I did the OTA update to 4.04, but noticed that I'm still on Sense 4.0. I've seen on the news that Sense 4.1 is out. Is there something I'm missing?

Its only available for the international/tegra 3 one x. If you want it on the ATT verison, you would have to root and flash a port of it. (which you cant BTW since you updated to 4.0.4)

Thank you Do you think it will come to the AT&T version? I have been tempted to root this phone, because I was pretty active in ROMs on the Samsung Captivate, but I opted to wait for the JB update to see how the OTA runs. And I'm sure AT&T's 4.04 will be rooted in the future.
4.1 is also on 2.29 that was just released to o2 users in Germany.
There is nothing wrong with ports as long as the developer knows how to properly port it. My ports are 100% flawless and working fine, Since no one wants to post the 2.29 RUU for any developers we have to port from other public RUU's or system dumps.

Here is the complete changelog based on observations http://phandroid.com/2012/08/05/sen...to-blaze-through-quadrant-scores-nearly-6000/. Listing it down here for lazy users like me
Live wallpaper lag has been fixed
There’s a dedicated button in the Camera app to switch between Front/Backward facing cameras. (earlier you’d have to go into the menu for that.)
A dedicated button to switch tabs in the browser. (You’d have to go into the menu for that, too)
Complete removal of all 3D-Effects in the launcher leading to a completely lag-free experience.
Probably the most important- Rebased on Android 4.0.4
Added ability to remap the recent apps button/ Long-press recent apps/ Long-press Home as Menu. (yes, it removes the Virtual menu bar) under Settings->Display, Gestures and Buttons
New, blazing fast kernel. We mean it. It scored a pretty impressive 59oo+ in Quadrant benchmark (compared to 5100+ on Sense 4)
Wifi-dropping/ Icon showing weak signal Fixes.
Better Battery life- 5 Hour+ Screen-on time as compared to a measly 3 Hour+ on Sense 4.

Even without the sense 4.1 update. The 4.0.4 update has a few of those upgrades (remaping)
I have also noticed the battery life and speed are noticeably better with just the 4.0.4. It's a whole new phone.

I agree. Battery life is insane. I last a whole day with gaming on my phone.
But the 0 3D effects will help with the lag on the homescreen so that's the only reason I want the Sense 4.1 launcher

Yea, it's just tweaked and less obvious. Helps improve rosie scrolling speed etc.
Thanx for that info shank!!!
Unfortunately, as a noob I upgraded my AT&T 1X to 4.0.4
Typically how long does a root take to appear for most updates!?
Do you think the root for 4.0.4 will be held back because JB is so close!?

Root is available as soon as an exploit is found, if and when an official jb release is given it will then be a whole new issue for root as more than likely the exploit is patched or would no longer work due to firmware changes etc, it seems there must be an independent root method for each build. no universal deal unless HTC overlooks the exploit being used which 99.9% of the time they don't.

This is a quote from another post but pretty much sums it up
"From all I've gathered through this community, Rosie is like a theme on steroids - HTC uses it as a key piece of branding across nearly all their devices. In addition to being the main user interface in terms of widgets, buttons, launcher, etc it also includes an number of hooks and tweaks into core Android itself designed to make the experience more friendly for non-geek users (no insult implied!)."

I know some are having problems achieving root and S-OFF on their MT4G's that ship with 2.3.4.
A dev named Frigid has made a pretty powerful program that does that for you in no time.
Here's the link: http://itechnow.com/root-s-off-unlo...-3g4g-inspire-awesome-with-htc-super-tool-v2/
Obviously all credits go to him, so maybe that might be of help to some new users having problems downgrading and such.
Holy crap. Can anyone confirm this works on 2.3.4?
Nice find by the way.

My comment in another thread:
Jack_R1 said:
If they're just using gfree "as is" - then it won't work on Panache, and won't work on MT4G either. Unless gfree was updated and I don't know of a new version, it can't deal with 0.89.0005 bootloader on MT4G with Android 2.3.4 and on Panache.
Judging by the comments, the author of the script just grabbed several tools and put them together in one menu, he didn't change any of them and most of the comments state that this "tool" doesn't work for their phones.

