According to Gary. New SD card code, performance enhancements. Are you using the WW or US version?

No idea but I did check and yes. there is firmware update (US version).
Got it over OTA for (manually flashed and rooted) WW too.
BTW, are there any restrictions on US?
Hurray! Updating now!
I have a UHS card I want to test with new version. Heres hoping...

Installed the firmware, the camera firmware is indeed updating too. Very slowly
Seems they have added cfq and deadline! At least non-rooted users can try this out now.
RootKeeper did its job, happily
Edit: Getting 80s in RL Benchmark on sio, which is a mediocre improvement, but 1000 INSERTs took only 27s (as compared to 60 earlier), so they really started working on this thing!!!
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app
Not sure if improved or just margin of error,
but RL benchmark I got 102 on Andropolice it was 119, so not so much.
Second run after cold boot (not sure if mattered), I got slightly faster # of 94. Note these were on balanced mode.
On Performance/Normal mode, I got 81. I do not know which mode Andropolice used, but if they used Performance Mode as well then it is indeed some improvement i.e. ASUS is indeed working on this issue actively.

For Sunspider with Chrome, I previously got 1300's, but now 1400's-1500's so slower or within the margin of error.

Hopefully they cured the clicking sound in the camera. I also wonder why they updated the touch screen....
On sio I'm getting worse average speed on microSD (internal seems similar in speed), but less hiccups and definitely better SQLite results, also in AnTuTu.
Typing seems smoother too.

For people with Lag issues it appears that the latest patch will help a lot. I've gone into most of my apps, done updates while using the tablet, and worked in my browser. Before this update I always got lag and frequently the wait/close app dialog.
After this patch today I'm not seeing these problems. Things still aren't silky smooth but there aren't any big hiccups. I'd consider this version to make the tablet usable where before it was an exercise in frustration.
So go to settings, about tablet, system firmware update, then check. Definitely a lot of improvements.
Where are you located? I checked and it says no update. I'm in the US.

I got home not long ago (10-11pm central time). Played around with the tablet. No update dialog yet. Seemed kinda slow because tablet's been on for a day or so, and I rebooted it. After it booted up, I was prompted for a firmware upgrade. Perhaps try rebooting? And I'm located in US (Texas) if that matters.
I doubt location (within US) matters but if it does I'm in Dallas and i have the update.

@OP: what firmware version do you have after the update?
Just heard about the new patch, checked the System Firmware Update in the Setting menu and the download started right away. The only problem, it won't install when your battery is below 15%! I'm at 8% and climbing. They send these out in batches, so if you don't have it now you should be getting it soon. If you're in Austin, TX you should be able to get the update.

So just pulled the update...fairly impressed obviously the kernel has been turned down a bit ...stock now @ 1700 vs 1900...touch screen seems better calibrated ...apps seem to open faster however a good cache/dalvik wipe always has that effect...was able to keep root...haven't unlocked yet as there is no ROMS/kernels yet so why bother ....camera does not seem any better though.

In the benchmark result post, people are getting way way way better scores than me. People are getting 13 000, 14 000, while you can see in this screenshot, i'm not even hitting 5K. This is with performance mode, running .26
I really dont get it how come my score are so low. I am rooted and have removed a bunch of bloatware that did make my tablet seem smoother. In any case, i did try this test before even rooting and still around 4500. I tried changing settings in SetCPU, even when i use performance governor and cfq, still get around 5100. Any ideas?

Do you have force GPU rendering on in the Dev option, because it is known to drastically drop your scores.
I'm getting around 14150 using Zues' Rom v3.0.

in addition to ensuring that you have forced 2d rendering disabled, you might want to check your minfree settings. right after flashing zeus' rom earlier i ran a test and also got around 5k. it didn't jump up to 13k until i adjusted minfree. you can find some suggested settings in d14b0ll0s' tweaks thread. you don't need to be unlocked but you do need root.
Mh... i had similiar issues too. First after i installed .26 i got also 13k. Then after some time i only got 5k-7k.
Yesterday i read an article on anandtech.com with the title the-16gb-nexus-7-storage-performance. Sorry can't post url's.
One of the comments remembered me about one thing. I also had a transformer prime. I used it to store my pictures. The more less diskspace i had, the slower the transformer become.
i had some movies, pictures and tv episodes on infinitys internal memory. After deleting them i got again 10-12k.
Actually, we should become very angry on asus putting such a crap into a such expensive device. Even the nexus 7 got apparently a better controller then our infinity... grrrrrr
Well I only got 3600 on the quadrant mark with the .26 update installed, so I was a it puzzled there. When I tried without force GPU rendering it couldn't even hit 3000!
Ran this one just once this morning. I'm stock, rooted, locked. Used setcpu to overclocking both max/min to 1700MHz and set to performance.
Ran this one with ATP Tweak.

