Yea you can upgrade this way I believe but the build.prop edits need to be there, htc_jewel wont work, already tried. And I am sure someone will post a modded version sometime soon, but this way works for now.

Absolutely not.
So, I'm not following Pre-ROM instructions. Are you saying pick from the 3 roms you use? Then, you must re flash the entire ROM just to get this to work? That's a hell of a lot of hassle when I am sure we could just manually push to system/app and data/app. Wouldn't even need to flash GAPPS either.

You need to edit build.prop. If you dont do the first PRE-ROm instructions, the phone will not boot and you will have to reflash.
We have to leave our build.prop with the edited version? That won't cause some market incompatibilities?

It might* but I am not sure what that entail exactly. shouldnt be a major issue though.
Has anyone tried to edit it to the "d2spr" aka the Sprint GS3 since it is officially supported by Google?
Thanks, will give it a try.

I would if I didnt want to break my secure element. Not worth the risk changing it while its working. But if VaporCloud's method works with those, than if you would like to change it those values you can.
Works great to Update as well.
I did use this to update after originally installing via MoDaCo's zip. Just followed the instructions and updated instead of installed. No issues.
I even tried running it before the reboot stupidly, it said it was unsupported. Uninstalled, the update only, then went back into google wallet. It had me re-set up the account, no issues with secure element. Picked my passcode again and it gave me my balance on the google card. After updating again via the market I rebooted with the correct 'google nexus' device in the .prop and then ran it. Initialized and then ran perfectly. Was able to add my existing cards already in google wallet online.
Good Job and thanks for the write up!

I tried it that way and it worked. Haven't tried changing the build.prop back to Verizon values though.
Changed OP to use d2spr method since that device is closer to ours than the nexus.
There is a classes.dex file inside of the latest version of the wallet apk. I've been trying to modify it to change "d2spr" (one mention) to "d2vzw" and repackage/resign it. So far my resigned apk is refusing to install. Anyone more experienced in apk modifications care to give that a whirl?
Goal is to get a new apk that works on d2vzw without any build prop changes.

I think you broke your secure element. You're google wallet will no longer work. Ever, until someone figures it out.

Figured I'd post this guide in case anyone else wanted to do the same,
Instructions:
1 nandoid backup
2 download the attached .rar file
3 adb devices
4 adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk framework-res.apk
(make a backup copy of this file)
5 open the apk file with winrar
6 insert the .png files that are in the attached rar file into the framework-res.apk's \res\drawable-hdpi folder
7 adb remount
8 adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/
9 adb reboot
For those looking for an easier way to do this you can make a flashable file here --> http://circle.glx.nl/
Oh wow! Can you do that with the Blacy emotes?
trying!
@martijua i just tried it and let see if it worked. rebooting now!!!!
It worked great!!
@GENEius what are blacy emotes?
Update i saw the" blacky emotes" and i would say yes you can if you had all the icons the right sizes
I decided to try other icons and i found out that....
- nandroid backup is a must just in case you mess anything up!
- If it is not the right size 24 x 24 px it will show a blank space instead of an icon.
-While doing this process you will see a FC error but that's ok just adb reboot
POSSIBLE CAUSES FOR FC ERRORS!
- If you do not adb pull before you abd push.
- Receiving a text while trying this out.
Not 100% sure because both of these things happend within the same try!
-I noticed that i actually put >PNG instead of .png and that may have been the problem.
NOW IT"S WORKING WILL UPDATE WITH A IMAGE!
SINCE I AM ACTUALLY DOING A LOT FOR THIS AND WILL TRY TO DO MORE I WILL CREATE MY OWN POST!

Hm. I can use any pixel size. HTC Evo 4G seems to support most (I'm on 40x40 now). Using kawaii kitty faces from MSN :3
Anyway of doing this with APK Manager? Or NinjaMorph?

well....use root explorer, navigate to system/app and extract the framework, replace the emoticons, and copy-paste the mms app back where it came from
Reboot
you're done
thank you
These are awesome thank u!
Just wanted to add my testimony.
This works, but it will remove all your accounts from the Accounts section, thus removing you contacts, and resetting your wallpaper, and probably other personal settings.
However, setting them back was easy, and re-adding the account was also easy. Got all my contacts back and so on.
Thanks martijua!