Didn't find them yet. I guess it depends on a specific ROM. I'm using VA 1.48.
In VU 2.39 I found 3 bugs. 1 visual, 2 made me switch to Sense 3.5 eventually, one was fixed (flash in camera on auto settings), one wasn't crashing the phone anymore (calendar events in Exchange mail - 1st recipient changed).
NEW VERSION IN TEST PHASE - COMING SOON
UTB-ROM for the HTC One S gives you a clean, no fuzz, CM9/AOSP based ROM.
Version 2.0 marks the start of the future. As we anxiously await the kernel drivers from HTC, talented developers are making good progress on getting AOSP running smoothly. While there are still some issues floating about, its time to start building the base for the new ROM.
Description
You have two options. v1.0.6 gives you an AOSP-like experience but with the comfort of the original stock HTC ROM as base. Most things work as expected. However, if you enjoy living on the bleeding edge, version 2.0 gives you an CM9 based ROM which will get some bleeding edge extras along the way. Version 2.0 is still very early in development and is currently pretty identical to a stock CM9 ROM, but I wanted to give a taste of what is coming.
Highlighted Features v2.0
CM9-base
Google Play Music
OLED-Optimized ICS Boot animation (true black levels)
Latest Google apps included for your convenience
Note that this is just an introductory release. It is plagued by the same bugs as the other AOSP/CM9 based ROM's are. But we are making good progress and soon we will get all bugs figured out, Im certain!
Highlighted Features v1.0.6
Stock Android apps (Trebuchet launcher, Android Messaging app, Android Contacts, etc, compiled from source)
Stock Android ICS notification bar
Most of the included HTC apps are long gone
Based on the new 1.64.997.1 kernel
Zipaligned
Just feels good!
Changelog
v1.0.6
Picasaweb added (syncing works, uploading is still an issue.. maybe because of this)
ICS Live Wallpapers
Updated Gallery app (Now shows your online photos)
1.0.5
Removed CruiserPwrExpert - A ridiculous logging tool from HTC that does nothing but drain your battery.
Removed the HTC Gallery
Removed HTC Music
Added AOSP Email and Exchange
Added Google Play Music
Added AOSP Gallery
Known Issues v1.0.6
Unlock required before answering call (Hard to fix as its a compatibility issue with Sense)
The HTC Camera is for some reason not willing to open the ICS Gallery for previews.
NOTE: If you are coming from a different base ROM than the one you are flashing, a full data wipe is encouraged and recommended.

Yeah, I left the stock HTC camera app and gallery app. The reason for this is the unique features of the ImageSense chip which I didnt quite get to work with the stock camera app.
HTC's settings are also still in as well as the HTC Music app, but I might be removing that in the next version. Unfortunately, until we get AOSP running on the One S, it will be difficult to escape HTC's customized stuff completely. But I am trying to get as close as I can without breaking anything.
In terms of bugs, I am still trying to resolve answering calls without having to unlock the screen. Apart from that, I havent found any other serious issues yet.
Feedback is most welcome though. Ive just made a ROM to satisfy my desires and needs

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know the foundation is stable and solid.
Is there an easy way to change the behaviour of the app switch button in here? I'd find it more useful to switch between apps than as a menu button.
Hmm haven't thought about it. Just made more sense to have a menu button. If you long-click the home button you get the app switcher though

Problem is that when you don't assign menu to one of the buttons you get the onscreen menu button back...

The on-screen button doesn't really bother me. At least it tips you off that there are hidden settings in some apps. Over time there should be less need for a menu button anyway. Guess it's just a preference of mine, but very awesome ROM otherwise!
Shame there's no live wallpapers though.

Is everyone experiencing better battery life with this ROM? Also, what is the issue exactly with screen unlock? When you update the ROM, will we have to wipe? Do you know how long before answering calls bug is resolved? I happen to enjoy this version of Sense versus the older ones but I'm all for trying a "lighter" version of the OS.

To be honest, I didnt really use my device much before I flashed it, so its hard to answer the question of battery life with any certain degree of accuracy. But battery life is great for me and Im sure the new kernel doesnt do it harm either.
The screen unlock issue isnt really an issue, but more a HTC - Android AOSP incompatibility problem. When an incoming call occurs while the phone is locked, you have to unlock the screen first before being able to click the answer-button.
Hello..
very great rom.. i'd like to know if there is a battery mod for this rom!

Don't think its that easy. I was under the impression the framework from sense based roms wouldn't work with non-sense roms like cyanogen and such. Things may have changed though.
And isn't there some scaling issues with one x being a larger screen size and all....I'm curious as well

Yes it possible! However, I don't think anyone is working on it since the update for our phone is supposed to be out before the month is over. Don't make a bunch of sense to hack something together only for the official release to come out 2-3 weeks later.

It's not possible. Well it is possible but it would be unusable. The framework needs to be resized from XHDPI to qHD and that isn't even possible because of the m10 images that we aren't able to replace. If you didn't replace it, you won't be able to use any of the phone because everything would be too large.

If you like a stable, smooth experience, then CM10 is for you. If you like unlimited customizations and pink, sparkly unicorns all over your phone, the AOKP is the way to go. If you enjoy using a tablet interface on a screen much too small for it, then Paranoid is your answer. I myself prefer CM10 but your opinion may differ
i will reply to this question the way i reply to all of them

Is there any AOSP 4.1 rom out there with wifi tethering working on black screen?
That would definitely be my favorite one, tried a few, went back to 4.0.4 cause of tethering!
For speed and battery life, I would recommend baked black bean, and then add the CPU editor init.d. script and set it to battery and performance. By far the most responsive and least battery drain.
I also use the justunbean inverted gapps. Just tryina squeeze all the battery I can out of this lol

My desire xs Rom is a complete port of the desire x, personally I think it is one of the smothest sense 4 roms we have, (although as its my Rom a am more than a little biased to be fair.) The camera fully works in all modes (burst, capture while filming, etc) why not give it a try, and give it a direct comparison to your friends Desire X. I have only done a quick comparison with a display model in my local phone store so would be really interested to hear back on a real world comparison.
