So I have been playing around with my Verizon S3, I have been swapping between different ROMS then all of a sudden my radio goes out. I now get 0 signal no matter what ROM I'm on. The odd thing is that I was switching in between ROMS that I had already used. I have tried downloading a radio but still no luck with that. Now I'm on a completely stock ROM but still no signal, any idea's? I also manually selected Verizon for the network. On some of the other ROMS it showed my number as something incorrect, now on the stock ROM it shows my actual number.
I haven't had the phone for more than 3 days, since I'm on a completely stock ROM and the binary is still at 0. Am I just best off bringing it into Verizon? Or is there some fix that I'm overlooking?
Thank you in advance for the help.

Have to try factory reset? if stills not working, seems like your SIM card is messup. Make sure you have stock rom, go to Verizon store ask for new sim card (it's free) and ask them to re activate it.

I just did a factory reset on the stock Verizon rom and I still had 0 luck, I'll go into Verizon tomorrow and get it straightened out. Thank you very much guys, this has turned me away from wanting to load ROMs a little
Edit: Just an update, I went to Verizon and they could not get my phone to accept a new sim card. Since I just got it within 14 days they had to give me a new phone because the other phone would not take another sim card and would not activate. I'm not exactly sure why this happened, I was just flashing between ROMs that I already knew worked.

Device locking is done in the operating system, not the physical device. I have yet to see a custom ROM or ASOP to be sim locked.
Now keep in mind, the phone won't show APN's for other networks when you insert your SIM card. What is going on here is the device is reading your sim card to identify the provider then set the proper APN as default. To test if it's unlocked, try a different SIM in the device and see what happens.
Edit: I'm assuming you are talking about a SIM lock. If it's a lock of some other sort, please provide more details with EXACTLY what is going on.

Hello, first i want to thank you for your help.
My phone is unlocked for all providers except one provider(VIP).When i put (VIP) sim card,it says "emergency call only".I tried to Restore default APN,but when i press that it just says "Restoring default APN networks",after a while,it says it is completed, but still there it says"emergency call only".If i try to call anyone,it says Mobile network not available. When i go to "About Phone" menu, then "Status" it says:
Network-Unknown
Service state-Out of service
Roaming-Not roaming
Mobile network state-Disconnected
Other informations:
Model number-Nexus s
Android version-2.3.6
Baseband version-I9020AUCKF1

So this is it,my phone is locked to only one provider(VIP),if i put any other sim card provider(Tele2,BonBon,Tmobile...)the phone is working well,i can call anyone, text etc.Thank you in fowards...

This is NOT a sim lock. What is going on is that your phone has lost it's APN settings or is using the wrong modem. a sim lock means that your phone will only work with 1 provider, installing the SIM from a different provider will give you an error message similar to this: ‘SIM not valid’, ‘SIM locked’ or ‘SIM not accepted’
Since the phone is working on other providers, i would believe that the phone has lost it's APN settings for VIP. I would look up the APN settings for VIP and manually put them into the phone and go from there.
A quick search found a thread with the APN settings:

Try to flash another Radio. I never had luck with KF1, and quite frankly it kept me from getting any service at all for like 2-3 reboots after.
Try KD1, or KB3 (those work for me).
Reboot a few times, and see if it works.

Hi,
I am facing a similar issue. My Nexus S is running on 4.0.3 with baseband version I9023XXKI1 (Got it in UK, unable to use it in India). No matter what SIM I insert it stays in Out of service mode. Can you please suggest which Radio version I can flash to get rid of this issue? Please help!!

Sorry if this has been covered somewhere, but I read through a lot of posts and none of them seem to be the same thing I am seeing.
I upgraded from the RemICS 1.3.1 to the JB v2 , and now my phone no longer sees any SIM card I put into it. I have tried multiple SIM cards, none of them work. I reinstalled back to froyo, and could see my SIM card. Then I went to gingerbread, could still see it, then I installed this ROM, and the SIM card is once again unavailable.
I have tried using a few different modems, but they do not seem to be making any difference. Any ideas?
This is what I see after I install the JB v2 ROM:

Yes, I was able to repeat the process. I went back to Froyo, then upgraded to GB, then to JB. Same issue.
I also want to clarify, I cleared all cache before installing each ROM. I also tried clearing cache after installing the ROM, but it made no difference. I even went so far as to use the advanced option for formatting the different folders /boot, /system, etc., then doing the reinstall from Froyo, but that made no difference either. I stopped short of formatting the entire internal SD card since I didn't think this was the problem.
Hello mate,
it happen the same for me. I solved the problem following the instruction in this link:
http://www.androidfamily.net/2012/0...g-galaxy-s-gt-i9000-via-remics-jb-custom-rom/
Once you have installed it, you can recheck the sim lock box. It workded for me.
Good luck!

