I just wish Google would be a little more transparent on these matters. I have been hearing about majel for so long now and I suppose I should have figured that it would be for ICS or above, but to find that it is just for JellyBean really sucks. Their website says that it is "currently" only for 4.1 . Does that mean it will be made available for older OS's? Is this being done just to sell more new phones? Come on Google, just tell us what your plans are.
its most likely for 4.1 only...
even though it has already been ported to 4.0 and its semi working on my galaxy sii.
I cant wait to get 4.1, working google now, working offline voice recognition and it working in my language (dutch)
We can't port all JB goods to ICS or GB Because of kernel.

Not possible.......the base system is very different.....we haven't even been able to port the stuff for ICS to GB so JB is far off

If any of you remember the early days of Android, Google did the same thing once before. When the original Droid was launched, it was the first Eclair device and launched with Maps Navigation. All those of us with the G1 (or other devices running Donut) were left drooling and wondering why Navigation was a 2.0 exclusive feature. Then, a month or two later, the update was added to the Market for us all. And there was much rejoicing.
Soooooo...here's hoping they do the same with Now. Maybe it's 4.1 only for now so they can iron out bugs? Who knows. But they seem really determined to make Now a hit, so it wouldn't surprise me to see it eventually released for older OS versions.
Lol google can be ported to ics and it's fully working! I had tested it with a custom rom on the x10i

Complete google now with user tracking is something special, not so easy, but I wonder if there is at least chance to get new voice search on GB? The "Siri replacement"

Try Maluuba from the Play Store or utter!. Maluube has more of a Now feel and utter! is more for device control. I use both (Maluuba much, much more) on Gingerbread and they are both extremely fast. They beat out S*** on the i***** in both number of functions and speed. Both are reliable. Enjoy!

Hey working Google Now is part of most of the custom ROMs ..
I am currently using Dream X3 and its working perfectly ...

If your on Gingerbread, I think it's worth it to upgrade to JB if any developers support your rom. You'll probably see major deferences in ways such as battery life, UI Beauty, etc..

But unfortunatelly none of this actually work. Can not even trigger utter to listen my command.
This is either a problem with user setting configuration, or is due to the fact that the application is still in beta. Try messing. With the settings. The way it is normally triggered is by holding the search key down.
And maluuba pretty much never has problems... Trouble shoot a little and try to figure it out. I'd like to help, just I don't have enough info to go off of to help.

Does Gnow work with multi G.accts?
Either I'm just plain dumb and really can't figure out the search method, or they're just hard to find, but are there inverted gapps for the latest TW JB leaks? I looked at JusTuns thread, but they say the don't work on TW...
Any help would be appreciated!

There was a thread in either Q&A or General about a week ago and people were talking about them and trying to find out if there are any. Last I checked there was never a link to any in that thread, but you could also look on Rootz. There are a few different sets of inverted apps on there but I don't know if any are for TW.

I use dark horse inverted gnow, gmail, and play store on beans build 2 and they work great. Really well themed inverted apps. You can find them in d2vzw themes and apps !

As y'all know, after upgrade to official ICS on the atrix, there is no "contacts" tab in the dialer like GB stock dialer had. (No, i don't seem to find a 3rd party dialer app like stock GB one.)
I see that there is a modded dialer with contact's for Samgun's ICS.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326674&page=19
Can I request the experts here create one like this for Atrix's official ICS release? :fingers-crossed:
My wife and I would also love to see this model.
Sent from my MB865 using xda app-developers app
I don't know if this is just with CM10, but if you click the "head and shoulders" tab in the dialer, you can scroll down past the favorites and see ALL your contacts.
Again I'm not sure if this is just a CM10 feature. But maybe it could help..
Edit: also for future reference, all Questions go in the Q&A section.

the asiaretail Phone app had a contacts tab.. i have the odex and apk for it if someone wants to deodex and try ..
also in the Numa rom which is at&t ota ics based, the phone app has a search button on the centre bottom of recent and favorite tabs.. that gives you access to the phonebook.. maybe its there on stock ics too..
Search button brings contacts up in dialer...don't know if ya knew but if not, now ya do lol. Edit: didn't see ya mentioned that lol. But yes, stock does same with search button. Brings people app up.

