Unlock code needed for Straight Talk? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

If I wanna use a Straight Talk sim do I have to unlock the phone first or will it just work?
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app

I think not, according to this.

Pretty sure ST just puts you on ATT, so you should be ok. If not you can get one online for around $5. Let everyone know how it works out please.

You can only purchase sim cards online just be sure to get the micro sim for AT&T. Your phone doesn't need to be unlocked either if its an AT&T phone. I'm running my One X on straight talk without problem.

Damn. I didn't wanna wait for it to be shipped. I was hoping to pick one up at a store. I wonder if Radio Shack or any other place that sells cellphones would have them.

On ST with at&t One X. No problem. You have to order the sim online no Radio Shack or any other locations.

I don't get it. Why don't more people use straight talk instead of carriers like att? $45 a month is A LOT cheaper than an att bill. Is there some sort of catch with straight talk. Like say for example someone gets an unlocked gsm Galaxy Nexus. It seems like a no-brainer to get straight talk, but yet some go with att. With straight talk being unlimited data, voice, and text for $45 a month with no contract, you would think more people would use it.

Not a lot of people know about it. I recently discovered it 4 months ago because people kept on saying to get it in forums but yeah its way cheaper and WAY BETTER service than Sprint. I used to pay 100+ for crappy reception and 3g that would kill my battery.

It does. It can also use verizon towers depending on your service area. They basically just sub-let the towers.
It's tracfone's semi-new service.

Just got my sim and activated it. Everything went great. Voice and data are working perfectly. Glad to be off of att.

Just wanted to confirm if you can use the Rogers HOX on att without att noticing as a smartphone. I am currently on a unlimited media net plan and want to use it on the same plan.

Tried and received a text from art. So the answer is no. You don't get lye with the medianet plan anyways. So I would highly recommend to upgrade your plan.

Yup all T-Mobile phones will work with their prepaid, just throw a sim in their that's pre-paid and it'll work.

Upgrading from Non-LTE Phone

Hi. I searched the forum but could not find a similar thread, so sorry if this has been covered in the past.
I currently have a ATT Galaxy S2 and I bought a HTC One X (ATT Version) on ebay that I should receive next week. The sim card I currently use in my GS2 is the 3g/LTE version and I know this because I have the original packing of the sim card and it says 3G/LTE. So when I get my One X I have to cut my sim card to fit the One X. Is this all I have to do since my sim card is LTE ready or do I have to contact ATT to change something in my data plan to LTE? Will my monthly rate increase because I'll be using LTE ( I think not, but just want confirmation)?
Thanks
You are probably going to have to change your plan to some late plan.
You need to call AT&T and add LTE to your account. There is no change.
Also, if you buy the phone from AT&T, it will include a micro SIM. No need to cut one.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda app-developers app
You will want to grab a new sim. If the sim card number does not match up as lte micro sim it won't let you add the lte plan on your account

I didn't have to buy a new sim to get the lte plan. I just cut my sim, called at&t and got lte added. They may have changed protocol or something, but I didn't need to.

The sims are the same. Just different size. If you go to a corporate store they are free. I work at one and we are always glad to to change a sim and make sure your plan is provisioned properly. (Was a big rooter/android fan since the g1 which inspired me to work for att)

They don't have unlimited everything anymore. Their mobile share plans are pretty good though. I'm on a mobile share plan with 3 other smartphones. It has 10GB of data and unlimited talk and text. That plan costs me about $235. No one else on the plan uses more than 1GB of data so I feel like mine is unlimited. Plus, the LTE in the Atlanta area is really fast.

LTE speeds also depend heavily on local traffic. When I first got my One X, I hit 25-30Mps routinely. Now, with a lot more LTE phones out there, I don't think I've gone over 20 in months.
