I had that problem because my data kept freezing
Fixed it by updating to the latest radio firmware from the 4.0.4 update
You do need to be rooted unfortunately and have a recovery, but once you install it you can unroot and return to stock, although your bootloader will still say "relocked"
If you want to do this, the bottom of this thread has the .zip you can flash in recovery once you get that installed

nop not when im in the app, just when in standby.
ive tried the static ip fix and seems to be working with wifi for now, not sure what happens when i change wifi or switch to mobile network...
dunno if its related issue, but fb doesnt show noticifcations??

If you set a static ip it will only be for your wifi connection, wlan0 or such. It won't interfere with mobile data connection, but chances are it won't work on most other wifi networks. Might work if they use the same subnet, netmask, gw, and "your" adress is available.

Do lots of people have this issue with this phone? It was a very common bug on the AT&T one x.

Cyanogenmod - Connection issues

Hello,
first of all, sorry for my english (from germany)
it seems that i have some network issues, with my htc one s.
when i'm using facebook, whatsapp etc. it seems to work and everything is fine..
but then it hangs or losts connection and i cant do write or recieve any messages.
the only workaround is to set to flight mode or even reboot the phone.
it does not matter what version of cyanogenmod i'm using.
it seems that the problem fixxes itself by taking time. Example
Sometimes i get 20 messages after 10 minutes by several persons without doing anything. ^^
problems exist with v.10 stable or the latest nightly.
maybe someone can help?
Thanks
Do you mean email messages or txt messages?
Have you checked if data connection is alive when screen is off?
Maybe using default CM10 radio? Have you tried installing EU versio 1.11?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1998270
Only txt messages
Data connection is alive, will try this radio eu.1.11 version, whatever this is.
Thanks

tried with radio "patch". still same issue.
Did you tried the general workarounds for issues with cm10? (wipe everything, reflash etc.)
is your SIM-card correctly inserted and not damaged?

wired issues!

I have couple of wired issues with my Samsung Galaxy S 3
SMS Notifications:
Sometimes, not always, only sometimes, I get an SMS but no notification is given. No statusbar notification and no sound/viberate notifications.
Nothing at all.
When open my SMS app, I can then see there is one unread message.
I even have reminder of unread messages which it remindes me of unread messages every 10mins., not even this notify me of these messages.
Does anyone have this issue?
Bluetooth headset:
Sometimes, when I start talking using my Jabra headset, all of sudden, there no more sound on it, then I need to press the button on the phone saying headset to switch back to phone and again press headset to switch again to headset, then it works.
Sometimes I have to switch between phone and headset once to get it to work, others, It happens every minute in a conversation so I need to switch between phone and headset everytime.
Anybody have such issues?
A bit more information about your setup would help us help you. Are you stock or running a ROM? How long has the text message thing been going on?
I bet the messaging problem is a network issue. It will probably go away in a day or less.
BTW wired means something uses a cable, opposite of wireless. Weird is synonymous with strange or bizarre.

I contacted my network and they could see that the phone failed to retrieve few messages, so they could see that the problem is with my phone.

I guess i should.
But it is not rooted.
I am suspecting browsertexting app that does something. So I have now removed it and trying again.
But that for the SMS, not bluetooth problem.

[Q] Delayed push notifications - anyone else having this issue?

