Not sure if its bricked... - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody. Bought slider101 us... 8.6.5.18 Successfully rooted with Razorclaw. Superuser installed.
Didnt have a chance to flash CWR.
Tried to update through asus notification that i got on my tablet. At the end of update it said something like "failure to update",but it changed to 8.6.5.21 on my tablet. After that tried to install recovery through" recovery installer", couldnt do it. I guess I lost my root on my tablet because of that update and Razorclaw doesnt work with .21 I did try to fix it through ADB commands which led my tablet to non stop rebooting. Cant load a screen after ASUS logo. It keeps rebooting.
The last try was this Nvflash "Unbricking and forever root" but when I hit download batch file it disconnects me from computer and looks like APX is disapearing on Device Manager place.
Cant load to recovery cause didnt install it. Tried to find sollution ,no luck so far. im not sure if its bricked. Thanks for any help in advance.
Update: problem fixed-- somehow could get into the screen where i could wipe data, I think it was system kind of recovery. And then installed nachoroot, cwm recovery, android revolution super wipe and ROM. Works perfect!

I belive you're not supposed to update when rooted.

There are a few NVflash methods to unbrick devices here. You should read them all in general thread and development thread and see which one suit your slider101. And when you find one, please try different PC to do it. Some PC just act strange but some would give you profit..

Just for future reference, what steps did you take to fix it? It was my understanding that nvflash does not work for the Slider at all.

I think it wasnt really bricked, it just couldnt load main desktop screen. Its stucked on ASUS logo.I managed to get into system recovery screen where u can see "wipe data" and i think an image of droid man. So by pushing volume down and turning it on u can see that screen, and u need to point onto "wipe data" little green square by pushing volume up right after Ive read something like "cold boot" written with small white letters. And then it started to wipe all data. After that it could boot to the main desktop screen. From there I rooted with nachoroot since I have 8.65.21. Razorclaw can root up to I think .19.

[Q] G2x stuck at LG logo/cannot access recovery

Hey all
Before anyone mentions that i should be searching around more, i would like to say that i've been on multiple threads and they all state the same thing (use NVflash to flash CWM and then boot into CWM but the solution did not work for me past flashing CWM and then trying to access recovery after) and i wasn't able to find one that had a similar problem as mine.
I have CWM flashed through NVflash and was running CM7.1 RC1. I took a screenshot with the 'shootme' app and proceeded to look at the gallery to make sure it came out okay. The gallery crashed and i was sent to the home screen. I swiped to a different homescreen when my phone froze halfway through the transition to the next screen. No combination of buttons/long presses were able to get me out of it so i went ahead and did a battery pull. So my dilemma is that now i'm stuck at the LG boot logo with no blue status bar under it. It freezes there and will not do anything every time i boot up. volume down+power does not give me access to recovery nor does any other button combo get me past the LG boot logo.
Are there any other methods i might be able to use like ADB or what not to get myself out of this situation? or at least into recovery? Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as i've been searching for hours with little help and my eyes are starting to get strained.
hmmm.. I know it's a simple question, but I gotta ask.. are you holding the pwr and volume down button long enough? you have to keep holding it even after you see the LG screen.. Keep holding until you see the 2nd screen?
If so.. do the nvflash again? Edit: Not sure if I would do this without getting further guidance tho..

