I've just come from Virtuous senseless to SmartDroid, I went to 4ext, formatted everything as per usual, installed the rom, installed this kernel;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1256668
now when rebooting my phone, it's stuck at the android boot screen.
on hboot I have the following details;
*** LOCKED ***

HBOOT- 1.29.0000
RADIO-11.24A.3504.31_M
OpenADSPV05.6.0.2226.00.0418

Why isn't my phone going bast the booting screen, why does my phone only work with android revolution and virtuous inquisition?
any help is majorly appreciated

Have you updated to newest firmware 3.33? Some Roms require it most run 3.32 and 3.33 however I've noticed some asking for 3.33.perhaps this could be a issue? Does the Rom suggest on the developers site 3.33?
Just a thought? Your s off , you have 4ext recovery, your wiping cash and dalvik, wipe data factory reset, you have done all that, perhaps its the firmware? Also did you check the md5 sums before installing to make sure they match developers? If they don't match it could be a corrupted download. If they are matching I'd read over the specs for that particular Rom and see if 3.33 is a requirement. Best wishes.

as the rom is just flashed ..you need to wait until its properly booted ..then reboot to recovery again and flash the kernel (always flash mods/kernels is not advisable ...during first flash of ROM)
now ..do a complete wipe again (4EXT -> wipe|format -> format all partitions except sdcard) then flash the rom ..boot it up ..then go back to recovery and then flash the kernel

Hey.. Then my best suggestion is to run a ics ruu... This is just for cleaning all the partitions.. Then flash back recovery nd restore your rom... Also then mostly other roms works too

you are SOFF and you wont lose it if you run a RUU ...
after RUU
you just flash a custom recovery and flash a custom ROM thats all

Searched a whole lot but no solution!!
My sensation xe is stuck at splash screen with every rom or firmware I flash on it... I checked the MD5sums, corresponding firmware with rom and even the actual method of flashing.
Sensation xe is stuck. I am new to android flashing but have read almost everything about the sensation just not the solution.
Have you removed firmware pg58img.zip from SD card after updating?
Sent from my Pyramid-T
Yes, I have. I was aware of that from the first time I flashed firmware.
Are you able to boot to recovery? Did you superwipe before flashing?
Yes, superwipe. I am also able to boot to recovery.
I took all the necessary precautions as I have been bricked in the past. The thing is every rom you flash on the device gets stuck at boot screen.
hmmm...why not flash a RUU and do it all again? i mean re-do s-off,root and supercid
Is there maybe a way to create a device image or error script to see where it goes wrong because I have followed every guide to the letter here on the sensation forum.
I went trough firmware differences, flashing method, other bootloops/stucks threads. But there is no one with a solution or even the same problem.
So if you would have any Ideas I would appreciate it or do you know a developer here?

I have tried it with the appropriate Europe version and the latest beta of ICS(both XE dedicated). They boot got stuck on bootscreen to.
I am Revolutionary | pyramid ship s-off | 1.27.1100 | 11.22.3504.07_M
i am referring to flash the RUU with hboot 1.17 not the ics one
Will try that right now and I will get back to you.
What was the fw version and roms that you tried? Did you superCID?

however try downloding the ruu and run it from the pc

Have tried that several times in the order you suggested. It does not work for me.
RUU also gets stick on bootscreen. Have you heard about this earlier.
Did you SuperCID? If not, are you using the right firmware package for your CID, and also If you are trying to upgrade your firware for a new ROM, and it's stuck at the HTC splash screen, maybe that's because the ROM you had before isn't compatible with the firmware, so just try to flash the new ROM in this case.
Ok so i had an ICS rom running on my sensation and then i saw the virtuous incision rom and i wanted it. so i updated to 3.32 and i wiped data, dalvic, and cache and then flashed the rom but it just keeps looping. I can't flash any other rom either because it does the same thing. And i do have supercid. Please help!! (
Are you soff?
If not and you are htcdev unlocked
Then you need to extract boot.img from the rom zip file (usually in kernels folder)
Then you need to flash the boot.img via fastboot
Command
fastboot flash boot boot.img

So there's no problem... When you said you had ics rom you might have 3.32 firmware.. Why update it again? Any ways what's your hboot saying now? post all the stuff in hboot..
Also I recommend you to do a factory reset / wipe all partitions except sd card... From the custom recovery you have and flash the rom again... If you are on 3.32 then you should not have any problem

and i updated because i thought i needed to for the new rom, i see now I'm an idiot Dx
also
I tried flashing the rom again after wiping like you said, and i just got to boot loop again D:
Then the only reason Is firmware is not properly flashed... Get the 3.32 firmware from this thread and flash it again...

