My phone is not receiving text messages but it can send - Samsung Infuse 4G

This is the first time this has ever happened. I've been using MIUI v 2.3.9 and it happened just last night, just suddenly stopped receiving texts. Anyone know what I should do?

Couple of things:
Is your data turned on?
Have to you checked your APN settings?

It sounds like typical AT&T being a tard. But in any case it isn't, try these APN settings.

If none of that works, wait a day or call at&t and see if there's an issue in the area. If none of that works, you will probably have to factory reset.
Did you try sending a message to yourself?

Ok im gonna try the APN thing, I tried it last night but I don't know if I had the right settings in. I called ATT last night they couldn't figure it out. If all else fails I shall factory reset thank you !!

Factory data reset fixed it, I'm wondering if I had reached a capacity of text messages on my phone or something? it's weird but as soon as I factory reset the phone, all the messages flooded through!!

I can't say I've ever had that happen before. Weird! I'm just glad you got it fixed. I still recommend those APN settings though

SMS stopped working

The last time I received a text or sent one successfully was Friday evening. I didn't notice the issue until today. When I send a text it says that it was sent but it isn't received on the other end. Same thing when texts are sent to me. I was on CM7 RC4. I've tried the final release and I've tried reflashing RC4. Nothing seems to solve the issue. Does anyone have a suggestion? I'm on a company plan with unlimited texts if that is important.

Try going into Settings>wireless & Networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names>menu>reset to default
I've had luck in the past doing those steps when unable to send MMS or SMS. That will reset all your network settings that might have gotten mixed up or corrupted while flashing ROMs.
Thanks for the reply but didn't work. I also noticed that if I try to send a MMS it just sits on sending.

Try a reboot after you reset the defaults. You might have to do it more than once for it to take.
Tried it 4 times with a reboot after each one. Still not working. Its just strange because it doesn't error or anything. It acts like it sends it but it never gets received.

Hmmm...then in might actually be something on AT&T's end. They may need to reset it from their end. You could try a different ROM and see if it changes?

Thanks for your help but that didn't work either. It actually took my mobile data away. I'm gonna try a stock rom tomorrow and if that doesn't do it I will talk to our IT department. Thanks again for your help.

Well, I flashed Cognition since it was from Inspire base and that didn't help either. It has to be something on AT&Ts end. Waiting to hear back from my IT department since it is a work phone.
This happened to me when I changed to the 4g data plan; At&t deleted my sms plan and blocked sms services. A relatively short call got stuff back online quickly.
FWIW: The woman I spoke with said that this was a known problem with the system.

I think this is kind of what I am experiencing. My problem is that this is a work phone so I can't call AT&T about it. My IT department says there is no "4G" plan to select for my account. I still can't use the default APN that comes with the phone to get data. I have to manually create one to use mobile data.
Just wanted to post that this was resolved. For some reason AT&T still had my Captivate listed on my profile. I guess they just caught it and started turning off my services.( I lost mobile data today) IT department got it sorted out and everything is working again.

Stuck in roaming

I have a problem where my Charge thinks I am always roaming. One other person in posted in this forum with this problem but had no responses and he is a one post wonder. Has anyone else seen this problem. I have sent this device to Samsung twice and it has not been fixed. They will not replace it. Verizon did some stuff overt the phone that was of no help. This does not happen if I put my sim in a Thunderbolt and it does happen if I put another Sim into this device. It has to be the device. Any ideas?
i think that I ran into this problem just the other day have you figured out how to fix it.
I thought that the sim was supposed to automatically update roaming.
I have tried flashing Roms over top using odin cwm and nothing has helped, i don't know what else to do.
What are you running on it (roms, radios, etc) and what have YOU done to try fixing it?

I was on Gummy charge fe 1.9.1 and a few days ago it put me into roaming mode. all the areas where i would have perfect 4g or 3g reception say i am roaming. I tried reflashing the gummy rom in odin and in cwm then i tried getting the new leak to see if the newest modems would fix it. Niether of those worked so i tried flashing the EE4 stock rom and that didn't work either. I didn't want to keep flashing after that because i didn't want to end up ruining my phone any mor. I flashed each of them a few times to make sure it wasn't just an error.
I wiped all data did factory restore wiped cache dalvik and even battery(i know that didn't really do anything useful but thought i would try it).
I didn't know what else to do so i figured i would leave it on stock unrooted and see if anyone could help me here before i called up verizon.
I also tried taking the battery out and sim for about half an hour to see if that would do anything but it didn't help either.
Is "data network mode" on your power menu activated? May seem like a stupid question....Also, can you make calls?

