messages apk or a way to restore back up in titanium to hangouts - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

hey guys need some help.
Trying a different ROM, one which did not come with messages, but Hangouts. I have titanium backup of messages.apk. Can I restore them to hangouts?
Or can someone post messages.apk ans i/s on how to install it.
thanks!

Should be the same data for both, so yes restored hangout.

Are you wanting to restore your messages to the Rom with hangouts as the defaults? Or are you ranging a separate sms app? I didn't like just hangouts as defaults so I got a zip for a separate default messaging that's native. I'm not sure I understood your question.

Nandroid restore breaks gmail sync?

Has anyone done a nandroid restore on their ns4g? I did it yesterday and a known functional backup had all kinds of problems with gmail sync -- couldn't send gmail from phone, messages deleted on phone weren't being deleted on server, unread count was off. Had to wipe user data and use titanium to restore apps and data.
Anyway wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if its an issue with cwm on our devices.
Btw was using the stock rooted rom and stock kernel.

Usually for that you just have to go to Menu >Manage apps > Gmail > Clear data. For next time.

Rooting my sisters phone

Hey guys I own a g2x and have it rooted and roms and such so I am comfortable with flashing recovery and roms but she is not rooted right now so how can I back up her contacts and apps. will titanium backup still work? Thanks

Contacts should be stored on the gmail account. If not then do that first.
To backup apps use a program called backup program and restore. Does not require root.
Also apps do backup on the Google account as well.

Messed up stock messaging app

On my epic 4g. Cyanogen mod 9. I installed chomp and uninstalled the stock messaging client. I was no longer getting messages so i restored the stock with titanium backup and now whenever i get a message it crashes. When i try to open the stock app to disable notifications it just tells me sorry messaging has stopped. I tried clearing cache and dalvik with no luck.

TB question update.zip

I created a update.zip using TB. I transferred the zip to my pc and was trying to figure out where my backed up sms would be. Just trying to learn, thanks.

Depends what ROM your running, if its touchwiz, it'll be under system/app and its named- Sec.MMS.apk, asop will be MMS.apk, unless your talking about the actual messages, if so, TB doesn't always save the data so u may not be able to gt the back up messages,

I am running TW, I made sure to save save app and user data. So if I replaced the mms apk I possibly could recover the messages? Worst case I get a FC and put original back?

Restore SMS messages?

Does anybody know how to restore old SMS messages from their old phone (a Nexus 4 btw) to my new nexus 5?
On your old N4
GOTO Play
Install 'SMS Backup+'
Backup SMS to your Gmail
Now install app on new N5
Restore SMS to new N5

yeah what he said... or 'sms backup and restore' works fine as well

weird. SMS back up and restore isn't working for me...
SMS Backup+ is a quite slow to backup so i'm still waiting to see if that work.
Titaniun Backup isn't working either.
Any other options guys?
did you use the latest version of sms backup and restore? cos it didn't work for me then they updated it and worked fine.
