Downgrading from cm9 back to cm7 ? - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I'm currently on cm9 a10 and the games are very lag... I want to downgrade back to cm7/ GB, just wanna ask if the steps are right.
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Do a nandroid backup
3. Wipe Cache, data and dalvik cache
4. Flash cm7.zip
5. Reboot recovery
6. Wipe Cache, data and dalvik cache (just in case)
7. Flash cm7.zip again ( i heard without this step, there will be sync problems)
8. Flash gapps
9. Restore data only
10. Reboot
Right??
Sorry for this kind of questions, still a newbie to android

I haven't done this myself. But did move from CM9 to stock gb ddlf2.
I think you'll need to flash xxkpe along with repartitioning to go back to gb/cm7 from cm9.
Make sure you read more before moving further.

[Q] Full wipe with dalvik cache etc. on Stock Rom

Hi,
if the upgrade to ICS is available i want to do a full wipe with factory reset before.
How is the best way and in which order is best to do a full system cleansing with stock rom 2.3.6 installed.
First deletion of SD Card an than over the recovery menu resetting the rest?

I'm no expert but why would you delete the sdcard?
Root, install CWM recovery via rom manager. Select if you have 4g or not.
load rom onto root of the sdcard
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Flash rom
If you want to install a custom kernel instead of the one that comes with your rom of choice
After you flash the rom
Go back and rewipe dalvik
Then flash kernel
Reboot and enjoy

There's no point in wiping the dalvik twice, and instead of wiping the dalvik in CWM I'd use dalvik-wiper.zip by Morfic. Flashable zip, and it actually wipes the dalvik.
The rest is all good to the best of my knowledge.
Full wipe with GB stock rom before upgrade to ICS
Hi,
@polobunny
on the SD memory are two folders named .android_secure and Android where Android specific things are stored in. I have read that for a new and clean system build up would be good to delete this folders before.
@sookieball
I have only the normal stock rom 2.3.6 with stock recovery (no CWM) and want to stay there.
So then I think the best way is to go over the menu and do a reset to the factory settings. Delete the to folders on the SD memory manually and afterwards I will go into the recovery menu and delete the dalvik cache and then apply the ICS update.
Why i want to to this? I have at the moment a lot of useless Apps installed and i want to refresh all and start with a clean system with upgrading to ICS. Thats all.
Wherever you read that you should stop reading there.

[Q] Is there a complete stock AT&T Rom for 2.3.6?

I have looked on the site and cant find a complete stock rom for AT&T? If there is one can someone provide a link.
Thanks,
GJ

So I would just boot into CWM recovery and then install the zip?
1. Nandroid your current setup (so you get back to where you are now)
2. put all the zips you plan to flash on your sdcard
3. reboot to CWM Recovery
4. flash new modem (if you're planning on changing your modem)
5. wipe data / factory reset
6. wipe /cache partition
7. under "Mounts and Storage", Format /system
8. under "Advanced", wipe Dalvic Cache
9. flash rom zip
10. flash kernel zip (if not in rom above)
11. reboot
read through the DEV section under [ROM].. and read the OP (post 1)... each DEV gives recommended steps for flashing zip (CWM) or flashing tars (ODIN). You may also want to use Darkside Superwipe to ensure you clear all previous rom traces prior to flashing new rom.

Clean Installation of a new rom

Hi Guys, I wanted to know the steps for installing a custom rom via TWRP Recovery in a 100% clean way , I don't want any residue of old rom .
What's the best way to have a custom rom installed in the cleanest way ? (No old files no nothing)
I installed the rom cm11 doing this :
1 factory reset, 2 cache, 3 dalvik cache, 4 system ,5 data, 6 flash install rom and gapps , 7 before rebooting wipe cache and dalvik.
Well 1 does 2, 3 and 5 anyway.

just wipe data and flash your rom(and gapps). flashing a rom automatically wipes your cache and dalvik, so it does not need to get done again.
It's worth noting some roms updater-scripts will backup some elements in system and restore them during the flash (example slimkat) so a format of system may need to be done in some circumstances

Here:
1) Factory reset / wipe data
2) Format System
3) Flash ROM
If you are staying with same ROM dev, skip step 2.

Thanks for your help, sorry for disturbying I wanted to know are this folder essentials or can they be deleted?
Thanks
Personally, when I move to a new ROM I wipe everything. In TWRP under Wipe, I chose advanced and check everything. After, go back to the wipe menu and select the option on the right to format data. It will require you to type "yes" in the box. When it finishes, I reboot recovery, and use ADB Sideload to install my ROM of choice.
A few warnings, this wipes all data, so make sure anything you wish to save has been backed up. Also, make sure ADB is installed and working correctly as it will be your only way to get a custom ROM transferred to your phone.

That's a little over kill. I've never had a problem just using twrp's default swipe to wipe. You also must not use tibu and restore all your apps from Google

Yeah, no need to wipe internal SD.....at all.
Adb us unnecessary as well.
Download ROM on phone, flash from internal SD.

[Q] Noob Q: How to clean flash Gapps?

Hey guys!
I'm currently running latest version of CrDroid ROM and latest version of Gapps. Unfortunately, for whatever reason some apps on it just like to crash repeatedly (main culprit is Snapchat and Google Contact Sync). I was told I should do a clean flash of my Gapps then reinstall it and it should fix it but I think all I've been doing is a dirty flash of it...? All I've been doing is going to TWRP > Wipe > Wipe Date, Cache, Dalvik > Then I reinstall Gapps.
That's not a clean flash is it....? DO I need to root my OPO to clean flash anything?
Thanks for the help :I
Clean flash of Gapps ? You mean clean flash of the whole ROM
Go to TWRP and wipe system, data, cache, dalvik without internal storage to preserve your installation .zips
Then flash the ROM, Gapps and reboot to system :good:

Oh, gotcha! I was just missing one small step haha. Thank you

custom Rom install never works!

Hey guys,
General custom Rom question. Each time I install any custom, following the directions 100% it will never install properly. No matter what when I reboot back into TWRP it doesn't mount data.
Here's some instructions for an example from the latest one I tried Havok.
What am I doing wrong?
How to install
+ if you are coming from OOS then you will need to wipe your data as well as internal storage due to encrypted data but if you had any custom ROM before then just wipe data. No need to wipe internal storage.
for updating
1: Flash ROM
2: Flash TWRP installer
3: reboot again to recovery to boot from second slot.
4: Flash Gapps
5: Flash magisk
6: wipe dalvik cache and reboot to system.
That's all.
use tool all in one to decrypt internal storage