The title itself tells what my question is. Currently I am using Rashed's JB 4.1.2 ROM. But this issue has been present since ICS.
The compass mode on Google Maps should give you an eagle eye view on screen, that should always point upwards and rotate as we change our direction.
But it doesn't happen. I read on other sites that it was a mistake from Google and has been fixed in version 6.10.10. I am using the latest version 6.14.x and still that problem exists.
Someone please provide any solution to this...
I love using Maps.
Thanks in advance

I'm wondering just in case GB starts to lose support from app developers. I'd like to know if ics is 100% stable at this point, and all features work. I'm all about stability and having everything work the way it was intended.
Bling is cool, as long as it doesn't introduce glitches and hitches.
Ummmm....ICS is pretty dead I dont know if anyone still uses it.....JB is more stable now I have no issues with any app

Only issue with both ics and jb on the infuse is camera stuttering on video recording...actually ics may have a couple mote bugs

Well, GB is pretty dead too, according to some here. But at least it's 100% stable. (at least the revenant rom is) But after perusing the JB threads, it would seem that there are still issues to be ironed out. It may be "good enough" for some, but good enough is not good enough for me.
I guess it looks like I'll be staying with GB for as long as possible. The only reason I upgraded to GB was because some apps no longer work on Froyo.
If you actually flash a Jb ROM I'm willing to bet you won't find something you use daily that has any issues I'm using carbon nightly and I don't have any issues....honestly GB doesn't have really any features I couldn't be on GB anymore

OK, please elaborate more. On JB, does flash work? GPS? And what go you mean GB doesn't have any features? I mean, GB works 100% as far as apps and functionality so I'm confused. It does what I ask it to. What would JB give me that GB doesn't? Are you talking about bells and whistles?

I still use GB. I would not describe myself as a heavy user though. I use the phone mostly for the call, text and camera function.
I like my gmail, calendar and contacts sync'ed.
I don't have all the fb, twitter etc
When I tested out JB, I found a few things I liked:
1. gtalk updated better.
2. gmail had other options. Scrollable widget. Calendar had scrollable widget also. Calendar has more detailed display
3. Chrome worked. Native Browser was better.
4. Google body (now defunct-ed) worked..it needed a 3.0+ platform.
5. I don't use it but others like the theme engine.
6. The weather update on the lock screen was a nice touch.
7. The quick launch from the lock screen was neat...although I don't usually use the lock screen.
8. Back up and restore apps is more comprehensive.
9. Google Now and Google Keep is neat to try.
There were others but I forget...
For my phone, I still like the simpler GB interface and the battery life (less processes running means less battery usage)
fwiw, Entropy said his cm9 was stable..and "dead" too. Supposedly he had a more updated one but never release. Supposedly, aremo/he may have a different cm10?..I'm not sure though...
My final thoughts...to each his own...find something that you like...

Thanks for the info. I don't see anything on that list that is a must have though. Hopefully, GB will be supported by app devs until next spring when my contract is up. Carry on.
yeah..nothing must have..just interesting to test.
jb may be a step up in the most updated device designed to run it with support from chip set manufacturer. (ex: gn2, sgs3, sgs4)
for the most part, i prefer a tablet or pc...my phone is mostly a phone/digital assistant...but i suspect i'm a minority here

Well...unless it was fixed recently...camera is still wonky is it not? Stuttering with 720p recording...that's pretty major to a lot of people, although I myself can live with out it...it was a pretty major downside of jb/ics...on the occasion I wanted to get a video I really couldn't :/, but IMHO that one con doesn't weigh out the pros
But you can't say gb doesn't really have any features when they do have a fully working camera...just saying

But most people realize they're not going to be shooting hollywood movies with the thing. I'm not complaining though, it's good enough for what I need.
I thought ICS was the only version for the infuse with working full encryption?
I have 10GB of organized GB Roms/themes, ICS Roms/themes(lost files ), Tweaks for GB/ICS, all old recovery stuff, and 3 open source kernels Samsung had released. I have talked to 3-4 forum moderators for approval and I will be creating around 150 links for the infuse community for lost/broken links and there may/may not be broken but will all be on dev-host 4 u guys. I am hopping this will help u guys b4 I leave. I am hopping to make this post within the next week or 2 in the general section. Cheers
I am also going to be posting all the links to EVERY official post
Note* this is all I have left, I had a partition failure and I lost all I had but these files due to being on DropBox, I am still hopping to retrieve my missing files and Ken has been helping me all the way!=)
