day one screen issues - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got home and after a full charge i booted up and noticed a gray patch in middle,a nd also a lot of light bleeding from the left side.. i plan on exchanging if tomorrow but im already considering another brand tablet..... any ideas?

I had a little light bleeding from the right hand corner... didn't bother sending it back to Newegg, if I bought it from Bestbuy, yeah... I probably would of returned it.

I took it back and got a new one. Its perfect now.

Frys Electronics - LG G2X no contract for $299

Hey guys,
I thought I'd share this with you,
Frys Electronics is selling an unlocked and no contract version of the G2X for $299 brand new.
I thought it was a good deal because locked/used they go for $200-250.
Their stores are located through out the bay area but you can order online as well I believe.

Bear in mind if you are intending to use your phone in the complete darkness, with brightness on 100%, while drawing white and ivory lines on a black DRAW! screen, (like we all do so often), you might not want to get one of these. 3 guys who did just, put about 25 phones in the refurb bucket by themselves, so I guess kudos to them.
Fry's does have a 30 day policy, so you can pretty much wait 45 days and then launch a class action if you are not satisfied.

Thanks to those guys who put lots of phones in the refurb buckets. I got mine refurb and had it sent to me in Thailand. Got a great deal on what I consider to be a perfect phone. Yes, of course, it has minor screen bleed but I only notice it in a dark room with brightness turned up, which I never do, so it doesn't bother me in the slightest. It has never locked up and only rebooted once on a wall charger before I updated to GB. I only had it one day before updating to GB and it has been rock solid ever since.
I paid less than half what a new 2X sells for here in Thailand without all the LG bloatware and I am on official GB (rooted) now, instead of waiting for it like all the 2X people still are. I couldn't be happier with my G2X unless it could make me an espresso in the morning.
I bought one of the Fry's refurbs this weekend at my local store, and I'm using it right now. I have to say, it's much nicer than my Droid X. The phone looks brand new, and still had protective plastic on the USB port and on the metal trim on the back. There's a tiny bit of screen bleeding in the upper left-hand corner, but it doesn't really bother me. It came in a plain white box with all of the original T-Mobile documentation and the original LG charger and USB cable. I plan on dumping Verizon and using Simple Mobile, but I'm going to play around with this for awhile longer, first.

my "new" phone didn't even come with the plastic on the metal trim. i'm starting to think tmo sold me a refurb for full price :| but who knows, i can't prove it

I think whoever is refurbing them for Fry's just adds the plastic wrap to make it look newer and prettier when you open the plain white box.
i dunno about paying $300 bucks for a refurb device....

I've purchased many refurb devices and every time they have been as good as new. Often times people buy them and return them in a few days and then it has to be refurbed, as it can no longer be sold as new. In some states if the item has been shipped and returned for non-delivery it is considered used and cannot be sold as new again. So the carriers sell them off cheap in pallets to be refurbed.
Two days ago I purchased the phone online-they changed the webpage now, but two days ago it said nothing about it being refurbished. So after driving an hour across town, they try to give me a refurbished one. Luckily, I had my receipt/screenprint as well as I guess a little luck on what manager I spoke with- long story short, they gave me the $299 price, and put the $264 balance ($519 no contract price) on some gift card.
The thing is, my receipt now shows this, I could make $264 if I returned it lol

Just ordered my new MXPE

Yesterday. It's supposed to be here by the 10th, so I've obviously been stalking here for a bit.
Finally decided to upgrade from my OG 2013 MX since it's starting to show its age. Went with white front, black leather, and blue accents with the greeting of "Activating TARDIS".
My only real issue is the warranty. I think that may be the only thing that stops me from unlocking.

I had the same worries but Motorola and pure Android without root is almost an iPhone garbage!!!
My advice is to get insurance through Squaretrade. Motorola customer service sucks big time.
Just got mine yesterday. Debating whether to get the moto care protection on it. I also came from the 2013 x. Definitely going to take a bit to get used to the substantial size difference.

I went the square trade route as suggested above especially after the horror stories of Moto support.
Got mine last week.. This week a dead line of pixels running vertically appeared on the screen. Persists through power cycles.
Kinda upset.... purchased through Amazon who is replacing phone practically overnight. Just glad it failed now rather than later.

uk red tint update?

