Hi,
could you please share with me this HDC GS3 ROM please?
Also, could you please tell me how to put the phone in Upload ROM?
is the upload is managed by Odin like for SGS3?
How to be sure that the mobile is an HDC GS3 and not another China clone.
PS: the installed ROM seems not to be an Android?
Thank you in advance.

I have same phone. When i check its android version by "about phone" it shows "android 4.0.4" but when i check it on "factory mode" it shows "android 2.3.6". Anyway, i was trying to root it. I tried many things to do that but i couldnt. Until i found a video about that. There was a program and boot img for to root it. I tried and root was successful. Until i realised that some features are doesnt work. Like GSensor, MSensor, Gps.. I was looking for hdc i9300 rom/boot img. I hope your file will work and those features will come back..:fingers-crossed:

HDC Galaxy S3 G-Sensor/Auto Rotation problem
For those who are having some problem with g-sensor or auto rotation is not working. Just do this
1.just download this file.
chinacellulars.com/s3-firmware.zip
2.then open it with winrar and extract only the boot.img
3.take the boot.img and replace it with the one in the flash tool directory
4.then flash it using flash tool( just like you did with colonel zap instructions)
5.Switch on and off your auto rotation on display settings.( sometimes needed)
6.Cheers...
Here's the trick to get rooted and solved the problem with g-sensor
1. Root your phone using colonel zap instruction using downloaded files from his site
colonelzap.blogspot.de/2012/08/hdc-galaxy-s3-i9300-rooting-and-play.html
2.Follow the instruction above to solve g-sensor problem.
Hope this will work on you....

I have this phone and I'm trying to figure out a way to upgrade it to ICS, anyone has an idea on how to do this? there are several clones of this phone running ICS and even JB, if someone has one of them maybe can upload a copy of the firmware so we can upgrade these S3 with Gingerbread. Any help will be appreciated, thanx.:good:

Just wondering if anyone has a copy of the ROM that should work with the HDC Galaxy S3 i9300.... I tried the link earlier in the question but it says page doesn't exist ...
A friend has one of these phones and has tried putting the wrong rom in to update it and now it is no good. If I can get a copy of the correct rom for the dual sim phone I will try to update it again (or at least just get it working for him.
Here's hoping

Darius, I'm stuck with a brick galaxy player. I can try to flash with a galaxy 3 firmware if you want
Do you know how to make a dump of your device so you can share with me the original firmware?

I don't know...but I'll try to find
Thanks!
I tried the firmware of galaxy 3, but didn't work
I dont think that its possible, first of all, despite being an android device, it doesnt have radio features, gsm 3g etc, only wifi, there are features that our phone does not support
Anyone found a solution for this yet? Not being able to test this device to it's full potential is really frustrating. Games are laggy and apps just do not run smooth on this one.
Has anyone tried z4root on this? I did and it freezes at "acquiring root shell".
@fedeff: how did you brick it?

I'd gladly try it as long as Samsung gives me firmware, don't want to end up with a nice looking little brick here.
Is there any way that that an installer/firmware file could be saved in the device for backup purposes or something?

factoryfs.rfs is ur firmware backup....
@arunmcops: Thanks for the instructions. If someone try this and upload it'd be great for me.
@anon3524: I accidentally reseted the device to factory, trying to fix a problem with wifi (it suddenly stopped working one day).

Ok, I am down to do this process you just explained as long as you or anyone explains to me how to recover the device with this "factoryfs.rfs" in case it gets bricked. You'd have to explain with detail how to grab this file and what to do with it etc. Also, if you could give further details on the initial process, that'd be great since a few things are unclear (to a brave noob like me).
Other than that, I am willing to try it to see the results.
BRING IT OON! *warface*
@arunmcops - I've got one of these, so have uploaded the file you wanted here - sorry, not allowed to post links yet:
dl.dropbox.com/u/6491656/Samsung/factoryfs.tar.gz (please don't flash this, its not a full rom)
I haven't made any changes to the base firmware other than renaming a couple of the phone.apk's to .old (cell standby was eating battery, and this device doesn't have a sim).
For fun, i've also uploaded a dmesg log
dl.dropbox.com/u/6491656/Samsung/dmesg.log
One other thing, i think the partition layout might be slightly different on this (might be wrong, don't have the phone) in that the internal sd card is mounted as /sdcard and the external one is /sdcard/sd.
Hope this helps!
Chris
@ctaylr Thanks for uploading the file.
I tried to load it using Odin, but it get stuck while uploading the file. The device is detected, but I think it's not transfering anything.
Is it possible to restore it form sd card?