Thank you! I will give it a try adding this step to the process. I am assuming it is the same even though mine is the i897 instead of the i9000. I'll report back on my experience.
Disable SIM lock of your Galaxy S GT-I9000 by going to “Settings > Location and Security > SIM Card Lock”.

I went into Settings > Security > and i see Set up SIM card lock. It is already disabled.
I was able to get it to work. WOOT!
I am not sure exactly what did it, but I think this is it...
Based on the SIM lock not being set, I decided to start messing around with it and I ended up locking the SIM using a key code from the number pad. Woops, didn't really mean to do that, but I was following some instructions on how to unlock the phone completely. Well, the only problem I had from there was I couldn't get the unlock code...I rebooted my phone and did a recovery. However, even after recovery, my phone noticed that something had changed with the SIM and I was prompted for a PUK code. Fortunately, you can get this from the AT&T website. So I logged in, did the code, my phone was now unlocked. I went into the settings and looked and the SIM card was now set to locked. I unchecked the box and unlocked it. Then I did the upgrade again and it worked this time.
Thanks again for your suggestion!
I have a LG Stylo 2 an it's doing the same how can I fix this it's showing no signal an no sim
I made the mistake of not meeting at the Verizon store and bought a Galaxy S3 off Craigslist. It has a clean esn but it won't read the 4G sim card. I found out it was flashed to Cricket so I used Odin to flash it back to the original rom that came with the version of the phone which changed it to Baseband version: I535VRLEC but this still won't work it still has the same problem reading the Verizon 4G Sim.
I guess my question is... if there is a different rom I should flash it too? Or is it that once it has been flashed from Verizon to Cricket it can't flashed back to be used on Verizon again?
I would just get a new sim card from Verizon, that may resolve your issues. A few questions:
1) Does it still make calls and texts? The main issue is it doesn't connect to LTE? Maybe I'm not understanding your issue entirely.
2) Does the phone have your phone number and matching IMEI (labeled on the retail box) listed in Settings/About Phone?
You could Odin the stock image VRALF2, VRALEC was a pre-release image. Do not accept the OTA then dial *2767*3855# to reprovision the sim card. Maybe see if this resolves your issues.

Well when I brought the phone in the first time to get it activated I was switching from a Droid X so they gave me a new 4G Sim card. But yeah it won't make calls or texts and it won't connect to there 4G data network or pick up the sim.
So are you saying changing it from VRALEC to VRALF2 might fix it?

What I was saying is that normally people Odin to VRALF2 or VRALG1 then reprovision their sim card. That code will work on VRALEC but I was just trying to put you on a common starting point since we here don't really use the VRALEC stock tar in Odin. Primarily what you'll find in the stickies are VRALF2 and newer images. VRALF2 was the "store bought" earliest software version of the Verizon GSIII from the summer. Its worth a try but consider the following first.
Since you said it doesn't call/text then I think you lost your IMEI. Could you check for me under Settings/About Phone? It should be 15 random numerical digits if I'm not mistaken. If its not 15 digits, it will be 0 or several 0's. Don't post the exact number if it is 15 digits, but tell me what you see.

No I didn't lose the IMEI it's still there, all 15 digits.
So is it possible to flash a Galaxy S3 from Verizon to Cricket. Then back to Verizon? Is it just a matter of changing to the right software?

Honestly I know nothing about flashing to another carrier. It's not something that I have a reason to research so I'm not knowledgeable in that area. My suggestion still is to run that reprovision code since you've already Odin flashed to VRALEC.
EDIT: To clarify, my suggestion is Odin VRALF2 then run the dialer code.
Just as a precaution, you should write down your IMEI, ERI, and maybe even your MIN and PRL version and store them somewhere on your computer. Since you don't actually have the retail box, this should be kept safe if we can't get this current situation straightened out. My reasoning is if you do somehow lose these before you're 100% fixed, having them written down may help you if you need to use one of the IMEI or ERI tools in the dev section.

