I know we still don't have support for the custom led colors yet for notifications, but I always wondered if there would be a way to change the colors of the settings and back button that shine through. I think it would look cool if that was possible, I just don't know if that's even possible. Can some one fill me in if this is possible and if it isn't what are the limitations involved.

Those are straight white LEDs so you wouldn't be able to change them, minus opening the device and manually soldering new ones in.

Oh okay. That's what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. It would be cool to have the colors changed if you wanted. But oh well. Thanks for the info and thanks for you're development..I greatly appreciate it.

No problem! I myself wish they could be changed, would be pretty badass. Better than my rezound, with the pastel pink capacitive buttons tho!

Hey!! <3
I recently lost my Vibrant in chicago, being drunk in a taxi. So I recently picked up a Nexus S. I'm coming from a Vibrant with TeamWhiskey's Bionix and some kernels like Overclock, DoW, etc...
I figured the best route to take on the Nexus S is CM7 right now, so i'm wondering if people are using any overclock kernels with CM7? Anything stable?
I got some reading to do, but thank you for the quick response
Netarchy and morfic both have oc kernels out right now. Morfics is called honity and has a 1.2ghz version and a 1.4 ghz version. Netarchy is oc up to 1.4 I believe. Both have voodoo color and sound built in. Honity has backlight notification as well. Netarchy will include bln when neldar officially releases it. These are the most popular. Netarchy is the most stable IMO bc I can't get honity to boot on cm7 build 28 lol. Hope this helps.

+1 for Netarchy's kernels. He releases updates in a timely fashion and they're well done.
Neither kernels should disappoint you though, try both and see which one fits you.
And welcome to the Nexus S forum.
Thanks guys, <3!!

Just curious about what ROMS and kernels people have liked best so far.

Right now I am devoted to using the Das_BAMF series of ROMs as well as the kernel by Adrynalyne. I find it works very well for what I need.
I like debloated stock personally, using my own kernel.

me too. staying with this until CM7 comes out.
I'll definitely be switching to cyanogenmod when it is complete, much prefer it to anything else.
Das_BAMF, perfect for me so far.
Das BAMF as well with the 1.76ghz kernel. It's a beast.
boLTEd 0.3. Drods 1.8 kernel running like a champ.

Virusrom, testing out several kernals using adrynalyne 2.0 ATM. Liking it. Better battery life than running OC'd all the time. Bolts still quick at 768mhz. Mo Batry!
Tbolt - VirusRom_rc1b2-drod1.8ghz
Das bamf with the newest kernel 1228 on CPU perfect light OC.
Tbolt seems even more snappy, battery seems to be better also with smartass CPU setting.
My first Android my first ROM and kernel and I could not be happier.
Ive been rocking Virus Rom also for like a week. Extremely solid rom with Adrenalines 2.0 kernel.

Running boLTEd .35 and the 1.8 kernel, drod is a solid dev. I was with him on the dx. And will stick with him on the thunderbolt. If you want speed and stability drod and b16 is where it will likely be.

Amen to that.
1.3.2 with the 1.2ghz smartass kernel is a dream.
Perfect storm and drods 1.5 kernel. I got liquid sense on the sdcard but Havnt tried it. I'm probably the only person who likes recent apps in the pulldown lol. Kinda limits my Rom choices.

ok, ya i have tried most of the roms and i really like bamfs rom, i have tried the 1.8 ghz kernel and 1.2 right now. i'm just interchanging the kernels with roms right now to find a good combo of speed and battery, but i'm definitely going to get cm7 when its released
Im thinking about buying a nexus s. I have a vibrant now and besides the ffc is it worth it? Is the processor better? How's the developing over here ( I can look but since I don't regularly I have no idea what's stable, fast, etc)? In comparison of phone specs it didn't seem much different but I know alot of people upgraded from the vib to the nexus.
Its pretty much between the g2x and the nexus so was wondering if I should stay a samsung follower or...
Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I love his kernel, only part I don't care for is the preinstalled overclock. Voodoo Color is nice though :]
edit: Heres the download http://cl.ly/9BnL/imoseyon_leanKernel_voodoo_0.13.6.zip
Do I install this through Odin or CWM?
CWM. Just "install zip from SD card"
Just FYI, this is already in Gummy2.0, so if you're on that ROM then you are on this kernel.

