I'm about to test out a 1700mah battery is bought. I wanted to see if there is a good accurate battery/phone usage app so I don't have to guess about how many text, calls, and how long I web browser or played games for? I really need one asap cuz I'm about to unplug for my first full battery cycle.

Battery left. Install it, use your phone like you normally would until it dies. Repeat, and it will have a fairly accurate estimate of the amount of time left until your phone dies.
This is especially useful of you use set CPU profiles.

Battery Monitor Wdiget. Developed by someone here at XDA (Sorry I cannot remember who. I'm terrible with names) It's pretty powerful yet doesn't draw a significant amount of power.

Try calibrating your battery.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
There is a rogue app in your drawer. download watchlist app, it will keep track on other apps which are hogging your system.
Battery calibration won't and doesn't do anything useful... its more then likely an app or something running constantly. What's your screen on times? Post a screenshot of your battery usage.

I'm on 2.3.4 with practically all the bloat and more removed, holy hell battery is terrible for me... if testing to find rouge apps doesn't work I'm gonna factory reset and just not install any thing. Today I didn't hardly use my phone (no work) sat around on the computer, paid some bills watched some movies and TV, sent two text messages and read 3 emails battery was at 65% after 3 ½ hours... 3 of which was idle time and screen off. Never had it so bad before.

Anytime. That's usually the first thing I do when I install a rom based on lg stock. That app runs constantly eating data and ram. You will usually gain almost 1mb of open ram by just deleting it.

Ya I knew there was something I was missing, considering my average use on most 2.3.3 roms would be at least 16-20 hours, I was barely getting 10-11 hours after the update. So thanks again!

What the hell is qem_warlock .it's been on my kernel warlock since I unplugged.
I pretty much don't play games and don't stream music or anything like large data usage. I call text browse and read articles and such, XDA and Facebook is about it for other usage though, light in most eyes, and I under-clock the phone to 700's usually.

Its not bad, but it could be better. It looks like u lose signal a few times throughout the day. The phone searchin for signal will def drain ur battery. That was really the only thing i noticed. Looks like ur awake time and screen on time r pretty dead on (better than mine) so ur peob not havin wakelock problems. Do u use the facebook app? It is a huge battery hog.

I like the Friendcaster app for Facebook. It does everything the official app does and it's a lot more resource-lean. It's also easier to use, IMO.
I use the mobile sites for fb and twitter n it def saves on batt life. I also turn off google location (only turn it on wen i need navigation). And also lower the brightness of ur display to abt 20% or so

Also runs a ton faster.
Properly configured, Friendcaster uses C2DM for notifications which is already running anyway, so there's nothing extra polling in the background.

I've got notifications disabled with Friendcaster and it uses 1mb of RAM when it runs in the background. The upside is that I have the option of "sharing" with my other apps.
I'm one of those annoying people who always posts pics of their kids and articles that no one else likes to read, so having this option is important to me.
Nike + running was finally released for android and I can't wait to try it. Any runners here in this section? That would be a great way for us to be competitive and share our scores.
Now I do have a couple questions that I would like to get answered
1. I know he iPhone/iPod used a Nike + piece that u stick in ur shoes, will that work with out phones too??
2. I know for a fact that this also runs with our GPS so I would like to know how bad does it drain the battery and also is it accurate and reliable.
That's all for know and let us runners unite. I found a new track near my house and this would be a great way to learn how long it is.
I've always had a fear of tripping and destroying my phone while running. All I carry while running are keys, Id, a knife, and a flashlight.
GPS will drain your battery pretty fast especially if it needs to pull down any information over a data connection at the same time. The GPS in our phones is good for about 5-15m accuracy.

Just took the app out for the first time today, worked pretty well except at first it didn't track me because I turned the screen off... (GPS went to sleep) be sure to use the built in lock on the bottom left when running with the app! GUI looks nice and I don't get why it has such negative reviews on the play store, seems pretty much bug free for me. You don't need a shoe sensor, it's entirely GPS based. Definitely a hard hitter on battery life, but that's expected with the GPS polling for your coordinates all the time and the always on screen.

I don't think so, that's only for Apple. I don't see any option in the app for syncing with the sensor, so my guess would be GPS is the only option.

Finally tried it out..it's pretty accurate even with fair or weak GPS. When the GPS is strong/locked on it outlines your path on the map thought it was cool to see a circle shaping on my phone as I ran. Keeps time and distance correctly (compared distance on phone to distance outlined on sign at beginning of running trail). Overall love the app, just wish GPS was more stable but that's not the app..it's our damnnnnn G2x.
Nice review, what was distance on the sign vs what the Nike app said?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yea it was it very accurate, off by a meter or foot (whatever the app measures distance by lol) sign was at 67 and the app said 65..PS that was just half of the trail
Hey guys I would just like ppl opinion on the various battery saving apps that are available on the market.
Do you think they actually work? best apps(in your opinion) and best configuration to save most battery.
I have juice defender and and it always says that it is saving me somewhere around 1.6 but I'm not totally sure that that is the case.
I have not had it installed for the last couple of days and my battery doesn't seem to be noticeable y worse than when it was installed

I have stopped using them. I have think it depends in how a person uses their phone to start with. All of those options, can be done manually. I personally got tires of switching to different profiles for what I was doing. I haven't noticed much difference myself.
but, that is just my experience.

The battery on my phone is going iPhone-ish, I need one of the battery saving apps, Are there any decent ones yet?
I would try Bataria from the market. Its free, and doesn't use much resources to do its job. I think the best is to manually adjust different settings on your phone. Same results, nothing running in the background to do it.
I am using Greenpowe.
Battery apps are usually crap. The only ones that really work are the ones that modify how your phone's software works. And those almost always require root access.
If by chance you are rooted, I recommend SetCPU, Autostarts and Autokiller. SetCPU will allow you to set profiles such as throttling while the screen is off, which will save you a ton of battery. Autostarts will stop custom apps from starting with your phone's OS, which leads to less background processes. And Autokiller will ensure that you have plenty of free memory for less tasks being killed and restarted. That alone has the potential to make a huge difference in your battery life.
I'm not trying for snarky, but
An app can't save battery by running
But you can save battery by turning something off
