DNS Servers and iGoogle - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I use iGoogle for my homepage in all the browsers on my phone. My iGoogle has about 10 website feed gadgets. Recently, all of these (except the Verge) started displaying Feed is Unavailable. If I use wifi, I get the feeds, so I figured it had something to do with AT&T DNS servers.
I got Set DNS from the market and set the dns for google servers. Then had to close the browser, go into Airplane mode and back out, bring the browser back up, then I get the igoogle feeds again.
I have to do this every time I restart my phone or it changes data sources (4g to 3g, for example), which is a pain. Is there any way to set the DNS servers without an app so it sticks through a reboot or change of data source? I am running Sky ICS.

[Q] 3.1 Proxy for apps?

So, I am really glad that you can now set the proxy for individual connections so that I don't have to keep switching on the proxy at university and switching it back off when I get home.
But my main issue is that the proxy only seems to work for the browser.
When the browser connects to our proxy, it asks for my student number and password, and then it allows my through the proxy and I can browse the net.
But with 3.0.1, gmail and the other apps still couldn't get through the proxy, as authentication seems to be only for the browser.
I assume it will be the same with 3.1, but will have to double check on Monday when I go in again, as I only got the update today.
The android developers site that has the list of fixes for 3.1 says this:
"This proxy configuration is automatically used by the Browser when the Wi-Fi access point is connected, and may optionally be used by other apps."
So my questions is, how do we access the "optionally be used by other apps" part?
I don't want to root to use 3rd part software.
Thanks
So. Ya, that apps still can't access the internet.
Except for google maps, that seems to work, although I'm not sure if it has just cached maps or not.
Anyway, there should be a way for the apps to use the same authentication as the browser. The proxy is supposed to be global on the device, so how do you make the authentication global too?
Anyone have any ideas? Or know who I can contact to get an answer/fix?
This is very frustrating. What's the point of having a proxy if the apps don't work, especially in android; an app centered OS.
Thanks

Market on mobile

I've searched, and all I found was the trick to *#*#4636#*#* then cypher off, radio off, radio on, cypher on
... which doesn't work.
Here's my issue: The market works.
I mean, it only works on Wifi. If I turn off wifi, or head to a location without wifi, and I try to access the market it gives a data connection error - same with other apps. I have no idea why, but only certain ones are affected.
For example, on 3G/4G, I can get onto the Internet using the standard web browser, or browse, google+, facebook, twitter, etc, all just fine, quick as ever. but try to open the Market and it times out waiting for a response? try again on Wifi, and it takes no time at all to pop up.
Here's where it gets really weird. I've noticed that HTTPS causes a lot of slowdowns on my APN, I noticed it with my previous cellphones, going to HTTPS sites, and it's an order of magnitude slower, which, if the Market (and others) are using SSL, could cause the issue, especially if their timeout is shorter than the browser - but the weird thing is, Twitter is setup to use HTTPS always, and it does not seem to take very long to get updates from the server when refreshing my feed.
I'm confused. I just want the Market to work whenever I need it to.
Any ideas?

[Q] Problem with web browsing on wifi

I've been having problems with web browsing on wifi. I can go to certain web pages such as google and i can search stuff but when i try to go to other web pages either they half load or it says network connection error.
I know my router was having DNS issues because all the computers i had to set the DNS to google DNS for it to work. I set my phone's DNS to google but it didn't seem to work. Also i've tried many different browsers all to the same result. I also went from stock rom to android hd revolution, same problems. It is getting pretty annoying, i feel like it is a DNS issue but i changed it to googles 8.8.8.8.. sooo

Cannot connect to specific website on hotspot, but can on regular phone data

Here's what's happening, only since I've been trying to flash a custom ROM....never had this problem with this site before.
When connected to hostpot:
I go to a certain website, and it just saying "waiting for www....." it doesn't matter what browser I use.
When connected to other wifi hotposts like optimumwifi:
I go to the same website and it loads without any issues.
When I use my phones browser:
I go to the same website and it loads without any issues.
Someone please help, this is super annoying. Also, I should note that 99.999% of website are loading without issue.
My best guess is that HotSpot maybr blocking some sites, ut happens. I always use custom forced dns address. I prefer opendns
208.67.222.222 second can be blank or use Google 8.8.8.8.
There are free dns apps, or you can set advanced ip (static) under that wifi, but note that HotSpot ip usually changes.

Note 10 not auto-loading public wifi login pages

Its been going on for a few weeks now. Everytime I try to get on a public wifi, my wifi settings says its connected, but nothing loads. I was under the impression that since its the same hotspots I try most of the days(train station), maybe they're dead hotspots.
TIL that if you go to any non-https page. like example.com, or 8.8.8.8 it loads the login page.
But does anybody know why the phone stopped going to the login pages?
Things I tried already:
Restarted the phone
Forget the wifi accesspoint and try reconnecting
I had VPN(my paid vpn and secured wifi) ON in the beginning. Then I found out that, they(especially the secured vpn) didnt work wel
l with the public wifi. Now both of them are OFF. Even then my phone doesnt load them login pages.
i can never get my phone to load those pages either. If you go to the browser and type "192.168.1.1" that almost always works to get the login pages to pop up. never found a good way to get it to work automatically like it should though
I'm curious as well. My Note 10 use to do this but yesterday I tried to log into a guest network but didn't get a prompt to accept the terms.
I'm not sure if an update broke the functionality.