Yes i can make and recieve calls also i can send and recieve text messages. I did find out that when i go into a 4g area that it will connect so i was wrong about that part. Earlier i just assumed the 4g would act the same I just wasn't in a 4g area for a couple days because I had off of work. But as soon as I leave the 4g area it says that I am roaming.
This info may help solve the problem and sorry about saying the 4g didn't work. you know what they say when you assume you just make an ass out of u and me.
I am thinking that it is just the 3g antenna going bad or something because I saw that was happening to some people but I am not sure if it is the same predicament.
Thank you for the help so far though.
Oh yeah and also the mobile network is on If that was the problem I would probably be really upset with myself that i didn't notice. Although I have seen it happen when i went to verizon to get a new sim card after something happened to mine I ended up waiting there for half an hour for them to get my phone working only to find out the reason they couldn't get the new sim working right was because they had the mobile data turned off.
Multiple Roms, stock and custom, gingerbread and froyo. kernels radios, you name it. No problem with voice. Shows data roaming all the time and will not get data unless I enable data roaming in the settings. If I pull my sim out and put it in my Thunderbolt there are no problems. I also tried a different sim and the problem was still there. I have already sent it to Samsung for this as well as talked to Verizon.

So its probably a outage I'm your area give T-Mobile a call and fond out for sure. Also could be your apn settings. Try restoring apn settings back to default

MMS over WiFi?

I'm wondering if this is a problem across the board. Lately in have been running a few different ROMs. Hyperdrive, moar and the most recent moar 5.0.1. I have noticed that my MMS won't go through while I am on WiFi. I don't know if this has been a problem for a while and I haven't noticed it. I really like the app textra, and unjust started using it the other day. I thought that was the issue. Uninstalled it and I am still having the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

I really hope someone has a cure for this because it has been driving me insane. I shouldn't have to turn off wifi every time I want to send an mms to someone!

I'm thinking it's a rom issue because I just wiped my phone and installed cyanogenmod and I can send and receive mms messages over wifi without any trouble
are u using a network extender by chance when your on WiFi?

I always thought it was a network thing. I thought they required you to send and receive MMS through the cell towers because they're stored at Verizon servers before being passed along to the recipient. I had the same issue on my LG Ally, haven't tried MMS over WiFi on my gs3, but now I'm curious.

No, I'm not using a network extender. Interesting thing tho. MMS will not go thru at all on MOAR or Hyperdrive. I flashed bonestock 3.1 and when I send an MMS over wifi, the 4G turns on (so now the wifi icon and 4G are on) and it will send the MMS.......hmmmmmm
MMS / SMS are both sent over data networks, as this is the only way VZW can count how many you send, thus being able to bill those who do not have unlimited text messages. (this came from a VZW rep when i called in to get a work order on my phone, as mine wouldn't work)
When the S3 first came out, there was an issue with the devices as a whole, fully stock and unrooted, having problems sending text messages when the phone was on WIFI. The process is, when you hit send, it will shut off your WIFI, switch to data, send message, and then switch back to WIFI without you noticing it.
however, in the beginning, there was an issue with the phone doing this. AND this was even before rooting the phone. VZW and Samsung had to do a fix for their radios to get the phone to work correctly.
so what you are probably seeing, is an issue with that switching, not that the message won't go over WIFI, cuz unless these DEVs have figured out how to make messages go over internet instead of data network, then the issue is a ROM issue with the switch.
hope that makes sense...

Unfortunately, this is the answer that is most often given, but not very helpful (no offense). I think the majority of people with the issue at this point understand that MMS is sent via data networks by design, the problem is, it is not functioning properly. It is NOT shutting off the WiFi, therefore it is not sending at all. I've had different periods of success, where it'll work for a week, then back to the same ****. I've never rooted my phone, so it's a stock ROM issue that still remains.
always had issues sending MMS messages on roms other than stock when I was at home with my network extender...I kept messing with the APN settings last night... I changed the other thing to GSM and tried to connect to at & t towers.. after it failed only then it would have multiple choices of APN settings ..I have all the roaming options checked and the LTE/CDMA is checked...I've been able to send MMS messages with no problem now.

Just an update I'm on liquid smooth 4.2.2 and it automatically turns network data on if I have it off in order to receive/send mms. This is what I was looking for.

[Q] No data on straight talk

I tried all the setting I found online, still no data.
Got the new sim card yesterday - blue - tf64psimc4mb ($7)
Calling & texting works.
also not receiving mms
my issue is that I am using newer att sim and suddenly my speeds used to be LTE but more often than not are now indicating H or H+ and signal is weaker. started right before Thanksgiving thereabouts. I haven't even come close to the the 2.5 GB cap either.
How I fixed it..
Called straight talk, guy had me setup new apn again (same thing).
still didnt work. Then he did something (not sure what)
then he said turn off (not just restart) and turn back on.
Then it worked.
Hope this helps someone.
still can't receive mms
