Xoom GSM Calls-RAZR Firmware Radio - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to flash the radio.img firmware of motorola Razr into the xoom? Both the Razr and the umts_everest xoom have the same radio chipset (The Qualcomm MDM6600, which SUPPORTS voice calls)
I really believe that the firmware motorola flashed into xoom disabled voice calls...
Any experts on the thread to express their opinions?
(Also galaxy tab did not support voice calls until someone on the xda forum created a modded firmware and flashed it. Now it can make GSM calls just fine, have a look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847273 )

Hmmm. Seems interesting to try it out... but I am not sure if this radio can even work on Xoom. Best people to answer are team eos themselves ...

Sounds awesome but, the only issue is, that Xooms were no intended to make/receive calls. Its wired with the MDM6600 modem which has no voice/multimedia capability. The only way would be to use a voice/data modem bridge/patch or addon to get voice. (With out using 3rd party apps like google voice or a Sip Account) The xoom can make/receive calls, just no voice transmission on the native side.

Yes xoom has the mic installed with no speaker simultanous intergration during calls. (Referring to making voice calls) you can dail out and receive calls, but you can't hear the caller and they can not hear you.

Well, that is precious info you are sharing man. I was thinking about a workaround then to use an extra piece of hardware than can act as a 2 way mic, like male to male jack connector with built in mic and speaker, one end connects to Xoom, the other end connects to let's say a capable device speaker with mic. What do you think? http://www.oriongadgets.com/Motorola-Xoom-3.5mm-Stereo-AUX-Cable-with-built-in-microphone.-pid-17915.html
Or, if there is an app that can spoof the gsm received/made call from / to Xoom and speaks it out and then the one way built in mic in Xoom can be used to listen to our voice and sends it back to app and so on to the other end. Google talk works with mic I think, so some kind of app that imitates how voice is received and sent over gem !!! Am I making sense?

i try videochat with skype over 3g... it work good.
so there is nothin wrong with hardware, the 'problem' is only software related, where the bit have to go

I can not understand how a one-way mic can make me unable to hear the other person on the line...
my phone works even with the mic disconnected!
That explanation is wrong and simply not enough for me!

Hi guys,
Finaly we are moving somewhere with these gsm calls!
Someone posted previoisly :
" iPhone 4 has the exact same radio like the motorola xoom 3g (The Qualcomm MDM6600)
Maybe the firmware motorola has flashed into the radio disabled voice call capabilities?
Samsung Galaxy tab does not support voice call but after installing a firmware mod (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=929479) it can now voice call over GSM "
And I believe too that developers can work around gsm calls somehow...they do better job than motorola itself with all the updates etc so fingers crossed!

tf300tg as phone?

Hey I've got a Question about my TF300TG.
I already recognized that it is possible to send and recieve SMS, and what is maybe interesting: I also called the number of the inserted SIM-Card, but while ringing on the phone from which i called, nothing happend on the tablet... but when i hang up the tablet opened the lockscreen ?!
Is it maybe possible, on an easy way, to extract the phone.apk and other necessary data from another ICS image?
Thanks for your help!

The only way I know of to make call from you tablet is to get a Google Voice number and install GrooVeIP (Paid app) from the Play store. I've don it and it works, but I still mostly use my cell phone with or without my Google voice number.
Using tablet as a phone
Hi, I just got my TF300TG yesterday and it is a beautiful beast. Although I've not rooted it yet, I tried to download some apps that might help on calls but only skype looked as downloadable. After MS takeover, Skype is getting worse on every update. I think there will be some nice apps that will allow us to make calls over the 3G/4G/WiFi networks. Also, some telco operators sell subscriptions with only SMS and 3G/4G. Have you tried to make a call with your SIM card that you used on your TF300?

with handsfree you can call without problem? I tried yesterday but it did not work the same...
Ok, calling with the SIM-Card i'm using for my tablet works fine with my mobilephone...
Using another ROM isn't the solution im looking for because of I dont want to unlock the bootloader... rooting is no problem.
Making calls by using 3g of Wifi is also no problem but what I want is to use the connections like my mobilephone.
So may there be any possibility of implementig these functionalitys without unlocking the bootloader?
Hope you understand what I'm writing here

Q1: like I posted on the first page, if you have a Google number you can make calls using GroveIP app.
Q2: No, would be cool though.
Yes.
Get a dirt cheap did for 2.95 month from callcentric. Then, install csipsimple free app. Then, install googlevoice. Configure google voice to ring back the callcentric number. Bingo, tablet phone. Cheap. This is a US / WiFi solution, and i use a 4g hotspot to tether, plus bt headphones.
I use Google Voice and GrooveIP on mine. I've got the paid version so I just tether my TF300Tto my phone and GrooveIP makes calls over 3G or Wi-Fi.

Anyone use tablet as a phone???

