Too Many Pattern Attempts issue in Nexus S - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am using Nexus S - GT-I9020T with Jelly Bean update. Yesterday unknowingly kids were taken my mobile and entered the pattern password multiple times wrongly which leads to enter "Username and Password" page. I have entered my gmail username and password ( I have used this account to sync my android)properly but it doesn't work. My mobile internet option is not enabled, it is in off mode now. I have tried all the possible ways mentioned below,
1. Entering the password as "null" by entering with gmail and without gmail - It doesn't work.
2. Reboot my mobile - No use of it.
3. Keep pressing on home button - No use.
4. Keep pressing on back button when someone call you - No use.
I have reached samsung service center, but they said it cannot be fixed and they said we can do software update but if phone is dead we are not responsible. So, I didn't go for that option. Now, I really frustrated if nothing can be done to fix the issue why the android developers having these option. Please help me to fix this issue ASAP. Your responses will be appreciated!! Please helppp....Thanks for your help in advance!

Fix for "Too many pattern attempts" with Gmail not setup

So i got my captivate yesterday, sent one text, enabled the pattern, then forgot what pattern I set and thought I bricked my phone. After getting into the recovery menu, I was able to clear user data but that didn't help. I waited until I got home and started playing with the data cable. I found that if I had the data cable plugged in (phone was still set to use Samsung Kies) and I turned the phone off, then booted it back up holding volume down and the home key, I managed to get it to go to the home screen and eventually I had to do a factory settings restore. The funny part was even after I got into the device this way, if the screen locked it would still say "Too many pattern attempts" and ask for my gmail account which hadn't been setup on the phone yet. Hope this helps someone.
Worked very first time!
OMG, this worked like a charm. My little cousin locked my phone without me knowing she had it and i was so upset but i decided to give this a try and it worked on the first time. Thanks so much for posting this. Oh & im also using a Captivate

Just found a work around not mentioned here. (already had a gmail account configured that wouldnt accept the PW... not sure if this will work if no Gmail account has been configured)
Start with a fresh reboot of the device
>> Once logged in to the screen asking for the Google account have somebody call you
>> when they call select the menu and then memo
>> keep doing this until a memo actually displays
>> once a memo is opened you should be able to pull down the status bar
>> look for anything that would allow you to create a google account
>> if the account is already setup send an email to yourself so you get a notification and then open the message which will take you to the gmail app
>> inside of the app get the the account screen to sync or modify the account
>> once you sync you should be able to bypass the login for the lock screen
Some other tricks are in the Captivate FAQ:

Thank you for those tips much appreciated!

Too many pattern attempts

My son has a Desire S which he has locked now after doing too many pattern attempts but we do not have the gmail account password (was setup purely for this phone and not used it since created) I have done a gmail recovery form but not holding my breath as account was never used so cant provide the "who emails you frequently" info etc...
Found a post on G1 forum about turning pattern lock off using ADB but he has turned off USB debugging
I know I can wipe the phone but he really dont want phone wiped as obv. will loose all his contacts and as its summer holidays wont be easy to get them back
If I flashed a rom (stock or otherwise) would it automatically wipe data? (normally only use clockwork to flash mine and know it gives option but clockwork not an option as cant get in phone) if it didnt wipe data do stock roms normally have debugging enabled? so I could then disable using ADB
or is there any other way? or will I have to bite bullet and wipe it
can't you boot into recovery using power and volume down, and aren't the contacts in sync with your gmail?
There are some methods on this link you can try
http://einartysen.se/unlock-android-phone-after-too-many-pattern-attempts/
Also how many times did you try?!! Usually it locks for a little while
It is running a stock rom unrooted so no recovery mode
Contacts are synced with gmail but no good as we cant access gmail account
Dont know how many times it was tried but lock seems permanent, has been stuck on that for hours now and even turning off/on dont clear it
oh and I have tried everything in that site already btw
lol this really bites, how old is your son? does he have a zillen and a half contacts? does he have an paid apps associated with gmail? if your answers are; under 10, no, and no. then it might just be easier to scrap and redo... :|
other then that your choices are to either remember the pin or the password to the gmail account
and did calling the phone but pressing the home button really not work? cause i really would like to know that one for future reference.
yeah you're only option now is to do a factory reset.

Did you not give gmail an alternative email in case of situations where you forgot your password? If you did then you can just request your password sent to that.
Once you get the gmail password it's just a case of factory reset, set up gmail account and gmail should have all contacts backed up.
If your son is on facebook, they have probably "stolen" all the contacts already and you can get them back from there.

that's a great idea, get your son to log into his face book and if he's used the face book application from his phone recently then his account will contain all of his contacts and their numbers

[Q] forgot password & wifi off

My friend forgot the password of his transformer. He thinks he left the wifi switched off, so he couldn't get the "Sign in to google to unlock" to work.
he doesn't want to reset everything and lose his data, so is there any way to fix it? can I root it and delete some file to remove the password?
Bump

Try this. They mention an app that will unlock your screen at every reboot. If he does have any sort of connectivity (which you can see even if the screen is locked) you can push the app from the play store, then just reboot your device. Otherwise it's factory reset it seems... thought there's probably a way through ADB, just can't help you there. But if you figure where the stored password is, you may be able to manually remove it somehow.