Overclock is not enabled by default. The kernel allows you to oc up to 1.4ghz with voltage control or a similar app. If you don't like it don't use it.

The way the changelog is phrased it seems like it's overclocked by default, not only that but when I started up Voltage Control for the first time the advanced section was up to 1400, general was 1000mhz though. Overclocking confuses me.

Yeah apparently he's got voodoo color on it that's why the colors look different than IMNUTS' kernel. In fact, here's a quote from the man himself.
imnuts said:
It will work, though it wasn't a simple edit as the files that are changed didn't have all the same methods the files that voodoo color has and makes changes to. Imoseyon seems to have gotten at least some of the voodoo color changes built into the kernel though.

This is so awesome! Finally the colors look correct instead of way oversaturated !!!
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk
Agreed! Also, according to what imnuts' said(unless I'm misinterpreting) that's not even the full Voodoo Color, so we can look foward to an even better version in the future :] Voodoo Color was made for Super Amoled and not SAmoled+ so that's why he can't just copy it over.
Did anyone take pictures of their Charge before/after voodoo color?
I read over at the Gummy 2.0 thread something about IMoseyOn's kernel not having support for HDMI output. I don't have a cable, I just ordered it, but can anyone confirm.

If it's true you can expect it to be fixed by the time your cable arrives.

I've had no issues with the HDMI out on this kernel. Used it to watch Netflix this morning on the big screen and it worked perfectly. I'm not using gummy, i'm on humblecomb. Perhaps it's a gc issue and not the kernel.

FYI about Voodoo Color: the color-correction only kicks in at 100% brightness, so if you're like most people and leave auto-brightness on, don't expect colors to look better because the calibration won't be in effect.
Super AMOLED+ also has much less of an inherent blue tint than Super AMOLED did, so I'm not even sure the difference is very noticeable at full brightness.
What would make a definite difference are the text sharpening enhancements (the Charge still applies an overly aggressive sharpness filter, much like the Galaxy S), but since text is far more accurately sharp on the + to begin with due to the loss of Pentile I can't really tell if that's active in this kernel.
So, bottom line: Voodoo Color was made for the screen on the original Galaxy S, and ours is a good deal different (and improved)... so don't expect it to make a huge difference like it did on the Fascinate. If/when supercurio makes a new Voodoo Color implementation specifically for the Galaxy SII, then we may see more of an improvement (but again, never as much as with the original Galaxy S because our screens are just better to begin with).
It's a huge difference. Colors went from oversaturated to balanced. White looks white instead of blue.

So just curious, I flashed this kernel and voltage control still says it's incompatible with my kernel. Also, when using any cpu app, it still shows my max as 1000mhz.
For the record I didn't get a wipe when I flashed it using cwm.

CM7 is working for me right now. It may be getting a little bit old, but since it is running stable for me at the moment, I will probably stick with it until AT&T releases GB for our lovely big screened handheld supercomputer... jk we will never get GB... at least not before we get ICS

First time opting for a non-Samsung ROM as a daily driver. Even with its hiccups, it's smooth and stable, and I get my hardware accelerated 1080p FLAC+subtitles MKV with DicePlayer. I'm missing the TouchWiz contacts app though.

Thanks again for our infuse members placing their votes, i really wanted to see how our members have been using these roms , especially with the incredible dumps which have been coming lately lmao
Tried a good few of the roms available, like them all but seem to keep falling back to CM7. The phone just seems to run the best with it. And the UCKJ1 modem is the best I've found for the area I live in!