I previously had a Samsung Galaxy S3 that ran Android 4.1.2. Push notifications would come through pretty much instantly.
Now that I have my Nexus 5, I'm noticing that push notificiations are delayed. For example, I might receive an email on my PC saying that someone has posted on my Facebook timeline, but a notification doesn't pop up on my phone for 10-15 minutes later. Sometimes I get no notifications for a while because they're delayed, then the notification sound on my phone will go off 3 or 4 times in a row as a bunch of notifications from different apps have all arrived at once.
Also, sometimes I got no notification at all. For instance, I sold an item on eBay and usually I would get a notification that it has sold. On this particular occasion, no notification appeared. The same has happened with Facebook. Sometimes I will go to Facebook and find that a friend has written on my timeline, yet I didn't receive a notification about it on the phone.
I Googled this issue and found it was a problem that plagued the Nexus 4, so I'm wondering if it also affects the Nexus 5 too. Does anyone else have this issue with the Nexus 5? Is there any fix for it?
I get this too, but not very often. Most of the time I find my phone gets notifications before my PC or other phone does. But there are occasions, particularly when I'm not on WiFi, when I either get delayed notifications, or I won't get them at all, until I reconnect to WiFi.
It's been happening to me, including when I was running totally stock w/ locked bootloader. I'm on Sprint. Not sure if it's a data issue or phone issue.
Turning off wifi optimization solved my delayed corporate email (outlook) notification.
Thanks for the replies.
I'm having this issue while connected to Wi-Fi, although I haven't tested to see if the issue occurs via my mobile network as well. I have tried 2 factory resets, but that didn't fix it.
It's almost like, when the screen is off and the phone sleeps, it loses the ability to receive push notifications, but then after a while it suddenly regains it and that causes a bunch of notifications to arrive at once.
I've contacted Google support about it, so I'll see what they say.

Any update on this? What did they say? I have the same problem and it's driving me crazy.. I came from GS3 and notifications were instantaneous... on this one I have to open lets say Whatsapp every other minute to check if someone sent me a message... and even sometimes I open the app and it takes some time for the internet to "wake up" and finally refresh the app... it sucks... I would return my phone if this can't be fixed easily..
So any update or solution on this would be gratly appreciated. Thanks

Google ended up offering me a replacement phone, but that didn't go too well. The new phone they sent wouldn't connect to my Wi-Fi network, so I contacted them to return it but they told me I had to return my original phone, get another replacement, and only then could I return the second one. Obviously, each time they sent out a phone they were putting holds on my credit card for £xxx so in the end I phoned up and complained. To cut a long story short, I still have the original phone and I haven't decided what to do yet.

Interesting, I have just turned this off on mine too to see.
I only get delays when I am connected to my home wifi (2.4 or 5GHz). Maybe it is because I only have a 4mb ADSL connection ...
I will check tonight if that fixes it and/or also try the PNF app.
any update or fix on this yet? this is driving me mad, every time I get a notification on twitter or my email my idol picks it up first and my phone gets it 8-9 minutes later even if I'm using it at that moment, anybody else get the delay even while using the device?
All of a sudden I have started facing this problem since the past few days

I am using Moto g and I think its an issue with KitKat rather than with the hardware or the network. My push notifications are being delayed and that wasnt the case with JB 4.2 on my earlier phones.
Very frustrating
I've not been getting google hangouts messages until 20-30 mins later. sometimes i never get a notification, but if i check hangouts i see a new message. Another times i only get the message on the computer, but never on the phone. if i go and clear the app data new messages show up
My push notifications were coming through very quickly up until 2 weeks ago. I have not changed devices, carriers, or installed any new apps. One day they were coming through fine, now they are delayed by up to 30 minutes. My phone has not installed any OS updates either.
I have factory reset my phone, once restoring from cloud, the other not restoring at all and setting up the phone from scratch. This is really irritating. It does it on mobile networks or wifi.
Moto G is frustrating
It's frustrating.
I searched google without obtaining a solution. Moto G and sometimes I get delayed notifications and not others.
Facebook does not even make the notifications. In Whatsapp I have to open it every 2 minutes to see if someone has written. What not to do. I'm bored with this phone.
No solution or google and motorola solve it. Cursed kitkat!
Anything new? This problem is old and comes from the Nexus 4. I really am very sad about it, not PNF solving this.
I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. It definitely started after i upgraded my s2 to kitkat rom back in december. At first i thought it had to do with the PM sleep modes but none of them make a bit of difference. Ive goggled it to death and this thread is the only one ive found.
Currently im going to try the suggestion on the first page to turn off wifi optimization as my phone only does this on wifi. when i use mobile data everything works as expected
EDIT: WIFI optimization makes no difference
Push Notifications
I have faced this problem on both my S4 and S5 on sprint. I think it has to do with sprint closing open tcp connections prematurely, which causes push notifications to fail.
Running the app Root-Push Notifications Fixer, or Unrooted version has worked for me. The root version seems to be more reliable.