Well if it's connected then problem solved because he can unlock with Google password. Thanks though. (I haven't heard from him so I'm not sure what he did)

Factory reset now stuck on "Verify your account"

hello,
Last night I had to put my phone in ultra power saving mode and this morning it won't go back to normal mode. I did a factory reset using the home, vol up and home. I'm now stuck at the Verify your account. I added my Gmail( same account that was on the phone). I get a message saying "please sign in using one of the owner's accounts for this device." I then reset the password with a new one and still giving me that message that it's wrong email account. I'm able to login on the desktop no problem. The phone is unable to accept my email/pass. I called Sprint they are unable to help me. Any idea?
Please help!
Thanks
If you had reactivation lock turned on, that might be the problem. You'll need to search for the fix, I've seen it before but I never saved the thread.

I called Google. They told me to wait 72 HRs. Sprint/Samsung was not very helpful. It's crazy because I'm able to login in my Gmail desktop.

LG Stylo Cricket (H63410g) Google FRP lock bypass...stuck, requesting input

Hello,
Long time lurker, first time poster, so forgive me in advance for any rules I've overlooked. I'll start by saying I am the legitimate owner of the phone. I have searched all over for information regarding FRP bypass for this particular phone and version, but have come up with nothing. I believe I found a method that gets me halfway to the goal, but I'm stuck at a particular point. Let me quickly go through what I've done so far;
1) After factory reset, from the main setup screen, go into accessibility.
2) At the bottom, click Switch Access.
3) Enable Switch Access, and then click settings in the lower right.
4)At the bottom, click Assign Keys to Actions
5) At the bottom, assign a key press to overview. I use volume down.
6) Back out to the device setup home screen.
7) Click through until you reach the network selection screen.
8) You will need to connect to a network that requires sign-in through a browser. The xfinity hotspots work the best.
9) Once connected to xfinity, the phone will auto open Chrome.
10) Use a free trial for xfinity hotspot, or log in with your comcast credentials.
11) Search google for "google maps", and find the result for google maps.
12) when you click on the google maps link, it will open a menu asking you to choose either chrome or the maps app.
13) select the maps app, and do a search for a random business that has a phone number.
14) Once the business info comes up, click call.
15) This will open the phone app. From there, go into the settings, and click on sound settings.
16) Voila! This brings you to the settings menu.
Now, my issue. It seems there is no way (or no option at least) to do a soft system restore from within the operating system. Now, I have tried disabling various apps, and stopping various proccesses in order to remove whatever process is responsible for the FRP notice, but to no avail. Ive even rooted the device and uninstalled anything I could think might be the culprit.
What do we do next folks??
Halp!
Thanks.:good:
I had this happen to me earlier and used this method. www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=b7xlXPDBxmY Just go download the file over at his blog. Put the phone in download mode and pick option #2. His phone reboots automatically in the video. Mine didn't, but I just powered it off and back on. I then had the option to skip past the the email portion.
just unplug ur router exactly when the phone says checking for updates and it'll let you skip the whole Google account thing. but you have to do it at the perfect time. took me 5 or 6 tries but it worked[emoji56]

Bumping to see if there's been another legit solution. I too have an LG G Stylo locked with the FRP. I've tried reflashing stock firmware, I've tried the Tungkick software, I've tried 6th_hokage's sofrware too, still no success.

Thanks but no, doesn't work. The overview and allow from unknown sources features have been patched. Can't use either option despite being able to backdoor into the browser, downloading the app, and even selecting it to install.
Interesting. What version numbers do you have?

Im having this problem as well, any help would be greatly appreciated
easy peasy
Look I nuked my phone I'm typing on a tripped out barcode scanner. I used lg backup to get through on my stylo. After the reset try and connect to a generic WiFi and then do a screen shot and share it via email that will get you on the web and then you should be able to search for and open up the settings app by choosing manage accounts while in the browser. Once your in settings clear all data on every app that says Google. But if you clear setup wizard you should be good. Then you should be able to restart as a new device
Try disabling the Set Up Wizard

what's the trick?
No matter what you do if you can use any method to access the settings app/page from there you can go into the apps section and just disable the setup wizard and you'll get into the phone.
Ive been working on this for hours it feels like, last time i bypassed in ten minutes (different phone). Wont allow me to disable setup wizard or google play services, what options are there? Everything i have tried they have blocked ...
