[PROJECT]Car dock - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

i decided to buy the droid x car dock and do some modifications to make it fit the g2 better, still a wip though
first thing was to remove the lip, and switch the usb plug around
then, i got a metal plate, and cut and brushed it
in hindsight, i think i should've took the left inner edge and made it closer to the phone body... maybe later. I still need to cut the top metal piece to fit to the phone as well
(sadly, no picture of the phone in the case yet... my phone is my camera for the moment)
for some reason, i cant embed the images, so just links for now
comments, questions, suggestions?

Looks nice! Would like to see finished product with phone in place.

is it difficult to change the carkit to fit to the desire z?

Any updates/progress?

I got another peice of metal to cut down, but I am in the process of looking for a new apartment so sadly all my projects have been put on hold for nopw, I hope to pick it back up on sunday

by design no, without the metal plate on top yes you could still slide the keyboard up. but I figured it would be a deterrent for me to text and drive... lol

Nice...looks really good. Ill probably do this really soon.

He didn't know that throwing an item made of plastic and glass would shatter and break? Maybe he needs to invest in a Jitterbug.
Very nice breakdown pics bulletproof, I realize this thread is a few months old but I was just wondering if you might be able to tell me how to go about replacing the circuit board with the capacitive buttons on it? Can it be done without removing the glass? Didn't mean to hijack..
Its fine. Yes you can. But there are some other MORE detailed than my thread instructions. I suggest looking for one of those. Sorry i dont have a link . Im at work.its pretty easy to disassemble.

Yeah, I have it disassembled down to the metal frame, but have not been able to figure out how to get the plastic on the bottom off. The piece under the one that has the heavy metal traces/circuits on it that is.

Therr are 4 tabs on either side. The top and bottom are the hardest. Be really careful cause u will be prying next to the screen.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Okay I couldn't find a video or picture tutorial for removing the screen.. I guess the glass does have to come off
to replace the part I need to replace (see picture) that board on mine is severely corroded.

Vodafone Sensation RED colour released on 21 May.

Found out today there is a Red version in addition to the Silver version via customer services.

Any pics? Links? It's hard to opine without seeing it as there are tons of shades they could use.
Red one is the Desire S, seen a picture elsewhere but can't find it at the mo

No doubt ebay will have cases of all colours before long. After painting my soupped up Zonda Lime Green Metallic in GT5 and looking mint, I reckon pimping the Sensation will be fun.

It should also be easier. As the case is the entire body except for the screen one could theoretically just spraypaint it and be done with it (just make sure you cover up the mic holes before doing so and obviously that the cover is off.)
I suppose it wouldnt be difficult to take the unibody and have it anodised . . .
Great oogly moogly . . . what an idea, I just thought about that for a moment. Think I know what I will do when i get mine.
Could anodise the metal bit to gold or silver I guess.

Don't like those colours. The original is much nicer

Looks like the ROM is set to some Asian language. Too blurry to tell for sure.
This is odd...
Probably a pre-production unit.
I know exactly what this is.....its our infuse with the removable and washable screen protector sold at all at&t stores. Look by the at&t logo up on top...it has a slight "v" shape around it and a square shape around the buttons on the bottom.
Also, its in English.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
i don't see any anti reflective surface, or squares, or v. I font think that's it. plus the firmware version is not the release version, though ot seems to have been built in the same month.
our firmware is uckd5 or ucke3, the op says this is uckd1
Never said anti reflective. Its the one I have. Its just as shiny as the one in the picture.
The OP says what the firmware is...but doesn't show a pic of it...

REPLICA?
hope chinese people have not started making replica of infuse.
my best guess is that this is probably a pre production test unit. d1 is earlier than our official release of d5

[Q] Custom paint job on Evo 4g

I'm going to be custom painting my Evo 4g,, has anybody done something similar to this with any other phone?? Advice on paint or method anything is helpful..
Thanks
I install vynal graphics i will probably use some leftover, can always rip it off.
Yeah that would work but I wanted to do like a full on red Evo,, vynls are kinda like stickers
Try a vinyl dye from an auto parts store. Very light coats. Wipe w alcohol first to clean any oils off. 3 decent coats and it should be good. There is also a liquid dip process that is used on guns that is amazing. Holds up to everything. Does not rub off
Yeah sounds like something to look into,, i currently have to projects my evo, lg thrull cracked screen, and nexus s cracked screen.

lol! When you take it off, be very careful in using chemicals as it might discolor your plastic trim!
Since you wanna ruin your phone with that electrical tape!! Why not just sell it to one of the devs here I'm pretty sure they'll make proper use of the phone:good:Idiot....
The best thing is that... If you drop your phone, that will do nothing.
Haha.. Took the tape off, no residue
This is just what I need!! Thank you a lot!
