While I was flashing a ROM (Synergy1.3), my wife decided to move my phone to another table. When i looked at it a few minutes later, the screen was blank. Now it wont turn on at all. I had used that particular ROM before without any problems. My battery was at 90% when i started to flash. I have a terrible feeling i am bricked. Any ideas?

yes, also tried charging it from wall charger ans USB. I get this error when plugging into USB (QHSUSB_DLOAD)
It's hard to brick a phone. Worst case, boot into download mode and Odin up the stock image.
If you can't access Download mode, you've most likely bricked as any research I've done points to it. If you've got insurance you can pay the premium, or send it to one of the JTAG services for repair (such as MobileTechVideos).
Just don't leave or touch the phone next time when you're flashing!
With my case it's hard to hit the buttons for recovery and download. I created across to get to them. Not what you're wanting to here. But here's a tip: if you can get adb to recognize your phone but can't use buttons to get into download mode you can "adb shell" and then "reboot download". That will cause the phone to boot download/Odin mode. Hopefully that will work and you can flash back to stock.

The phone will not power up in any way at all. I am in the 5th stage of the grieving process. Back to my Tbolt and hope Samsung honors the warranty.

If you cant get to download mode or get adb to recognize when properly set up you do probably have a brick. What's happening to you with the warning happened to my friend on Sprint while accidentally flashing a ROM for a different phone. What he had to do was send it in to MobileTechVideos and got it repaired for around 60$. Samsung/Verizon wont likely fix them under warranty.
My only question is if you indeed were flashing synergy, how did a system ROM brick a device. o_0 And hell even if it was another phones ROM wouldn't our locked bootloader deny overwriting?

I also accidentally flashed a rom for a different phone and am considering sending it to MobileTechVideos. Your friend had good success with them fixing his phone?

I think this might also work for you, if the battery charging icon comes on while your charging it then this might work. When you have it connected and the charging icon comes on put it in download mode(do not unplug it until your in download mode). Then use odin to flash it back to stock. It happen to me ones and when i did this it work for me, so i don't know if this will work for you. (Sorry for my grammar)

just curious what methode are you using to enter download mode? Did you try recovery for giggles?
i have tried both download mode and recovery and just trying to let it boot up normal and it will not do anything in all three just a black dead screen
Try leaving the battery in when you go to download mode. Also leave it in when flashing.
if it wont even power on in any way or go into the download mode you might be bricked...I did this before and I had to exchange it at Verizon..luckily since it wouldnt turn on they couldnt tell what I did to it...hope you can get your issue resolved

Hi
Sorry to hear about your issue. I am at half brick now. Been at multiple spots learning here but never completely no visability! 3/4, 7/8, right now in a flash it does not see my phone (no network) data side is fine but can not get or receive calls. It is not the SIM card (according to VZW). Data side works fine 4G etc, emails but no phone. A great PDA but not a phone. No one has answers but I belive to be a cp_modem.bin issue download hangs at around 98% in what does a boot 2nd boot on the screen in the download then says:
Wait, VIA Booting ..
VIA rest done. ..
Downloading to VIA...
To everyone the {Kangfuscius.tar} has helped me when I thought all hope was lost, even in a partial download it helped to bring me back.
Any suggestions on files for the phone tab in ODIN all I can think of is, it can't get worse. The FEDEX guy kow knows me by name between the Fascinate's and now I guess the Charge.
Any help appreciated,

I don't know why your phone is booting into 'VIA' mode and don't even know what that is so I couldn't say a fix other than odining the usual stock rom/pit combo (leaving the battery in when flashing in odin also and uncheck the 'auto reboot' option)... also phone tab/button is NOT supposed to be touched in odin, only PDA, PIT if needed, and Start
Where did it fail in the Odin flash? The only way you should be bricked is if it failed while flashing boot.bin or sbl.bin, otherwise, it should still go to download mode. Have you tried using one of the Force Download Mode jigs/dongles that the GSM models use to get into download mode?
i don't recall where it failed at but it will not not respond to anything with batt or without where can i find the gsm software i will give it a try before i call insurance a link or anything would be great
what gsm models are equivalent to the charge

SGS2 is not equivalent. Just search for galaxy s download jig and i'm sure you'll find what I'm talking about. It is the same thing for all the SGS phones, and some have said it works on the 4G versions of the phones as well.