Make sure the name is fine.. It should be PG58IMG if you are using windows..And keep it on top of sdcard..
Then hboot should automatically find the update (try this couple of times)
If it still doesn't work. Get 3.24 firmware from the same link and flash it and see
Btw you are supercid right? Also the hboot you posted earlier is fine.

Do one thing right now you got virtuous rom right.
Try to do a restore from backup... From your custom recovery.. I assume you have Nand backup..
And see that solves the problem
Otherwise
2. Extract the boot.img from the rom you've flashed.. (it will be in kernel folder inside the zip file) Then flash the boot.img via fastboot.. Keep the boot.img in your adb folder and Type this
"fastboot flash boot boot.img"
3rd chance
3.flash 3.24 firmware from the thread ive linked.. And flash the rom again.
Final chance
Get the ICS RUU of Europe one (get this from pyramid shipped rom collections) thread GOOGLE it) and run the RUU.. With you phone connected to your device in fastboot
This will restore you to stock ics... After this you'll have to flash recovery and all again

I have tried everything, and it just goes back to the same boot loop : (

Hi guys,
im really desperate here, my sensation xe (hboot 1.23, s-off), won't let me boot any flashed rom.
My firmware is 3.32 and im using 4ext recovery 1.005 RC3.
Even my Nandroid backup of ARHD 6.6.3 won't boot, the phone gets stuck in a bootloop (it does't even show the boot animation, only the splashscreen for a few seconds, then reboots).
i bet someone on here can help me, because i don't know what to do.
thank you in advance

i reflashed the firmware, formatted all partitions in recovery, and flashed ARHD, but no luck i'm still stuck in a splashscreen bootloop.
the recovery (after flashing arhd) prompted something like "boot update pending, will reboot after update is finished"
maybe there is a problem with the latest rc of the 4ext touch recovery?
thanks again for your help

Did you run an md5 checker on all of your files?
Is it still reading 1.23 on hboot? (should be 1.27.1100)

if by superwipe you mean flash a file that's named superwipe, no i didn't.
i chose format all (except sd) in the 4ext touch wipe menu.
i did run an md5 check on all files.
the hboot version number says 1.27.1100.
i just reflashed recovery from fastboot to see if it helps (altough i flashed the same recovery version, so maybe theres some kind of bug?) but it is still stuck on splashscreen.

okay i got it working and here is what i did:
it seems 4ext recovery was trying to flash a messed up boot image over and over again.
i pulled the boot.img from the arhd zip file and flashed it via fastboot. it now seems to boot (it has gone past the splashscreen and now shows the boot animation).

both faux kernel boot.img, but somehow 4ext was stuck with an "old" boot.img from a previous aosp rom.
the feature "smartflash" was activated and somehow could not be deactivated. that way the recovery, everytime when it was done flashing the rom, flashed an aosp kernel afterwards.
at least that is my guess.
thanks again.

That's the culprit there.
It's not the problem of recovery
The smart flash option is for ppl with SON and unlocked bootloader.. And as you said it retains the previous boot.img
As you are soff you should not enable it
.To disable smartflash go to tools in recovery there you will find the smartflash option
Also the latest recovery is awesome..
You just need to know what should be enabled and what should be not before using it

yeah, i know that now. there is just one thing: the disabling in the recovery did not work for me.
also: when the recovery is upgradet it asked if i am soff. i misclicked once, but didn't think much of it since it CLEARLY says "if you are not sure, choose no (s-on)".
the thing is it automatically activates smartflash.
the main problem for me was that it could not be deactivated from the recovery. the recovery said "deactivating smartflash" and afterwards "smartflash deactivated" but it wasn't :/
thanks anyways (i know the recovery is the **** i love it, too)
I decided to join the xda-developers community after I spent literally 9+ hours trying to get my phone to work and looking for the answers and couldn't find any for my situation. I am hoping an experienced user can give me some much needed answers!
The reason I am trying to flash the ROM in the first place is because I recently replaced the LCD/Digitizer from another HTC Sensation but for some reason I am not able to connect to T-Mobile network. I thought maybe it was the antennas and I had knocked something loose when I was repairing it when the WiFi wasn't working either, but when I took it to my parents house and used their WiFi it started working. So I decided to flash the the Android Revolution HD 7.2 ROM and followed the guide from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300. I followed the instructions and was able to do everything but the permanent root but I realized I could just flash the ARHD ROM and have it be rooted that way. I flashed the ROM and when it was done it got stuck at the beats audio screen. Then I realized I hadn't flashed the 3.33 firmware first and thought that was the problem so I went back and wiped partitions and data and flashed it to that and then flashed ARHD but it still got stuck at the beats audio logo. So I went and restored it to the backup I made on clockworkmod recovery but then it would just reboot to HTC logo constantly so I flashed to 3.33 again and it still does that same thing. I've flashed ARHD and 3.33 firmware multiple times and it either gets stuck on the beats audio logo or keeps rebooting from HTC. So now it's on 3.33 firmware and I'm leaving it there until someone can help me.
When I did the S-Off, in the beginning it said "revolutionary" at the top. When I flashed the ROM it said *LOCKED*. Now it says -Firmware-3.33-.
This is what it looks like on my HBOOT.
-Firmware-3.33-

