Really annoying problem with jelly bean keyboard!!! - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I want to save a word in dictionary it always gives this pop up to confirm it. How do I turn this thing off?
In GB and ICS all you have to do was "click again" on the word to save in dictionary but now it gives this pop up after clicking again it's hugely annoying. I have looked in the options but didnt find anything how can I get rid of this?

Yeap....I wanna know if we can disable this also....really annoying!! Haven't found an option to remove this.

Wouldn't it send you off to the keyboard settings to save new words in the past?

brainmaster disable it on ics here

No man just a simple double click right there above the keyboard.

In ICS if you click on the word from among the 3 words above the keyboard then it wont give a pop up so it really wasnt a problem in ICS.

This is a new feature in JB, and yes, I miss the ICS way where clicking on the word choices at the bar above the keyboard will already save the word in your personal dictionary. I think implementing that popup is just redundant IMHO.

Working great for me on 2.1 Darch Legend V.5.
You need to install the .apk, then go into settings >> keyboard >> enable swiftkey
Next you need to go into swiftkey settings and download a language pack.
After all that, long press on a text entry box and select SwiftText.
So far it is pretty great at predicting what I am about to type in 2 letters or so. I love Swype..but I am willing to give this a try for awhile.

I have not had any problems using it on DamageRegaw ROM. I think I downloaded straight to phone from the email link I received and then just installed using ES file explorer.
I hope that helps. Word prediction on this keyboard is interesting.

Look in settings >> language and keyboard >> and then under the sub-heading "Text Settings" there is a selection box next to the name "Swift Key". This is the same menu that you get into the Swift Key settings at (the check box is not within the Swift Key settings).

Keyboard that tries to predict what you are going to type. I like it better than the stock keyboard, but I am much faster on Swype.

thats just it there is no box to enable it. nor is there one for the stock android one or the htc keyboard. they are all lined up but no enable. tried to reset after i installed and phone locked up so dont think it will work on dc v2 or maybe its just the damagetrev im running which is a faster version of dc v2
Eh, its better then stock, but once you try swype, its hard to type with anything else. If only swype had the voice thing like stock android, that would be awesome
OMFG!!! that looks awesome. so here's the question, if i want it how hard is it to try and then if i don't like it how hard to get rid of it?

I'm faster with Swype than a physical keyboard. I have installed it for two G1 owners recently after they got a hold of my phone.
No problems with darchlegendv5 I tested by just pushing space and if typed this " up to the business of Parity shall be liable for the use of the individual or entity to which it is a bit of a man they are trying to trace in connection with the word. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person. I am a beautiful person." Exactly what I wanted to type. Crazy smart keyboard, but I think it's pretty nice thus far just a little slow.

Swyped from my HTC Sensation Pyramid using my thumb and eyes
I tried both. i even uninstalled, cleared all swype data & tried that, no dice. charging phone now to do a hard reset & see if that works
Just did a hard reset & still getting this stupid bug.
For me to add a new word that doesn't exists, I first have to manually type it and select it on the word suggestion bard (because auto correct will try to suggest a "correct" word). After I select the word, the option to "add <word> to dictionary" will appear for me on the word suggestion bar and pressing it will add it to the dictionary (Somewhat like stock gingerbread keyboard).
yeah I do that & it says that it added the word, yet when I reswipe it it's not added. I can do this 10 times in a row & it still won't stick
So I'm apparently an idiot & my Swype does work. I was under the impression that when it said 'Add "xnifex" to the dictionary' it was notifying me that that's what it was doing. I wasn't aware that you had to tap that notification for it to work. On the HD2 if you manually type in a word it's automatically added to the dictionary so I thought it was the same behavior. Yay for the swype team helping me out.

Did you actually clicked on "add <word> to dictionary"? Unlike on Froyo, where Swype saves a word after hitting space, now the users have to confirm the action by clicking on the right above the keyboard.

