Just to let you guys know free game MEGATROID by Triolith Entertainment AB works with Xperia Play's slide out controller despite claiming to be non compatible with our devices on Google Play. The controls only work in game but are perfect, whilst menu selection is touchscreen (which a lot of optimized games do anyway). It's a combo of Megaman and Metroid and a nice little time passer...enjoy!
...Oh and if you switch the controls to 'Tablet' in options they're are hardly visible on screen

You'll have to go onto a forum like (Market Militia) and download it from the 'Free' games section. Since it's a free game I figure downloading it from one of their links is fine

Makes sense as my Xperia Play is R800i. No need to spoof myself now as I already have it. I'm assuming it's an error that will be amended shortly.
Game is really damn fun I sure do hope everyone gives this a shot.
BTW, I contacted the developer about seeing if they'd add an option to hide on-screen controls completely (and add the one-liner to the AndroidManifest.xml so that it shows up in the Game Launcher).
I heard it uses a freemium model, is it playable without paying at all?

The latest update for Tegra Zone game Riptide, has added support for external game controllers on honeycomb tablets. I loaded up the latest version of Riptide using Chainfire 3D(of course), and when I went into the settings menu it let me map every area of the Play! As far as I am concerned, this game is now Xperia Play optimized, just gotta added a little edit to the XML file and Ill be all set.

Which also means you'll need root...
I emailed the Riptide devs and they said they will come out with a non-tegra version this fall and are looking into making it Xperia Play optimized.
I guess none of the others are optimized so it's not really worth bothering enabling it really.

Could you share the specific settings you applied through chainfire on this game please
All I did was use the nvidia plugin. Didn't tick any boxes. In the game, you can go into the settings menu and go to controller setup and map the controls.

Just had an update Race Of Chapions (Roc) by Invictus has xperia play support. You may have to change controlls in settings to xperia play pad but still not a bad racer.

Awesome find! Checking this out now. I heard some news that it'd be Xperia PLAY Optimized a couple days ago, but I definitely didn't expect it to happen that fast!
Now lets see if this brings something to the table that Asphalt 6, the Need for Speed games and Raging Thunder 2 didn't.

Go to settings, then Controller, keep scrolling right on the controls and you will eventually get to controls for hardware. It uses the buttons and the Dpad for control.
Been trying this and I like it, nice graphics, cars handle pretty nicely too.
can any one share the game data.. ?? its taking forever to download.

still doesn nothing for me. all 4 options still use the screen. of i press the "o" button it brings up the start menu thats about it

You must have missed it, go to settings, controls, in Control style swipte it all the way to the end (left), you then see the option Gamepad Control. That works on the play and works for me.
This game is awsome. The best racing game on a droid. I LOVE IT!! Very well made.

I Jane 4 different styles and game pad isn't one of them there are no words just 4 wee images. You also say swipe to the end. You can't swipe. Only hit the wee arrows. Maybe its giving me an older version but I'm downloading from market do doubt it

Officially - yes. But please look, this is Gameloft - relase date (especially for Android devices) can be changed.
I'm playing it on my iPad runs really smooth and good gameplay and visuals and even if it releases for android I highly doubt our play will run it without lags

IF Ipad runs it with high quality graphics, it's probable that Gameloft gives out a degenerated version of that on Android devices, especially for our play. Like what they did with N.O.V.A.3. and holy crap, my only wish for this game to come is with smooth R800I gamepad support also like what they did with NOVA3.:laugh:

because, in simple language our xperia play dont have the horse power to run this game
Funny thing is, the banner ad at http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/latest.asp?sec=27 shows it being advertised on the Xperia S and Play
I tried Spidey few minutes ago, and it's NOT optimised, at least on my device. We can call it 50%, cause I can move touchpads on our gamepad, but when I use one, I can't use second. When I use second (to change my view) I can't walk - it must be some "bug" of touchscreen controls - I'm pretty sure Gameloft is too lazy to make compatibility for their best game created for Xperia Play - it will be awesome to play it, but without controls - the same like Mass Effect - Infiltrator - it's just "another game" - nothing special for Play users. Cheers, and sorry for bad info .

Amazing Spiderman is truly awesome on the kindle but the graphics on the screenshots of Google play don't resemble mine even though the graphics are still top notch anyone else have a screenshot on there kf to compare lol here are mine

Use chain fire 3d pro from the market when you install make sure you check the (beta egl driver) box, after installation go to per app settings, uncheck default, and check unroll textures, thus will give you the same graphical performance as what is in those screenshots, I used this on nova 3 and it really helped graphically

You get it from Google play, there is enough space because the kf possesses more than 2gb of storage space, don't ask someone to give you a paid app apk for free on this forum please, pay for it on the play store if you want it.

1) Glu have something agaist Sony and no Glu game after hells bells Version 1.0.0 have been listed supported for any Xperia we own (our site), including the Xperia Play
2) Avengers Initiative is only for ICS and up and mostly only for Tegra 2-3 (Have tried this on an Asus Transformer and is broke. Crashes before you can play check out the market comments hardly anyone has got it working).
3) Captain America is very old (came out when the play first came out). I think back in the day it was Xperia Play Optimized but no longer is.

He's posting games to make people aware of them. The game would be awesome if it could get optimized, in that case, if it has more Xperia Play supporters, then the developer might be keen to actually optimize it. If only one Xperia Play users is asking for this feature, chances are, the developer won't do anything about it. And if that's not the reason, maybe he just really likes the game and wants to share it with the community, is that so bad? Who cares if it's not optimized, if it's a good game, I'd like to know about it.
