First of all, this is not my work. I only compiled it.
This is the usual ClockworkMod recovery, compiled from the CM7 sources with additions/modifications by j_r0dd. What I've done is only to compile it for the HTC Desire HD. For details, check out the link to j_r0dd's original thread for the Nexus S.
The credits go to Koush for the recovery itself and to j_r0dd for the modifications. I haven't been able to test it on the HTC Desire HD, since I don't own one.
j_r0dd said:
This is based on the latest CM7 source which I modified for myself. I take no credit for the recovery whatsoever, but I will take all the blame for my mods . We all know this is Koush's hard work. Just some things were driving me crazy personally. First was the confirmation menu. I really got sick of scrolling through all those "No"s just to flash something, so i changed it for me personally and just thought I would share. I also created a proper wipe menu. I got sick of some wipes in the main menu and the rest in the "advanced" menu. I made this more Amon_RA like. See the attached screenshot for my changes. That change has led to a few others by me. flash with fastboot or flash_image. THESE ARE NOT IN ROM MANAGER. Also if you have an issue with this take it up with me NOT Koush.

Disclaimer
These recoveries are compiled using the latest commits from koush, j_r0dd and others. That means they haven't been thoroughly tested and might have minor/major issues. I take no responsibility for any damages this thing might cause, but most things should work as intended. If you want something guaranteed to work, I think you should stick with one of the older versions.

Correct, because of a bug in the ClockworkMod 4.0.0.0 source code. Keep an older recovery handy if you're testing this.
You can get around the bug. Each time you get the error, you can "adb shell umount /sdcard" from your computer. It's annoying, and hopefully we can find a solution for it soon.

+1 on this Had to return to 3.2.0.0
I edited 4.0.0.2, adding j_r0dd's mods and compiled it. Works well on Nexus One and Nexus S. No more sdcard mounting bug, it's been fixed. Can't test it on any other models myself. Updated first post of this thread.

-USB RNDIS support (required by some third party tethering apps)
-Init.d script support
v5 Changlog:
-Fixed ffc
-Fixed tunneling support
-Added USB RNDIS support (required by some third party tethering apps)
v7 Changlog:
-Added Voodoo sound (ported to Community Kernel by the man himself, supercurio, so you know it's going to work as intended)
Note: Please donate to supercurio. He took time to port his work to the Infuse and he doesn't even have the device. If he sees a sudden influx of donations, he'll know you appreciate his work and will want to port his future projects to the Infuse as well.
v8 Changlog:
-Updated Voodoo sound driver (v10)
READ CAREFULLY
1) The first boot after installing this kernel will take a LONG time. It's converting your partitions from RFS to ext4.
2) Before flashing, make sure you have at least 20% battery remaining. The file system conversion will stop if your battery level falls below 10%.
3) Before flashing anything that includes the stock kernel you should disable Voodoo lagfix. The stock kernel can't read ext4 file systems and won't boot if you forget to disable the lagfix. See below for instructions.
How To Disable Voodoo Lagfix (2 Methods):
-Method 1: Create a file or folder named "disable-lagfix" in the Voodoo folder on your internal SD card and reboot.
-Method 2: Boot into CWM recovery and select "voodoo lagfix" > "disable lagfix" > "reboot system now".
Flashing Instructions:
1) Make sure the drivers for the Infuse 4G are installed (installing Kies is the best way to accomplish this)
2) Download and unzip Odin_Community_Kernel_vX.zip
3) Run Odin3 v1.7.exe as administrator
4) Place your phone into download mode (power off and then press and hold both volume buttons while plugging in the USB cable)
5) Make sure your phone shows up in Odin as COM##
6) Click the PDA button and choose PDA_Community_Kernel_vXX.tar.md5
8) Press Start

Get involved with development!
While I do have a computer engineering degree and work as a software engineer, I admittedly don't have much experience with kernel development. Thus I want this kernel to be a community project so we can all learn from each other. If there's something you want to change, just fork, make your changes, and send me a pull request. Hopefully you can also build and test your changes before sending the pull request, but if you don't have an Infuse at the moment I will understand.
I do this for fun so you shouldn't feel any obligation to donate, but here's a link if you want to. Donations of any amount are very much appreciated.

this is just the kernel, no need, its in 1.3.1. If you are running 1.3.0, you need to upgrade using the 1.3.0-1.3.1 upgrade odin flash. DO NOT use the 1.2.1-1.3.1 upgrade zip, it will brick you if you are on 1.3.0 and have lagfix enabled

I tried flashing refused and then the lagifx kernel from red cwm, and it froze on the samsung logo.. tried again, went into mounts and storage, tried formatting system, and it did it instantly, reflashed refused and lagfix again, still hung on the samsung logo....
Reflashed infused 1.3.1 at that point, watching the install, the format system portion of your installer script went extremely fast, nothing happened, it flashed, and booted that time. but nothing is getting formatted...
flashed back to stock, watched your install of infused 1.3.1 on green cwm, and the format system took considerably longer, actually doing it, and then it booted clean, and enabled lagfix... so something fishy is going on with red CWM...