Swyped from my HTC Sensation Pyramid using my thumb and eyes
I'd just like to add that I had this problem, I was tapping to add to dictionary and there were literally no words in the dictionary, it was basically a tap keyboard. I uninstalled with Titanium Backup, then installed the Full version instead of the English/Other language one. This one has a dictionary and will save new words to it.
Thanks guys, I learned something new today;-)
Swyped from HTC Pyramid, using XDA Premium App.
I just want to say that I had the exact same issue as the OP. I thought that it was automatically adding the words to the dictionary, but some bug prevented them from appearing or something. I just wasn't clicking the "Add "word" to dictionary".
To be fair, it's not very clear on the UI that it's something that you can or should press. It doesn't have a question mark at the end, which would make you realise that it's ASKING you something, not telling you something.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Swype is the best. My only problem is the word bar above the keyboard. I find it distracting, and hard to get used to. I've looked everywhere trying to find a way to turn it off. Besides that, swype is 1,000x better than what comes with the sensation.

Skyrocket User Dictionary

Simple but....
So, I've accidentally added lots of silly words to my user dictionary from typing too fast or whatever.
I want to edit my user dictionary to remove them, like I used to with my old Android. I would go into the Settings > Keyboard and find the "edit user dictionary" part.
I cannot find it for the Skyrocket! Does anyone know where it is?
Thanks so much in advance!
If you are using stock input you can pull the .apk out of one of the stock roms, email it to yourself, and just reinstall. I did that with swype after a bunch of annoying wrong predictive words.

Aw. So there is no Android GUI for doing this?
There is surely a way to do this on the phone without loosing all of the words I have added that I actually want in there. Anyone??
There was until gingerbread. I could be wrong.
Dload ics keyboard and ics dictionary from the market. Use it. There may be also an add on in the market that adds the dictionary for the Samsung keyboard

Keyboard notification! I hate it

I enjoy using the Google keyboard but hate that if I want to use Spanish on it, I have to deal with the dreaded keyboard notification. If only comes on if I use different t input languages under the Google keyboard settings.
My question is, can I get rid of it and still use both languages? Un-rooted that is. I don't understand why it has to be there when you can switch by using the space bar or the language change button! In the past I've just dealt with it. But I really would love not to with the N5

What do you mean? I use Dutch and English as keyboard languages but I don't get any 'dreaded keyboard notification'.
If I use anything else but this setting, the keyboard input switcher pops up on my notification bar every time I use the keyboard if I select English and Spanish it pops up. If I have it like this it doesn't, but then I can't hold down the space bar and switch to Spanish.

This has been plaguing me since even the M7. It drives me absolutely nuts and I have not yet found any fix for it -_-
To delete a word, in the keyboard's settings, select "personal dictionary". Then press on the menu dots in the upper right corner of the screen. Select delete from the menu. This will take you to another screen. Find the word you want to get rid of and put checkmark to the right of it. Then press delete at the bottom right of the page. Should get the job done for you.

Glad it's not just me having this problem...
I had to look up what this word meant. Apparently abt means "all but dissertation," for someone going for a PHD. That being said I don't think this should be default in a dictionary either.
It can be done easily once proper root is available.
In fact, I usually replace the stock dictionary with a better third party one.

the OP doesn't want this. what he wants to do is remove a word that is built-in to the keyboard before ever typing your first word.
say like you swipe or type the word 'hell' the predictive text will show you 'hell' ' he'll' and 'help'. what the OP wants to do is remove one of the three is predicts.
in his case he types/swipes the word 'and' and he gets 'abd' instead. he has mentioned he checked where you suggested and it is not a word he has saved or accidentally saved, but a built-in word
it took me a few reads to get what he was wanting, but i finally understood it all. then i cam across the module in my previous post which seems exactly as to what he wants. hopefully it helps

donwoad and install from there
its pretty simple once you use it a few times, here is a quickie:
download and install xposed
open xposed
choose framework and click install/update
itll ask you to update, choose yes and do the soft reboot
after you rebooted
open xposed
choose downloads and find whatever module you think will come in handy (some are only compatible with certain devices)
download the module and it will say its not activated
back up and go to modules, select it to activate it (you can touch the module to adjust any settings if there are any)
do a soft reboot and the module will start working