Ahh, great! When you do just make sure to root, unlock your bootloader, make a nandroid backup in CWM or TWRP recovery, then use the "Comprehensive IMEI /EFS Backup" thread to properly backup your IMEI.
I encourage you to flash roms until you find something you like. I'll suggest that you stay with touchwiz roms then see whether sticking with Samsung's software in its various forms is good enough for you. If not, there's plenty of AOSP to go around!
So you just followed step 5 on the link above and it worked? (flashing with 4.0.4 ROM)
I'm going through a similar issue and been having a hell of a time getting mine to work. Mine was flashed to work on nTelos which is a CDMA provider in my area. I have flashed to just about everything possible (except 4.0.4) and haven't had any luck.
I went to the Verizon store and they tried to activate the phone but they couldn't but game me a sim to use and told me to call back if and when I could get it flashed back.
I tried at one point to take a working sim from another phone but it will not activate..... will not make calls, will not get data etc etc. when I dial 611 it still goes to ntelos.
Someone suggested putting Phone info on and setting the Phone to RUIM but I could not find that setting in Phone Info (even on the correct phone info, after time I found out the original phone info was pulled from the play store and I had to manually download it.
Anyway with the SIM I have and following section 5 as suggested mine does not give the option to accept or deny the OTA so I can try to enter the re-provision code. Should I get hold of the known working SIM to attempt this?
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
The key to this however is to have a working SIM (the only one in our workplace was from an iPhone 5), I fashioned a nano SIM to mini SIM adapter and got the info on to the phone then my phone could finally be activated however the nano SIM I used got tied to my phone and couldn't be put back to the iPhone 5 it came from lmao... so I had to run to the Verizon store to get my co-workers phone re-activated.
But going down to the 4.0.4 and VRLEC modem then inserting the active sim, reprovision once it activates (it didnt give me the option to not allow it to do anything), then insert the mini sim, call Verizon they got it activated, I just now updated back to 4.1.1 (need to get 4.1.2) and everything is working wonderfully!!
All of this info is extremely refreshing to hear since I have the same problem with one exception. My s3 has a bad charger port. Sent it in for warranty repair and Samsung said it was moisture damaged and corroded and is not covered under warranty (lies). But that is beside the point and another subject.
My question is, can all of this stuff be done through the sd card and not through the USB? I know it is a long shot but any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I know this thread is a little old but I just wanted to say thanks, the exact same thing happened to me (phone was previously flashed to cricket but i was unaware until AFTER purchasing and trying to activate)
ODIN Flashing the OMBINATION_I535VRALG1_I535VZWALG1_743127_REV09_user_low_ship.tar.zip package then reprovisioning with the *2767*3855# worked like a charm, I was sweating for a while as the deal was from craigslist
So far as i can tell to do this you NEED to use the VRAL as I tried a few other (newer) stock files and this was the only one that worked
THANKS AGAIN!

Hi guys
So I have the 23rd december version of Cataclysm installed, ElementalX kernel latest and I also flashed the 5.0.1 nexus 5 radio. Everything was working smooth for a day or 2 (no problems at all, I love Cataclysm). When I was on the train yesterday my connection (2g, 3g, 4g, everything) fell away as usual on Belgian trains in some areas, but it didn't come back... Now I'm stuck with a nexus that only has wifi... Does anyone know what to do? I have never seen this before so I'm clueless
I have tried installing other radio's. With the KitKat one, it didn't even find my SIM-card(no PIN login whatsoever)(this is also not a SIM related issue because I tried other phones). When I flashed the one from 5.0.1 back, it was the same issue all over again. I tried using * # * # 4 6 3 6 # * # * but it says my radio is off, gprs service too. network type unknown...When I try to turn the radio on via the button in the menu, nothing happens...
I did a full wipe in TWRP, installed cataclysm and elementalX again and again:nothing...

It does register the SIM. When i put it in another phone, it works just fine
Yesterday, my IMEI and smallband were gone. I did a full restore to stock (root gone and locked). The IMEI and the smallband are back but the problem is not.
When I do the *#*#4636#*#*, it says the radio is off... I cannot push the button to turn it on, nothing happens.

If the SIM is fine and it doesn't work on stock, then its likely a hardware issue, so I'd just go with the RMA.
We had a few hours network outage due to security reasons. But my G3 didnt recover when the outage was over and is still stuck at "no Service" even after several reboots, clean flash of cloudy and restoration to stock using nandroid. It was working just fine a night before. I have tried restoring Stock from nandroid but still no luck. I have tried different SIM cards too but still no connectivity.
*#06# shows proper IMEI number.
Baseband was shown as Unknown, So I flashed one from xda threads for D850 V10D. Now my Baseband is known. But no luck.
Wifi works fine.
Bluetooth works fine.
Sim Toolkit works fine
SIM contacts are visible
AAT tests USIM1 Passes
I am back to Stock using TOT method.
I even had a bit of luck and caught some signals last night but they came and Whooosh gone again never to return.
It is to be known that I am in Pakistan and D850 is ATT US. Do I need to take care of any unlocking to make it work here that the shopkeeper may already have done before selling it to me ? Because it worked fine before.
Edit::
I checked for unlock code. my phone says "Phone is not personalized". So i guess I am not operator locked.
Previously I had posted this in "G3 troubleshooting" forum assuming it to be cloudy ROM related but I think its much more serious than that. So posting it here in D850 Forum.

Yes. they are correct.
Almost sounds like a carrier network issue. Did they change frequencies?
