[Q] Should I buy a sensation now?

Contract is up, been offered an HTC sensation for £21per month, 24 month contract, 600min, 500mb, unlimited texts. Highly tempted, but the phones been out for a while now and I know others with much better processors will be out soon. What to do!? Would you guys still recommend this phone at this time?

Depends, the new phones that do come out will probably be quite expensive at launch.
But that should push the price of the Sensation down further. The contract you're being offered is pretty good though.
I do recommend the Sensation but if I were you, I'd wait a few weeks and see if the price drops further with the launch of new devices.

Thanks for your message, I've been with my HTC Desire for a while now, the Sensation should be quite an upgrade anyway. Any major disadvantages of the Sensation compared with other phones? Most reviews I read are quite generic.

you should wait man the sensation has death grip issues also dust under the screen and overheating issues the phone is also bulky wait quad core phones are about to release.

Nah I say wait abit, the new line of htc phones plus samsung g3 will be out soon

Thanks for your opinions, itching for the next set of phones to come out then! Cost is not a major issue for me, recession hasn't affected me too much!

I'm also using a desire, i want buy also a sensation, but i dont know, if the new models comes the sensation will be cheaper, but what kind of bugs/mankementen have the phone?,

I have just upgraded from my beloved desire to the sensation XE. I thought about waiting but then the sensation seems to do well in reviews etc. I didn't want to wait for something that could be rubbish!

no death grip here either. For me this phone hasnt had any real downsides. great development, great help, really nice hardware. My worst problems include that the screen can be scratched despite being gorilla glass and the back cover has HTC glued on and some people have had it fallen off. Plus the new phones may have quad core but that just means more battery usage plus who on here other devs are gonna use/need 4 cores?

Also with for wifi / 3g lose? Did you try the bottom and up side? , loses bar level for wifi and 3g
Try it!,

I never buy phones right after they're released, they are usually overpriced at the launch. £21 is a good offer but if money is not an issue for you I'd go for galaxy nexus. Prices are already down and you can get a good deal. Quad core is just a gimmick, you'll not even notice a difference.

A Fair Price?

Hello all. I was thinking about selling my Sensation because the One X is screaming my name. But I'm having a hard time thinking of a fair price for it it's in mint condition, rooted (obviously) ICS 4.0.4, Sense 4, few screen protectors, case, and a anker extended battery. Any ideas on an asking price?

its sad but its rly like that... i was looking like 20 days to hardly find one sensation for 280 euros with no extras...

I don't know but the One X is just not doing it for me. I have a Sensation 4G and and Amaze 4G. Not even a month ago I sold a Sensation 4G with some scratches on the screen for $250. Sold it with the box, charger and a 8 gig micro sd and a cheap silicone case.
For now I'll keep my Amaze 4G. I'm thinking about selling my Sensation I'll how much I can get for this one.

I'd say $320 is a fair price.

I payed $320 brand new in box, the highest I saw used was 280 and that had a white housing so everyone must have been flipping out

Right guys, firstly I'd like to apologize is this thread's purpose annoys you but I just wanted to say goodbye. I'm getting a SGS2 on Thursday for my Sensation and I'd just like to say thank you to everybody in the sensation forums, you made my Sensation great but now it's time to go.

Nice trade. My girlfriend has a SGS2 and I definitely prefer it to my Sensation. Keeping an eye out for one going cheap myself

I love the s2 display size and colors but otherwise loving my htc ! Samsung hacking/custom roms seems a bit tricky specially whit the brick where you need a jtag which i see alot on the forums..

Yikes! I'm not in the market so I don't know the relative value of these things, but your Sensation and accessories PLUS $200 sounds like a lot for an SGS2. Not to mention SGS2 is already the "previous model".
Couldn't you just sell your Sensation outright and throw in some extra money towards an SGS3?

Completely agree you've been ripped off. You'd be better selling the Sensation and putting the money towards a used SGS2. $200 + Sensation + accessories is absolutely crazy

Yeah I know i was ripped off but after 3 months of waiting you kind of get sick of it so I raised my offer. Ganeshp, you've helped me a fair few times in the past but the main reason I mentioned you was because I see you almost everyday helping people and help make this forum what it is,
I could have put the money towards the SGS3 apart from the fact that I don't like it.......at all, I'm going to get either the first octacore HTC or Samsung anyway.

Suggestion for a new mobile

I know this is not the right forum to ask a question like this but I have been using my desire s for the past 1 Year and em feeling a lot intimate with it. recently my screen got cracked and so I plan on getting a new mobile, after a big walk around the forums I found HTC sensation and Galaxy s2 are the ones having a good feedback and also fits my budget. Now em in a duo of which one to select I like htc sense ui a lot but Samsung is well known for its source code release stuff (I'm a flashalcholic). Please suggest me a good mobile my budget is 400 to 450 usd (max 25000 INR)

If you are a flashaholic would you not be better off going for the Galaxy Nexus?
At this stage you would probably be better off getting a second hand Sensation or SII as long as it is in good condition, would be much cheaper.

s2 will be better then sensation, sensation battry really sucks!! AND my suggestion is XPERIA S!