HBOOT-1.27.1100
RADIO-11.24A.350431_M

What do I do next? I know for a fact that if I flash the ARHD ROM again it will get stuck on the beats audio logo. I can't even start the phone on the 3.33 firmware because it restarts over and over to HTC logo screen. Also does anyone think flashing to this new ROM will get my phone to connect to the network again?
PLEASE HELP!!

I only needed to flash to 3.33 was because it was for Android Revolution HD. I'm not sure if you need to do that for the elegancia mod.
How did you update the firmware? Did you use the PG58IMG.zip method and if so have you removed it from your SD card afterwards? I know ARHD is best used with 4ext recovery too but i'm not sure it's a necessity. Check out this thread. There maybe some info on it.

put the firmware zip in the root of the sdcard
use any file manager and navigate to that zip
press and hold to the zip until it pops up a menu
go to proprerties
then you will see calculate md5 checksum or something like that
then check if it is the same with the one from the firmware thread
it is important because if you mess up with fw probably you will damage your device

I can't access the zip because I can't start up the phone. Is there any other way of checking md5 sums?

Hi,
That is odd.
You say you have flashed ARHD ROM.
That should install 4 EXT recovery.
So,that means the flash did not work.
Have you actually had a ROM working on your phone since you changed the digitizer?
Also,there is a md5 checksum checker in 4 EXT.
Have a look around the CWM recovery,to see if there is one there.
How do I check md5 sums from recovery?

Hi,
With your s-off status and current 3.33 firmware, there is no reason why it should not work.
Maybe ,the phone was not re-assembled properly?
Or did it work before the 3.33 firmware installation?
rzr86 said:
try to flash the 3.33fw from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
before flashing check md5 sums(it is important)
and follow the installation steps carefully
after that flash the rom
if fails again then flash the boot.img of the rom manually
if don't know how see extra 1 step from here

Yeah it was working before I did the firmware installation but the only thing was that it was not connecting to the network. What do I do??

Hi,
OK.
Let's go about this a different way.
Look HERE
2. Flashing a recovery
1.Flash 4 EXT recovery.
2.Go into 4 EXT recovery/wipe/ and format all partitions except sd card.
3.Flash ARHD ROM again.
The firmware is not preventing the installation of the software.
But using a different recovery, and wiping properly ,may get the ball rolling again.
Once you get the ROM up and running, you can look at the radio/ril combination.

I have the same problem. It happened after I flashed Sebastian's ROM, Revelation, 2 days ago.
My phone is in the same state, Unlocked and S-ON, HBOOT 1.27 . Since it's S-ON I always enable SmartFlash in 4EXT every time I want to flash a new ROM, and the same I did when I flashed Revelation, 2 days ago, but something went wrong and now I'm stuck at splash screen; it shows up for 5 seconds, then turns black, splash screen again and so on.
I can't even restore my nandroid that I did right before flashing Revelation.

if you are using 4ext recovery do this
format all partitions except sdcard
enable smartflash
flash the rom
otherwise flash the boot.img of the rom manually

Get 4ext recovery from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861. It will be more helpful if you're flashing roms s-on.
Happy to help.

And note that first boot of any rom can take upto 10 mins. Be patient.

Do a full wipe except sdcard and then reflash. Post the results.
And before flash got to options (4ext recovery) and ensure smartflash is on.
This will work just fine (note: ViperS 3.1.0 available OTA).

Just to be sure, ensure:
You are htcdev unlocked s-on
You have 3.32/3.33 firmware (check using fastboot getvar version-main)
You chose full wipe except sdcard from 4ext recovery
At least wait 10 mins!!!
SmartFlash is on before flash
Don't choose CPU freq above 1782 in installation (dont overclock gpu too much either)
If you are still stuck, manually flash boot.img and see what happens.
This should work. Other wise try another rom (say, ViperS 3.1.0).

Check the md5 sum if that isnt the problem flash the boot image in fastboot mode.
If that doesn't work just try to s-off its better to do that since it gives you less headaches.

If this doesn't work either, it could be bad partition. Then (only as a last resort) do an ruu. That should definately fix your phone.
Happy to help.