ATM I don't have time to deal with missing stuff and restoring them back
P.S. Which way of those two mentioned exactly leads to losing some data? ADB or RootExplorer way?

Guys I tried this without any success
Vibrant ROM = Bionix
Galaxy S 4G ROM = KD1 Deodexed (CWM Ready)
1. I decompiled, swapped many lines in Environment.smali (only file where I saw differences)
2. Re-compiled them into new classes.dex files
3. Removed old classes.dex file from each of the four files (services.jar, framework.jar, settings.apk and android_policy.jar)
Note on step 3 - I don't know why I had to do this for the other 3 files if the Environment.smali in framework.jar was the only file that apparently needed modification...but I moved on
4. Moved over (copy and paste) all the wifi files, modem & kernel
5. Finally, compiled the updated Vibrant ROM into a new ZIP file
6. Used Amend2Edify to sign the zip
Now, when I tried to flash this, it hangs at "Mounting mount point" for a minute or two, then it goes through a flash process...it eventually finishes with no errors, I clear cache and reboot the phone....the phone loops at the "Samsung Galaxy S 4G" screen (initial screen when powering on device).........and it sits there forever, never boots into anything.
Now when I was making edits in the Environment.smali, there were some entries for the sd card with subdirectory attached (otg_disk)...I changed from /mnt/sdcard/otg_disk to /mnt/sd/external_sd/otg_disk
I followed through each step carefully, I even downloaded an app that scans files within a provided directory for certain text, I scanned all the other files besides framework.jar for "INTERNAL" and it did not find anything pertaining to INTERNAL_STORAGE.....
Here is a screenshot of some more "INTERNAL" stuff I found..particularly in MediaScanner.smali

Well, after the additional edits, still getting frozen at the initial "Galaxy S 4G" screen.
I don't know why, but it really hangs for awhile at "Mounting mount points..." during the beginning of the flash in CWM. Could this be a mount issue still??
Ugh...glad I did a nandroid backup this time..

Here is the link for the newest Market, Version 3.3.12. It brings a lot of new options, just like the previous version, like All Apps Auto-Update, or update only by WiFi. I've confirmed that I can purchase apps, and this (edit: should) install over your existing Market with no issues.
Market 3.3.12
This link was pulled from Android Police, so head to their site if you want more details.
Tip: Clear data on the new market before opening it. This seems to resolve some Force Close issues for some.
If a direct install didn't work, here's a work around process:
1. Download the file from above ( Market-3.3.12.apk) to your SD card.
2. In Root Explorer, find the file you just downloaded and copy it.
3. Move it to /system/app and hit the R/W button to enable writing privileges, then paste the file.
4. Find Vending.apk and rename it to something like Vending.apk1.
5. Long press on Market-3.3.12.apk and rename it to Vending.apk.
6. Afterwards, long press on it again and choose“"Permissions".”
7. Change the permissions to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
8. Press“"OK", reboot your phone, and enjoy the new market.
For Apps not showing in Market, do the following:
While in Titanium Backup, press Menu, Market Tools, then Market Doctor. Select the Apps you want to reconnect to the Market.
Alternatively, you can search for the App in Market, then simply Uninstall, then Reinstall. You can then restore the App data with TB.

THanks it works!
Installed on my Atrix running CM7 Ba2tF and I got a boot loop. I didn't make a nandroid backup because I thought the worse that could happen was it not working properly and that I could just revert back. I made a nandroid backup, copied it to my computer, then undid the steps (Deleted Vending.apk and Renamed Vending.apk1 to Vending.apk), then copied the new system.ext4.tart md5 hash to nandroid.md5, copied it to the sdcard and tried restoring it, that didn't work either so I tried wiping the cache, dalvik cache, and fixing permissions. None of that worked so it looks like I have to re-flash my phone now.
I don't know what's causing the boot loop but you should make a nandroid backup before you do this just in case.
Works just fine.

