[Bounty] Hold volume buttons while screen off to skip tracks - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I will pay someone $10 if they can make a flashable mod. All I want is to skip music tracks when the screen is off by holding the volume +/- button. We do not have lock screen music controls so this mod wuld be very useful for some people. If $10 isnt enough PM me and we can discuss. Help me out ppl lets get one of our great devs on this! Devs have made this mod for the Intl version of the phone but the .zip is rom specific. Im on Rooted stock vzw.

There are a few options for this, both PowerAmp & PlayerPro will give you lock screen controls.
The app headset buton will allow you to skip or go back using any headset controls.

Does he get the $10?

Most likely not since his way you have to do through the lockscreen. The guy wants to skip/switch songs with the volume keys and not through a lockscreen widget.

You linked him to a ROM, not a mod.
Anyway, @ TokedUp - I'm assuming you want the mod for stock ROMs such as the one you're running now and Synergy?

Yes Pure, Exactly. I have not flashed anything on my phone except Mad Industries ICS Blue WiFi toggles. I need this mod for STOCK Rooted. The Bounty is at $20 now since we had another member step up. I cannot guarantee the other guy will give the $ but I promise I will. If there is anything you can do for me Pure it will be greatly appreciated. Loved ur Roms on my now dead Inc btw.

I can confirm that CM10's music player Apollo does this.

we realize that, but that doesn't help most of us that are running the rooted stock ROMs because CM10 is way too buggy to be a daily driver (for me anyway)

Well shoot. I remember being able to do this on my Droid X. I can't remember what I used for the music player though.

Look up an app called Sensor Music Control. It's a little different than what the OP calls for, but it's cool. You can slap your phone in your pocket to skip the song. So it takes les effort than holding the volume buttons.

Well I have been trying to backwards engineer it, but it requires rewriting the windowphonemanager.smali file that is like 8000 lines long and located in android.policy.jar to make it happen. I also don't know smali very well so I am learning as I go. Its rough
Edit: I have been thinking about asking chingy to help me with it. See if he has any thoughts or can take a look. If he can figure it out I'd be happy to make sure everyone donates to him.

I'm not a developer, by any means, so I wouldn't be of help for a mod. I hope, in the meantime, you can make use of the sensor music player. I just switched to SynergyROM and I wasn't aware of the lack of lock screen control. That music player is now my default.
EDIT - Here's a link for it.

if your running cm7 or cm9 custom roms you will always be getting device not compatible for some reason. Other than that all i can think of is try this thread:

Vibration and Ringtone
I finally registered for the forum after months of leeching information and not helping anyone out. I know there are vibration and ringtone issues with the miui rom. with that said, i dont have enough posts to post on the developers forum. i have titanium back up on my phone and had frozen the themes app that comes with the rom. i then went in to the settings menu and tried to access the selection that allows you to pick your ringtone. however i found out that that part of the settings is dependent upon the themes app. i defrosted the themes app and then was able to pick a ringtone. i am not good at fixing technical things but thought that this could be related to the ringtone not working due to a dependency on the themes app.
not sure if anyone else noticed that. if nobody has could someone with more forum xp post this in the development section?

I'm tryng to get this working too...
So I was able to decompile the android.policy.odex that @serraxer modified for his mod like this for the razr m (4.1.1). I merged all of the changes he made (the ones i could find that is). I then recompiled and pushed it to my phone. It didnt work... I was able to get past the boot logo to the boot animation but that only lasted a few seconds at which time the screen when blank but was still running.
Ill look at it again this evening. Maybe serraxer could shed some light on how he accomplished it for the razr m.
This would be great. This feature doesn't exist on cm? I remember my galaxy nexus had this and it reminded me of blackberry. So great for when you are driving and need to skip tracks!
I am wondering and this may sound silly. Is this lack of a feature in any way related to wired headset buttons not working? That's a known issue for JB.

HERE you go. This is the decompiled android.policy.odex file from the razr m mod. The file that is def. modified is PhoneWindowManager.smali. In addition there are several other smali files that are added to make the mod work. PhoneWindowManager$VolumeLongPressF.smali and PhoneWindowManager$VolumeLongPressR.smali. I think that GlobalActions$10.smali is also apart of this mod.
Let me know what you come up with.