Don't buy a sensation, buy a Sensation XE. Better battery, 1.5 GHz processor. The ROM's you flash will be the same though.
S2 is a wonderful and fast phone, but I personally don't like is design. It has 1.2 GHz....but I guess it's a little above your budget around 27k I presume..unless you get a nice deal.
Evo 3D and Xperia P are 25k in the market. Both are pretty awesome. Xperia P just looks so elegant though

Galaxy Nexus isn't available 'officially' in India
But you can easily get one through eBay.

I can grab sensation xe and s2 for around 24 k.. But dunno which has a very good dev community
Nexus is very much big for my hand that's why haven't got it into picture.
Since I have been using Desire S for the whole time Build quality and ui of s2 worries me a lot but it's development forums are more than just healthy compared to sensation xe so tooo confused on which one to select

Yeah, there is no better UI than Sense. And is just looks so good. If you get XE for 24k then is wonderful !
Although I'd like to point out that HTC of its really slow with updates. I got ICS mid easy through July. On top of that there was some problem in the update and I don't have a working Bluetooth and WiFi. You'll have to go to the service centre and install a 'solution' to get it fixed. This however hasn't happen to all XE's. Only to some unfortunate devices. (For more information on this check my thread about it on my profile...I don't want to troll too much here)
About Xperia P...Sony devices don't have rapid and consistent development as far as I know...my brother had Xperia Arc S and its kinda slow.
About the screen now I know what not to do I punch my wildfire even often :banghead:

Hey, I had the desire s for just over a year too and I've just got the one S. I recommend it. Takes a while to get used to the super amoled screen but when you get used to it, it's a fantastic device. It's got a great size screen. 4.3 inch is much better than 3.7 and I think 4.8 is a bit too big. It's also the same size screen as the galaxy s2 and it's a super amoled display so you're getting the greatness of the sgs2 screen on an HTC. It's got a fantastic processor as well the snapdragon s4 is incredible powerful. im getting quadrant scores of about 5000 which is higher than the quad core one x! So get the one s and then you're staying within the HTC community. I've picked up the sgs2 and I just don't like the build quality of their phones. It's like they have expensive hardware chucked in plastic! Doesn't make sense to me and touch wiz is horrible, no problem if like you say you are a "flashoholic" I'm not sure if it's in your budget but it can't be too far off considering it's dual core and the s3 model is cheaper I think

Something I learnt is never by a flagship phone if you are after the next flagship phone is announced or out. I got Desire HD in august '11 and sensation was announced in September. One X was announced as soon as I bought my XE. They just ditch the older one and concentrate upgrading the newer.

i think 22k is a very good price
other alternatives are s2 & galaxy nexus

Still, is it the s3 or s4 version, because with the s3 you would got more or less just a overclocked sensation without sd and removable battery.

Woah I'm glad i've swayed you towards my device! If you want to know a bit about performance and battery life. Look at the 2 screenshots that i've taken from my device attached to this post the benchmark was taken before I got the 4.0.4 update, now I get scores of around 5000

How do you tell? I know it TMOUS, the ring around the camera lens is blue, the phone is silver.

why would you get rid of a one S for a sensation? the one s is an upgraded sensation (s3 or s4, either way)
although that pentile matrix really sucks, its not enough for me to downgrade phones

No unless it had 32gb of storage. Assuming this is the t-mobile one s without removable battery and without micro sd card slot

And to get inferior (IMHO) pentile Amoled screen.
Neither One X, One S or even GS3 are worth upgrade from Sensation tbh. Might as well sit it out till Xmas or March next year. And i'd avoid tegra3.

There won't be anything worth the upgrade until next year at least on T-Mobile. Unless the OneX+ comes but it's not going to happen

Opinions are like... Well you know... And I'm offing this thing ASAP to get a note 2. Easily a worthy upgrade. As far as on topic, as has been said maybe for a one x but one s just disappointed the hell out of me. First smart phone I ever had was HTC and every one since; but they need to open their eyes. This year was an abysmal failure by HTC. Especially for tmo customers. I honestly want to know who thought no removable memory/battery was a good idea. When's the last time you heard someone say "this phone is great but I just wish they would lock the battery up and not let me expand the memory." Just because Iphone does it doesn't mean it's right. I'd be hard pressed to even find an Iphone user that didn't want to take the battery out and expand the memory. That's not even a feature, it's a lack of a feature. 2 at that.

I wouldnt lol. I'll still keep my Sensation and just get another device. With Sensation's removable battery and microsd card, my Sensation can be media device for my car.

The problem with the note II is that if I wanted a tablet I'd just get a tablet. Its size is just too large to carry as a phone.
