Nike + running was finally released for android and I can't wait to try it. Any runners here in this section? That would be a great way for us to be competitive and share our scores.
Now I do have a couple questions that I would like to get answered
1. I know he iPhone/iPod used a Nike + piece that u stick in ur shoes, will that work with out phones too??
2. I know for a fact that this also runs with our GPS so I would like to know how bad does it drain the battery and also is it accurate and reliable.
That's all for know and let us runners unite. I found a new track near my house and this would be a great way to learn how long it is.
I've always had a fear of tripping and destroying my phone while running. All I carry while running are keys, Id, a knife, and a flashlight.
GPS will drain your battery pretty fast especially if it needs to pull down any information over a data connection at the same time. The GPS in our phones is good for about 5-15m accuracy.

Yea I would imagine the battery wodnt last to long but long enough for a good run.... have you guys seen the commercial for the Nike + shoes they have with the sensors built in... really cool

Why don't you just Google map it? I live in the city and just map where I run too and then back lol...

No I haven't seen the shoes. I did buy the 2012 airmax for 170 last month. Too bad they didn't come with the sensor which I was hoping they did but its not a big deal. I don't really use maps mt3g, but ill try and ssee how long the trail is using that and compare it to Nike + readings.

Just took the app out for the first time today, worked pretty well except at first it didn't track me because I turned the screen off... (GPS went to sleep) be sure to use the built in lock on the bottom left when running with the app! GUI looks nice and I don't get why it has such negative reviews on the play store, seems pretty much bug free for me. You don't need a shoe sensor, it's entirely GPS based. Definitely a hard hitter on battery life, but that's expected with the GPS polling for your coordinates all the time and the always on screen.

I don't think so, that's only for Apple. I don't see any option in the app for syncing with the sensor, so my guess would be GPS is the only option.

Finally tried it out..it's pretty accurate even with fair or weak GPS. When the GPS is strong/locked on it outlines your path on the map thought it was cool to see a circle shaping on my phone as I ran. Keeps time and distance correctly (compared distance on phone to distance outlined on sign at beginning of running trail). Overall love the app, just wish GPS was more stable but that's not the app..it's our damnnnnn G2x.
Nice review, what was distance on the sign vs what the Nike app said?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yea it was it very accurate, off by a meter or foot (whatever the app measures distance by lol) sign was at 67 and the app said 65..PS that was just half of the trail

so this wonderful phone we all have is a little... Buggy... I was one of those lucky people who wasn't having any issues with their phones now all of a sudden it gets a little laggy and the screen well shut off and not come back on (sometimes if I hit the power button repeatedly it will come back)... It kinda upsets me because I thought I had a good one... It was running fine after root, and after NVflash... It was after I started different kernels and roms that I had issues... Now I am running rooted stock with no other add ons and I am still having issues...
Question time.
Sounds like I am having the same issues as a lot of other people. True?
Should I get a replacement (sounds like a lot of the replacements are duds too) or just wait to see what the update brings?

Check my thread here, will give you an idea of how widespread the problems are: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107660
Same exact thing happened to me. One minute it was a perfect little baby, and next thing you know the booger starts acting up.
I was happy in the beginning when it gave me an awesome experience and was wondering why people are complaining about such an awesome device, then it struck me out of nowhere and began rebooting like crazy.
I want to ride this beast to the bitter end... I am hoping that the end is MUCH further down the road... so as far as we know, the "update" will be fixing most o these issues... i guess I am going to hold off on the replacement... seems like those have the same issues too...
And now the battery is heating up like crazy... I don't like this! Why it's this happening?

That happened on my old G2x, the new one doesn't heat up abnormally, but it does have more light leakage that is obviously noticeable. Gonna get another one when they receive the old one.

Ill leave my WiFi off all day tomorrow, then post a screenshot of my battery statistics (not the ones provided by Android) but more accurate ones from a app called "Battery Monitor" that gives a break down of use and what you had enabled. I don't want you to think I'm a liar or anything. I guess you could call me lucky but I have had nothing but good experiences so far. I haven't had any reboots, no lag, no freezing and great battery life. Probably better battery life than any other Android device Iv'e ever used. I take my phone off the charger at 7AM and don't return it until 9PM. Throughout the day I am making phone calls, sending texts, surfing the web, reading news from 4 different apps and playing some games. I don't know why anyone would lie about there battery life but maybe some people who say they only get 5 hours of battery life are just plain lying? See what I did there?
But does anyone else have a battery that is heating up for no reason? Should I look into a new battery or possibly a new phone?

