So I find a brand new Thunderbolt near the self check out line at the home depot near my office. Would make a great pda gift for my wife to play angry birds on...
So I immediately go into the contacts widget and see the one that says "mommy". I call, tell her who I am and that I find her daughters phone. Mom is ecstatic; I tell her it will be at the service along with my business card. . Karma better come 'round in a good way...

Would you believe it was the second time this month I found a phone and returned it?
First time I was out on a hard road ride (bicycle) and just HAPPENED to look down and see a blackberry in a case. I stopped, couldn't dial out( it was locked) so I rode to my town where there is an ATT store. I walked in, shoes, helmet, lycra, and handed it to the guy behind the desk. Phone was pristine.

Well, after trying to make a trade for my phone to a guy that had rep in Puerto Rico, it had failed. He tried to scam me. Instead of a phone in the mail, i got a disc for a manual to a car. And, it went to an address close to my house of an automotive place. So, i was able to stop the packages before they reached him. They recalled them. They were overnighted back to Des Moines, IA. Then, due to a shipping error, they were shipped back to Puerto Rico. So, the post master has been notified and they are now going to package them up and ship directly to my post office where I will be able to pick up directly without worry of it being sent back. Cost me 5 bucks to ship to PR. Cost me 4 times that to recall them and wait 2 weeks.
Needless to say, when I get my phone back, I will definitely be hugging it and giving it some TLC. I sold the Note that I had on crackberry. So all I had was a Motorola razor v3. hate that phone!!!
But, come May when I am due for early upgrade to iPhone-I will be making that switch to a 32gb. If I don't decide to wait for iPhone5.

And yeah, no kidding. All these years I've been trading. My first one was a Blackberry 8100. Never had a problem. But this time... it sucked. I am done doing trades. Never again. Straight up Paypal only. Lesson learned.
Lets hope they really show up tomorrow. Suppose to package them both as one and ship directly to the post office. We shall see... I have been waiting too freaking long. And if it doesn't, I will be pissed at USPS.

I just want to point out it is important to atleast mention an online name of the person who tried to scam you. You were almost out your atrix 2 and this "guy from PR with rep" is still out there probly scamming others and you think it wasnt important to mention those details?

back in the US (at least for a few days)

So last year while on NYC vacation I baught my SGS 4G's (1 for me and 1 for the wife) and been messing with them ever since...
Mainly making this beauty speak and look Hebrewish for my Israeli mates.
Now I'm back in the US, for another great vacation.
Currently in Miami for 2 days, then a cruise the Bahamas,
4 days in Vegas and 4 last days in NYC again (just love this city).
I was planning on the t-mobile monthly 4G unlimited 50$ plus 10$ for international calling
But when I realized I have to add 35$ for the activation, I was talked into taking the pay by the day
3$ a day for unlimited web & calling without the international calling and bought an international calling card.
I hope I made the right decision. That's quite a few bucks for a short vacation (less than 2 weeks) but
it's my first trip abroad having 4g and it's a delight.
Freaking hot here in Miami. I guess Vegas will not be colder..
at least I will stroll the strip airconditioned hotels.

Prepaid credit - 3$ a day. Activated whenever you use it.
If your balance is too low you don't get access. After 3 months of no use, sim card gets obsolete.
Just boarded the cruise. Wifi costs here, and my plan is invalid here as soon as we leave land, so I'll be back in 3 days.

I am sure there are many US to israel calling websites that are cheap.
Just search call Israel from US. They probably have very cheap like 1 cent a minute deals. And they are prepaid. Just fill it with cash and you can use it every time you come back. You'll probably just dial a 1-800 number, enter your pin, then enter the isreali number.
I know this cause our family has a few friends in the UK.
It is probably alot cheaper than something a calling card.

Had no communication on the ship or in the Bahamas but had a blast. You must go to the Atlantis resort on Nassau, it's a true wonder. Pools, lagoons, aquariums, waterparks and more.Now I'm in Vegas. Good thing I got my T-mobile 3G/4G 3$ a day package, cause every hotel charges like 15$ an hour for wifi!
I already spent 70% of my money on 40% of the trip, so no gambling for me.
Carl, sorry to say that, but I didn't like Miami. The only reason I got there was to take the cruise. I also blew 70$ each way just to get to the sowgrass mills outlet and the MI airport changed the gates of the flight and I barely made it...
Not to mention my mediterranean complexion caused everyone to turn to me in Spanish...

Celine's show was spectacular. All the audience gave her standing ovation almost every song ... me, I enjoyed it but my legs ached from all the hotels explorations. Just sat and applauded...
They asked not to photo or record anything and a guy hear me (with HTC I think) recorded her through MIUI tape recorder, inserted his phone to the bag and accidentally pressed the 'play' button. So we heard the playback... but he overcame quick enough that nothing happened... LOL

I was in NYC Colombus Circle Time Warner Center - it is filled with Samsung store adds to be opened on August 15th - I asked where is the store - receptionist told me they rolled back, no Sammy store will be opened there. WTF?! at least get rid of the adds sign, looks shameful...