This. I remember when I boot looped my phone I had the problem of letting go of the volume key too early, you need to hold down volume and power from a totally powered off phone until recovery actually starts and you see the green "android" logo of CWM.
Try re-flashing CWM, NVFlash CAN fail. There is literally nothing you can do within the OS that will prevent recovery from working. Either you did something wrong somewhere along the recovery process or you discovered an entirely new problem with the phone. I'm going to hazard a guess and say it's the former.
Thanks for the response guys. I wish that it was the case of not holding the buttons long enough. I have tried numerous times with the buttons held down for a long period of time. I even held the combo down for almost 5 minutes a few times.
Every time i try to boot up, it won't go past the LG boot screen so i would pull the battery out and go through flashing CWM through NVflash again. I'm sure I'm not missing anything because everything goes through and gets sent to the phone successfully.
I did happen to run into a thread that was closely similar to mine but his method was to just keep reflashing CWM and the stock recovery back and forth every time it failed until it turned on. I might have to try that if i cannot figure out this problem out soon. Not being able to use this phone is killing me! heh.
I just joined your club. Wow this sucks.
So apparently this is a whole new problem that's been found? Every other help thread seems to point to using NVflash or remaking the partitions due to a bad flash using an O2x based file instead of G2x.
But none of those solutions come close to doing anything. There has been some people with the same problem as me but aren't proactive at all enough to get someone's attention, so i'm guessing this problem is getting pushed to the side with people just going about getting their phones replaces/buying new ones.
I did happen to run into a thread on paulobrien/modaco's forum that had people using NVflash to get out of any sticky situation like this. It just reverts everything back to the stock factory settings but with root. We cannot use this though because he hasn't built it to be compatible with our LGP999's because everything was built for their UK LGP990's. Maybe that's a start to getting this solution fixed?
I hate to say this, bit you might have to call t mobile and get a replacement. Flash back to stock recovery and they won't know you messed with anything.

Don't send back....you'll get same defacement a battery pull go into nvflah and go back stock then flash nv flash fix pArtitions
As I have mentioned before, NVflash does NOT give me access to my recovery let alone solve anything else. NVflash DOES work and does sucessfully send both CWM and the stock recovery but when I try to boot into either of them, let alone just power on normally, it simply DOES NOT go past the LG boot screen. it just hangs there doing nothing at all until I pull the battery out and do the same process over until it just hangs again.
while it is on/stuck at the LG screen, my computer does not recognize it so i cannot even try and run ADB commands. It does however, recognize it when I plug it in using the volume buttons held down when I use NVflash but there's nothing else I can do besides use NVflash obviously.

Did you ever find a solution to this issue? Because my phone is doing this...
I attempted to restore my phone back to the wrong backup that was from a galaxy sII (2.3.4 i think); needless to say, the restore failed. I then restarted my phone from CWM and it gets stuck at LG screen.
I have tried to NVflash back to stock; nothing. same thing reflashing back to CWM.
ideas?
have you tried this link out yet?

same problem..... anybody find something to fix this yet?
From what I heard is that you need to remove the battery, then boot into recovery or something.

Use smartflash for the p990 but only use the p999 ap.bin file which will put the rom and kernel back to stock p999.
Rom for recovery always fixes any soft brick back to stock 2.3.3 OTA. It's saved my phone multiple times from stuck on S/W screen to being stuck on lg logo or even the dreaded can't mount sdcard-cache errors in cwm.

I used the following method when Clockworkmod became corrupted and was unable to mount my sd card. I had just wiped everything on my phone intending to install a new rom when the issue happened. I could not even get to the S/W upgrade screen. It saved my phone. Hope it works for you.

Amazing how people are soo lost without providing them link after link to other threads. They are soo lazy and can't follow simple directions, each time i get a new phone i go to that section on xda and soak up all the information as it usually is already there. It's just funny is all i guess.

It's really not that big a deal. I was brand new to android once and asked all sorts of things.
I, like you, happen to read everything I can get my hands on. Some struggle going through all the info. I was here the day the forum opened, so I kind of remember where everything is.
Some are lazy and others just have no idea what the heck is going on and are intimidated by certain processes. I would rather help someone instead of listening to them ***** about their broken phone.

