Well my phone dropped off my chair and broke the glass... Sucks...
Should I order the screen with the lcd or just the screen and digitizer??? Anyone replaced the screen yet??? I've done iphones and itouchs... Not a android yet...
TIA

In another thread somewhere here on XDA, someone covered this. Pretty sure he said to get both because separating the old and rejoining the new perfectly was near impossible. Search for the post to confirm.

I actually just replaced both of them, just finished.
Turned it on and this is the screen I get:

Kinda rainbow noise. Did I break a ribbon or connector, or did I simply put it together wrong?
Any advice would be appreciated. Made a good faith effort as searching for previous threads with this specific problem and didnt see anything.

I fix phones for a side job.. it looks like the screen you got either arrived DOA with a damaged ribbon cable, or you damaged it or the connections inside when installing. Unfortunately, most places don't accept returns on equipment that has been installed and taken off.

He didn't know that throwing an item made of plastic and glass would shatter and break? Maybe he needs to invest in a Jitterbug.
Very nice breakdown pics bulletproof, I realize this thread is a few months old but I was just wondering if you might be able to tell me how to go about replacing the circuit board with the capacitive buttons on it? Can it be done without removing the glass? Didn't mean to hijack..
Its fine. Yes you can. But there are some other MORE detailed than my thread instructions. I suggest looking for one of those. Sorry i dont have a link . Im at work.its pretty easy to disassemble.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Yeah, I have it disassembled down to the metal frame, but have not been able to figure out how to get the plastic on the bottom off. The piece under the one that has the heavy metal traces/circuits on it that is.

Therr are 4 tabs on either side. The top and bottom are the hardest. Be really careful cause u will be prying next to the screen.

Okay I couldn't find a video or picture tutorial for removing the screen.. I guess the glass does have to come off
to replace the part I need to replace (see picture) that board on mine is severely corroded.
i decided to buy the droid x car dock and do some modifications to make it fit the g2 better, still a wip though
first thing was to remove the lip, and switch the usb plug around
then, i got a metal plate, and cut and brushed it
in hindsight, i think i should've took the left inner edge and made it closer to the phone body... maybe later. I still need to cut the top metal piece to fit to the phone as well
(sadly, no picture of the phone in the case yet... my phone is my camera for the moment)
for some reason, i cant embed the images, so just links for now
comments, questions, suggestions?
Looks nice! Would like to see finished product with phone in place.
is it difficult to change the carkit to fit to the desire z?
Any updates/progress?
I got another peice of metal to cut down, but I am in the process of looking for a new apartment so sadly all my projects have been put on hold for nopw, I hope to pick it back up on sunday

by design no, without the metal plate on top yes you could still slide the keyboard up. but I figured it would be a deterrent for me to text and drive... lol

Now its annoying me as well, i have another sensation and when i place the new cover the creaking stops, but i have a skin protector on this one so im reluctant to change it !.... oh I had this phone 2 days! lol
I phoned Vodafone about this, and they are aware of the problem. They told me to pop to a store, and they would change the back housing
Question is how long will it been till that starts creaking!!?? Fml lol

When you are referring to the back housing are you referring to the cover or parts on the phone itself?

I'm refering to the back cover mate around near the search key. The creaking is affecting the right side of the phone all the way to the middle of the screen.. its really annoying

Here's a quick and easy fix: Buy this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and get a cotton swab. Soak the tip in the dry lube. Then rub the tip where I've shown in this picture:
Phone feels brand new.
Can this be claimed under warranty? The creaking is caused by the cover having a bit of a gap (<1mm) at the bottom, right under the serach button.
So there I was, sitting around angry at my phone for the whole back cover issue, staring at my phone I noticed a piece of the bezel "chipped off." I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like this or not, but I took a trip to Best Buy and didn't see it on the display model.
Anyone else have this hole?

It is normal I have it on mine and the other sensations I have seen. I think it is a sensor of some sorts.
It's one of the sensors. we got 3 sensation in the family and they have it.

no dust can pass through the proximity sensor. but the front camera though has some potential. lol
Hello guys
I am wondering if you could find a way to repair scratches on One S
just 2 wwek and I have many (I am already using a wallet type case)
U must have the one that chips is the paint flaking of ?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
exactly ... and that ones comes from nowhere I am really gentle to the phone,
so I decided no way to avoid scratches with default material , but may be there is a way to repair it ,cothing or something:...
I would stick a thin TPU case on it. I'm pretty sure there really isn't a way to repair those chips/scratches.

sorry for resurrecting this old post, but I bought a second hand One S today (7 months old) and it's in absolute mint condition, except for the coating on top of the device. If I trade in my One S, is there a big chance I get a S3 version instead of my S4? Are there still a lot of S3 versions produced?
