What types of mods would you guys like to see, if they are possible? I've been helping beanstown with xml and minor smali tweaks, but I want to reach out and potentially develop or port features.
Already done/available:
- Long press volume buttons for song change (bean's ROM)
Being worked on:
- 3G/4G toggle (lidroid)
- Option of having an Android settings menu toggle button (lidroid)
Others mentioned:
- Long press of back button to kill apps
- Settings menu to change the color of the clock and battery percentage text
- Take pictures using volume button in camera
- Hold down home button for torch while on lockscreen
- Choose app to launch with double tap of home button
- Sense-like recent apps layout/control
- Weather panel in the notification bar
- Music controls on lockscreen
Keep suggesting mods, and once I've completed the 2 currently being worked on, I'll start having you guys choose a few from the full list and give your order or preference to have them achieved.

For the lidroid toggles:
- 3G/4G toggle, or at least a toggle taking you to the same menu that the app Phone Info does (currently in progress)
- Settings toggle, giving you the option to remove the added space taken up by the date & setting button (currently in progress)
Others:
- Long press of back button to kill apps
- Long press volume buttons to switch songs
- Settings menu to change the color of the clock and battery percentage text

1. Long press back for kill app
2. Double click home = whatever app you chose(I would use camera) . I know there is a market app that does something like this called home2. But it is a launcher. I want something built into framework. That would be sweet.
2. Camera mods - volume = shutter.
3. Hold power button at lock screen and or sleeping = torch/flashlight
4. Double click home button when sleeping wakes the phone and unlocks it without any further action.
5. Many more I will add once I
remember

Forgot another I'm working on - music controls on the lockscreen so you don't need to pull the notification bar down (quicker when running, driving, etc.)
Would you guys like a battery toggle to go into your battery stats?
How is this thread useless when the things are actually being developed? Thanks.

They're all possible, aside from maybe the 4G toggling.. at least doing it directly and not having to go into the Device Info and changing the preferred network type (basically a true toggle instead of a shortcut to a menu). It's why I'm first focusing on this to see if it's at all possible with some extra coding. If not, a simple shortcut toggle will be available in the lidroid 15 toggle mod that takes you to the menu where you can change between 3G and 4G.
After this thread is a little more populated with wishes/requests, I'll change the OP w/ all the ones listed by people and have people put their top 5 in order of importance to them and begin my development from there.
Bean's ROM already includes switching songs with a long press of the volume buttons.

These are theme changes and not actually development mods. You'll want to head to the theme section of the forums for that, but I'll be making a "theme workshop" thread sometime soon. The thread will include a quick means for people to modify their own status bar icons, xml edits, and people submitting their current SystemUI.apk for myself or other themers to quickly make their wanted edits.
Long press volume to change tracks, remapping of hard keys so you can have the menu key open recents, and a brightness toggle in the notifications bar. All for stock odexed I'd be set after that.
Huge request-
Phone app opens to last used tab, ie favorites or recent, rather than to keypad. Silimar to AOSP. I f*cking hate how keypad ALWAYS opens, makes me wanna throw my phone out my car window when calling people....:anger:
Keep in mind I was still on B6
Edit - I see you're on b8 now, sorry if this is already implemented, flashing now

I have a bounty going for the mod to skip tracks while holding the volume buttons when screen is off. I will pay for a flashable zip for stock rooted vzw
Also would love to get rid of the damn gps icon in the notification bar.
I haven't tried beans ROM yet. But maybe in the future!
* 4G / 3G toggle
* Hold home button during lock screen to enable torch 4 is long is the button is hell. This was in the MIUI ROM I still use on my Droid 1 I now use for stand alone GPS.
* Volume control for taking picture while camera app is loaded. Both can take pictures or 1 can focus and the other take picture.

