If I backup my text messages from the app will I be able to restore them when I switch to an aosp rom?
Yeah just restore them in the same way you have done before

Backups made with the stock HTC messaging app probably won't be readable by the AOSP one or other third party messaging apps.
You might want to try a universal backup tool like SMS Backup & Restore from Play store.

Is there an app that can save the placement of my icons before flashing a new rom? Instead of having to resetup my app shortcuts after restoring from titanium backup after flashing a new rom.

Depends on the ROMs, if both ROMs have ADW then there are backup options in ADW. But I don't think you can with sense roms.
Giving "My Backup Root" a try since it has an option to backup system settings. I figure the worst it can do is cause some fc errors & I'll have to reflash & do it manually.

system settings are not the same as launcher settings. 99.99999% sure it will not work properly, if you are going from one rom to a completely different rom. if all you are doing is updating from version 1 to version 2 of the same rom, as long as the rom uses the same base, you dont have to wipe data, which means your launcher, apps, and settings will remain intact
depends on your launcher though as already suggested.
Greatly dependent on the Rom and Launcher. MIUI backup offers built in desktop backup. And something like Adw would also offer this within the settings. Im not familiar with antithetical launcher bit I would imagine many of them offer this.

You have two options use Gmail and backup with that or from nandroid and use an app like appextractor. If using Gmail go to settings on your phone and go to backup and restore and use your Gmail account.

Does anyone know of a backup app which will backup then restore all of my apps without having the install window popup for each one. I currently have titanium backup installed, but it is very tedious having to hit install for my 100+ apps.

Hi so I've had my HOX for a while and every single time I've flashed a sense ROM, and try to call someone, the dialer force closes. The same thing happens with texting. I was wondering how I could fix this. Thanks!

Sounds like something wrong with your flash.
Download rom, verify MD5
Use TWRP 2.3.3.1
Wipe flash, dalvik, system, factory reset
Flash rom.
Don't overclock or alter Voltages.
Should work fine.
I tried that and this isn't the first time this happened. Also my texting is working

So don't restore. It's restoring system apps that aren't compatible with the current rom.
Nvm didn't see the part about tibu.
TB restore on system apps doesn't work. It will cause problems. What you could do if that's your only back up.. move the dialer apk for /data/app and then restore the TB file. It should work without fc then.
System apps are specific to each ROM due to their cache. Therefore causing fcs

Trying a different ROM, one which did not come with messages, but Hangouts. I have titanium backup of messages.apk. Can I restore them to hangouts?
Or can someone post messages.apk ans i/s on how to install it.
thanks!
Should be the same data for both, so yes restored hangout.

Are you wanting to restore your messages to the Rom with hangouts as the defaults? Or are you ranging a separate sms app? I didn't like just hangouts as defaults so I got a zip for a separate default messaging that's native. I'm not sure I understood your question.