Wiping system finishing fast just means your system partition was already empty. This is the expected behavior.
Regardless, I don't doubt that there could be some issues with red. We'll see if the kernel I post tomorrow fixes anything.
Also, not sure what h8rifts current updater-script looks like, but he may need to update it to be compatible with red CWM.
All stock and hacked kernel sources and ramdisks are now on my github.

Bionix flashed from red cwm is bricking too from infused 1.3.1... For the same reason... Its not wiping system
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
My red one works fine. I flashed bionix 1.2 which failed (still), so I wiped and reinstalled infused 1.3.1 full, it worked great. When you wipe do you select wipe data in cwm or just flash rom? Just flashing has never seemed to clear data for me. I always wipe data option in cwm. The only issue I see with cwm is rom manager not sending you into red, I deleted update.zip and rom manager stopped booting to cwm all together.

Hello,
I wasn't able to post a response in the Development forums yet, so please move this thread if you see fit and sorry as I'm still new to posting here.
------------------------------------------------------------------
I am using the original full leaked version of the ROM.
If you are having issues using ODIN to flash Dr. Honk's amazing new kernel: [http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194032] Or if you are having issues with not seeing your SD card after successfully flashing the kernel try the steps below:
If your having issues with ODIN, get Winrar and extract the zimage from the tar file and use heimdall and it should flash correctly. After you flash the kernel and boot up, you may notice your not seeing your SD card. Try going to recovery which you can now! Wipe your data<factory> then your Cache, then wipe your Dalvik Cache and use fix permissions. Reboot and you should now see your SD card, only catch to this kernel is Dr. Honk's forgot to add busybox, so I would go to the market and get it then you can also use Voodoo lag fix.
It's working great for me! Good Job Dr. Honk!
You would likely get a little more assistance if you would give more info (what room you're currently using; where you're stuck).
honestly, if you're having issues with this install you would probably do better to wait.

dont know if this helps or not but this is how i got mine working:
i flashed kg4 leak then did dsextons gb rom root,
then i installed busy box and installed on phone,
then flashed drhonks new kernal for kg4 (his new download works)
now everything works great in=m on ext 4 system cache and data and also have cwm recovery support
Thanks for the tips.
I tried all above, the SD shows right, but I still cannot have lagfix properly work and convert EXT4. Everytime system restart, it reports not enough space on SD card, but actually I have 14 GB available on my SD.
I did my flash exactly like jdubb. it worked flawlessly. Thanks drhonk for everything you do for us

Hunter, can you try this:
pop in an other micro sd, boot into CWM, format sd, enable voodoo ext4 and reboot.
if you don't have a spare one, backup files from the current sd card then proceed as above.

I was reviewing the source code of voodoo lagfix, just feel like the my sdcard available space is not properly read from lagfix code.
Not sure if you guys still using the factory SD card, I am using the 16GB one came with the phone.
Issues with SD card.
For those of you with issues on their SD card, did you by chance try enabling lagfix via Voodoo Control app? That is what I had to do to get lagfix working properly. I disabled it via recovery and then enabled it via control app. Somehow got it working that way lol.
Unable to answer inbound calls
The install went flawless and phone works great. I do have a major issue though, inbound calls are cause a force close and create an instand missed call. Is anyone else having issues being able to answer inbound calls? I can make calls just fine, it just refuses to let me answer a call.
I am currently running:
2.3.4 KG 6 with the 2.6.35.7 Kernal.
This worked great for me on kg4, but for some reason i flash this on kg6 and after the flash boots up fine. But whenever i restart my phone i get a boot loop at the samsung screen. So confused Any ideas?