I/O scores are best on ZEUS v4.0 (ICS) and the Team EOS Jelly Bean 1 Rom, though it gave me some random reboots. Both Baked Black Bean 3 rom and the CM10 alpha have I/O (at least SQLite) score more like stock. Needs to have some tweaking done. Otherwise, all the JB roms are even faster than ZEUS v4.0, which is nice and fast.
Running stock, performance mode, Force 2D GPU rendering OFF
I/O score of 1125.
Really hope that if/when they release JB, it fixes the I/O problem.
Although to be honest, its showing the TF201 as having a higher I/O than the Infinity, however I remember my TF201 being even more sluggish when I/O-ing, such as installing apps from the Play Store, etc.

I kind of don't pay as much of attention to Quadrant and benchmarks. They are good static indicators but lets face it (they do things you wouldn't normally do).
If the tablet is slow in different areas it will be noticeable. If it's not then hey it's working well. Kind of like the Kindle Fire's will probably not score as high but they work well for what they were designed to do.

I can't explain why there is a sudden jump in performance for both total and i/o, but to get more reliable scores you should run it multiple times. Compared to the other devices shown in the result page, the i/o (green) is still behind all other devices.

Got my infinity and ran quadrant right away my I/O score was in the 4,000 range. I was on a rom version before .26.

I found this odd because people keep saying .26 has better performance.. I never actually used the tablet pre .26 update... but this thing kinda sucks. My fairly old Iconia a500 is WAY smoother and offers a better overall user experience.

Stock Teg3 One X running the recent 4.0.4 update.
If you guys want numbers that make you feel good about IO, use Quadrant. It runs four simple tests and only runs sequential, not random reads and writes. Random, especially writes (actually, all writes), is a weakness on all Asus tablets because of their choice of IO controller and NAND solution. AndroBench runs 11 IO tests and breaks out the results of each.
Here's a Teg3 One X vs. a stock TF300 on JB. The TF201, TF300, and TF700 are all using the same implementation of Hynix NAND. The N7 is where Asus moved to a Kingston solution. According to Anand it's better but not significantly. The $199 7" KF HD is using a Samsung IO controller and NAND. Asus' IO issues aren't s/w, they're h/w and will continue until they start using more mainstream solutions like Samsung, HTC, and even Amazon use.
This is a good discussion of Asus' IO challenges...

I don't think scores are the end all. User experience is much more important. I don't know which test is best, but quadrant is easy to use and gives a graph that i can compare over time. Quadrant is just away to keep score.

Unfortunately the Transformer Infinity doesn't compare to my GS3 overall. The Infinity has a monster CPU and slightly better GPU overall (based on many tests which it wins some and loses some), but the 2D performance is severely lacking as is the I/O. Still, it's not a bad thing at all. Works quite well for what I wanted.

I just ran a speed test. 16.9 mbps down and 5.9 mbps up. No problems. I guess I'm just lucky.....
Edit: Just ran another. 17.4 down and 6.9 up. Have you done a cold boot since installing the update?

Those numbers are kinda weak my friend. I was rolling 24-32 on downloads and 14-16 on uploads before the update.
I cold booted several times and just did a factory reset. Still horrible. I've never had major problems with this device until now.

they.....
They probably lowered the power of the wifi to save battery life
Can't rob from Peter to pay Paul. If that's what they did - its a huge mistake on their part

I'm now also noticing, that app updates hang while updating. It will constantly say updating. I have to uninstall and then reinstall. The hits keep on coming. I'm starting to think this update is one huge failure.

Anyone else having issues with this update?

I was getting 1.4mbs after the update. Rebooted my router and now I'm getting 36mbs which is what I would suspect.
Conclusion - not a rom problem.
Not here. I applied the update last night, then restored root - performed a couple of app updates this morning. System has not rebooted since update applied.

It's actually faster than before the update.
On local network with 54g router I have download speeds around 700kbytes/s only. With .16 I could watch full HD movies from network drive, with .18 it is impossible now.
I never had issues with iMDB and YouTube videos before the update. Now I get constant intermittent lag. It's not just a coincidence since I got the update
