MMS issue - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Ok, I know this has been covered at some point (or several), but I can't seem to receive MMS. Yes, I've searched all over xda but haven't found something that works. I get the mms d/l button, but nothing d/l's.
I'm on SKYICS f 2.3 using chomp sms (same issue with stock).
Apn is set correctly, but lists both Internet and mms In same Apn. Which I heard may be problematic.
Any suggestions?
Sent from my Skyrocket running the latest SKYICS on XDA - Thanks seanz!

Would it help if I agree to accept a minimal amount of flaming for posting this problem?
I've tried more sms/mms apps (I'm even using pansi, which was hard to do). No joy with mms. Still can't find useful solutions searching here.
Any ideas? Anyone? Bueller?
Sent from my Skyrocket running the latest SKYICS on XDA - Thanks seanz!

Try downloading go SMS and in the option there you have a specific one for MMS, it suppose to bypass the apn which sometimes causes troubles.
Try it and report back.
And you could always call your phone provider and ask them what you suppose to set your MMS apn, set it separately and see if it works.

No luck with GoSMS. Is this an Apn issue or something else?
Sent from my Skyrocket running the latest SKYICS on XDA - Thanks seanz!

Most likely, maybe the mms are too big try sending a really small one to yourself.

mms relys on your apn's and they are usually in one apn, sms does not need apn's to work.
try going back to stock to see if it helps, if not call your provider

Update: Works fine now using lte. Does not work over wifi. Started working while on vacation in an lte area. Have not tried non-lte 4g.
Sent from my Skyrocket running the latest SKYICS on XDA - Thanks seanz!

MMS needs mobile data if it's disabled they wont work.

Bump please!
I'm having MMS issues as well. with correct APNs MMS works while using a custom ROM only. I have never been able to receive any while on stock, even my own. I've had sprint, boost, and tmobile customers MMS me. only comes thru when Im not using a stock based rom.
More info: I'm using a net10 sim with their APN settings from their phone rep since the website's one didn't work. So we can rule out net10 since I've received picture messages.
Any thoughts?

No, never used it.

its your carriers responsibility to get mms working on stock firmware, keep calling till they get it resolved.
one other thing, when on custom rom and mms works check your apns and see if its the same as when on stock

I been using this APN for months with my Samsung vibrant previously and lot's of custom ROMs yet, MMS (sending and receiving) and internet work fine. On my Vibrant stock based ROM's MMS works fine as well.
I used CM 10.1 and several other skyrocket none stock based ROMs and everything worked fine.
My issues come out when using stock or stock based ROMs on the Skyrocket. Hope that gives more insight.
(calling net10 won't work, I know more than their Rep's know)

i still think its ur apns or some app frackin things up as well could also be your network settings and/or radio.
make a backup then wipe caches and reset, setup ur apns if need be, if still a no go
return to stock using odin .
or maybe your stock based skyrocket doesnt like net10 carrier

okay...its about time i find out.

why is it that every time i flash a rom, data speeds become complete crap? the apn fix didoes work for me. i don't see a reason why this should happen.
Normally each ROM will have a preferred radio. Make sure you are using the correct radio.

You also can't expect things to work honky dory if you're flashing a lot lol. Im on stock radio with cm7 and have also used miui and at one point android revolution. I've never had data speed issues.

If you're saying the APN fix DOES work for you, the answer to your question is because almost all ROMs have the incorrect APN config for some markets.
I tried the APN "update" on the stock radio using CM7 but my upload speeds are still only around 300k. I'm wondering if the network is still behind here in Kansas City.

Indeed that may be the case. CM7 (as do most custom ROMs) already has the proper build.prop settings to allow 1.3 MB/s upload speeds, and you've already tried my APN changes. There are some threads claiming a few people have lost HSUPA from flashing radios, but I don't know if this situation applies to you.
If you want to confirm without a doubt whether or not your market is HSUPA enabled, try this if you're feeling adventurous. First, backup your current CM7 ROM in ROM Manager, then flash the updated rooted stock RUU that came out a few days ago at THIS thread. This method flashes the updated stock image through the bootloader (using the P98IMG.ZIP method), and it flashes a new radio to your phone. If your speeds stay the same then it's safe to say your market isn't HSUPA enabled yet. However, if your upload speeds improve vastly after doing this method, then just keep that new radio that the new RUU flashed to your phone, and restore your CM7 backup. After restoring CM7, flash the HTC-RIL file that matches the new radio (HTC-RIL 2.2.0079HM). You can find this RIL in this thread. Works like a charm, I've been running it for a couple of days now on CM7.0.2 stable. Battery life is very good too.
Awesome! Thanks Henry. I'll try it when I get back into town. One of my coworkers has the Inspire (100% stock). I'm going to ask her how her U/L speeds look after the update as well.
Give it 3-5 days, i used to think that too. Your new rom or radio has to get adjusted to each other. Its like a fine wine in most cases. if you flash a new rom it has to get adjusted to the radio vise versa. Its kinda like a new baby thier brains like a sponge soaks up info quickly. just give it time my freind spend a few days with each rom and radio combo you test and on the 3rd to 5th day, data, and kernal test your setup.