Hi, I had the same thing happen to my first Charge. I could not boot my phone even to the samsung logo, so I searched around the Internet. Somehow I think it was the Captivate trick worked. I took out sim, battery, sdcard>plugged in usb to computer>held up and down volume together>put in battery; miraculously it went to download. I tried every other combination beforehand and none worked, so I know this method works.
Unfortunately this was before we had IMNUTS Pit file and a odin flash would not change anything so I could not recover and I flashed a Pit that was not for the Charge. Wrong answer! After that it was in the non-boot state again but the same method above would not work any longer. If your phone does not work with the method above, maybe something went wrong with the repartition and pit file. That is just a guess though!
well the jig hasn't worked yet i am running right at 300k tomorrow i am going to get a 1k and add that in also and see if that helps. also pulling all the cards and the battery didn't work either. this is not looking good i am up for any ideas that anyone has

Hey guys found a way to unbrick Samsung droid charge and revert back to stock.
1. Download and install Odin found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1085190 ) unzip and open
2.Download this file and unzip ( CI510_VZW_EE4_ALL_ONE-LTE-CP_REV03_user_CL1014954.tar.md5.7z) from here ( http://www.multiupload.com/6WJ2SFUKO6 ) or original thread where i found this file is from here ( http://androidflip.com/android-2-3-4...talling-guide/ )
3. set phone to download mode, do this by taking battery of phone, plug phone into computer and hold Volume down, a Yellow triangle with a working android will appear.
4. Click on odin you will see your phone come up under ID:COM, now do not click on anywhere but on PDA thats where you will have to find the file you downloaded on step 2 and make sure is the unzipped file. once u find it, click on open then start.
5. Be patient this can take up some time, once is done the box will turn green and say pass, at this time your phone will no longer have the Yellow triangle and you can unplug and place the battery back in and turn phone on.. once again be patient when turning phone on it will take a little while to complete.
i tried this and it does work, my Droid charge was bricked and now it works.
Thanks to xda-developers where i was able to find odin and also thanks to androidflip.com where i was able to find the Droid Charge stock rom to flash it back using odin.
Hope this helped everyone needing help.

Dustin, were you able to get it working? I'm in the same boat. Right after boot.bin it failed. Which was within seconds after hitting the start button in Odin. Verizon won't honor my warranty, because I didn't buy the phone from them.
Hard Brick Fixed
If you are truly hard bricked (no download mode, no power, no nothing), you can get it fixed for $40 at mobiletechvideos.com. I flashed a file that didn't work unless I took off the md5 extension. Big mistake. After trying absolutely everything, including surfing the internet for a day, spending almost $20 to get 2 day delivery for a USB Jig that did absolutely nothing, I sent my phone to mobiletechvideos.com. Josh brought it back from the dead; don't know how, but it was the best $40 I ever spent! I think there aren't any reviews because there haven't been enough newbies like me who just can't wait for Gingerbread and bricked their Samsung Charge. Putting my review there tonight...should be first one. The reviews from all the other phones he has unbricked convinced me to try and I'm glad I did.
Many people have hard bricked their phones trying to downgrade. Give the jig a shot, but don't hold out much hope.
Personally I think there is something being overlooked during the downgrade process... Too many people are hard-bricking during the process for it to be coincidence.
Oh yes

Doing so NOW! For the same issue. My PC decided to spontaneously reboot during ODIN while flashing a ROM on My Droid Charge. Josh was quick to respond to EVERY single annoying question I had about their service. So I am doing so. If it works, I'll tell you, I'm adding a link to their site in my signature on every forum I'm a member of, even forums I have for my daughter's schooling hahaha! They deserve the references just for being quick to respond. Thanks for the info man, props to you.
I flashed a Jellybean touchwiz rom for Verizon GS3, and went to reboot and now nothing, zero zip nada. No charging led light, no way to get into recovery and no response.
Anything I can do?
what happens when you do vol up + home+power button?
Absolutely nothing. I tried to get back into the recovery to see if I could restore my backup and nope.
did you try leave it pluged in for 30mins ?
does it vibrate once when you try to turn it on?
No vibrating and no sign of life at all. Even when plugged into my computer, I was going to try the unbrick guide but it listed that I should be able to get into the recovery still.

leave it plugged in for a while to make sure its not drained battery
do you have a usb jig?
I don't have a USB jig but this is possibly good news. I removed the battery and SD card and plugged it into my computer and it tried to install drivers (failed but tried) and the led light comes on red.
if your gettin led now you more then likely need to let it charge
It doesn't give me the led with the battery in
Plug it into a wall charger for at least 30 or even better if you can get a battery from someone.

red led means qualcomm download mode. sounds dead to me
Yeah, haha. I saw it and mentally prepared myself for it. Literally just got the phone today so Verizon had no qualms with just sending me a new phone. Guess I'm reactivating my Rezound in the meantime. Thanks for the help guys.
you know
I am surprised. That also happened to me the first time i flashed that very same rom (touchwiz) with twrp . I have done this so many times , i literarily can flash a rom on the way to work .
I was in shock , i still dont know how the heck can i flash a rom and brick .
I plugged mine into windows and i got the device manager driver error from hell . and my phone never came back up again
I stayed away form twrp and touchwiz and i still cant possibly comprehend how a simple rom flash can brick my phone .
Which ROM did you flash?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
you could probably send it to get Jtag'ed for around $60 if your warranty is invalid (ie used device)
You just hard bricked it. I did the same thing. Check here - post 5 shows the same symptoms :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770341
And here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791721
I was pushing a copy of root66 that I hadn't md5'd. Took a JTAG to bring me back (twice) .

