So I own a Samsung Captivate, after I recieve an OTA. During the update process the phone said "Update Fialed" the phone turned off, and never turned back on!
ROFL, your kidding me right....an official AT&T/Samsung Update that bricks your phone? lol...
so anyway, I am not contracted with att at the moment; using go plan. After contactact Samsung and explaing the issue they sent me a mailing sticker and said withing 6 days I would have my phone back, and working.
AT&T SUCKS! I had the phone for less then a week, BROKE THE CONTRACT and then got a go plan! The least they could've done was exchange my phone; jus sayin.
SO ANYWAYS, THANKS TO SMAMSUNG my phone is in the mail.
once they fix it I will update...
SO POINT OF THIS POST IS; DONT OTA!!
My wife and I both have an Inspire 4G. Both on the same contract and both on the same version of ROM and software. Now here's the thing, she recieved the "sideload" update on her phone but I haven't...WTF? how is AT&T rolling out this update?
I never even received a "push" notificiation of the OTA Update (1.84.502.11). I ended up just grabbing the update via my city's free WiFi this morning.
No word yet on the AT&T "sideload" update. I'm not overly concerned, since the Wonder Machine installs my free Amazon Apps without a hitch.
I been on that version for a while and sitll don't have the sideload option.
I just got off the phone with AT&T about the "Allow Unknown Sources" being on my wife’s phone but not mine. Apparently they are having issues internally with pushing out this update. They are working on the problem and those who have not received the update will....eventually.
so after the OTA yesterday from verizon i started having issues. i started getting notifications saying my phone was roaming (even though im not really roaming) data no longer works just wi-fi did some research found out t-mobile users had the same issue back in july with the GS3. has anyone else had this problem yet? im not sure how to fix it i tried installing 4 different ROMs and they all show i am roaming also. verizon doesnt have a clue on what to do so they are sending me another GS3 but i dont think it will be any different since t-mobile useres did the same thing and even on the new device the issue continued. any help would be appreciated.
p.s i have tried the sim card trick the browser clear etc lol
What update did you get from Verizon? Is it the Oct 5 that has been going out?

Assuming you didn't back up your IMEI, correct?

no I got the notification on the 29 unless i do have a malfunctioning phone and it was the oct 5th update LOL. Well finally someone at verizon informed me that they know about the issue people are calling in left and right about it and their tech team is working on a solution. still upsetting tho seeing the stupid roaming signal when im not roaming.
Got a buddies stock GS3 from VZW, never rooted. About a week ago it showed "roaming" and is still stuck in roaming mode. He can call out and data works fine. He just took the OTA update that was released today or yesterday. Still stuck in roaming.
Aside from doing a factory reset, what suggestions can I get to check for?
Note: He went to a VZW store and was told it's a problem with Samsungs SW and several other ppl have come in a complained. He was told to give a couple of days until Samsung releases a sw update. Last time I checked all updates are through VZW.
Thanks for the help
Nothing?
Hi,
i've bought the 8x 10 days ago and after i've activated it i got some update which pumped the OS version to 8.0.10211.204 and everytime i check for update i got the message that i'm already up to date , although the GDR2 update is available for All Unlocked Devices such mine , what may be the problem ? any other one have an unlocked device and didn't get the update yet ?
Thanks
I have an unlocked HTC 8X too and I still haven't got the GDR2 update and it happens the same thing to mine. What's wrong?
none here either.. What's the os number for the update
There was an error in GDR2 for HTC 8X which bricked the phone (the audio chip overheated after a longer while of playing music or video and the phone got to unresponsive state, in many cases it needed to be sent to a service center). Therefore, HTC pulled the update and is now working on a fix.

Are you sure about that? I mean... I still see people on the net getting the GDR2 update, and still getting some problems with it. Does it have to do with an update that I recently got (not gdr2) that updated the radio on my phone? Radio software version now is 1.14b.
Waiting
I have also waiting for GDR2 update..
all other lumia devices has received it ..
HTC seems to be pushing the update out again.
International 8X wasn't using it when the update first started then I checked for an update, but that was when they stopped so it said it was up to date. Earlier today I checked and it updated just fine.
It was two WP updates and an HTC update.
8.0.10327.41
8.0.10327.77
HTC Update
Radio: 1.17b
Bootloader: 0.0.3030.0(173542
So far I haven't gotten any issues, but have been using my One until now so lets see!
If anything check for an update if you havent gotten it yet, just to see.
Exactly, yesterday the HTC 8X started getting GDR2 update again, apparently the sound issue is fixed (because the bootloader and firmware are higher versions in comparson with the original, buggy GDR2 for 8X). I have had no problem so far, but Data Sense is still missing.

I haven't got the GDR2 update yet, for my unlocked 8X in India. I had flashed the stock Asia ROM on it (although it originally had a European ROM). It was built for Orange, UK.
Firmware 1532.20.20100.707
Radio 1.13b
Bootloader 165610

I have the GDR2 update and until now, the only bug i saw is when i'm on a call, i get "SIM ERROR".. The phone stops detecting the sim card! I have to wait a few minutes until the phone recognises the card again :/
i got the update yesterday and i'm currently installing it , hope everything goes well
try removing and reinserting the SIM...I think the SIM error is just a coincidence. Also, try putting a small piece of tape or two on the back of it. There were some old posts about people having issues. I put some tape on mine when I first got it and never had a problem.
Also, Lucky!!!! It still hasn't hit T-mobile Branded devices in the US
How do i put the tape on the sim? Can you help me?
the error is getting more frequent
edit - I tried to cover the back of the sim card, (the zone with the logo from vodafone) and i still got the error.
Finally available here in Mauritius. So far no problems. The update run well and the battery seems far better even if need some more time to be sure about that.