You will probably have better luck posting in your phones forum (Q&A section), or even better in the thread specific to the ROM you are having issues with.
Unfortunately he can't until he has 10 posts. It's a nice catch 22. Im digging through search in hope of finding answers.
I don't think MMS over wifi works on that rom. Try over 3g?
Yea i tried posting it wont let me yet. I just don't know what else to do besides really flashing stock rom and trying again

i believe mms is borked on that rom. was for me.
I've got a question. If I wanted to switch to Synergy's new RC do I need to install any custom kernel or is it included with the install of the ROM as well?
i flashed that same ROM with no issue. you may try to reflash it and be sure to wipe everything clean. something may have just gone wrong in the process
There are currently no gingersense kernels. No source I believe

Connection problems with SUPERLITE CM10 JB4.1.2 RoM

I recently flashed to Vincom's SUPERLITE CM10 JB4.1.2 RoM | V8.0.
Ive gotten things up and running pretty well, but there is one major issue I seem to be having. My phone is not consistently able to connect to data on AT&T. I am frequently losing my data connections in locations where I have always had them in the past.
I searched around on his developer thread but didnt see an answer. I saw a reference to APNs for AT&T, but his note says these should now be included in the ROM I flashed, so Im not sure if I am missing something.
Anyone know if this is a common problem or how I can troubleshoot it and get up and running again?
Thanks.

I see baseband version i727UCLI3.
Access Point name was was set to ATT wap, cingular. I switched it to ATT LTE (pta)...should this fix it? Any idea why this would have happened? Will I need to keep checking this or was it just something from the ROM flash?

[Q] A new MMS issue

Hi
The only way I'm able to send mms is to disconnect the internet apn, either by enable wifi or rename my mms apn to "default, supl, mms" and choose it instead of internet apn.
If I try to send an mms with the internet apn on the data signal flickers and the message apk just continues to try sending it without success.
I've tried to
-disable the message apk and installed handcent and gosms. (one at a time)
-disabled auto receive,
-used gosms apn
-clean flash with full wipe
and of course I've triple checked my apn settings
I had no issues before i rooted it
I've searched the forum and havent found any post about this and no solutions :-/

Did you try other ROMs?
And you might need to update your Radio firmware.
I'm not really professional at this, but these 2 are the main factors.
Oh, try not using other Message app other than custom.
I haven't tried another rom yet,
I belive that since I'm the only one on this rom with this issue, there must be a solution.

Ah your the one that has the selectable MMS APN yeah? Many months ago I had this happen to me, and I thought it was strange. Pretty sure I did a clean flash and that fixed it for me (selectable MMS APN). There's a few reasons I can think of that might make this happen...
Multiple MMS APNs in the 'Access point names' settings. A incorrectly filled out MMS APN, making the phone think it's actually an internet APN.
I think this is a problem you need to try and eliminate first...
Have you tried hitting menu in 'Access point names' and selecting 'Reset to default'? What about a clean flash of the ROM?
Hmm I just had a vague memory of what happened when I came across this awhile ago. I'm pretty sure in my MMS APN settings it was trying to combine my Internet APN and MMS APN together in one setting, while still having a separate internet APN also.
Hope some of that helps in some way

Yep thats me
I've tried a clean flash, wiped everything but it made no difference, the only reason I keep my mms apn selectable is that is its the only way top send mms outside wifi reach.
Reset to default didn't help either. I've been looking for a combined apn, and I'm still trying to figure if its possible.
I've tried Bruce cm10 and mms worked just fine, (but it wouldn't read my as card, HA HA no one said it should be easy)

According to Albinoman it is "hit and miss" and dependant on the operators - in DK we are unfortunate apparently. I know however that 4.2.2 is working in other phones in DK

I renamed my mms apn to "default, supl, mms" which made it selectable
Then i found an app that could switch apn with one press on the widget
and when I was to send/recieve mms I pressed the widget button
I used handcent, because it was able to notify before the mms was downloaded.
That's the closest I came to an solution
Any idea which phones or provider it works on?

PrePaid Network's APN Setting's

Hi Guy's , was just sharing a bit of testing I have been doing for a while now using prepaid network's on the At&t Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH_i727. I have tried H20 , net10 , Red Pocket and a few more running 4.2.1 jellybean , 4.0.4 ICS , and 2.3.6 Gingerbread. All of the APN setting's was slow and unresponsive on 4.2.1 jellybean and 4.0.4 ICS , time's ranging from one minute to five minutes and sometime's never sent at all. But 2.3.6 was a totally different ballgame , on every prepaid network I sent mms messaging it was blazing fast with no hang up's or glitches. So if anyone has any question's or need's any help with apn setting's just hit me up or leave comment's down below. i have almost every prepaid apn down and still have a few to check out and see how they function on updated rom's. Thank's for your time guy's and if there is anyway I can help you guy's hit me up.

Well, the thing is, I have no way of updating to the jb firmware that's available to me, my windows 7 absolutely will not recognize my phone. Ice tried going through kies, through Odin, I've tried different drivers, otb cables, even took phone apart and cleaned the charge port....I've been on the phone countless of times with Samsung support, and was in best buy talking to there techs but to no avail. Idk if its related but not only is it not discoverable, mobile data still not working, and every time I go to try putting it in download mode, it goes straight into recovery. I Ruth it of, take the battery out, hold down both vol+ and vol-, put battery back in, plug in the usb cord from the computer, still going into recovery and not detected. Sooo I have tried rooting it so I can flash newer roms, but no luck with a wireless rooting method, and no custom recovery equalls no custom rom, so at a loss. Tried framaroot, z4root, gingerbreak, universa androot....still no luck, now, if I can figure out how to install a custom recovery, then I could flash it right after, tried update.zips throbehalf wugh stock recovery, get failed to sign or verify...just canny figure it out and i'm not ready you throw in the towel just yet, another night ahead of scratching my brain...so any input and ANYBODYs behalf would be greatly appreciated and anticipated, thanks gentlemen.