So, in the future, md5 checksum absolutely everything since I'm assuming now that that is why this happened? (Since I made doubly sure I was flashing a rom for my phone).
If you still have the file you downloaded, you can check it. That would answer that question. If it checks out fine, then we have to look elsewhere for the problem.
BTW, MobileTechVideos.com can bring you back - based on my experience with them, I highly recommend.

What ROM did you flash?
Did you use ODIN or a recovery?
If recovery, which one - CWM or TWRP?
Was there any unusual condition you can think of ... low battery, USB connected to computer or to charger, etc?
I was running CM 10 and tried to flash the stock ROM. I flashed it fine (no errors in CWM, I also did clear the cache, dalvik, wiped system) after that I pressed reboot and nothing happened no Samsung just a black screen. I waited for around 10 minutes and then finally took out the battery. After that the phone wouldn't boot, recovery or download wouldn't work either. I tried everything I could and figured it's hard bricked. So if you have any suggestions on this they will be greatly appreciated. I still have my T-Mobile warranty, and the question I have is would they accept a phone that is rooted, but won't even boot so basically there is no way of finding out if it's rooted or not?

First error was you wiped system before reboot so there was nothing there to boot into... Leave the battery out for a bit then insert and boot into recovery.. reflash rom and this time only wipe cache and dalvik not system.. reboot.. Also how charged was the battery? maybe it is almost dead and needs charging!

Wait... you wiped system after flashing stock...? That wiped the stock rom That's why nothing booted after the reboot.
I don't know why you can't get into download mode... When you plug in a usb when the battery is out does the phone vibrate? If not, try another usb cable. If that fails then you do have a hardware issue. If the phone vibrates hold vol + and vol - and power and reinsert battery-you should get download mode.
AFAIK, they (T-Mo) put the phone in download mode and check the flash counter. If it says anything other than "no" they will not accept it. Any odin flash adds to the flash counter.

As said before it's a brick, no screen, no vibration nothing. And I don't think T-Mo can even get to the phone unless they jtag it or something, which they will most likely not do as it will cause discomfort and timeloss to the customers (ME)

Well I doubt they can do that at the store (I don't have any confidence in the salespeople's tech ability there lol), so if you are under warranty just tell them that when you unplugged it this morning it was like that
If it doesn't vibrate when plugged in and no battery installed then it sounds like a hard brick.
I think they do the manufacturer warranty as an exchange on the spot, so even if they do figure it out eventually you should be good.
But it would suck if they can get it into download mode at the store... better try numerous usb ports (even switch computers to be sure!) and cables to be sure Also wouldn't hurt to leave the battery out overnight and try again. If they get it in download mode... well two things. One they won't ever honor any warranty on the phone anymore (and they will give the phone back to you), but two... if they can get it in download mode have them leave it like that and rush back home - and then you're back in business
Kind of a win-win...

I got a replacement going from T-Mobile, they just sent out the new phone today, but I'm confused do I send them my broken one right now? or wait till the new one comes?
They should have explained everything on the phone, they will send you a box to return it in . And if they find out that it has been rooted and modded , you could be charged the full price for the phone. Every time I sent the phone back I've always read it back to stock if yours was bricked hopefully they won't notice

Help!
My power button recently started giving me problems. It acts like it is stuck down. Any time I shut down the phone or pull the battery it automatically turned back on when the battery is inserted.
I have to return it for a warranty replacement to verizon and tried to enter custom recovery to backup/wipe but when I do this it just gets stuck in a boot loop because of the power button. Luckily I entered the fastbook/odin recovery and it cleared the bootloop and let me boot back into the phone.
My question is, how am I going to wipe my phone to return it to verizon (i am rooted/unlcoked) if I cannot access any kind of recovery? I also do not want to return this phone with any of my personal data on it.
Someone please help!
What happens when you boot into Download mode? Does it stay in download mode? Cuz you could just Odin flash a stock tar that wipes /sdcard and you'll be good as new to return to Verizon.