Trailblazer101's Ticker Modification Package!
Hey All, finally decided to release this package of mine
Before I begin, I'd like to share that this should be flashed on a plain EC09/EC07 rom, deodexed and all... I would prefer if you tried it on EC07 clean, and if you try it on Miunia and it doesn't work, that's why It replaces almost all of the Framework files, for compatibility, but I'll guess we'll see
What this Mod Does:
-removed unnecessary "0" in front of times below "10"
-Holding down on the date/time acts as a button, with customizable text taking the place of the date, and the color of the time changing... When released, two different things could happen: If screen is off, then it'll unlock the phone; if its on, then it'll open the Clock Package!
-Now, to open up the WeatherBug program from the Weather Icon, you must hold the icon down until the beautiful overlay appears... Then release, and it'll open! This prevents accidental bumps, which happened to me all the time... [I'm left handed ]
-Long-Pressing the "Missed Notification" icons will open up the given screen, whether you have any notifications or not! Very Handy
-The New Event Ticker Screen, including the New Message, Email, and etc, now behaves like the RSS Ticker Screen--Adding a Nice blue color when touched, to indicate it has been...
-Also my "Blue-Wave" Mod with "New Events" is in there too
-New, easier to look at StandbyView format... I like it lots Matches what the boot animation looks like, which i always loved
-In Ticker Music View, the Song name now scrolls when it is too big! Nice little touch *Will not scroll when the music is paused, and you then skip songs, and after for the first song after minimizing the "MusicPlayer" app... (Because you should've already of seen the full title!)
-Quick Launch Menu! Hold down the "Ticker History Button" from anywhere (*as long as Ticker Music Screen isn't active with Music Playing) to launch the Quick Launch Menu! These icons provide an easy way to get to your favorite, predetermined (Sorry, ) programs.. Pressing the Close button will do just that
-Standby Screen! Have you ever been in your room, dark as could be, with "Screen Filter" on to lower the brightness of the screen, but then you notice that the ticker is not affected, and your eyes begin to water ? Maybe it's not that extreme, but if you hold down the close button revealed after holding down the Ticker History Button, you are greeted with a black screen with some clickable gentle-to-look at text. Clicking the text will bring you back to the normal screen!
- Completely Redone "Return to Call" Mod is included! Now includes four buttons, Return To, Mute, Speaker, and End the Call Buttons are completely working, with notification light indicating that they are on! This took me a longggg timeee to do, a project that has been going on for at least a year, on and off... It took so long, because I had to completely incorporate the speaker and mute buttons into the phone, because what if you push the speaker button from the status bar, and not the ticker? Everything needed to be linked... I edited Phone.apk, framework.jar, framework-res, and services.jar in order to get it to work perfectly, like it does today

any chance you can make the clock on the Ticker centered? Always bugged me to see it off-center right above the Samsung logo that is nicely centered, especially when the ticker history button and weather buttons are removed.
Yeah, I could do that probably
Just because you don't have any new messages, missed calls, emails, voicemails, or IMs doesn't mean the icons in the Missed Notification Screen should go to waste Why not make it so tapping them opens up their respective apps anyways, making a quick, convenient shortcut Oh, and the Voicemail icon is remapped to Google Voice

Yes. The low rating was from the notifications not working at first. Just make sure accessibility is on. This is our testing app for our newest project being released tonight. This was our first attempt at a statusbar replacement. Check out ICS StatusBar by us for a higher rating
Just published update.

This may not be the answer you want, but it is IMPOSSIBLE for an app to tell when a notification is cleared
When i say that, i really mean it. So far anyways...
So, you will have to learn to clear it by opening the app and the statusbar will clear the icon. I know annoying. But when you open the app it only has to be for a second. So click the notification, wait .1 of a second, click home and its cleared lol.
In the future i will add a notification button to the drop down menu of the statusbar panel that will clear all icons off the statusbar if any get stuck.

It really depends. On my NS it stays under 24mb, but some people report it higher. Try clearing its cache, turn it off, restart it to frefresh it if it get too high. It should get too high though.

I came across this in the market few days ago.
Now before I say anything rude, I did everything correct.
This is not at all a jelly bean status bar, when it was pulled down it was stock ICS.
So I'd like to say you should rename this app an ICS status bar. In no way did it resemble Jb.

Also I use apex launchers swipe action to show/hide the bar, hiding it is fine, but when showing it the stock status bar is appears for a second before the jellybean one kicks in, u need to speed it up a bit. Thanks again.

I will keep that in mind! I would love to replace the pull down, but seriously, Android takes security for notifications a little far. There is no control over it. The only fear i have with replacing the pull down is missing notifications that may not appear. That would be pretty bad. But like i said, i will keep it in mind :good:

Not yet, I am trying to keep this as close to a stock as possible. However, there will be some tweeks and additions in the next version.

Find my mobile is a stock Samsung feature that allows you to locate your phone if its lost and erase data if necassary.
Any chance of sharing how you got the track skip with volume button to work on ur Rom? I love this feature.
This ROM looks awesome. In addition to the check boxes for the Time and AM/PM, would it be possible to include the shortened weekday in the status bar in future releases? I really like the look of the centered clock with the AM/PM, but would prefer not to have weekday.
Thanks!

I definately would not say zero difference....
Its a much simpler setup. Less tweeks, scripts, and alterations than most with only the MODs that I like.
A few MODs in this ROM you dont see too often (at least I haven't) would be:
-Removed ongoing notifications from expanded status bar
-Day of week added to status bar
-Optional toggles in settings to remove time and or am/pm from status bar
-Torch from lockscreen
-Inverted email background
Its not ground breaking but it wasnt supposed to be. Just simple and functional.
I tried this ROM the day it was posted. I love having inverted background in email and the torch while locked is very cool, although it would be nice if it toggled vs. having to hold the button. I did have an issue that i didn't try hard to resolve - notification sounds didn't work. Since I've been on a keep it simple and close to stock kick lately (stock on SGS3 is really pretty darn awesome compared to all previous Samsung Android phones) i just reverted to my backup and moved on. I'm going to try this ROM again today and see what happens with notification this time. Thanks, OP, for putting this out for the community!
Yep, still issue with sounds/volume. First sign of trouble came after going in to settings and adjusting system volume. Something is going on with Settings. If fixed I would run this ROM as my DD.
Thanks for the feedback and I am aware of the sound issue. I will be releasing v1.1 in the next day or two with a few new mods including upgrading to the HE.base The audio will be fixed at that time as well.
Okay i know its been a little while but for the 2 or 3 people actually using this here is an update with some new features. I have received quite a few requests forthings but I have only had time to implement a couple for now.
New features for v1.1 are:
Upgraded to LHE base
Fixed some audio issues
Added hotboot to the expanded reboot menu
Added AOSP lockscreen.
I have actually had this done for a couple days but have been racking my brain trying to implement a toggle to the AOSP locscreen so you can switch back and forth on the fly. I am close, maybe on the next update. For know I have added a zip to flash back if you dont like the AOSP lock.
Things I am working on for next update:
AOSP toggle
AOSP lock shortcuts and weather
Day of week toggle
...and a few others.
I will have the new screen shots up shortly. Enjoy and hit that thanks if you like the ROM. Changelog updated now.
Looking forward to checking out the next update! Any possibilities of using the new JB leak?