Hi...thats probably because it isn't intended as a flashable rom. Its just a dump of the stock firmware so that arunmcops asked to see to see if it had any resemblance of the galaxy 3 f/w, to see what we'd have to do to get a working custom ROM on this device..
Please don't attack it with any kind of Norse God ...especially until there is a confirmed route back to stock. All thats contained in the files is what you have on your device already - so there is also absolutely no point (for now).
If your having trouble with your device now, you could try doing a factory reset or playing about in Kies - i've fixed my device once after I got curious and flashed a custom ROM on here (which fyi completely messed it up - something like E:multi_csc: error: open /efs/imei/mps_code.dat because we dont have an IMEI code on this device) and then got it back working again - unfortunately i can't remember exactly what I did. Otherwise if this doesn't work I'll see if i can make a working stock package for Odin.
@ctaylr, yes I'm having problems with my device. It got soft bricked. I couldn't make it work using Kies. The only thing I can do is to start it in Download mode. If you can make a working package for oding that'd be great
This might help

@fedeff Ok. i'll have a look over the weekend and see if i can make something that flashes.
Quick questions
1) do you have the 8gb or 16gb version?
2) have you tried going into recovery utils and doing a "wipe data/factory reset?" - you can do this by holding down home, volume down and volume up while turning the unit on - i seem to remember this fixed it for me, but it probably depends on how far Odin got while flashing. If your unit is already bricked, i can't see it doing much further harm
Thks

1) I have the 8gb version
2) By doing "wipe data/factory reset" is how I got it soft bricked. (the device wifi suddenly stopped working, and I thought that would help) After that it kept entering in the recovery mode. Then I tried to flash it with odin, now the only thing I can do is enter the download mode
Thanks again for helping me!

Hi! I also like the others I am interested because my Galaxy player has 50 brick and I need someone to do dump the firmware so I can flash through odin! Please would you be my salvation and many other who have this player and would like to fix without waiting for the assistance of a month

EDIT:
listen to me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726673 This is the guide on how to get the dump of your fimrware if someone kindly did this process with its galaxy player 50 and then upload the file . tar obtained would help all
I don't think it is as simple as that.
If you fully read that topic above, it tells you. That will ONLY tarball the files in the /system folder. It doesn't dump the the bootloaders, efs or produce the initrd, which is also part of the firmware.
In fact that backup is exactly what i linked to earlier here, and doesn't flash properly through Odin. I don't know Odin very well (i use a ZTE Blade and clockworkmod normally ) but i'm going to take an educated guess it needs all of this information to successfully flash the player, and trying to flash without all of that probably won't work so well.
If i'm wrong, please let me know and i'll do what i can to help.

[Q] Hi All, Nooby Newbie Here!

Hi All!
I'm new to all this Android stuff. However, I followed a guide on here and rooted my Desire S. I followed the guide to the letter but my phone has been a misery since doing it. I can't update any software, the signal is poor, text messages keep failing to send and the phone hangs and the only way to make it work again is to restart it which is getting annoying.
I rooted via Revolution, do they provide updates and if they do how do I access them? I need to do something as my phone is poorly.
I look forward to your advice.
Thanks.
Install a new rom. That may help
Hi, thanks for the advice, but as I said I am new to this and installing a new ROM is like nuclear physics to me. If someone would post up a concise, comprehensive and simple guide with links I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you.
As a complete noob myself I followed the video by desire s fanatics on you tube, it really did help me to start with. There are also numerous pages on this site with links and in depth detail, have a search around and best of luck : )