I think my lg g2x is bricked (im kind of a noob)

What i did before this problem
1.used the lg support tool to go from froyo to gingerbead (worked great)
2. attempted to use clockwork rom to install icecream sandwhich based rom (it failed)
What i get now
1.If i turn my phone on like i always would i would get the lg logo, and it would stay like that forever
2. if i try to boot into recovery i get "s/w upgrading"
I contacted lg and they said to send it in and wait 2 WEEKS to get it back and there may be an additional charge
Can someone please help me fix this without going to lg. I just want to be able to use my phone again :'(
run this:

I did the exact same thing to my phone the other day. Then install the new rom via clockworld after its done.
But if you installed the 2.3.4 then don't update to any rom besides the kwes 2.3.4 because anything else you won't have audio or anything while in call there is no fix for it yet besides using kdz to downgrade.

if you're unsure of the APX drivers set-up you have a more basic guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
Remove the battery.
Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
Right click on the APX device.
Select 'Update driver software'.
Select 'Browse my computer...'.
Select 'Let me pick...'.
Select 'Have disk'.
Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

I don't think you're booting the phone up into cwm the right way.
Lol do this:
Make sure phone is off. While the phone is off hold down the volume down button.
While still holding volume down, hold the power button.
Continue to hold BOTH the volume down and power buttons. When the SECOND LG logo appears, let go of both of the buttons.
And no offense, but if you're not comfortable with modding your phone... you really shouldn't do it or ask someone else who knows what they're doing to do it.

From my personal experiance with the G2x (i thought i had bricked my phone), i have discovered that it is nearly impossible to brick this phone. I had ran the g2x nullifier and fully wiped my phone clean. When I power up the phone, all i get is the initial white LG logo. Luckely, i discovered the following thread that got my phone functional again:

That script is perfectly fine and didn't hurt your phone at all. It states that it will wipe everything out even the rom you were previously on. So when the phone rebooted it stayed on that LG logo because it didn't have a rom to bootup.
At that point a quick battery pull and reboot into recovery was all you needed to do.

Try flashing the stock recovery thru the one click nvflash utility and leave it off for a few min. Then run the g2x batch cleanup tool and see if it then let's u boot into the recovery. (By holding down volume - when hitting power on)

Ok, so then its safe to assume that you rooted your phone first? Then you set up your phone by using nvflash so you can use ClockWorkMod (CWM)? Then booted your phone into recovery and tried to install ICS? If not done in this order then thats your fault. If you did it in this order then you missed something.
A common mistake is trying to install a ROM via CWM while the phone is running. When you do this the phone restarts and gives you the error triangle with android underneath it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039985 Tells you how to do as well as provides links to everything it doesn't.
As for recovery they provisded the right link. Follow it to the "T" and you'll be ok.

But the key issue was that CWM recovery was destroyed as well after nullifing thus leaving me in a stand still to do something. nvflash was the only thing left to recover the phone at that point which worked very well.
There is pretty much no way that after running either the One-Click or Cleanup Batch that he can't get the phone into CWM unless there is a hardware problem. This most likely means that the problem isn't with the scripts or phone, but with the procedure he is attempting.
Even if nullifier (which I don't think is of much use here) had wiped all partitions, the NVFlash will still pop you out of it and leave you with a working CWM.
So keep reading and keep watching videos of how to do it and make sure your drivers are correct. READ a bunch first.
And remember that he got here due to an LG software problem or issue with operation, not from trying to flash as a noob, so he knows he's in over his head right now.
Remember, we all had to start swimming somewhere and it usually wasn't pretty at first. Mine was a corrupted Motorola RAZR.
It appears that this is an older post, but if you are still having this issue, then maybe I can help. If anyone else finds this later, hopefully it helps them as well. I just did something similar and I thought I was screwed. I rooted my phone, installed a ROM (Hellfire... nice ROM BTW), then I got the nullifier. I installed the ROM before I ran the nullifier because I wanted to make sure the ROM worked. However, after running the nullifier, the ROM didn't work.
The only thing that I could get to show was the LG logo at the startup... no second logo (Blue LG), no SW upgrade... NOTHING. The phone wouldn't do anything else. Luckily, I wasn't the first to have this issue and they found the solution...
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566681
Since you have already done other steps, I am assuming that you already have the drivers installed. So, the only thing you should need to do is download the ROM then install it by clicking flash.bat. The instructions on the page are pretty easy to follow.
No need to deal with the NvFlash until AFTER you do the above procedure. You will need to run it again after the above procedure because it puts it back in the original state (pretty much). The NvFlash will give you the superuser and Clockmod back. You should be good to go after that.
There is no way u can brick the g2x......even if u wanted to.........keep messing around

[Q] No longer able to get into recovery mode.