[Q] Problems receiving calls and sms on CM12 nightly

Hey guys,
So I'm experiencing issues receiving calls and SMS on my OPO ever since I flashed a CM12 nightly in early February. I don't know for sure that CM12 is the issue because I can't find anyone that has a similar problem, but since the problem didn't start until after the initial clean install of CM12, I'd say this is a good place to start.
I'm currently running CM 12-20150223-NIGHTLY-bacon and have not changed anything else (kernal, xposed, etc...). I use AT&T and am located in the US.
SMS Problem: First off, I use Hangouts as my SMS application. Sometimes I will go hours without receiving any text messages, only to have a dozen of them all come flooding in at once. Usually this is prompted by me sending myself an SMS. I also occasionally have trouble downloading group MMS.
Call Problem: About 80% of the time, calls do not come through to me. My wife tells me the phone rings twice and then goes to voicemail. I do not receive any notifications of missed calls but if the caller leaves a voice mail, then I do get notified of that most of the time.
Does anyone know if this is strictly a CM12 nightly issue, or is something else going on? If the answer is just a full wipe and clean install of another ROM I'm ok with that, just wanted to get opinions from the community before I proceed.
Thanks in advance!
I am having the same issue with SMS. I am running the 20150225 nightly.
Bump.
Still having this problem. Is the only way to fix it to go back to KitKat?
You have described my exact problem to a T. Any updates on this issue? I am thinking about going back to CM11. Every nightly I update in hopes that it resolves this issue but it hasn't yet.

Have you come across any fix yet?
Yesterday there were several updates related to mms..if you still use cm12...then install cynadelta app select last bacon zip. Then click on refresh, it will check the latest bacon file and update only incremental data..means you dont have to download entire rom. Saves your time and data package.
Once you see all the components are working.. Take backup using twrp and keep it in USB.. Incase you need to restore.

Hi! I har the same problem after updating to cm12. I solved it by go to settings/ mobile network/ preffered network and chose 3g. That worked for me. Much longer batterylife too.
Setting connection to 3g is not a solution, but a workaround. For those of use who actually use LTE/4G, that's not really an option.
I have this same issue, but I'm using Carbon ROM. So it would appear it is a CM-based issue that has carried over.
Edit: I was just in contact with my carrier Tele2, and this is a known issue with 4G/LTE systems. If you have this issue, contact your carrier, and they can likely help you sort it out.

Issue with mobile data connection

Dear all,
I own a OP6 always updated through OTA. But I have a big problem: often, and without noticing it, the data connection is interrupted and the only way to reactivate it is turn off the connection from the menu, wait a minute, and reactivate the connection. It happens several times a day.
As you can imagine, it is a big problem because someone sends me emails or messages that I do not receive until I do the steps above. And I don't know when I'm connected and when I am not because everything seems okay.
Can you help me?
Thanks in advance.

Just out of curiosity, did you try downloading the latest full rom and flashing it? I was always having issues with severe battery drain if I updated by OTA. Downloading the rom from OP website and flashing fixed the issue. Could be something similar for you.
Be sure to do a backup first incase of any problems.

Not similar but this the only case. I learned it through 4 devices OTA updates always mess up something. Always do full clean install, i know it sucks to settup the phone again install backups.. etc.. but it gor good
I think i have the same problem but after every reboot. I get 4G icon, but there is no connectivity on chrome and other apps (although Spotify seems to work). Only after switching to 3G and back to 4G the data works...
I had the same problem on my OP3 in OOS, but not in Resurrection Remix... really weird. I may try Havoc OS to see.
No problems with mobile data here, but dame issues when on wifi. I did a factory reset yesterday and clean install, but sadly that didn't help.
I've just updated to OxygenOS 5.1.11 and the issue is still with me. How is it possible? It's a really annoying bug. Developers, where are you when we need you most?

Does anyone know what the best apn and network settings are for an unlocked Moto g5 plus on metro by TMobile
When I use OP6 on mobile data, cant use google or associated programs... Used a VPN program and problem is solved.
Updated: deleted all APN and insert manually APN for my network. Works just fine...for now.
