the super amoled screen but when you get used to it, it's a fantastic device. It's got a great size screen. 4.3 inch is much better than 3.7 and I think 4.8 is a bit too big. It's also the same size screen as the galaxy s2 and it's a super amoled display so you're getting the greatness of the sgs2 screen on an HTC. It's got a fantastic processor as well the snapdragon s4 is incredible powerful. im getting quadrant scores of about 5000 which is higher than the quad core one x! So get the one s and then you're staying within the HTC community. I've picked up the sgs2 and I just don't like the build quality of their phones. It's like they have expensive hardware chucked in plastic! Doesn't make sense to me and touch wiz is horrible, no problem if like you say you are a "flashoholic" I'm not sure if it's in your budget but it can't be too far off considering it's dual core and the s3 model is cheaper I think
He is right, I guess if you can manage getting One S at even 28k buy it blindly...I didn't recommend this because it's above 30k in the market.
Something I learnt is never by a flagship phone if you are after the next flagship phone is announced or out. I got Desire HD in august '11 and sensation was announced in September. One X was announced as soon as I bought my XE. They just ditch the older one and concentrate upgrading the newer.

Contract is up, been offered an HTC sensation for £21per month, 24 month contract, 600min, 500mb, unlimited texts. Highly tempted, but the phones been out for a while now and I know others with much better processors will be out soon. What to do!? Would you guys still recommend this phone at this time?

Depends, the new phones that do come out will probably be quite expensive at launch.
But that should push the price of the Sensation down further. The contract you're being offered is pretty good though.
I do recommend the Sensation but if I were you, I'd wait a few weeks and see if the price drops further with the launch of new devices.
Thanks for your message, I've been with my HTC Desire for a while now, the Sensation should be quite an upgrade anyway. Any major disadvantages of the Sensation compared with other phones? Most reviews I read are quite generic.
you should wait man the sensation has death grip issues also dust under the screen and overheating issues the phone is also bulky wait quad core phones are about to release.

no death grip here either. For me this phone hasnt had any real downsides. great development, great help, really nice hardware. My worst problems include that the screen can be scratched despite being gorilla glass and the back cover has HTC glued on and some people have had it fallen off. Plus the new phones may have quad core but that just means more battery usage plus who on here other devs are gonna use/need 4 cores?

Try it!,
I never buy phones right after they're released, they are usually overpriced at the launch. £21 is a good offer but if money is not an issue for you I'd go for galaxy nexus. Prices are already down and you can get a good deal. Quad core is just a gimmick, you'll not even notice a difference.
Guys I just want to know which is the best device to go for next? SGSII OR SENSATION? what say?
Sent from my device using Tapatalk
It would be more logical if you asked between the Amaze and the SGS2, since the Sensation is older. Anyways, I prefer the Amaze because of the higher pixel density. The SAMOLED+ is great, but a 4.5 inch screen with 480x800? Ill pass.

It honestly depends on what your looking for
If you like the sensation UI or Touchwiz UI, whether you want the extra horsepower or not, etc
I own a Galaxy S2, and I LOVE the thing to death!
It is EXTREMELY HARD to break it via flashing ROMS and Firmware, it has lots of support, it's powerful, has ICS support already, and has many benefits over the Sensation IMHO, the screen is better too, I played with a sensation and it felt laggy and slow at the Telstra store, even when I tweaked it a bit, everyone is going to have different opinions, but so far Samsung have won my vote
(I use to own a HTC Desire and HTC G1 (Dream))
and I prefer Samsung at the moment
I will be getting the Galaxy S III!
Honestly...none...
I would prefer htc one x..if you can wait more surely s3...

