Ok so heres the scenario. When I go to my contacts I can see them all, click on any of them no problem etc. But when I go into my groups and try to click on one of my contacts a popup comes us saying complete action using... no matter what i try it doesnt do anything. So I erased my groups but i still have my groups under the gmail on my phone. well random contacts there are doing the same thing. I have also noticed call settings is there twice in the list and when i click the first one down it does nothing. when i click the second one i get the com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly error. I hit force stop and phone goes right back to working. Just seems weird that its random contacts. Also when i had the groups if they didnt have a "g" next to them i would get the same thing.
I have flashed my phone with 2.2 from this site (baseband I897UCJI6) (kernel 2.6.32.9)
Anyone know how to fix this or what is wrong?
good old gmail... accounts and sync on the phone find the sync settings for gmail and set em to what you want synced
I did that and it is only showing me contacts with phone numbers. but what i mean is i had groups on my phone and when going into a contact within the group, if it was one i put in and is not synced with gmail its asking me how to complete action. But if i access that same contact right from contacts and not from the group tab it works just fine.

Since I got my Android phone ive synced my SIM contacts to my gmail accounts and whenever I add a new contact I save it under my Gmail account ( when asked by the prompt).
I have noticed Ive been losing some contacts and I have no idea why. It happened like 3 times before and today I did a factory reset and when I synced my gmail contacts I noticed most of the recently added contacts were not there, logged on to my gmail account and checked the contacts there and didnt find them either.
This is really frustrating. other than the fact that I need one of my contacts info for urgent reasons, Its really embarrassing to keep on asking for the same person's number over and over again. Theres this particular guy's number that my phone just wont keep, Ive lost 3 times already and today I lost it again.
Sorry for the rant. Why is this happening ? How can I fix it ?

I sync contacts with Google and have never lost a contact. It sounds like it's NOT synching with Google, and that's the problem.
Try adding the contacts to Google via a browser and see if they appear on the phone. If not then you're not synching correctly and need to check your account settings on your phone. You certainly shouldn't lose any contacts if you add them that way anyway.
Since setting up my phone on 20th April, Google contacts has failed to sync, but Samsung contacts is working fine. This is showing up in both the Cloud/Accounts/Google contact sync and in the Contacts App /manage contacts/sync contacts. Is anyone else experiencing the same, thinking it may be that i used Smart switch to transfer content from my S6.

Download "contacts sync fix" from the play store and run it. Worked for me.
Is this with all contacts? Or just those You've entered in your new phone? What if you add a contact via the website? Does that sync to your phone?

I was having the same issue of not syncing Contacts in two Google Account, used the suggested app, it seems to be working. Thanks.
I've noticed I lost some contacts when I synched my s7 to my s8. I realized it when I would get texts from someone, see no name and just their number in the messaging app but was able to figure out who it was based on the message history which transferred over fine using smart switch. Of course the missing contacts were propogated to google and not sure how they got deleted.
Hope this solution might work for you ! I'm using S8 plus and the root cause was that the battery saving mode disabled these things

Fixed
After switching over to to the S8+ from the S7 EDGE, I
1. uninstalled the main Gmail account from my new phone
2. Reinstalled it
3. Restored contacts from main phone settings menu
4. Went to phone, contacts menu, and removed the "hide contacts with no number"
5. Magically, the contacts I wanted... were there. But they had their numbers stored in another account. Not sure why.
6. Copied and pasted the number I had been missing into all my main or pertinent Gmail accounts from within the contacts app of the phone.
7. Beautifully, the contact shows up now... AND... the phone backs up and syncs contacts as it should with no error message.

If you turn on power saving mode , just turning off the Power Saving feature .
I try on my Galaxy Note 5 it work....
This app fixed my contacts issue as well. I've used iOS for five years now, but now bought a Samsung S8. LOVE this new device! Only my new contacts wouldn't keep properly synced to my Google Apps account (basically my domain coupled with gmail). This app fixed this, everything now works peachy! I'm going to buy this app just to reward its creator! THANKS!

Disappearing contacts
I have Verizon S8+ and lately gmail contacts I have had in my Android phones for years, have started disappearing. Last week, I noticed in messages, a number with no name. when I looked at texts, I noticed this is a friend I have had in my phone for years and his number had been deleted in gmail. I noticed about 10 others that same thing has happened. I had to go back into gmail and enter number. Anyone know why this is happening?

What's annoying is that no where does it say anything about the mode interfering with your account settings.

I am suffering from this problem as well, tried turning off battery saving mode, downloaded the contact sync fix app and still nothing. Still says last contact synced in March. Also my calender won't sync nor Keep Notes either :/

HELP!!!!
My contacts only sync one way between Google Contacts and my phone Contacts app.
If I enter data in Google Contacts (on the Web interface) it instantly appears in my phone Contacts app.
But if I enter data on the phone Contacts app, it never appears in Google Contacts.
I'm stumped. I've got everything else on the phone working just the way I want it, but this (fairly critical) thing, which should be a slam dunk I think, is just not cooperating.
Syncing is enabled for the phone Contacts app in the phone settings. It IS syncing... but only in one direction.
Don't know what else to try so any help greatly appreciated!
One question I have is this:
Is the data SUPPOSED TO sync with Google Contacts when you enter it in the phone Contacts app? Maybe it isn't supposed to work that way? That would seem very odd to me if true, but I don't know what else to conclude.

After reset, I can't sync contacts to watch. Only 4 contacts are synced. Tried everything including another reset, but the problem still remains. Developer mode is on. Any ideas?

I just had the same issue with 1 contact not syncing. My memory may be failing me, but I think I Force Stop the contacts app in the Wear plugin on my phone. Watch Settings/apps/contacts/Force Stop. Then open app, when app reopened on watch everything synced
Tried it. It syncs more contacts, but 10 of 100 contacts. Wierd.

Thanks, but I tried it already... Still stuck with about 10% from my contacts
Only other option is to remove your Google account from the phone. Reset the watch and add it to your phone again and then add Google account back to the phone. May need to remove your email app too.