Hi,
I have the Asus Eeepad transformer TF101, I've had it less then a year now, and when I got it, it had been refurbished. Today I had tried to root it, and that's where it all went wrong. The root managed to go through fine, but once I rebooted it, it would not get past the first screen "the eeepad" screen. So I managed to get into recovery mode and undo the root and get it back to factory settings. I once again rebooted and it worked fine...until I went to install the most recent firmware update... the installation fails, again booted it and its stuck at the first screen again. Did another system restore, and tried to upgrade it once more, just in case it hit a glitch or something. Same thing happens, error in the middle of installation and freezes at the screen. Again tried to restore... and this time I wasn't even able to get into the mode to restore... I get the android guy with the loading bar, then the next second I get the android guy with the warning sign with an "!" in the middle of it.... It won't even let me clear the data, it just sits there with the speaker popping every 5 seconds or so. I could really use some help.

Remove all installed drivers(including Asus sync and any other Asus software) and then download and install naked driver(link is available in easy flash thread).. now plug your tablet and when it asks for driver install naked driver... if it doesn't then go to device manager on your laptop and install from there... once this is done, press power button and volume up buttons together for 5 secs and that will take your tablet into APX mode... plug the tablet back, your laptop will install APX drivers then go back to device manager and right click on the unknown device and update/install driver( same naked driver).. once you have installed required drivers its just a matter of running easy flasher...

Does it actually get to the bootloader screen with the icons? If so then it is probably recoverable.
Sounds like you have a combination of wrong drivers on your PC and something got wiped on the device.
Have you seen Buster99's fixes here?

It does not get to the screen with the three icons. I freezes on the screen with the asus logo, and the wording in the up left of the screen. It says that it is booting to recovery. That's as far as it gets

And I ask you again - just as in the Minimal ADB Fastboot Tool thread:
Did you by any chance use ROM Manager for anything on your tablet?
My tablet is Micromax Funbook P310 with CWM. I Installed JETROM and booted but It freezes in Micromax logo.I tried to boot to Recovery mode but it either boots a Normal Boot and freezes or I goto a menu which i usually goto reboot in to recovery and it contains Fastboot,Recovery and Normal . I have tried all of three but each time the just goes blank and dosen't work even when press power button.I have my backup so i dont need roms. Plzzzzzzzzzzz help:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:

[Q] Stuck on ASUS logo

Hello everybody,
I hope that someone can give me some advise to get my tf300t up and running again. I wanted to install cm10.2 but I wanted to install CWM first.
I unlocked my device first with the unlock app v8 from asus.
I tried to install CWM the first time but it did not work.
I went back into recovery mode but I wasn't paying attention and pressed wipe userdata
Now my tf300t only shows the ASUS logo and the text that the device is unlocked. I can't get back in recovery mode anymore. Is there a way the restore it back to default?
I hope that someone can help me out.
Thank you in advance for your time and effort.
Regards

Can you get to the menu with the recovery options, boot android, USB, and wipe data? You can use fastboot from there.

If you cant get into there, you cant really use fastboot. Unless you made NvFlash Backups beforehand, I don't think there is much else you can do, since the recovery isn't working either.

I've spent a lot of time searching and it seems like that's it...
I'm on Asus screen, I can reboot it by either holding down pwr button until it reboots, or using reset switch with a paperclip. vol - does nothing, just reboots to asus screen...computer sees nothing. vol + goes into APX mode (blank screen)...computer detects with correct drivers. I've tried draining battery completely...disconnecting battery for a few days...same result.
If I had to speculate...maybe at some point someone will figure out how to use another's backup files and push them to the device in APX mode.
I've looked into replacing the motherboard...and have seen some for as low as 50$ on ebay. Personally, swapping them would be easy...but some may not have the caviler attitude with hardware swapping. Just gotta get the wife to agree to spend the $.
I'd die for a free fix, the kids really miss playing with the thing