AT&T campers for Saturday thread

anyone else planning on camping outside AT&T this Saturday for first grabs at the S4?
I called a few AT&T stores, and all of them said they don't have S4s, but expect to get them on the 26th, and don't know how many, or are even sure if they're all going to get them.... (╥__ ╥╬).. meh. so looks like the day before ill have to make a lot of phone calls to find an AT&T that can confirm they have them.
do you think there will be a lot of competition? do you think AT&T will be well stocked, or just get a few in? I'm wondering how early i should get there, and what to expect, what're you guys doing?

I want an S4 as bad as the next phone geek on here, but camping out is not necessary lol. They would not have announced the relaese to the world on Twitter if they did not plan to have plenty of the phones on hand. AT&T knows people will be able to go almost anywhere to get this phone, and trust me, they want to keep you as a customer. Stock will not be a problem. The reps like to be deceptive and vague, it creates a mystic and hype around the release of any cool new phone. They can do that because as you will find out when you walk in the store tomorrow, half of them will already be using thier S4's so they don't care.
As far as camping goes? Don't be ridiculous! Make an scheduled appointment for an upgrade at the exact time they open and show up 5 minutes before they turn the lock on that door. "Appointments" have priority over "walk-ins". So just wait a minute or two with confidence as they enter all those names of the idiots that camped out into the little tablet and you will be the first up! That tip is for free, enjoy....

I just made an appointment. Should get interesting if there actually is a line and people get to cut.

Don't get why people don't pre order online. I got my s4 this past Wednesday because I pre ordered it the first day preorders were available.

lol, I just witnessed an "Epic mouth foaming" full fledged melt down in a BB...
I started to laugh and the person gave me the stare down of doom, made me chuckle some more.
And then I asked the CSR if they had cheese to go with all the "wine" they just received... The girl teared up a bit and then asked if I would like to apply for a BB CC...
How does a grown person just "Melt down" @ 10:15 in the morning over a device that's not supposed to be released to them until the 10th?
To all the CSR's that are going to be yelled at, called names, need to get a manager or call the cops today. "We" as in the royal "We" apologize in advance. Good luck and please keep sane today.
My mom is coming in to get a phone. All she knows is that it is big, and she doesn't have to squint to see the text messages when the she doesn't have her glasses on.... She won't yell or scream at you. She won't complain about not having accesories. All you have to do is transfer her contacts and photo's. And show her how to assign ringtones. Please be nice to her

This forum has actually made me feel bad for what the CSR's go through. I've always been more than polite to them (because who wants to help an asshole?) but I've silently resented them for not trying to be more sympathetic. Well I see why now, they put up with so much of peoples **** it makes them callous. I'm sure we have some members on this forum that are CSRs and I would love to hear some horror stories :laugh:

I actually just got off the phone with Verizon to ask about International roaming plan options and asked about shipping date for the Note 3 for the hell of it.
The woman I spoke to was like 'Oh yeah, we have it'
I got excited.
Then she said 'It's available on 10/10 for pre-order'
Sadness ensues.

Eventually police show up because a customer or 5 will call them even if the CSR's won't.
I have dealt with the same store for years now. They try to help as much as they possibly can and the majority of the customers appreciate them calling corp sprint and working stuff out. Maybe because its a corporate store or maybe because of the clientele. But Christ, some people are complete douche nozzles... Without any tack or situational awareness. But the CSR's at this store are definitely very understanding and courteous.

Heh. Any chance this is in LA? I've been on the phone all morning with an AT&T rep who's been calling AT&T stores in the LA area trying to find me a black Note 3. None of them have inventory, but apparently some crazy lady is calling around giving everyone a hard time lol.
EDIT: Turns out they do have the black ones in stock after all. Sorry for the misinformation!

Pasadena Best Buy has them in Black for AT&T also the Glendora Best Buy has them as well...

Damn that sent a chill down my spine... right across from the Beverly Center... I used to work up in that mall back in the day and I waited at the bus stop right there on the corner of 3rd and La Cienega every damn day... miss that time and place... hmmm... small internet

Not sure if you heard the news stories about two "adult" women knocking the crap out of each other at an apple store over the "golden" iphone. There just aren't enough of them so they started brawling. That is just so pathetic, it is a phone, you can order one and get it later on. Yeah I want my phone early, called BB, certainly didn't drive there to day and was told nope, the 10th. I was cool with that and figured it would be the case but hey it never hurts to ask.

Yeah there a few stories of people being .. people...
On the bright side my mom got her device and is a happy camper.Which ever CSR she dealt with was courteous and spent time showing her a bunch of stuff and filming it at the same time. Gave her a copy so she wouldn't forget any of the new things she was shown. She gave a $35 tip for their time. And bought the person a starbucks coffee.