i own both sgs2 and a sensation, after using sensation for about a week i gave it to my wife and went back to s2. It's heavy and the screen is narrow and a few other things i didnt like about it. As far as sense goes i got over it in a week.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710a using xda premium
Yeah I agree the screen on the Sensation is stupidly narrow...I just cannot type on this thing (I actually had to download a iPhone default keyboard so I can type).
But I think the Sensation becomes a much better phone than the GS2 with the official ICS. On GB, the GS2 destroys the Sensation is terms of speed and smoothness, but on ICS its more or less even.
I mean seriously, do you want to buy a phone from a company than makes washing machines...or do you want to buy a phone from a company that invented the first touch screen smartphone?
And the end of the day as long as its not an iPhone or WP7 buy what you wish!
Honestly, I just switched from the i9000 to the Sensation XE recently, and you'd be crazy to buy a Samsung. Nothing on the i9000 worked properly, and one thing I learnt from the experience is that because Samsung develops a wide range of electronics, they will select inhouse electronics which clearly aren't designed well, over competitors whenever possible. (Just a short list, it was incredibly laggy, GPS was useless, their OS used too much ram, and the system reserved too much ram, and there wasn't near enough to actually use the phone without it crashing, it would crash regularly when browsing, etc). Oh, and then my flash memory died (like every other i9000's, and the flash seems to be a Samsung component).
That isn't likely to change. I now own a Sensation XE, and the only problem is occasionally reception. Just remember that the main problems with the Galaxy i9000s weren't immediately evident. HTC might be the better choice, because, HTC isn't a hardware company, so isn't forced to use controllers which are crap (ie, ones designed possibly designed inhouse) simply to avoid embarrassment.
Honestly, with the i9000's, there should be a class action lawsuit. The only good thing about them is that they were unbreakable
I'd stick with a Sensation over a Amaze. Amaze has a 1.5 dual-core and worse battery life. Only differences. Get a Sensation.
check out my bench mark results.
I have the regular Sensation
I think comparing to battery life sensation is better ryt?

Well I have Sensation XE and everything is stock and I absolutely love this phone, represents Android perfectly, not bashing Samsung here but touchwiz is a bit boring and too simple much like iOS (and I wonder why).
And as far as sense being a ram hog... Well good (better) things come at a cost so if you want something fun HTC is the way to go.
The aesthetics of the phone are amazing, feels like a proper phone in the hands and I absolutely love the back, the build quality is amazing as well. As far as death grip and issues of that sort go I haven't noticed much.
The display is amazing to and as far as the outside visibility goes I put my friends SGS2 along my XE and both were equally visible (same brightness). I'm not saying sAMOLED+ isn't a good display but there isn't much difference outdoors.

So I'm looking for my next phone.
I was all set to buy the One S but no expansion and removable battery.
The One X is too big.
So where do I go.
I want the One S but 12GB isn't going to cut it.
Whats coming and I am considering non HTC as I;m not big on the current direction.
Current favourite is Sony Xperia S but not completly convinced on this one is there anything coming soon worth waiting for?
Nothing in the very near future which would represent a noticeable upgrade from the sensation. Personally I'm waiting a bit longer.
Sent from the hell that is modern life.
Just hang on longer to the Sensation if you can't find anything. Mayne the SGS3?
If not, just keep the Sensaion and wait for better phones in Q3. Sensation is still a powerful piece of hardware

Physically I think
Storage is never big enough for ANYONE

I was thinking one S as well but like you said the low amount of storage has put me off it. I mean, the non-removable battery I could live with but only 16 gb's of storage....HTC, what are you thinking???
One X isn't a phone it doesn't fit in many pockets easily far a start.
Nice screen for movies and browsing but a little too impracticable for everyday life.
I go into the highlands in Scotland a lot what use is 25GB of dropbox if you can't access it.
A mobile device is for when your out and about we don't all live in London with permanent 3G and WiFi hotspots around every corner and that's when you want to access the content.
Have you tried streaming on a train or down the motorway in my experience you get crap connection speeds when moving at speed.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA
I absolutely agree with you. My concerns are the same. Everyone around me was impressed about this 25GB of storage with dropbox and I know for instance Three UK offer "all you can eat data" plan but they are the only one (as far as I know) and other carriers have their limit. And not to talk about still having gprs and edge connection in many area what I can't even use to fart on it... Anyway, brilliant phone is the One X but I still love my sensation and I'm sure I will sit on this phone till something similar will be released...