So while awaiting the fix to land in the UK I have been playing with the settings and found its most white/natural with The RGB scales all the way down. Thats red green and blue all the way down. Still have a slight red hue on the edges but not as bad. Fo we have any idea whe the uk will get the update? My device is unlocked. Thanks

I'm waiting patiently too with my sim free s8+ . My pink hue is around the right side edge and abit at the bottom edge the rest of the phone is ok

I am on my second s8 plus .first one had yellow tint on the bottom half of the screen. Phone number 2 has the red screen issue.
I spoke with samsung today and I was told the update for the uk is coming in the next 2 weeks . A hour later I phoned back and told them I want my phone replaced
And was told I would get a new one on Tuesday.
The update only works in adaptive mode and some people have reported that the issue still remains after the update and others are happy with the fix .
If my 3rd s8 plus has any issues it's refund time for me . Not paying nearly £800 for a subpar product . For that money the phone has to be spot on and if samsung can't make the screen perfect that should reflect on the price . 499 at the most .
@tredstone79 i got mine through carphone warehouse on upgrade. Do i have to go through them or through samsung direct do you know? Thanks
My update came through about 2 hours ago. On EE
I have called samsung uk who straight away are delivering a new one tommorow. As you say the update just helps in adaptive mode and the others are still red as you say. If it doesnt work again then il get a refund if i can.

Hi Steve. I dealt with car phone warehouse when I had the s6 plus that had a yellow tint .
I went in store and none of the staff would admit the screen was yellow .they said if they return it to samsung and they find no fault car phone has to pay out of there own pocket.
They advised me to take it to a samsung store and have it checked out but the samsung store couldn't help me because I didn't buy it from them.so in the end I sold it on eBay. Car phone is a terrible place to buy a phone from.
I purchased my s8 direct from Samsung uk online .I phoned them about the red tint and said I wasn't happy and they are collecting mine on Tuesday and at the same time giving me my new phone. So it's a front door exchange.
If you need to return yours to Car phone insist on a exchange and not a repair. I wasn't even tempted to deal with Car phone when they offered the free speaker for buying the s8.

Same here 2nf one was worse than the first one. I was supposed to get a replacement on 5th now news of it till now. Called many times and been irritated by their incompetence. They said phone has been posted but dunno whose fault is it. Ups or their own

I got mine replaced twice.
First time it was dropping calls randomly but screen was perfect, replacement came with the terrible red tint issue and finally third replacement is fine.
Very happy with it now., i'm considering flashing stock rom.

Got the update last night too, on 3 but pretty sure their phones are unlocked so not sure if that makes a difference.
It has seemed to solve the problem after a bit of fiddling though. First reboot took forever though thought the thing had died

Yeah update as it has other fixes. It won't change your display unless you play with settings.
I've received it - first last week adds some RGB customisations and this one today adds curve customisations. However my screen is fine.
i flashed mine to EVR (UK EE) and got the updated straight away. seems that carriers aren't necessarily in the dark ages this time around?
I think carriers are getting hassle from customers so worked quicker to get it out.

I had mine fixed at ifixandrepair for $250. OEM new Samsung screen, they showed me the box. I have square trade warranty, they said only one place in my area they worked with which was batteries plus. Batteries plus said they had to send it out, take about 3-5 days, was same price. Square Trade said i could take it to anyone i wanted but i'd have to pay for it and send them the bill. I had it back fixed in 2 hours and the reimbursement check in 3 days. The new screen is much brighter and colors are a lot more vivid and vibrant. Touch is perfect. Of course it's no longer water proof, which is to be expected. I love the phone, hate the fingerprint sensor location. Pre-ordered unlocked s9+ from samsung

I used Samsung without insurance and only ended up costing $170 but was without my phone for a week. Had to mail it to them. And it is still waterproof. Dropped it in the rain getting out the truck went back 10 mins later and found it, still working.

Screen replacement. What would you do?

It happened, dropped the 3 and messed up the screen. Figured it would be the usual $129 at ubreakifixit which I've had to pay once or twice on previous P2 & XL, but nope, $269! With tax that'll probably be around $300, which is just $100 down from either a brand new 3A or a "renewed" 3 from Amazon.
Is there a cheaper way to fix it? Seems absurd to spent $300 to fix a phone when it's so close in price to new options. I do like the phone and wish to keep it until 4 or something else comes around.
Depends on your situation, I guess. I cracked the screen on my Pixel 2 XL (still not sure how, I was eating dinner one day and looked down to see a crack from the earpiece to swooping to the middle of the screen). I paid $200 for Verizon insurance to get another device as it was about 2 months before the Pixel 3 came out. I knew I could get at least $200 for trade in toward Pixel 3 so the cost to replace the phone was worth it, to me. I ended up getting $325 in trade and had a phone that wasn't cracked. It was refurbished and not a Google Store edition, but it did what I needed for a few months.
If you're OK with the 3a, go for it. I've read very good things about it. Refurbished phones can be hit or miss, in my opinion and really depends what they were refurbished for. The first one I got back from Verizon had something loose inside and if the phone was inverted in my pocket (I put it in "head first" so the charging port is on top) and it was moved around, it would restart. I kept pulling my phone out of my pocket and the fingerprint sensor would not unlock, required code. I realized it was rebooting my didn't know why. One day I was spinning the phone on the table in a meeting at work and it rebooted. I started shaking around and was able to get it to reboot every time I shook it while it was upside down. They replaced it with another one that was fine save for a few wear spots on the frame, but again, it did the job for the last two months before the 3 came out.
