HTC Titan - Canada - General Questions and Answers

Hi all i'm new to all this, i've recently moved to Canada and my HTC Titan works over here but only on certain networks and sods law is that its the ones with the most expensive plans.
Places like Wind and Mobilicity say their networks don't work with my phone, which is all gobbledygoo to me. Does anyone know of anyway I can make my phone copatible with those networks, My phone is already unlocked but could I take my phone somewhere and have someone install something onto the phone to rectify the problem. Or is it my best bet to buy a new phone? I only bought my Titan 3 months ago, its a great phone and would be sad to part with it. I think part of the problem is that my phone isn't sold in Canada!
Any advice anyone has would be much appreciated,

Phones blocked in UK - Can they be used in USA?

Hello there....
I bought a second hand phone for my girlfriend, which appears to be blocked on all UK networks. I'm guessing it was an insurance scam or something like that.
Question is.... would this phone still work in the USA?
It's a Sony Ericsson K800i
Any help would be much apreciated because currently, i'm about £220 out of pocket. I know i was stupid to do this, but you know what it's like when they start pecking your head for something......
Thanks in advance.....
G
Should work in USA, as the IMEIs are only blocked on the UK networks.
Thanks for the response. Can anyone verify this for me 100% though? I rally don't want to cause anyone else the same problems i have.

Yes you definately can use the device in us as far you mentioned the devise imei is locked by uk service provider....so there should not be any problem usng it other place/other service provider then of those...i also used one set like then a years ago....
but the problem might not get solved if the device is sim locked....that means the device is ment to use with a single operator 4m whome it was been brought on a contract.... otherwise then of the sim locking things you should be fine...
Thanks

[Q] Newbie here; hoping someone can help.

I have a HTC Pro Touch phone that was my company phone for about two months before Verison took over Alltel in my area. My company switched to ATT iphones at that time. I have recently decided that maybe I could use this nice phone with ATT. Much to my disappointment I found through a little research that Alltel and ATT networks are not compatible and the phone and can't be unlocked for use with ATT.
Its seems that my only option now is to find someone with a nice phone that would like to trade hoping that they might be in the same situation in reverse. Have I missed something that can still make this phone work somehow? If not does anyone have a good idea, of how I could make a fair trade?
Thank you and I hope this post is ok for this section.

You could SIM unlock it, but it's not very cheap. There are some nice links in the Raph Wiki that points to SIM unlocking services.
@racing5k
You can try putting it up for sale onbay.com or amazon.com. If you want to avoid registering a selller account on any of those two site (which is free to do), you put a free listing on craigslist.com, always deal local and accept payments in cash and in person. Amazon and ebay will charge you seller/listing fees, there are no fees to list and sell on craigslist. You have a CDMA version of this phone. What you need is the GSM version, which for ATT was branded the HTC Fuze. I have the Fuze but am having a issue with it (battery indicator says it is fully charged at 34%) which I have yer to resolve.
@ZoneBlaze
sim unlock will not work, Alltel uses CDMA technology and ATT uses GSM. racing5k has a CDMA version of the phone, the two technologies are not compatible with each other.

[Q] My sensation wont recognize a specific simcard

First off, thank you for making a brilliant forum! Now that I dont get any further by searching for information I need som help from you guys.
Thing is: I have two sensations. Both are s-off, rooted, superCID and have the latest coindroid installed. Both are originally tmobile phones which were bought unlocked some while ago. They have both been used successfully in europe until now that im in the US.
For various reasons i have three simcards for these phones. And in one of them t-mobile doesnt seem to work at all. Neither before software modifications or after. The other phone with similar mods have no problems.
The other simcards are a norwegian one and another pay-as-you-go simcard which has been used since t-mobile doesnt work.
Since both phones are rooted and s-off I guess there is a setting somewhere. Where is this particular setting? Anybody that could come a newbie to the rescue?
Thanks!
no setting if phone dont ask for a unlock code or has been unlocked i am going to say bad/banned imi number call t-Mobile and ask them if your phone is black listed
The phone is blocked by tmobile it appears. Bought it off amazon nine months ago. The phone was sold as new and "unlocked" back then and w/o warranty, but not as stolen phone. Im angry right now.
Neither Tmobile or HTC are very helpful on the phone. Costumer service at Tmobile keeps failing to put me over to anyone who can help.
Any tips on how to proceed further? Showing up at one of their shops and stay there until someone is able to help?
Since the phone is without warranty its very tempting to do illegal stuff to it right now.

Only things you can do try att sim but may not work
resell on eBay for parts should get most of your money back or keep calling T-Mobile there the only ones who can if they will
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA

[Q] Moving Moto-X off of Republic Wireless?

Has anyone managed to get their Republic Wireless Moto-X on to Sprint or any of its MVNOs? It looks like ROMs are available, but I don't want to end up with a $300+ paperweight . Has anyone had successully moved their Moto-X to another service (registered MEID and actually gotten service)?
I have been on Republic for a couple of years, and have had to get another carrier because of the breaks in coverage (in Silicon Valley!). With the quality of the web-site and customer service, I'd like to at least salvage a good phone.
Thanks a lot for the help!

I doubt it.

Granted, the article is about the 2013 Moto X, and you're looking at the 2014 Moto X, but I expect the practice of carrier-locking the phone remains. I guess it's technically not carrier locking (which would be illegal), but since it appears that it uses a piece of band spectrum specifically allocated by Sprint for Republic, even if you did unlock the phone, hardware-wise, it's not compatible with any other network.
Makes sense, I guess. It wouldn't do them any good to undercut Sprint/Boost/Virgin/etc phone prices simply so people could buy them and unlock them to use with other providers, even if they do all use the same network.
This thread might help... there's a guy running CM on his phone. Might enable you to put another sim in it and just sprint? I don't know how it works w/ the different radio bands.

[Completed] T-Mobile Blocked my IMEI on used phone

Hi Im new here and needed some clarification regarding an issue with my IMEI on my T mobile Note 2. I bought it used back in June off of a facebook buy and sell group to fix it up and sell it. At the time I bought it, it had a clean IMEI, and the people who sold me the phone told me they were the original owners. a few weeks ago, I again checked the imei, and it was still clean.
Now Im about to sell the phone, but I check one more time and now its blacklisted on T mobile and Metro, but clean on ATT and Verizon according ti imeidata.net. I check tmobiles website and it says its been reported lost. Im going to try to contact the people who sold it to me, and if they wont help me, Ill be contacting Tmobile and Asurion. After doing some research about what else I can do, Ive came up with a few options, but I still need some advice.
1. Sell as is and cut my losses
2. Sell on ebay to someone outside of US
3. Sell for parts
If I sell it to someone outside the country, how do I know it will work wherever the buyer is? I have no intention if screwing anyone over and want to make sure they get what they pay for.
How can I protect myself from this happening in the future? Is there a way to get the IMEI numbers of future phones signed over to my name, even if Im not a customer of that phones carrier?
Also, if imeidata.net says its only blacklisted on Tmobile/metro, can it be used on other American networks?
I really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.
One more thing I forgot to mention...when I bought it, it was running android 4.1.2. I downgraded it to 4.1.1 to unlock it and its still running 4.1.1 incase the unlock procedure didnt work and I need to try again. Not sure if this is relevant to the imei issue but Im just putting it out there.
Hi,
If it's blocked, it's blocked. No one can help you with that legally. Sorry.
Whether it works in other carriers.... I would doubt it. Usually blacklists are across all carriers in North America.
And as far as protecting yourself in the future, you can't really. Buying a used phone is always going to be a gamble. Nothing you can do about that except try to buy from a reputable source or individual.
Good luck!