I was getting the same thing when I turned on Voodoo so I went back to recovery to disable Voodoo (I had to use ADB since the phone wasn't functional long enough to use the Quickboot app).
Then (per crackpot in a dev thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16264528&postcount=222) booted back up and used the Busybox Installer from stericson to make sure Busybox was installed into bin and not xbin.
Then back to recovery and enable Voodoo.
I notice you guys don't seem to have one of these, I made one in the O2X dev section so as not to balls up the proper nightly thread, anyone else who likes to build, feel free to add to this thread.
I was asked to build this in lieu of a proper nightly, it contains all commits up to and including the OMAP4 touch to focus one.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/q0gx7iruh2qhguh/update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-G2x-KANG-signed.zip
MD5: e79a5c128bd72c50fa0735cc4551d80f
As this is now based on the EXT4 file system, you might want to convert /data and /cache to EXT4 as well, as they will remain EXT3 (but mounted as EXT4). This zip will sort that for you, although if you wipe cache, it will revert to EXT3 for some reason (at least on the O2X it does, so I'm assuming this is the same): http://www.mediafire.com/file/a9gor6o2b26co8r/p999-ext4.zip
DISCLAIMER:
I do not own a G2X, I have in no way tested this update, you might want to consider some sort of backup before flashing these, even if someone else has already done it and reported all is well.

I have used the converter and it works and there was no data loss or hiccups. To the above poster /cache is converted when flashing as long as you wiped it before hand. It will not convert partitions that have data in them.

Yeah that's my experience of my O2X's behaviour, the G2X might not do it. Someone test it, do a cache wipe and check the mounts while still in recovery (it will say EXT4 if you boot to CM7 regardless of what it actually is).
If it does revert to EXT3, you can use the zip again.
PS. There is no need to wipe cache or dalvik cache when flashing a new nightly or kang, it's hashes will be invalid and it gets regenerated anyway.

I was talking about flashing the utility that will convert to ext4. If we wipe cache will it revert the system as well as the data? Also theres another utility that will convert the data to ext4 in the other kang thread. Are they both the same?

Right, now I understand
No, /system won't be changed, just /cache.
The 'utilities' might be very similar, but I doubt they're the same, as I made this one.

What about the /data will that stay on ext4 or will it revert?
Wiping cache wont hurt it, and apparently wiping/factory reset from recovery (v5.0.2.0) will set it to EXT4, although I've not tested it.
FYI: This kang (and ext4 script) is working great for me so far. Thanks!

The idea is that anyone can add a build to this thread, so that if an interesting new commit pops up, and people don't want to wait, they post it here. I don't mind running off updated versions if necessary.
I was hoping to emulate the O2X version of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118091
We have two new commits that I don't think mean much for our phone, but once we get a couple more can we get a new kang pretty please with cherry on top .
Please lets quit talking about the other thread. Its gone and now we have a much nicer, friendlier, and less hostile thread. Lets just enjoy it!

Now, Rusty, where did you pull the kernel from? Also, any errors on pulling the CM source? My pull would eventually crap out even with -f and go nuts about android.git.kernel being down even though I edited the repo script.

I've had it crap out on me with -f as well, I used repo sync -f -j32 with success though, possibly doing 32 things at once helps with it.
As for the kernel, it comes with a prebuilt one as part of the sync (find it @ /devices/lge/p999/kernel), but if you want the source, create a new directory and git clone https://github.com/CyanogenMod/lge-kernel-star.git to download it. You can update it with git pull from then on.
Thread purged of useless posts.
A. For reasons stated in the OP the releases in this thread are NOT the same as Fitsnugly's kangs.
B. This thread is not the place to discuss Fitsnugly or his contributions to XDA and the Android community. This thread is for you to discuss Rusty's Unofficial CM7 Kangs.
C. Fitsnugly is/was a very valued contributor to the forums. He left because of whiny, "entitled" users who ignored his requests in his OPs. Anyone I see complaining about how he chose to leave will be met with a temporary ban.
Let's keep discussion in this thread on topic. This means Rusty's kangs ONLY.
Edit: Thanks herzzreh for the heads up on the post I missed.
You guys know the deal, post your questions here

kay, so far, I just found out the reboot to recovery still broken and you have to go to recovery by 3 buttons method and the camcorder issue erikmm has mentioned...other than that, there's nothing to complain about since it's like a sweet moonbeam now lol...I hate love you, Erikmm lol

Retire so soon eh ...maybe, some months after you retire then we'll have "Erikmm come back silently and more dangerous with Jellybean debut" lol ...you're rock anw man
Here's a question: does JoyOS's launcher support landscape? I ask it because MIUI's doesn't. I know I can install other launchers, that's not the point.
Also, if it does support landscape, does it have screen rotation animations, like CM7 has? Not that it's critical, but looks great.
What about themes by the way? Are there any? Or is it just iPhone-style and that's it?
Thank you in advance.
Blue recovery screen
flashed rom and now I'm stuck at rebooting to blue recovery screen. Tried to get to download mode to try the gremlin remover but goes back to blue. I flashed another rom but it still boots to blue. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Finally got it into download mode, will try to redownload the rom and try again