Does mobile ODIN use its own recovery? I tried using TWRP Manager to do a backup, when it rebooted into recovery I got stuck in a boot loop. I am thinking if mobile odin somehow uses its own recovery or something that it might work. I will give it a try when i get home. Thanks.
I started having the same exact issue this weekend and am also currently waiting on a warranty replacement. However, I was able to get my phone to start working again after letting it set for a day, then apparently jamming the power button hard enough to make it work again. You might try that-- I know its not a very scientific or surefire way to make it work but who knows.
I'm also interested to see how many people have/have had/will have this problem.
blow into your power button. it might blow dust or wahtever is causing this to be moved out of the way.
Same thing has just happened to me. Also coincides with the camera not working at all. I took the phone apart, blew it down with compressed air and still a flaky power button with no camera. WTF is going on?

How did you get your warranty replacement? Did you just call and they did some troubleshooting them said they would mail one to you?
I called and they wanted me to do a factory reset which i was not ready to do, then later found out i cant do.
How are you going to factory reset the phone if the power button is broken?

I took my phone in to Verizon on Saturday, and had a sales rep look at it and he then filled out the form to send me a replacement. My actual reason for going was to see if they knew of a local cell phone repair shop because I figured they would give me a "Your phone is out of its one year warranty so we can't do anything" runaround, but they simply shipped me a new one.
I since had gotten lucky and had the power button return to a working state, and I Odin'd a stock tar file onto it... And about an hour later the power button has failed again and this time seems to be for good. So my phone is in a usable state until I get my refurb. Hopefully you can get it to work, I definitely wouldn't give up on trying to get into download mode, it seemed like it just decided to work once after repeatedly trying so you might get lucky. I wish I could be of more help but I feel your pain.
I am so sad as I write this...:crying:
I had TWRP custom recovery and running the ARHD 9.0 rom.
I was tempted to try the other roms so I played around with Omega and ReVolt rom..they worked fine...
Then, when I tried to reflash ARHD 9.0, I could get to TWRP recovery but it just reboots even before any of the buttons appear.
So, I went into download mode and flashed HighOnAndroid custom recovery.
It seem to work fine....so I went ahead and flashed ARHD 9.0....It installed fine and completed successfully.
But when I rebooted the device...sigh...no power, not even the charging animation when I plug it into the charger...
So, if anyone has a solution on what I should do, please do tell me or I am really sad...so so sad...:crying:
Try a different charger, cable and wall outlet. Leave the n8000 there for a while. Hold the power button for a while, then let it go. Listen closely to the speakers for the little samsung sound when it turns on. Idk if the rom you installed has a boot sound tho. Anyways, if you still dont have an answer after that.. I would maybe start to think the power button is dead. Its a last ditch option but plausible i suppose lol.
Beyond that, you might have to think about sell it for parts.
Oh and i remember from my time with the Samsung vibrant that sometimes, even if nothing comes up on the screen, the device might be picked up by Odin after doing the dl mode button combo

My Note is about 2 months old and is still under warranty period. As a last resort, I can send it to them.

As you have root and custom rom then warranty is void .
If Samsung cannot tell that you have root and custom rom is a different matter .

Have you tried plugging in to your pc, see if odin recognizes it? If so try flashing stock samsung rom.

I tried it....not detected...
It's very strange...no backlit or sound even when pressing power, power+vol up/vol down combos.
There was no error at all while flashing the ARHD 9.0.....and when I click on the finish and restart/reboot button at the end, boom..it shutdowns and dies on me...
I have googled it but no one has ever come across this kind of problem.
Since it is completely dead, there is a chance that sammy will not know it's rooted and running custom firmware.
Thanks to you and JJEgan for your concerns and suggestions.
As it sounds like a hardware issue, Samsung will likely fix it under warranty. At least that was my experience with Asus on my previous tablet.

Do you know.if your battery was almost dead when flashing that last. Rom? I've heard that can brick ur device if it dies in flashing process. (Even tho you said flash completed) but who knows?

I am not very sure about the exact battery percentage but yeah, it was low...somewhere about 10%~30%.
So, does that mean there is no way to revive it?

Unfortunately not without a new motherboard it seems like. If the is no sign of life, no recovery, no download mode and can't flash via oden or kies on computer with proper drivers installed. Then it sounds like a hard brick. Not recoverable unless new motherboard or JTAG. :/
Sorry man. But in future never flash if less than 30% battory. I've heard some pple say not below 50%
I don't know if your 10.1 died while flashing, but if so it could hard brick
50% is the suggested level of battery because flashing actually uses a large amount of battery. Also the tablets seem to power down things at 10%power.
Could be it shut off if the power dropped below 10%. This is why we suggest to not flash below 50%...

so sad....lesson learnt too late....the hard way :crying:
But I guess I have learnt one more way of hardbricking a device.
dude, seems like maybe a problem with your "main board"... i had the same issue at my galaxy tab 2, and i sent it to the shop ( because its passed warranty period already)...