here's list of everything you need. Download one of the "latest" rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146601
I'm now using "Endymion V3.0" (It is almost stable. I didn't find any problem with this rom) and sometimes ICS (still in beta verson but is based on Android 4.0).
You can try any u like. U can remove and install new one any time. so doesn't matter..
Method 1)
copy the rom file in SD card and restart your phone in "BootLoader" (easy way to get bootloader option). . if you didn't find that option in ur rom. then simply power off ur phone. Power on and press Volume up (side left physical button) and press Volume down (just below up button) + Power button. You'll see the bootloader screen. Since you have already S-off and root ur phone, u must be familiar with this screen.
go to Recovery option..
Method 2)
Restart ur phone to recovery mode from power option. (Some rom may not have this option.)
When u r done with Method 1 or method 2,
- next steps are to Wipe Data & Cache before installing ROM.
Now when u r done with these steps.
- go to "Install Zip from Sdcard"
- go to "Choose zip from sdcard"
NOw choose the rom file you just downloaded and wait for few minutes (it may take more than 1 minute.. )
After installation, you'll get the menu again, just reboot the device. ur new rom is ready to use.
OR
If you have Rom Manager installed in ur mobile.,Open it, choose Install rom from SD CARD, browse the file. It will automatically restart and install the rom.
This is the easiest way to install ROM.
Hope this will work for you as well. All the best.

Restoring Stock Galaxy Ace
Hi there I'm also new to this forum trying to reach my 10 post
but I found a link that might be useful to you if you understand what
they mean flash the cf root...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1449320
Well I got the same question too but my question is; is it posible to just full reset the phone erase the cache partition and flash it back with the gingerbread ROMs found here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300843
I just got hold of the ICS ROM for a day but I am thinking of going back to gingerbread since it drains my battery faster than before and the functions are a little bit confusing and I am looking for familiar things that I like before on gingerbread but can't find 'em like the task killer, my files option and the sim card option. also it is very slow on booting up like the kernel glitch will show for a minute then the android icon for another minute.
Welcome to xda y'all
Yes u can
Follow these instructions
- download a gingerbread rom for ur galaxy ace
- restart ur phone with power + volume down + menu button pressed
- you'll see a screen with small text. This is called recovery
- here u move up and down using volume buttons and select with home button
- select wipe data/ factory reset
- select install zip from SD card
- select the choose zip manually
- find the gingerbread rom u downloaded
-press home button
- wait
-press back button, then select reboot phone

Once it rebooted it does not go beyond the "Logo" screen and it keeps flashing that so went ahead and tried few of this options but no luck,
Recovery mode - Unfortunately i did not do any back-up and cleaned partitioned and cache but unable to do anything beyond that?
I do not have Custom Recovery Mod also with me so no much luck there also

Yes, you would need to download a software called Odin. You also need to download a compatible firmware. You stated you have a N-7100. Your firmware should be available here. Simply search for N7100. If you do not see yours listed, please let me know.
If you do find it, put your phone into download mode (hold Vol Down + Home + Power), open up Odin on your computer, then plug your phone to your computer, in Odin, select the "PDA/AP" tab, a window will popup, select the file you downloaded (it will be in a .tar format, if it is in .zip, simply extract it and you will find the .tar file), wait a few seconds while it checks the file. Once it is ready, select start. It will take several minutes to finish and you will be back to 100% stock. You will be able to update your phone without receiving that error. Hope that helps.
EDIT: Here is a video I found that may be useful. It is step by step.

unrooting N7100
You don't provide enough information (stock /custom rom, reasons for unroooting,...) for an easy answer imho.
Don't deem me rude ... but to my reckognition it's the best way to start with learning 'how do I make good use of web & forum search mechanisms' - before trying to mess with some complex devices' firmware.
Most probably you'll want to continue reading here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