Same result blue screen and wont reboot. Not sure what is wrong
Brick0044....the only way I found to recover from that was the [odin+cwm] gb ext4 starter pack in the dev section by FBis251
That's if you decide you don't want to stick with that rom ....otherwise just reflash a few times and you will get it
@g4ry12: the launcher itself does not support landscape mode but in other apps or windows do and yeah, since Erikmm said it based on CM7.2 (completely then it has all CM7 features like themechooser, animations...there's a section for CM7 settings in Joyos settings) and by mention themes, it has themechooser, exactly from CM7 but the theme just affect the status bar, buttons,...blah blah, but not the icons and you can't change the icons except you know how to modify the launcher app...that's all
@BRICK0044: Just read the OP, the OP for CM7 (or the same as Miui-revenge) said that you can flash easily through these steps:
erikmm said:
1 .Download the following:
efs-backup link : efs-backup
efs-restore link : efs-restore
JoyOS rom*check md5 posted below download link*
2. Place those three files in root of your sd card
3. Backup data with Titanium Backup or whatever app you use (optional)
4. Reboot to recovery
5. Do a Nandroid Backup
6. Flash EFS-Backup
7. Backup sd card to your computer ( you can do this by going to mounts and storage
and mount USB storage, this way you wont leave recovery and the efs backup is in there too)
8. Flash JoyOS port (it will start then reboot itself into blue cwm)
9. Go to Mounts and Storage
10. Format System
11. Mount System
12. Go back to main menu
13. Wipe data/factory reset
14. Go into Install zip from sdcard
15. Choose zip from sdcard
16. Flash efs-restore
17. Flash JoyOS port
18. Reboot.
19. Let it sit for 10 mins or so.
20. Enjoy.

Remember to flash the efs-backup bfore you so anything else and first things after you wipe things, format system, mount system in the BLUE recovery is flash the efs-restore and follow those steps.
Anyway, those are things you should do after you solve your problem...And as you describe, seems like you were still on <3e> recorvery, you must do GR (got into download mode to do GR), if after GR, it's still blue and error, I think you can choose boot into system by press the power button once on that highlight option in the blue recovery and then, everything should be ok (as I experienced this before) and after you got into the stock rom, you can go to play store, download SGS kernel flasher and flash one of these Basic with a Twist SGS4G KJ6 Kernel and then follow those instruction below to flash JoyOS...
If that's not your case, I recommend you to do One-click Heimdall and after you got to the rom, flash a new kernel via CWM or SGS kernel flasher in playstore...
And even if you were not on <3e> recovery but BLUE 5.5...recovery, then you just need to follow Erikmm guidance to flash this
And Finnally, IT IS NOT RECOMMEND TO ODIN (do GR) OR HEIMDALL VIA FRONT USB PORTS ON YOUR PC, YOU SHOULD DO THAT WITH BACK PORTS (ON YOUR PC CASE)
Wow take the loooooooooong way lol
This is just another miui style rom...flashing away from this doesn't have to be long and tedious

tv out available on this rom?
Whenever I try to flash the ROM I get a status 7 error even though I made sure I followed all the instructions.

Erik, I figured out why some of your users are getting an error 7 when they flash. They don't have an efs backup in their sdcards so when they try to flash the rom, updater.sh will exit with status 7. Read the logic here:
https://github.com/teamacid/android_device_samsung_galaxys4gmtd/blob/gingerbread/updater.sh#L144
If they had been flashing from a BML rom then the efs would've gotten properly backed up.
Also reflashing the rom right away will work because the script will only run all the way once if it finds cyanogenmod.cfg on the sdcard:
https://github.com/teamacid/android_device_samsung_galaxys4gmtd/blob/gingerbread/updater.sh#L118
It's not necessarily a good thing that people can reflash even though the efs backup didn't get restored.

There's one surefire way to find out....flash it.
LOL don't get your panties in a bind adobrakic just feel free to pm me any time
That is seriously the most retarded way to find out. You gonna flash every ROM just to see if it has a certain feature? If you don't know, don't answer.

Keep it clean guys.
He was just encouraging him to try it out.
On the plus side, a question was actually asked in a Q&A thread instead of in the dev thread

Good to know, thank you, I did not realize that based on CM7 meant all CM7 features, I thought it was just kernel, MTD, basic things like that. And thanks for the heads-up about no themed icons and no landscape mode for the launcher.

Actually he's wrong based on mtd is exactly what you said. The features are in the OS which are pretty much in the frameworks and apps.
