This sounds quite normal to me. Facebook may be a big drainer. If you want to investigate further, try BetterBatteryStats, but i don't think you will see something unusual.

[Q] Need help regarding battery issue Samsung GT i5801 galaxy 3

I have been using samsung galaxy 3 for last 3 weeks. As a newbie as a android user I am really confused about battery back up I am getting. I am generally getting 1-1.5 days back up, with moderate use of, 5-10 shorter phone calls, 3-4 hours of surfing, GPS always off, background data/auto sync off and switching it on only I connect to APN. More over I feel that I am not getting the proper battery indicator reading also. It shows battery is almost over and shuts off, and when I switching it on it shows 30% is still remaining. This is utterly confusing. I dont know anything about rooting phones and all. So anyone there to help this layman?? Please. Thanx in advance.

the battery of our phone lasts that much only even mine lasted for 1.5 days
lot of reviews say that our battery lasts only 2days with normal use
yea... battery lasts for a day or 2 only.. android uses much power.. so its normal..
battery LIFE!!
Yeah battery lasts 1.5 days for heavy usage..
you can boost performance by installing juice defender like apps from market.
also by underclocking and undervolt you can save some power.
for battery calibration follow this, it helped me to boost my battery life as it eliminates the so called memory effect.

Post your Battery Drain Idle (mA)

Now that Current Widget works on the Sensation It would be interesting to see what everyone else is getting on idle.
Im running standard rom Vodafone UK Branded and it doesnt seam to dip below 200mA on average, the lowest was 89ma for a few secs then shot back up. I have had it running and logging over night.
What is everyone else getting?

I'm getting 140-170 at idle, this is with juice defender, and data set to on every 2 hours
To be honest I don't think battery monitor widget I is reflecting the right amount of drainage. Change it from sensation to estimated and watch how much your numbers change

Mine is around 250ma when in idle. Overnight I have bluetooth, wifi, gps and push mail off and it only checks mail every 4 hours... so not quite sure what it is doing. Was running the same s/w on my HD2 and was getting < 5ma.

Same for me, I was getting <5ma on my HD2 when idle.
I wonder if SetCPU really works with the Sensation, having 250ma when idle would kill the battery way too fast!
I'm not sure if I have the maths/theory totally wrong, but pls correct me if so.... but if we have a reading of 250mah that means we are taking 250 ma per hour. Say our baterry is 1500mah (should provide 1500ma for one hour) does that mean we get 6 hours (1500/250) from a full charge??
Shoot me down if I have the theory wrong.... but 250mah does seem a lot. Presume that we need to trust the reading we are getting from the Battery Monitor Pro widget.

I think your math is correct, but something is surely wrong as I can get 3+ days under very light usage.
something wrong with mine tooo, ex user of hd2 usually around 7-9 mah when hd2 in idle, now use sensation around 200++
I gonna leave it 1rst if my battery drain in 6-7 hours then something wrong with my sensation but if it over 8 hours seem there is flaw in current widget
When the App does logging, your phone will need more power. Not accurate in my opinion. I also got something like 200 mA for idle. But it's not so much more when playing music etc. I assume the display consumes most of the power (Android's battery usage info agrees with me). Try measuring it in standy as follows: Disable your logging apps etc, remember your battery status in %. Leave it in Standby overnight, remember the time when you turn it off. In the morning, check your batetry status and note the time so that you can tell how many % you lost in what time. Then take that percentage from your battery capacity (1580 mah with stock battery). Divide this by the amount of hours and you will find your standby drain. Mine is something like 16 ma.
Example: Your battery when you go to sleep: 80%. You sleep for 8 hours. Your battery reading now: 70%. Thats 10%. 10% of 1580 mah is 158 mah. Divided by 8 is 19.75 ma. That's your standby consumption.
I recommend you do this when your battery is around 50%. My battery stays at 100% for a very long time, don't know why...
Just installed an update to the Battery Monitor Pro Widget that is supposed to address the issue of high current readings ont he Sensation. Will see how it goes.

Makes no difference.
No app to date is accurately measuring the stdby current (screen off) Clearly 200mA is not correct as your phone would only last 8 hours wiith no usage!
I'm getting 6 mA on idle, around average of 200 mA while in use.
I'm using battery monitor widget(free version).
I'm recording the history at 1 hour interval. sometimes idle mA doesn't record because it fall within that time frame.
but when it does, 6mA.

Go to your monitoring settings and go to ma retrieval settings and put it on sensation and then tell us what readings you get? I'm assuming your setting is on estimated right now
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA Premium App
Now here's a strange thing.... was looking at my ma usage graph over night and noticed a couple of times it was on almost 0ma and not the normal 200-250ma. On looking at the history I noticed that this as the only time the temp fell below 25deg C. All other history was 200-250 and the temp was 25 and above.... very strange.... might put it in the fridge for a few minutes tonight!!

