no no no...dont do that. Just run the RUU that i gave you for 1.85. That will get you a working non rooted phone. Then you can follow the root instructions for 1.85 that are posted here, then you can use superCID to unlock the bootloader.
EDIT: Sent you a PM too

Honestly its really simple. Download the file in the link i gave you. Run it in windows. Let it install. Connect your phone and follow the on screen instructions. This wont brick your phone if you follow the directions given to you when you run the exe file.

Need Help - Will not get past boot screen.

Hey guys,
Just bought the HTC One X and I have no idea what to do. I know how to fastboot since I have been using the Galaxy Nexus, but I am not sure what to do with the phone right now. It boots in to the HTC logo, and then turns off and then keeps doing that. I can get into fastboot mode and use it but I have no idea what files to use. It was originally with Rogers I believe, and then it was unlocked. So if anyone can help me that would be great! I do not care about losing files or anything, I just want to fix this. Please can someone help
I am on a Mac, but if I need to be on a windows computer I will,
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!!!

ahh .. no clue boss... maybe some1 elc will help you out then. dont know why it boots

PC Instructions (since RUUs don't work on macs)
1. Get to your bootloader (hboot)
2. Select the FASTBOOT option, you should now be in the fastboot menu
3. Make sure you have HTC sync installed on your pc (for drivers and such...this should probably be step 1)
4. Plug your phone into your computer, FASTBOOT should turn into FASTBOOT USB once you have the drivers installed
5. Relock your bootloader if it is unlocked using the command 'fastboot oem lock'
6. Run the RUU
7. Go make yourself some coffee while you wait for it to complete (it takes like 10-15 minutes)
Did you get it fixed? If not try to take some help from niceppl and 18th.abn

So I actually got this fixed. Was never able to connect to the RUU through fastboot, but I found a post somewhere in this thread that worked flawlessly! I will try to find it and post it here to show people if they are having the same problem. Thanks for anyone here who replied and helped. Much appreciated

STUCK!!! - i've tried the steps but when phone boots into HBOOT it tries to read the PH06 zip file but its does not recognised the image and jump to bootloader and asked whether want to install the update or not... i can't get it to work.... im at a dead end....
There is no need to update HBOOT. Just skip that step and continue unlocking on htcdev site. That is what I did, and I beleive many others. I wrote this down several times, and this is the last one. It worked for me without issues, whatsoever.

ok - i am unsure which step you are talking about. Is it the first step where u have to use the RUU file from the htcdev site? before clicking to next step? i am stuck there , i dont know how to proceed....
so if skipping that step, i go into bootloader mode, choose fastboot ,and proceed with step 5 and so on?? is that rite???
Are u trying to unlock boot loader?
If yes just follow the simple steps on htcdev page
And if u r stuck some where please mention it clear lay where exactly u got stuck
And to root ur device get clockwirkmode for or device and flash supersu
Good luck

Sorry to bump this old thread, but if I go to the step, where I have to write in the cmd of my windows, htc chacha is not recognized by my computer. I have installed htc sync! So basically the commad "cd \Android" doesnt do anything for me and I am stuck
Done. Just had to do the commands, without the chacha being actually recognized...

HTC One X Bootloader Unlock

Can someone help me out? Im trying to unlock my bootloader on my one x and when I go to submit the unlock token on htcdev, it keeps failing and will never go through. Does anyone know a way around it? A different way of unlocking the bootloader? I would really appreciate it if I can get some help with this.

Its a real pain in the ass. What I did is cut and paste the key into a text editor. You have to remove leading spaces from the top make sure you include the lines that have the >>> on the top and the bottom. Make sure the numbers all line up it's a ***** to get right.
Thanks, I'll give it a shot and post back if it works.

Follow these instructions. Only works on 1.85
I know what you're talking about there. I made sure I right-clicked on the first < on the line to mark. THen, clicked where I marked exactly to select. Cntrl C, Cntrl V and it works. I know it's a PITA...took me a few tries before I got it.

Wait your on 2.20...... You can't root or unlock your bootloader because you need root to change your cid so that you can unlock your bootloader from HTC dev. There is no current exploit to root 2.20 unless you were already unlocked prior to the update. You re going to have to sit tight till someone comes up with a new exploit for 2.20.

Yeah, that's why I was wondering if anyone knew a way of downgrading. I posted this thread before I found out that you root before unlocking bootloader on this phone. I thought that just running a 1.85 RUU would downgrade it but that failed. So do you have a way of downgrading?
There's no way to downgrade either.

DId you use SuperCID? you should just try different ruu until one of them works. Did you try to get into recovery aka holding down the vol button when you power on?

Well if you didnt that means you can only use an ruu for the image you currently have or any ruu after after that. im not to familiar with rogers ruu version numbers but like i said equal or great. I would go into recovery and and go into fastboot and try the ruu then. that should do the trick and you still need to be relocked but you said you did that already so good luck!

Yeah I was just looking around and I noticed there but only one ruu. this is a link to the ruu ROGER RUU. its an exe so basically hold the vol down button while you turn the power on. you should have a screen that says "fastboot", recovery and so on. select fastboot and connect to your computer. when it finishes installing the drivers and the phone says fastboot usb in red then run the ruu.
actually its not an exe. sorry i need to look it up myself

yeah, that is not an exe file. it's a zip file that should replace the rom.zip when u do the ruu (according to the posts online).
that's what i did. the thing is that when i did the ruu thing, my phone version is greater then the one u can find online. so it's not working this way. or maybe im not doing it right.
this phone is killing me right now.
thank u.
no one seems to have a good solution to this???
i just solved it.
it's quiet simple actually.
for ppl who may have the same problem as i did , this is what u need to do :
flash recovery, then go in to recovery mode, wipe everything, except the external storage, then install a new rom
simple...
yea , first of all , unlock ur device.
thx/.
Should change the title of post from [Q] to [solved] so that people know your all set and others that may find the info useful.