After seeing the specs of the EVO LTE and the European ONE X I was greatly displeased and turned off by the ONE S. EVERY nextgen flagship phone coming out seems to crush it spec wise.
given the fact that i have had multiple HTC phones I have no faith in their ability to make a battery that is sufficient for the phone it supports. So to embed a paltry battery like the one in the ONE S was an immediate deal killer. Then to find out about the memory too...it was not even a second thought.
As for blaming HTC, I have seen the light. The new EVO will be a beast. There is an on board 16 gig memory PLUS its expandable for an additional 32 gig. There is also a 2000 Ma battery if I am not mistaken. HTC "can" make a desireable phone, but T-mo has not required nor demanded a game-changer or a true flagship from them which is sad. Until t-mo stops slacking we will have to sit out cycles (like now) or switch to other brands.
I think I will be sticking with my Sensation until Q3 or Q4. So I won't regret any purchase because by that time all of the flasghip from every manufacturer has already been released. The sensation is still too powerful anyway.

Just the development alone from DEV's on the Nexus line is more than enough.... NEVER again will i buy another Android Phone that is not the Nexus line.
The sensation should be too powerful but mine is laggy as Hell since getting Android 4.
New Motorola coming out has 3000mA battery, if moto can do it HTC should be capable.

I have 500$ budget for a new phone and i had my eyes on the Sensation for some time now, I see it online for the range of 430$-420$ + 30$ for shipping to Cairo
So its close to the max of my budget considering i will pay tax for it in here, So my question is should i get the Sensation? Does it still worth it? and will it get any future updates? and it seems to be a bit slow on the CPU/GPU side is that true? and IF i should get it what is the right price and from where? If there's a good place selling the International version in Canada for good price i can get my family to get it for me from there, So what do you guys think?
BTW the Gnex is off limits due to its pentile screen and 5Mp camera
You can get one cheaper then that lol shop around or buy off here few people selling them

Hey bro, glad you've decided to get a HTC sensation. One question though, why not get an XE? its newer, bettery battery, plus it comes with awesome ibeats earbuds :-D I mean, in terms of whether or not it will get sense 4, probably not officially but developers here will soon get leaks from HTC to develop sense 4 on root devices. So i would say, yeah if its in your budget, if you're not willing to pay for the HTC one X or the One S, go for the sensation. If rooted, its capability is practically unmatched And yes i say this after owning an SGSII

Cheers mate, hope i helped~ and if i did do press the "thanks" button.

I wouldn't buy one new, its a year old and its successor is out, price difference isn't a lot.
As a second hand phone, it still has a years worth of warranty left...
I got mine with 530$ 7months ago now the xe ones new with 500$ its still costage here

I am curious what your next phone will be after the Sensation(xe/4g)
Mine will probably be a nexus 5 or an htc but doubt it becuase htc drops former flagships in like 2 yrs
Yes i searched and found an outdated thread

I think it will be a Nexus , Sony. or a LG

HTC One Max because I always wanted a galaxy note but hate Samsung build quality, I never keep a stock Rom, I flash on day one and therefore official updates don't bother me too much. Besides HTC are actually keeping the one up to date quickly now which is a great move! Plus I love sense so much that using a phone without it makes me sad and enjoy it less and I don't want to see this great company go bust...

I do agree with you. In terms of the simplicity of rooting your phone, I would say Samsung would be easier. But still build quality would overall determine the phone

More like 1 Year...
And I was tempted to buy the Butterfly S, but decided my Sensation is too good to retire, so I'm with it now. the One Max seems tempting, but I think I'll wait for the next wave of phones (maybe even for ARMv8 cores, 64bit processing on smartphones is just around the corner).
Maybe a huawei
Why not ?

I am also thinking of buying an Htc one max but HTC's update policy is a bit crappy... And nexus gets always update immediately from Google and has almost always an official build of most custom roms. But i love HTC!
NEXUS 6 MUST BE MADE BY HTC SO WE DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH THESE DILLEMA'S!!!

I'm looking at the Xperia Z, seems like it has decent Rom support, unlockable bootloader and is waterproof enough for me ^^ and that purple one is a cracking colour

Probably an Oppo 5 or 6.

Targetting Mi 2S , hTc (new) One, LG optimus G pro.
Second hand-considered :
Sony (Since its price drops rapid ,-10% in 1 week from first release here in Japan and Taiwan),
Nokia lumia( The number of Windows Apps growing is really slow)
Would never buy again:
Samsung S series. I got 2S 3S and 4S
The surprise feeling is decaying.
HTC One Google Edition or Nexus 5 if will be made by Asus/HTC