Hi all,
Is anyone use this tablet as a phone. I have installed VOIP and able to dial out but only able to talk to the other person using the build-in microphone, which is not too good (echos and not good with a noisy environment) and was unable to use bluetooth. I just wonder maybe the tf700 only likes certain bluebooth type. If anyone able to use bluetooth to talk please let me know the model number. Thanks
i use it sometimes to make calls. get a wired headset, download an app called Grooveip, and start using google voice. free calling. also download the google voice app to text. this only works for us and Canada numbers. the one con i found is that there is no picture mail option, but its not that big of a deal

+1. Thank you for quick respond, yes, I use Grooveip too, I have tried wired game head set and it's working fine, but just wonder if you have try with bluetooth headset, it just a lot more convience...you know ...no wire! I tried one made by Samsung, the device detected it no problem but no sound either from the caller or they can't hear me.
I also use GrooveIP and use Arctic Sound P311 Bluetooth headset with it. Works good.

Wow, great news then. Thanks bro! I'm going to get one.
Edit: I just check out the Arctic Sound P311, it seems like not design for phone call, no microphone, just for listening to music?? I'm looking for the bluetooth one that clips to your ear for cell phone.

OK, Thank you.
I've been using tablet talk. I use it mostly for texting, but I believe I saw the option to call added recently.
I'll try that option and I'll let you know what the quality was like (if you're interested that is)
Of course this makes use of your cellphone, so it's not a VoIP solution.

[Q] Any way to pair bluetooth phone to tablet to answre calls?

I decided to just keep my simcard on my tab and was wondering if there was any way we can pair our bluetooth phone to the tab to answer calls? I've been just using the speakerphone for now.
Would be nice if we could use a bluetooth phone to answer calls from the tablet.
The only option we have so far is either a bluetooth handsfree device or a pocket talker ( Samsung HM5000 Pen Type Bluetooth 3.0 Headset).
Are you asking about Bluetooth earphones or a Bluetooth - enabled cordless phone? Certainly the earphones will work. If it's a phone you're asking about, and I guess it will depend on whether that phone has unusual requirements.

[Q] very quiet voice only in calls

Hello,
I have a strange problem with my rooted Haier W910 Smartphone (Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8260A CPU with ICS 4.0.4).
In all calls, the microphone is very low and everyone hear me very quiet.
But in all other apps, like voice recorder or google speech recognition, the mic works fine and perfect.
I hold the phone properly and also I don't touch the mic with my fingers in the call.
I can't edit something in the phone options and I don't know / can't find the right secret code for service or engineering mode
Who can help me, please?
Best regards and sorry for my terrible english

Anyone found a solution to this? I have exactly the same problem. Just done a static test when I call out using the Haier the voice levels are very quiet. But accepting a call in the voice levels are just fine.
Has to be software related??

It seems that the problem is very apparent when using handsfree, because the other party experiences huuge quality loss when the phone is switched to handsfree (switching to the loudspeaker and talking from say 50 cm away) I have however heared ppl tell me that my voice comes through worse then before anyway. Same for cellular and ip calls incl wifi

Question about answering call from the watch

I saw it on the video that when you get a phone call, the watch vibrates and have a green tab on the left to let you slide and take the call and a red tab on the right that let you reject call. But on my s2 classic , when I get the phone calls, I just see the reject call tab but not the answering tab, I know I can only speak on the phone but can I answer the phone on the watch speak on the phone?
Sorry for bad english
Yes you should be able to Reject and Answer calls directly through the watch. I have Accept in green on the left and Reject in red on the right side of my sport edition. Do you have it pair to a Samsung phone or other, not that that should make any difference.

Mine is paired with a Samsung Edge+. I can answer phones just fine.
The green answer slider ONLY works on Samsung phones. I have a Nexus 5, and I definitely don't have the green slider. I'd like it cause my android wear watch has it, but it doesn't really do much, since you can't talk into the watch since there is no speaker to hear the other person. So, nice, but not terribly useful.
it might be different on the 4G watches that just hit, since you can talk and hear right from the watch..

I have an S2 4G on T-Mobile and it works fine with my Samsung Note 5. The 4G version should work fine with other android phones, that is what they are advertising. We will hear from lots of 4G owner very soon as the T-Mobile versions are up and running now.
I did not realize you don't get the green slider on the BT S2 when you are not using a Samsung phone.
Gotta chime in
I have been struggling with this for days now. On Nexus 6 with lollipop and Nexus 6P with gear s2 Verizon version, you cannot answer or make a call on your phone. the audio and mic will default to the watch as if it is a BT headset. this is very annoying. With all my other gears I have not had this problem. To answer the original question of the thread: go to BT on your phone and check phone audio on the BT settings for the gear s2. then you can receive and make calls. But, for my issue, Verizon does not know what's going on and sent me a new phone which does the same thing, then blames Samsung, who then blames Google's M, who then blames Huawei, who then blames Verizon. I have been instructed, now, to call higher level support with Samsung... Will give an update!

Go to your phone's BT settings; select the settings of your gear s2 and check the phone audio box.
nexus 6, rooted, with a custom rom, on T Mobile, zero issues making or receiving calls from the watch, either in Bluetooth mode or stand alone mode.
I also successfully paired my Moto Bt headset to the watch, so I can make and receive calls from the watch, with my bluetooth headset on!!
so far, everything works exactly as I hoped!

Not true, at least with the 4G models. It's worked just fine on my HTC M8 and my HTC 10. Very recently it stopped working (long after this thread was created), and I haven't done any major updates to my watch or ROM. So it must be something else, at least for some of us.