But I noticed, that with your backup the icons are smaller. Where did you change this?

Restore your phone with a factory image should resolve your issue. Dont know why you face it.

If you used the zip file, I know, it's a bug i can't fix. Seems to be related to java but dont know.
Has anyone converted a user app to system? I would assume if I move this folder and set permissions.. It would work.... Right?

Hello all! Apologies ahead of time if this post is in the wrong area or breaks any rules!
I currently have a short batch script that can offline root/unroot (including SuperSU install), install GAPPS, toggle Lockscreen ads, and perform many other tweaks in a few short motions. I've tested it on several HD 10 tablets that I own and it has made life easy. After doing a bit of searching I noticed that most of the root guides use Kingoroot (which does some shady operations) or are instructions that I've automated to increase speed and decrease typos / errors.
Would anyone be interested in a polished version of my KFHD10 Multitool? I will gladly release my tools if there is demand for them! I just wanted to ask before I spent the time making a nice interface and adding options to my existing script.

I've been working on a similar zip. A tool would probably be easier. Has activating location services been a problem? I've found it to be less of an issue if flashing a zip because Amazon removed com.google.android.gms from the framework. The zip I made replaces the framework with my modded one, that replaces com.google.android.gms.
I haven't played with Location Services just yet. The script I have can root, unroot, install Play Store/Services, swap the launcher, and toggle lockscreen ads. I plan on adding more tweaks as I go.
I've spent the last hour or so rooting and unrooting just to test the success rate, and it's doing very well!

I have a fix or two to do in my framework mod. It's version specific, but I can make one for a few versions. If it's a root tool, it would be useful to add and be installed after the play store etc. It just requires location services be turned on before either the play store apps or framework is installed.

Hey! If you're offering to add some functionality and collaborate, I'm 100% down with that. Send me a PM with the details of what you have and I'll see how I can fit it into the AIO utility. I'm sure I'm missing some neat options.
Yes, please!
Ill test it please

Is this a modded framework or the unmodified version? The version I have is older and unmodified but installs and works just fine. I haven't played with all of the settings yet, though.

I'd gladly let everyone test it out but I'm trying to perfect the auto-root script. I can easily root - that isn't the issue. The issue is the way that the Kindle doesn't prompt for SU requests. You can work around this by changing the default setting in SuperSU to "Grant" but I'm attempting to automate this process. I've gotten it automated by sending touch commands to the device to change the prompt setting but I'd much rather just change the setting manually.
I'm not 100% sure if this will work but I'm trying to:
1. Root using the exploit script (here, thanks retyre)
This works fine. 80% of the time, it quickly roots the device and I can get the SU prompt just fine. I'm able to run about one or two SU commands before anything stops working. Root + SuperSU + Manually setting the prompt config to "Grant" works 100% - obtaining root isn't the issue.
2. Upload a pre-modified SuperSU preferences file
Instead of editing the settings - we might be able to just upload the preferences XML file to the SuperSU data folder before installing SuperSU itself. That way we already have the "Prompt" setting switched to "Grant". We then change the permissions so that SuperSU doesn't modify this file when it is installed.
3. Revert permissions so that edits can be made to the settings in the SuperSU app
I would of course need to change the permissions of the SuperSU preferences XML back to the normal settings so that SuperSU can make changes to it again. This way adjustments in the app actually stick.
----
After running the root exploit script I can get a SU prompt (#) and run a command. I'm not installing SuperSU until the script makes the modification to the preferences file, but as soon as I try to run another SU command after the first - it hangs and everything stops working . I end up having to restart the tablet by holding the power button and I'm unable to get a SU prompt again without installing SuperSU and changing the setting to "Grant".
I think there is a way to make it work but I'm still digging into it. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to listen!