I only registered to being able to answer here as I'm really thankful for all the information I already got from this forum. So, it's sharing time:
My phone is unlocked and rooted. I Installed the xposed framework and tweakbox. Within tweakbox there's a miscellaneous tab and there you can find a checkbox for volume keys to skip tracks. Regular press changes volume, long press skips tracks.
Maybe this helps some one interested in adding this function. It works great and is especially helpful while driving.
try Frinky Music Controller https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=frinky.volumeKeys.music.controller&hl=en
supports more than 200 music player including spotify and soundcloud.
single press controls music , more than one click controls volume.
actually long press can not be detected in stock roms.
Enjoy if it works in your phone

[XPosed Mod] HiGoogle - "Hi Galaxy" phrase opens Google Now instead of S-Voice

[XPosed Mod] HiGoogle - "Hi Galaxy" phrase opens Google Now instead of S-Voice
I present to you: my first ever XPosed Mod HiGoogle!
It's really my first original android app. The first one I didn't follow some sort of tutorial to make anyways. It opens Google Now natively when you say "Hi Galaxy" instead of the crappy S-Voice app. It took me forever to get this done, but in the end I learned a ton about how both Android and XPosed work. :good: So w00t for me, :good: chalk that one up as a personal accomplishment.
Anyways, it still needs S-Voice to run. S-Voice is what controls the always listening feature of the phone. in the future I plan on changing that, and perhaps changing the trigger phrase as well (fingers crossed!) So while we can't get rid of S-Voice yet, this removes the need to use a middle-man app like tasker to open it, which in the end, makes things a hair faster (and $6 cheaper.) I think we can all agree that faster is better.
So while it's not the perfect solution yet, it's a move in the right direction and hopefully more will come of it.
This has only been tested on 2 Notes so far, a T-Mo and a VZW, but it should work on any Samsung with 'Hi Galaxy" always listening support. I'm personally on version 11.2.2.0 of S-Voice but I'm not sure if that matters. Report any issues or and I will try to deal with them as fast as I can.
It's not my fault if you break stuff.
:good: <------ Hit my donate button and buy me a bud if you like it!:good:
Here's the sauce: https://github.com/Bots/HiGoogle
Oh and thanks to user runnirr for helping me

No, currently it just opens Google Now over SVoice, as SVoice is what controls the service that listens for commands. I'll look into that though it's a good idea, I may be able to kill the app but leave the service running.
oh so sad so so sad... i thougth you are a magician and managed to change the Voice recognition phrase...The developer Skilllevel for that is like getting knox from 0x1 to 0x0....from what i've heard
There are already apps for your purposes. I use S for Switch Voice
But thank you very much for your developing and sharing. :good:
Instead you maybe could try to get the "OK Google" command working for German and every other language. Because when google fails with recognition you have to grab your phone and tap on the mic button or wait until the screen shuts down. It is only possible when Google now language is english. This is something which really annoyes...

That all depends. I found some type of file that looks like it might be some kind of a raw audio or a wav file possibly. I'm digging deeper into Samsung's code whenever I have time trying to understand what's going on. I'm gonna have to keep studying before I can get to that point, but I think that will be part of the natural progression of the updates to this app. Has Chainfire done any work on this?

No not that i've heard of. Today i recognized that the "Google Now launcher" works with "OK Google" in german. So maybe you can find something when making a code comparison to use the OK Google command no matter how your phone and or googles now language is...

As of now, overhead.
This mod will rid you of one extra service running on your phone compared to those other apps. If all you want is Google Now instead of S-Voice then this is probably the better solution. If you want a bunch more options, use one of those other apps. I have more plans for the future but I was super excited to release my first contribution to the community :victory:
I think is a great idea. I for one have been using an app called S for Switch Voice that overrides SVoice and launches Google Now. It works great and dont have any problems and doesn't cause much or at the very least battery drain. But im willing to try this.

Doesn't Work in Note 3 N900t 4.4.2
Doesn't Work in Note 3 N900t 4.4.2 when phone is unlocked. Nothing happens. It launches google now when the screen is off but you have to swipe to unlock to access google now. I disabled it. Good idea but it needs work.

I'll look into it I used an older method of wakelocking to try to get around that, but I guess it doesn't work for all. What version of android are you running?
Ah I was looking for something like this, but that was before I installed the S5 launcher
Now I get the best of both. This is a good mod for those who want the stock launcher though! Good work.
Well done... keep up the good work.

[Q] high volume warning

Any way to remove high volume warning when listening to music?
Nope. Gonna have to be a mod, either through xposed or custom rom

Is that built into Android now? My daughter's Moto X has a warning too.
If you use the xposed sense 6 mod that is posted here in the Verizon m8 threads it has the ability to remove that and it works fine on mine, haven't had any problems with it so far

No probs I hope it works out for you too
Worked perfectly thanks again!
This is the only thing left that is bugging me about this phone. I realize it's an Android issue not specifically the M8 but I HATE IT with a passion. Thanks I'm so glad to get rid of this craptastic warning.
Thank you!

This worked perfectly for me and was quite easy once I read the instructions to install the framework and the mod. Thank you very much!

The warning was bad enough. What really pissed me off is how it automatically lowered the volume after the warning. Then I would have to run the volume back up. I found the Sense Toolbox last week and haven't looked back.

Agreed. And to second you - the best part is how it leaves the damn volume where I left it. That was driving me nuts.
It's reasons like that why having xposed is a necessity for me.

My volume still drops down after every reboot. Installing xposed, and sense 6 toolbox I was able to disable the safe volume prompt.
Is there a file or anything I can mod to keep bluetooth volume maxed?