Floating Soft Keys is a simple app to avail you soft key functionality even in exanded desktop mode or if you don't want to wear out your hard buttons.
Floating Soft Keys makes use of Mark Wei's brilliant StandOut Library so if you like this app, please go and thank him in his thread if you haven't already.
FSK requires root to emulate input key events.
FSK is still in its initial phases so it might give some errors or cause some crashes. Please report to me and give logcat if possible. Also tell me your Android version. This will help make the app better.
MAKING THEMES FOR FSK v1.2+For FSK v1.2+, custom icon support has been added. To make your own custom icon theme, simply do the following:
1. Make 4 PNG images for the 4 buttons having square dimensions (default is 130x130)
2. The PNGs should be named as follows (without the quotes):
"back.png" (for back key)
"home.png" (for home key)
"menu.png" (for menu key)
"drag.png" (for the dragging button)NOTE: Names are case sensitive.
2. Put all these PNGs in one folder. Give the theme name to the folder (e.g. "Holo Keys" or "Black Keys" or "Alicia Keys")
3. Put this folder in the Floating Soft Keys folder found in your SD card (it will appear automatically after running the v1.2 app at least once)
Themes thus created can be used in the v1.2 app by selecting "Use custom icon". You will be prompted to select the icon.
If you would like to share your themes, post em in the thread or PM me. Due credit will be given.
As an example, attached below is a theme called "Bluish tint". You can download it, unzip it and place the "Bluish tint" folder (which is present inside the zip) in your Floating Soft Keys folder on your sdcard. Then you can use it as a theme by selecting "Use Custom Icons" in the app.
USER-CREATED THEMESHere I will post links to various themes created by you folks.
Shadowed White Navigation Keys by churapa
Grey icons by proctologist
Theme thread by Gil81
As of version 1.4.0, new icons were made default to suit the Holo theme. But if you liked the old icons better, you can still download em from this thread. The zip file has been attached.
Check the app out on the Play Store or check its code out on GitHub
Beautiful idea congratulations

For Android 4.1+, long-pressing the Menu icon opens up the recent apps. I am not sure about Android 4.0. But in 2.3 or below, it does not work.

Volume keys I probably can add, but I think power key is not allowed in Android for security concerns. I will check and let you know.
Can you please specify what caused the crash?? Also, which version of the app were you on?? Version 1.1.1 had a known bug that caused FC on older Android versions. That has been fixed in the latest version.

The force close is because long pressing home activates Google Now, which is not there in Gingerbread. Option to customize home long press action has been added in the new update (v1.3) which will be available on Play Store in an hour or so.
very useful. Thanks!
Usefull app...thankyou
installed on my gnex toro running pa 356
just installed and giving it a good run.thanks for the app, great idea adds some versatility to your device.
Simply perfect!
Runs without issues on Omega ROM v23 on my Galaxy S2 I9100!!
Thanks and good work!
Thanks OP this is just what I've been looking for to have a fullscreen experience on my phone and tablet. Is it possible in future to have to option to add custom buttons with custom actions? That would be awesome. Thanks
Well idea is good... since its in initial state of development lacks many basic feature... the response between touch and action is high.. around 1sec
Well dre are few suggestion but the main from my side is that the drag button could also act as expand button, i mean click on drag should expand or shrink the navibar...
Well i confirm Working great with
Samsung galaxy S2 I9100
Slimbean 4.2.2. Build 7
Dorimanx 9.34
Great job mate...!!! :good:
Didn't find any major bugs apart from some layout issues...
lovely app...
here's my wish list for next releases:
- option to hide cross icon (just make invisible)
- customizable press and long press options for all softkeys
- align keys in vertical position, i'd be great to use with one hand having keys on side of screen
- didn't try to import icons from famous navbar icons thread, i'd like to be able to import from there
Just what I've been after for my XOOM, great work :victory:
UUUUU looks nice
I am probably being stupid here but how do you enable these? Trying to use them on my Motorola Atrix which has a partially working screen but I can't use the Menu hardware button, this would solve the problem!
Anyway to start and stop this app using tasker?

One question. Is the do not disturb option like the Touchwiz version that blocks calls also, or is this just quiet hours? Thanks for any response.