Nah, the only time my battery heats up is when I am charging the phone and at the same time playing a graphically intensive game. Even then it doesn't heat up to the point of being uncomfortable.

Yeah I see..but I'm not lying. I simply cannot believe that people actually get good battery life because I've had more than one phone and it exhibits the battery characteristics as the last ones. I wish I could experience what some people say, but it simply does not happen unless I'm on wifi. If only the phone didn't eat percents while screen off...

It also depends on how much your 4G signal fluctuates so it depends on your area. If your constantly going from edge to 4G then that is using up more battery than me if I am always getting a good 4G signal. The more work your radio has to do the more battery it will use. The phone is going to eat up percentages when the display is off but if it's eating up "Display" percentage then I would say you have a problem. If your device is in standby most ofthe day then "Cell Standby" will be at the top on the percentage list. It's doing what it's supposed to do. If there was something wrong, then display would be at the top of the list. Next time you take your phone off of the charger, play a game for 20 minutes right away then make a 10 minute phone call. At this point you should see "Display" and "Voice Calls" at the top and "Cell Standby" the bottom. If not then something is wrong. I know there are many people with bad battery's and ones who have had problems with multiple units. I am just not one of them.

I really can't take the quality control issues any more. I think I am going to try and get a Sensation. I really love the phone, I just can't take the battery over heats, and the screen bleed, and the horrible battery life. I know there will be an impending Gingerbread update that will hopefully fix 2/3 main gripes I have with the phone, but it has still left a bad taste in my mouth. I know that HTC never has this bad of a problem with their phones. I think I am going to try and get a replacement for the Sensation through T-Mobile. If I can't I will deal with warranty replacements until I get a good G2x.
Anyone else starting to feel this conclusion?
I am getting a warranty replacement, and that will be the determining factor for my decision.

Same here. That app chewed through the battery like nothing else, even with the LED brightness turned down. Caused all kinds of reboots and whatnot. Deleted it and all issues with my phone disappeared instamagically.
So keep your GF happy, and deal with the reboots... Oooooooor fix your phone, keep it and stop obsessing over text messages... Oooooooor try the new notification app that is in the themes and apps section, keep the phone, make your GF happy and save the world...

I keed I keed. +1 with the notification app, deleting that made my life better. Screen bleed is something I understand too, but that's why I like the notification bar mod sonnysekhon posted in his CM7 themes. Makes the bleed look normal at least until I play a movie or something. Other than that I'm happy. Good luck if you go for the sensation.
Yes but I really depend on it! D: lol. I wish they had an LED notification light on the G2x.
For me its not just screen bleed, its the overheating issue as well, and the poor battery life(yes even with out the app).

It doesn't matter that you have had your apps since the G2. Apps will act differently from device to device. For instance. I have always had the NFL Mobile app and when I put it on my G2X, it was causing it to overheat and was killing the battery big time. It would drop 10% ever 15 minutes while at idle. The very second I deleted the app, everything went back to normal.

Won't hear any flack from me. I am getting the Sensation as well but I don't know if I am going to give it to my wife or give her the G2X. Either way, which ever one I decide on is hitting the bricks once the Hercules gets here. I already purchased the Sensation and returned it the same day due to over heating, freezing and reboots. Seems like every phone now adays ships with bugs and it's like playing a lottery in order to get a bug free one. Looking over in the Sensation forum isn't to promising considering all of it's own problems.
O well. I'll wait until the Sensation gets released from T-Mobile so I can return it as many times I need to like I did with my G2X. I had to return 3 in order to get a perfect device with absolutely no bugs. I don't settle for bugs on my phone and I wouldn't expect anyone else too.

Apps certainly do have a lot to do with the rebooting issues that some people are having. My phone has only rebooted maybe once and it was because of an app. Removed the app and no more rebooting. Replacing the phone will do nothing if you continue to use it the same way and don't do any actual troubleshooting yourself.