Lots of us exaggerators out there but again.. don't let contrary evidence get in the way of your rant. No one is claiming everyone gets this battery life, but there are plenty who do.
When you get done reading all these "exaggerations" and seeing the pictures (gosh they must be Photoshopped) you can retract your accusation of lying.

In an attempt to get back on topic...
The recent update to CurrentWidget mentions it now works on the Sensation, but it's definitly not reading mA's correctly. Still a work in progress, I suppose.
What is everyone's feelings on Battery Monitor Widget (I am at work now so can't download it) and what is with this estimated setting? What is the point of that???
BTW, I can easily go 2 days with the 2 Sensations at my house...

how long should my battery last

I am trying to figure out of my battery is dying to fast.
I charged it yesterday and today I was had skype running on my break at work (1hr break). I had facebook and browser open. No videos or music running though. I had gps running for about 5 minutes at one point on the way home to test it.
I did some texting about an hour ago.
Battery was around 95% this morning and now it's at 28%.
how long should the battery last?
My battery was this morning90% in the night 23:00 it was turn out of battery .

apparently not very long....
charged it fully ready for 9am sunday, and by 12pm the battery was completely dead.
I've CD2M running, google push on about 4 accounts, and the wifi was on from 10am
I'n on Acurateam's GB rom and with an overclock to 1188MHz I still get great battery life. I charged it 16 hours ago, played half an hour of pirates of the carribean, sent four messages, made one phonecall and browsed for about 20 minutes and still have 70% left. With normal use I charge every other day.
Push for three accounts, wifi on when not in standby, 3G enabled.

I am running on roughly 7 hours at 78% of battery left. Been using the Internet a lot (Facebook, some Drop Box upload/download) and the Wifi is on all the time when the tab is not locked/standby. I played a little bit of a basic game as well (Free Flow), so it isn't graphically intense. I am by no means the most experienced here, but in my opinion, that sounds like some decent, if not very good, battery usage..

I used mine on Friday for 10hrs,tons of browsing,I turned the screen on and off many, many times, video calls for roughly 10mins,music,games for 45mins and at the end of all this I still had a 42% left.
The device is the P3100 wifi+3g it is rooted; I was only using wifi,so no 3G at all, I also had the tab on airplane mode with wifi constantly running,so no 911 calls.
I am running the latest stock rom,it is rooted and bloatware free,I also limit the background processes down to none,1 or 2 max.
So far I am very happy with my tab, although wifi is still spotty.
OP What are your settings?

Yes, my screen is usually on about 6 to 7 hrs. And my battery life is about 15 to 24 hours.
I wonder those said their battery can stay for more than 1 day, how long was their screen on?
My guess is although the battery can stay long time but the screen on is only about 6 to 7 hours.
If yours only 5 hours maybe the gsm signal was not good. Try to change to 2g only. Or change other provider.

I am sure there are people who use the tabs for different things,if you are studying or reading a lot you will be able to see how long it lasts on, for users like me that turn it on and off pretty often the battery lasts maybe longer. I use it a lot for hours and hours, but it is never on for more than 1hr.

good day.
No problem for me about battery on Tab p3100
I felt that having Sim card inside the 3100 drains the battery pretty fast. I was not using much of 3G/GPRS connection. So after removing the Sim, I found battery usage reduced drastically. Overnight, the battery used to drain by 7 to 8% in standby mode with Sim card inside.
I don't understand, how people can comfortable use tablet with screen brightness at 0% or even 20%... it's mystical to me..If you buying tablet, you want to get good screen quality, good battery life (even at 50-70% brightness), smooth performance and so on...I have 2 tablets, ipad 2 and Samsung 3110. I really love my samsung, but battery life totally suck on it, when you compared to ipad...
Not a good comparison, iPad has a bigger battery

Samsung galaxy note 2 gt n7100 battery drains fast while using it.

Hello all, I just bought a new note 2 and I know it has an extra ordinary battery but the thing is whenever I use the telephone surfing web on wifi checking facebook and twitter the battery drains with a rate of 1% each 5 mins maybe less. I've seen most post s about the battery and unchecked all the things I dont need that drains battery but still the batter drains fast.
I long press the home button to make sure that the application im using is the only active application and it is but the battery keeps draining especially from 100 to 90 doenst take an hour maybe less and it is starting to annoy me alot now that the battery keeps draining like that.
Is there a way to test it or something I've seen alot of posts of battery lasting 1day plus mine doesnt do that.
Please if someone can help me.
