Rooting with stock ICS - HTC Sensation

With the recent release of Jelly Bean, I've been giving some thought on rooting. I grew old waiting on T-Mobile's Ice Cream Sandwich release and am afraid my device will never see Google's new update. My device is the HTC Sensation 4G running stock ICS 4.0.3 and was wondering if current methods of rooting would work on my device. Thank you.

I need help updating to ICS

I recently got a new HTC Sensation from a seller who unlocked it for me, so security was already turned off (S-OFF). I tried updating my phone using official HTC OTA updater, but a white triangle with a yellow exclamation mark appeared. I Googled it and apparently it means that my phone is rooted (which it isn't). So I rooted my phone using "su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip", and obviously I still cannot update.
I spent hours trying to find ways to update my phone manually, but I only found a bunch of dead links.
How can I update my phone to Android 4+
About phone:
Model: HTC-Z710a
Android version: 2.3.3
Software number: 1.35.666.1
Kernal: 2.6.35.10-g9cef70d

If you're phone is already rooted and s off why not use a custom Rom ? We have many ics or 4.0.3-4.0.4 roms. You you want a stock feel there are a few like that too !i found custom roms to be more stable than stock roms . If your soff and rooted just flash the ics firmware which is 3.32 or 3.33. Which ever of those two you choose and then flash your custom Rom. Then you will be running Android 4.0.3 or 4.0.4 ice cream sandwich or ics.why not go that route ? Or you can restore your device to stock, son and go that route. There is a guide for that also. But since you're rooted why not enjoy the customization that comes with being rooted and flash a custom Rom ? There are many great roms to choose from.

update question

im fairly new to the Android. been on a jailbroken iphone for years but was offered a free upgrade to the htc one s. after getting i saw a video showing off jelly bean. after a couple months of waiting for new gave up and rooted and installed the cyanogenmod 10 nightly. and then the following week tmobile released this new update 4.0.4 and sense 4.1. the cm10 works great and on my phone everything that i use works great..so really my question is should i go thru the trouble of trying to go back to stock to update or is the cm10 jelly bean better? please and thank you

Xyboards getting Jelly Bean
Looks like the Verizon Droid Xyboard 8 & 10 is getting Jelly Bean 4.1. As of yesterday, according to the Motorola Software Upgrade Time-line website. fyi

I am also hunting for a technique for rooting xyboard mz617 devices (I've got 10 of them I want to update to the latest they will support and they are stuck on Android 4.0.4).
Please update if you come across a good set of instructions / tools.
( also hunting on xoomforums.com )

Rooting XYBoard (MZ609) on Jellybean

I've got a Verizon XYBoard MZ609 that is updated with JellyBean and I've searched relentlessly for a way to root this thing.
I see the older posts on how to do it with Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich but nothing for JB.
I'm looking for advice from anyone that might have figured out a workaround to this.
Thanks in advance.

Xoom 3g - to jellybean or not

I recently picked up a Xoom that had been rooted. I took it back to stock with the help of the information I found here. I have been prompted for multiple OTA updates. I just finished installing ice cream sandwich.
My question is, if I install the jellybean update (4.1.2), will I still be able to install a custom Rom like Kitakat at a later date?
Thanks in advance.

I have two older Xooms that have been updated to 4.1.2 They both run fine, and I'm planning to up them (one at a time if all goes well) to 4.4.4 soon On of my was an original Chinese Xoom and it had to been hacked to get it to update the first time. But the other updated automatically all the way to 4.1.2 . I plan to use OmniRom 4.4.4 from schischu's OmniRom 4.4.4 thread.