Not sure which LED notification app you're using but the one I'm using hasn't caused me any reboots or battery drain (could just be my device but I'm not sure). It's called LG 2x/Black Notifications, made to be used both for the G2x and O2x
As we all know our evos have a tendency of killing battery and according to Android our batteries die #1 reason through display well I have found an amazing that is very customizable and has saved my battery tremendously its called lux auto brightness and it works great just thought id let our EVO comunity know about it cause its awesome and I just found out aboutt it and dev gurantees a refund even after googly tiny little 15 min here's a picture for how much it has helped before this app I normally got around 15 hrs

woah thats a huge difference!!! Ill test it out once I get armon working. These extended batteries are great! I havent touched OEM since lol
have pro version installed but i dont think i have it set up right cuz whenever i unlock screen outside it stays on 15% brightness and i CANT SEE SH*T on my screen...have to open app and hit auto brightness to see. So if you could explain how to use this would be great!
Just open it up go to settings set it up how you want make sure you add it to notification bar and it should be on auto also there's like 4 differnt options for it to change, I choose dynamic, there should be a guide when you first open app, but inside app if you click the gear looking thing on the dashboard it takes you to the main app and you can click lux splash screen and you'll find a tutorial there that is very helpful

Well some of us don't know many reasonable woman, you would think or hope it would be as easy as just using another app, unfortunately it's not always easy to talk some woman into doing things, even something as simple as installing an extra app to talk to you, no the guy has to just live with the fact the stupid app she uses to talk to everyone for some reason hates specific phones and uses 10% battery per hour even when it is supposed to be idle/sleep.
Hi All,
This is an app that i just found that apparently is extremely useful for the I9505 variant containing the Snapdragon processor.

Its mostly useless because of this.
I used it on my previous phone as well, Motorola RAZR HD. There were options to enable data for those apps (I don't use Tango though), and I did.
In the end all it was essentially doing is managing my WiFi, and it made poor choices about that, disconnecting me when I was at home and using WiFi. It made sense to the app; WiFi took more power, but it wasn't the way I wanted to use it.
In the end, it didn't do anything but screw up my experience. I could achieve what it had "learned" and tailored it to my needs using Tasker but doing that doesn't even make a significant difference when I'd set it up for a better power saving experience so those profiles inevitably got deleted.
I should add that the RAZR HD is built to be sort of similar to vanilla Android, and that I trust Samsung a lot more when it comes to trying to optimise power consumption in its ROM without any add ons running, and that's quite a statement considering that the RAZR HD has incredible battery life.
I've had this app staring at me in Titanium Backup, uninstalled, since I got the phone and the urge to try it out comes and goes, but overall I can't really conceive that its a good idea to do so. There's no magical things that it does which can't be accomplished using other tools and most of those tools aren't really worth it despite doing a better job for the reason of the user having more control over what conditions need to be met for the functions to take place. The days of Android needing help with power management through third party apps are for the most part in the past and only exist on pretty old phones.

Yep. And I guess if the functions of this app were so great how it tells you in the description, it would be in the source code of the qualcomm's kernel itself. Maybe it can save some battery but only for those millions of unexperienced users arround the world, who doesn't even know, what android really is.
I would stick with greenify and that's enough. Everything else is the job for the kernel.

Overall it just does more harm then good. My Live Wallpaper seemed slugish. Scrolling became sluggish on homescreen and drawer. Over 1000 Wake ups and counting with it. NO THANK YOU.
USE GREENIFY (BETA VERSION PREFFERED BY ME) BOTTOM LINE

Does this app really help?
I let it run the whole learning period and just ended a few hours ago...
So it started saving battery... The phone was idle the whole time.
You see a huge decline in battery? Thats when the App BatteryGuru started to "save battery", how ironic.
"Google Services" seems to be the cause in here..
When checking Wake Lock Detector,
BatteryGuru is the most wake lock...
Question is, Shall I continue using it?
i started using this app with the adam kernel and ive noticed that my battery life has increased from 12 hours of use to 18/19 hours of use
im a pretty avid phone user. mainly music, web browsing, phone calling, text, games, and seldomly maps (in order of importance to my personal life
with the stock kernel i saw no difference
